Lavanda and Mike were absolutely phenomenal! They definitely deserve a raise. Not only were they friendly and attentive but they make you feel genuinely welcome. We purchased a double cheeseburger basket (cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, mustard), a single cheese burger (cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, ketchup and mustard) basket side of fries, and a cookies and cream milk shake. Firstly, the burger is very fresh and actually taste home made. The bun is soft and slightly toasted, very pleasant. The fries were nice and hot, as well as extra crispy and lightly salted. The milk shake has a nice home made taste and doesn't taste like a cup of syrup. Overall a wonderful experience that was met with a wonderful meal, couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Not only do you feel like you travel back in time with a real hand made burger and shake, the atmosphere is phenomenal. The people are always smiling and the place is so clean you could eat off the floor <don't recommend> if you want to jump back in time and eat a burger and fry so fresh it's steaming hot, skip the drive through, ditch the dasher and eats, come inside and sit for a meal. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere of going way back with Wayback Burgers!
Great establishment! Been going for years as a bunch of us work just down the road and tend to go on Fridays for lunch. Great staff, and the owner is awesome! Food is always very good and cooked fresh to order. Place is also very clean and my only complaint would be the cold metal chairs... However they have couches now, so I just sit on those instead of the chairs ;) I've tried everything on the menu and it's all good, but I prefer the double bacon burger. The shakes are also killer, but I'm usually way to full to get one of those... Highly recommend for those wanting a top quality burger, cheesesteak, chicken sandwich, or and incredible shake...
I got a double bacon burger with a vanilla shake. Both were really good. The meat seemed like good quality. Prices are very reasonable. The bacon could have been a little more crispy. I'll definitely go there again!
OK.....so,this was the best stinking burger I have had in years! I don't know what they are making their patties from but they are tender and juicy!!! The French fries are not that good, though, I was given what looked like the dregs of the batch they cooked (lots of small pieces, crusty and burnt). The Mac and cheese bites were delicious. The chicken fingers were nice, real chicken (you may want to use a knife to eat them) the milkshake was also delicious!!!
I am a local chef from Middletown YORK , I order your bourbon BACON 🥓 BURGER 🍔 IS WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD . WELL SEASONED GREAT FLAVORFUL. And my good 👍 friend AJ had your classic burger 🍔 so delicious
We stopped in as we were passing through the area. We have a little one and are always happy when the place we choose to stop has changing tables in the restrooms (mens' and womens'). Food was great. Bourbon bacon burger, fries, and fried pickles were enjoyed by the adults and the kids cheeseburger was 100% consumed and toddler approved. They even came around to check on us after we'd already gotten our food which was unexpected but awesome.
We stopped in today on our way to a wedding reception. Happy we did. We got great food at a great price that was made quickly. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Manager was awesome - he talked to us for a while. He and his staff clearly understand the value in making each customer experience great. I would definitely recommend anyone - whether passing through Monroe or a local customer- stop in and give Jakes’s a try!
Excellent burgers and shakes. Food is prepared quickly, but tastes much better than standard fast food. It is clearly made with higher quality ingredients. The staff is courteous, professional, and welcoming. Love this place!
Fresh tasty burgers as if you made them yourself but better. Service was quick. Wayback employees(Lovandaand crew) make you feel at home. Great place for a really good burger...thank you
I love a good burger and I have been looking for a burger made by a short order cook and not just whipped together by someone just trying to get through. Well with Wayback Burgers I have finally found that cook and that burger! The food was amazing! I ordered the Cheesy and it was perfection! My wife ordered the tenders and she loved them! As an added bonus there is no shellfish on the menu here, which means my wife could eat the fries too! (severe allergy) We will definitely be returning here in the future!
Wow! This place is amazing! The staff is sooooo kind and attentive! The fries, fried pickles, burgers, sundae - everything tasted delicious! I wish this restaurant was in long island!! The owner was soooo nice, he even gave us a milkshake on the house! <3 Memorable spot!
Great experience at Wayback! Such a delicious meal with great and attentive service. I’d recommend the chilli cheese hotdog, A1 Steak burger and especially the Oreo milkshake. The whole family loved their meal!
Stopped today for the first time since they opened!!!. Was really surprised. Double cheeseburger and tator tots and crispy chicken sandwich were great! Wanted to try oreo sundae but was to full lol
My daughter has Celiac disease and diners that cater to her needs are difficult to find. Empire is great because they have a gluten free menu and they use gluten free cookers so there is no cross contamination. The food is great and my daughter loves having so many wonderful options (including GF cheese cake!!). They also have toys for kids to keep them busy and the staff is professional and very friendly. Highly Recommend!!
A wonderful dinner to go, and the food was amazing. Can't wait to sit and dine with my family. The turkey dinner was awesome and it was so nice to satisfy my daughter's breakfast craving for dinner. The food was great and we look forward to dining with Empire on many more occasions. Their online ordering service was easy to use and helped me tonight, especially after dental surgery! Thank you!
Susan is AMAZING. The reviews do not lie, you come for the food but you stay for Susan. 10/10 recommend coming here. And they are great for gluten free - my brother has celiac and they have a separate fryer and everything.
Empire Diner absolutely deserves all the stars! From the moment we walked in, the energy was warm and welcoming — but the true highlight of our visit was Susan, our waitress. She is a superstar. Susan remembered every single order at our table without writing anything down — and didn’t miss a beat. Not one swap, not one modification… nothing! I don’t know how she does it, but it was seriously impressive. On top of that, she kept us laughing the entire time. Her humor, personality, and timing were perfect. It honestly felt like we were being served by a stand-up comedian who also happens to be incredibly good at her job. The food was delicious, the service was fast, and Susan made the whole experience unforgettable. If you’re going to Empire Diner, ask for Susan — she’ll make your day! Highly recommend this place. 💛
The food was great! I went here for breakfast around 10am on a Sunday and they were pretty busy. We had no issues being seated. The waitress was very kind and patient. I purchased the avacado omelette and it was delicious. It came out fast and hot within about 15 minutes. The coffee wasn’t too strong, but it was good. This place has a great vibe to it. My family has been coming here for years, and they say the cheesecake is phenomenal here. Would highly recommend this diner.
Susan is amazing!!! I will definitely be back. Her energy matches my family’s vibe and it felt like she was a family member! She was sooo sweet, kind, funny and so much more!!! Happy holidays to her and her family!!! Love you!!
I live very close to this diner and love diners. This is my go to place when I want comfort food. I love their sandwiches and burgers. The staff is friendly and always very attentive. They have a variety of choices and I always get a toasted muffin for the next day. Their onion rings are to die for.
Two adults ate dinner here early on a Saturday night in late September and had a great meal just like the last time we were in the area about 2 years ago. One of us had the beef gyro platter and the other had the grilled chicken platter. Literally enough very tasty food for at least 2 meals each. The total was about $39 with tax less tip. Note they do charge a 3% fee for using a credit card. Excellent table service. We will return again the next time we visit relatives in the area.
We took a random road trip and found this place off the highway... soon as we entered Empire diner . Susan was there with a smile to great us! Very friendly and made us very comfortable... The food was amazing we had the lumber jack meal. With French toast! My husband had it with the pancakes ..The sausage links were the best!
Stopped for a quick lunch and had very delicious meal. Their cream of broccoli soup was very good. We split a sausage sandwich. It came fully loaded. The fries were crisp and warm. The best part was the service. The waitress was very personal and friendly. We had some fun conversations with her. I recommend giving it a try.
A wonderful classic burger joint. The burgers are custom made to your preferences just the way you want it. I went for the bacon cheeseburger with yellow American cheese with ketchup, mayo, cooked onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Which was a chief kiss and hit the spot. I also when with onions rings instead of fries. I love the onions rings here. They are not overly batter and you can just taste the fresh onions and a chocolate shake with real chocolate ice cream to finish off.
So I kept it fairly simple when I came here, though I did want to try the milkshakes and chili-cheese fries. I ended up getting the Classic Burger + Bacon and a small fry. They told us we could have a seat and they brought it around to us which was very nice. So, the burger in itself was good. The meat has seasoning (Though it could've been a little richer), but it was good. The bacon wasn't burnt and it was also fully cooked. The burger within itself was good (Including the bread). I'd give it about a 4/5 if I had to rate it. But, for the most part it was pretty good and I ate the whole thing. The fries were nice and crispy but had no seasoning (Or barely had any). I didn't really taste any salt on it at all, which sucked because they would've been that much better if they had salt. I believe my total came to about $13 and some change for the burger and small fry. They have a seating area as well. I'm not sure if I'd put these burgers over five guys, but the burger was solid. I still have to try some of the other food.
Tried the buffalo chicken doesn’t taste good the burger on the other hand taste really good little greasy, but still good just the buns weren’t very fresh or maybe because it was the end of the day
Never been and decided to give it a try. The food was good, had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, it was good. And a milkshake. Both were good. Service was a little less. Was waiting for the cashier to take my order but saw her in the back on her phone. Overall a nice spot.
The food is great. The burgers taste like they use fresh ingredients, to include the beef. Lots of interesting menu items to choose from and a great selection of sides/desserts. I have to stop here to eat every time I pass through the area.
Fine enough diner. Went on a weekend afternoon, not too busy. Typical diner food offerings and taste. Ordered coffee but was disappointed that Splenda or Equal was not on the table. I noticed it where the waiter gets the drinks, so probably have to ask for it. I can’t believe anyone would choose Sweet and Low by choice. Yuck. The waiter did seem eager to clean up after us. He asked if we wanted containers to go when we weren’t done and when we were done, we had to wait for containers. If in the area, maybe would return to give it another try. It’s a typical diner.
I'm happy to see a nice fast food restaurant which although is greasy and is frozen but serves excellent food. The waiters and receptionists were cordial and when asked what would they recommend, they gave good options. I really liked the Classic Cheeseburger, hot dog, & the fried curds. However, although difficult I would love to see fresh fries, it would be a major thing in the town. I love wayback burgers and will continue to dine there.
The owner was very kind and welcoming, but the kitchen staff—particularly the chef—could benefit from additional training. My food was served cold, taken back to the kitchen, and returned reheated in a microwave, which significantly affected the quality. With proper food handling and preparation standards, this place has the potential to be much better.
*Not Recommend* *Dirty Cups* *Terrible Service with no Personality* *Terrible Management* *One of the waters tasted like chemicals* *FOOD was COLD!* We came here for a lat brunch and we regret it! I took a picture of the water that tasted like chemicals next to the other cup that tasted fine, maybe the dishwasher didn't clean the soap all the way off or something? the eggs were barely warm, the Gravy was cold and not even warm at all it literally tasted like they took it out of a refrigerator and put it on room temperature biscuits. The eggs were barely even room temperature. The potatoes were actually hot. This place is disgusting and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who enjoys good fresh food or good service. We will never return to this location again!
