My favorite place to dine! Service, menu and staff are impeccable!

One of my favorite dining experiences in Montgomery, this restaurant consistently impresses with its attentive service and exceptional quality. Though I’ve visited only a few times, each meal has been memorable. The white parmesan and truffle frites appetizer stands out as a personal favorite and is truly the best of its kind. For an entrée, I usually go with the chef’s burger, with flexible side options—a touch I always appreciate. The knowledgeable staff is quick to provide details on the specials and ensures a seamless dining experience. Their extensive drink menu, including some delicious fall-themed options, is another highlight. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an elevated dining experience with family or friends.

Just went for New Year’s Eve and it was wonderful. I wasn’t sure how everything was going to be because it was so busy .The food and service was awesome!. Our food was cooked how we asked and our drinks were obviously made by someone who knew how to make great drinks . We will definitely be back!

We came here spontaneously for a post wedding dinner and glad we did. The owner was so sweet he came out and greeted us and gave us a complementary creme Brule. All the servers were attentive and welcoming , recommend the wagu appetizer. Very generous and filling portions. Will go back and also support the owners other business Carmelos.

It is by far our favorite restaurant where we go to visit 3 times a year. The menu and food are wonderful, the service is great and the owners are very friendly. Very highly recommended.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant with my family and this place did not disappoint! Autumn was our waitress and she was phenomenal!! She was helpful and informative. She had amazing food knowledge, made perfect recommendations. We didn’t need to ask for refills. We didn’t have to wait. I’ll continue to go there and request she’s our waitress

We dined here Monday night. What a great night. Appetizers : Calamari for me, my husband had steamers....both excellent, along with very good warm bread and delicious butter! My husband had a seafood dish over pasta, I had the short ribs.....we finished every bite, DELICIOUS!!! Creme Brulee for me for dessert, my husband had a mousse and oreo pie....Again neither of us were disappointed!! Our waiter David was very attentive.....kept our drinks full and dirty dishes removed accordingly. Went to the bar after dinner and enjoyed a very good espresso martini. Such a nice evening and we can NOT wait to return!!!

We came here for the first time, and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great. The service was fantastic, and Autumn was such a great server, request her you won't be sorry, and the owner Arbor was so concerned about how our food was and how our service was. No complaints here. I recommend this place highly. Make sure you get the brown sambuca. With your double espresso, and the tomahawk steak is to die for. WE WILL BE BACK.

My husband and I attended the "Italy vs France" wine dinner . It was extraordinary! The settings were elegant (12 glasses at each place), the wine expert was knowledgable and fun. The food was exceptional--a perfect pairing with each tasting. Every course was as tasty as it was artfully presented. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks!

Went out for my brother's birthday dinner. It was first time here and I wasn't disappointed. Our waiter was prompt and attentive. We started with the fried calamari and pork belly as and they were both delicious. I chose the special NY strip and it was cooked to perfection. My only complaint is that the table was a bit on the small side for 4 people.

This has become one of our favorite local restaurants. We were there this past Thursday. As usual, the food was excellent. From the wine to appetizers to dinner ....everything was delicious . Topped off with dessert and espresso martini! I would also like to point out how much I appreciate that the owner always stops by the table to make sure everything is alright. We are looking forward to a return visit! We were here this past Saturday night, we have been here at least 6 times this summer and you guys never disappoint!!! We had calamari and the watermelon salad as appetizers....soooo good!! My husband had the shrimp special, I had the frutti de mar fra diavlo and my daughter had the short ribs. Everything was delicious and we have lunch for the next day! Our server Ryan was so friendly and attentive and we never had to ask for anything, he was on top of everything. Went to the bar after dinner, Liz makes the best espresso martini and she is so warm and friendly. We can't wait for our next visit!!!

My wife and I love 88 Charles st. When we are in need of a date night we frequently go here. The specials are always amazing. The owner/manager is very in touch with the day to day and will frequently check on patrons as well as help staff with tables. It really is a special place.

Went for an Anniversary dinner as a default when the weather was going to be nasty. We're still blown away by the food & service. Started slow with very, very ordinary cocktails. Didn't have much hope. Then food arrived. We appreciate a certain quality of composition. The chef was masterful & ingredients fresh. Service was completely top notch. Our waiter recommended a dessert that was simply fabulous (despite our uncertainty). We'll be back soon. Just go.

Fantastic dinner. Haven't eaten here in a long time but the food was just as great, the menu had a little more variety which was interesting and I look forward to trying some new dishes, and the service and atmosphere are really great. We sat out on the back patio with a live singer/guitarist, a young lady with a lovely voice that wasn't too loud, perfectly enjoyable, nice ambiance. Definitely five star meal.

Open on Monday, unlike most other fine dining restaurants in the area. Made reservations and ended up adding one, and the staff made the adjustments and got us two tables. So of the team members started off with a few drinks. Then we sampled 3 separate appitizers to get the food rolling. The team made short work of all three. Couldn't get photos b/c I was on the wrong end if the tables. The server gave us all too many options for dinner, but we worked through it. Steaks, pasta, short ribs, and seafood dishes. Everyone commented on how good their dishes were. Several members of the clean plate club this evening. Just when we thought it was over, the dessert menu came out. Same process as the appitizers. 3 choices, and they all disappeared. The strawberry whip on the side was over the top. Got a photo as they brought them to the center of the tables.

Had a great time for my grandmother's 98th birthday. The food was great, atmosphere wonderful and service amazing. The cost was definitely high for the area but worth it. Not so sure about iPad menus but otherwise great place to visit.

So I seen a friend post amazing photos of this place on Facebook. Decided to go on Sunday. Let me tell you are we glad we did. The service was amazing, attentive and kind. Our food came out perfectly cooked and was delicious. I had the chicken, and holy cow was that the best damn tasting chicken I have had in some time. All others also enjoyed thier food, as everyones plates were clean. The drinks were well poured, the Misses loved the cocktails. It was one of the little ones birthdays and we mentioned it to the staff. They were amazing and made her really good. Thank you to the staff and management at 88 Charles St. Restaurant for being an amazing establishment. We will be back for sure to try out more of your amazing food and drinks.

Came here for the first time last night, celebrating a birthday and everything was excellent. For Appetizers we had the Eggplant Stack and Ahi Tuna both delicious. For Dinner we did the 48 Oz Tomahawk Steak Medium Rare and added a Lobster Tail It Comes with Mashed potatoes, Asparagus, Onion Rings and a Mushroom Garni. For dessert we did the Espresso Martins and Lava Cake With Cappuccino Ice Cream on top. Service was great and the owner was a nice guy coming and introducing himself and asking how everything was. Will definitely be back again 10/10

Heard about 88 Charles Street Restaurant from a friend. We had an excellent dining experience here tonight. We were seated in a beautifully decorated dining room and welcomed by an excellent waiter named Ryan who provided excellent service from making excellent recommendations to making us feel special. The owner came over and welcomed us and checked in on us during our meal. The restaurant was comfortable and super clean. The food was excellent and the presentation on point. Although I didn't have an opportunity to go into the bar area it looked quite comfortable for a drink.

I have visited 88 a couple times and have had an amazing experience every time. They go above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied. Last night I was served by Matt who was great. I ordered the Tomahawk Steak which was prepped by Matt in front of the table and was outstanding. The bartender Liz was a natural behind the bar making some fresh cocktails that tasted amazing. Loved her vibe and knowledge of drinks. 10/10 would recommend this place.

Really delicious! Looking forward to coming back again.

WOW, the experience of this restaurant is refreshing! From the service to ambience to the food. Came in this past Friday night and had an incredible meal. The tomahawk was cooked perfectly and the quality speaks for itself. The service and hospitality stood out just as much, great energy behind the bar and throughout the room. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the atmosphere, but this one does. We arrived at a very busy time. Nice friendly atmosphere, people shifted around so we could take a seat. Liz, the bartender is personality plus. We go for the great food and a visit with Liz. She is fun and amazing and efficient. The restaurant could be packed yet you feel as if you are her priority. The owners are always present and want to interact with all the guests. Everyone is so friendly. The presentation and taste of the dishes are superb.

Service and food were excellent..Typical prices for quality food..Tomahawk steaks were beautifully finished tableside..I gave a 4 star only because at first we got a table in the outdoor covered patio, it had butane heaters blasting but we were still freezing tent side..they eventually asked if we wanted to move inside once a table opened up, thankfully. With drinks, appetizers, entree and desserts came to over$650..plus tip. But we all felt the service and food were excellent!! The owners and chefs came by checking throughout the evening if everything was to satisfactory..which it was..Definitely will be back...

We have a wonderful dinner .They were all decorated for Halloween and the tables had beautiful orand roses . We were on the patio which had tent sides and heaters with made the area very confortable .The food was delicious and our server was wo derful .She knew all the specials and was very knowledgeable about the menu .She checked on us often to make sure everything was okay. I also like the fact that the owner or manager walked around to ask people how their dinner was and did they have everything they needed. It was a lovely experience. We have been here multiple times and we havent been disappointed yet .

De postre se les acabó el pastel fundido (que es el postre favorito de mi novio), pero nos dieron una tarta de queso, que no nos gusta mucho, ¡pero la tarta de queso estaba increíble, debo decir! En general, fue una experiencia increíble y volveré. Primera vez aquí. Mi esposa y yo vinimos esta noche para celebrar nuestro décimo aniversario. Quedamos absolutamente impresionados con la experiencia. Anoche fuimos a cenar al restaurante 88 Charles St y fue una experiencia absolutamente fantástica de principio a fin. El servicio fue fenomenal, los cócteles especiales estaban deliciosos y nuestros platos principales estaban para chuparse los dedos. Mi prometida pidió el risotto de filet mignon, mientras que yo opté por un fletán especial de esa noche. Ambos estaban cocinados a la perfección y las porciones eran bastante generosas. Nuestra única pega fue que cuando pedimos una margarita normal, estaba fatal: solo comían sour mix, por desgracia. Sin embargo, no pasó lo mismo con ninguno de sus cócteles especiales y el camarero se encargó de ello enseguida. Este lugar es un poco caro, así que lo consideraremos más bien para ocasiones especiales. En cualquier caso, vale la pena visitarlo si buscas comida deliciosa.

Tuvimos una cena maravillosa. Todo estaba decorado para Halloween y las mesas tenían hermosas rosas naranjas. Went for lunch. Very quiet at lunch time, friendly service and the food was great. It seemed a bit pricey for lunch but the food was great!!!

Be prepared, if they ask you for water, they offer bottled or sparkling; both which costs $. I did not know that. Ask for tap. As far as the atmosphere; it's not homey, comforting; more like commercial dining. Husband got French fries with his $24 hamburger and they were cold and over-cooked. They did replace them. I must say the staff was very attentive.

LOVED the appetizer and dessert but the filet mignon was over cooked and mashed potatoes were bland. Our waitress seemed rushed but the other wait staff I saw seemed very attentive to their patrons.

Ate @ 88 tonight and the food was excellent! Kenny, our server was polite, attentive and helpful. The calamari was delicious, the burger so moist and bursting with flavor! The bacon, finely chopped and topped the burger perfectly. The tagliatelle with braised short rib equally didn’t disappoint either. Cocktails were superb. HOWEVER….i asked for a quiet table, was almost on the musicians lap. There seemed to have been a bit of a mess up on reservations.. they were carrying in tables and chairs to accommodate us and other guests. Didn’t appreciate the tomahawk steak for the nearby table of 10, being set aglow right by MY shoulder !

Coconut shrimps, chicken cordon bleu and fettuccini carbonara 😍👍❤ Update: so I had to take away 2 stars because the last time we went, my boyfriend and I, got sick. We are not sure if was the water or the food but as soon as we got home it was really bad. We ordered eggaplant parmigiana and some chicken (picatta or cardinal I forgot). Thanks God my daughters didn't drink the water neither ate our food. So they were good. I'm not sure if we would eat here again.

Was very disappointed in the fried calamari. It was sweet,cherry and in appetizing. It was drizzled in a balsamic vinaigrette glaze.no marinara sauce.could only chew a couple pieces rest90% left on plate. Now the main course was very good.my grandaughter had the salmon,she loved it, I had broccoli rabe with sausage and pasta. Service was efficent..no salt or pepper on any tables. Oh the tiny roll they served was delicious wish there was some to go with the dinner One more thing,very LIMITED menu

We had a lovely dinner here. The pianist was a highlight. After dark, the ambiance is very lovely. They were able to accommodate a rather large group of us for dinner. Their entrees were expensive for the area and for what they were - about $23 to $30 per entree. The service was friendly if not refined. They did not get my order correct, but quickly fixed it. The eggplant parm was good, not great. (I've had better at my local italian diner for $14.99.) My sister did not like her duck. The portions were generous. I found the fried zucchini appetizer to be a bit limp and over-oily and the stuffed mushrooms were watery. All that said, we still had a great evening. Overall it is a very nice choice for the area if you're looking for a slightly upscale, yet still very homey evening. Go for the ambiance.

Recently, I went to dinner here with family. I'm giving the restaurant 3 stars based on the food I had. The service and the ambiance were lovely. Our waiter was very busy but showered us with lots of attention, so it wasn't noticeable unless you really paid attention to how busy he was. He was very good. The restaurant was immaculate. The food options were good. But my soup and dinner choice felt like they were missing seasoning, and that was disappointing because it could've been a 5 star rating.

Bad acoustics - very noisy but wasn’t that busy. Unintentionally disingenuous?… the iPad menus only showed the “Holiday Menu” which had significantly higher priced items. Spent $370 for 6 people ordering nothing exotic, no drinks, no appetizers, no dessert… felt scammy. On the bright side the food was outstanding- prime rib, veal, crab encrusted cod - all fabulous. May or may not return.

The food is amazing. Prices are very reasonable. Ryan and Dillon did a great job as servers too. Unfortunately the restaurant hits you for an illegal surcharge for payment by credit card so we won't be going back. It's sad because we travel through Montgomery often.

We've tried 88 a few times and want to like it, however the menu is limited and we usually end up ordering their pasta dishes and we just have found them to be underwhelming. We were told they serve homemade pasta, but also that they dont make it in house. The texture of the pasta just isnt quite right and their sauce aint great.

The first time we went, food was very nice. My husband and I decided to have the tomahawk next time which we did the following week. I need to say that was very disappointing 😞 dry and flavorless specially for $155 meal. I would never order it again. It's not worth it! However, the other dishes we tried were good. The octopus, grilled chicken and fried calamari was very nice.

I’ve been so excited for this place to open. Giving it two stars based on my first experience there (they’re new… hopefully some of the kinks we experienced will be ironed out after they’re open for a bit longer?) and will plan on visiting again / will update my review then. Drinks- We had two cocktails, one was a cosmo that came with cotton candy on top. Cool presentation but it was the sweetest drink, not a nice blend of flavors, just a very syrupy sweet cocktail. The mule was super sweet as well. We ordered three beers and each came out with at least 1.5 inches of foam. The burger was ordered medium and came out well done. It was super dry and flavorless and served on a stale bun. The pasta dish was a very small portion with a super unappetizing presentation. The noodles were precooked and pretty mushy and the flavors were nothing special. Not sure how they justify the prices they charge. Our waitress was great. The restaurant has a nice vibe. I’ll try again in a few months to see how it has changed after they’ve had some time to get the hang of things.

This place used to be my #1 place. We would always love the Tomahawk steak that came out, beautiful presentation with the flame and serving to you. Plus their espresso martinis were the best I've ever had. But unfortunately I don't think we will return. We had recommended my family to go and to take their friends out as a thank you for a favor. We called the restaurant secretly to prepay for desserts and drinks and THEY NEVER BROUGHT THEM. terrible. Our family friends ended up leaving the state the next day so it's not like we could go back and get it another time. But because this had been our favorite place, we understood that things happen and continued to enjoy good meals here. We just went out for a girls night to celebrate my bachelorette dinner and the service could not have been worse. My party called ahead to reserve a nice table and informing them it was my bachelorette. We qere seated ne t to the door with all customers standing over us and the draft keeping our coats on. It took 45 minutes to get a drink, and our drink order was completely wrong. They were out of the appetizers we wanted and the food was just eh. Being served our dinners about 15 minutes apart from eachother..we were constantly looking for the waitors to order other drinks or sides which took forever. I have never had such a terrible experience here. When we did say something we were accommodated better but honestly this was 2x for me with really bad mistakes on service, I don't think I'll be back.

Unfortunately I’m leaving a low rated review on my experience because of how my friend and I were just given delayed service the whole time. When we got there we got water, then we waited 20 min to see if a server was going to greet us. Had to stop a server walking by to ask if anyone was going to come. The host came up and asked if our server has come yet? So about 8 min later a guy comes out to take orders. Then dinner came out separately which bothered me because I was waiting for my friend’s dish to come out and it didn’t for a while. I have manners and don’t like to eat till everyone is served. It should be at the same time, we both got the same type of meal so i didn’t understand that. When her dish came out it was a “sorry we didn’t forget about you.” Then dessert same thing it was delayed for a while and they did say sorry for the wait. Maybe it was a rough night, I’m not sure, I wasn’t full house there when we walked in. I just felt “forgotten” the whole process. I won’t be going back. I always tip 20% and more when I go out. This is the first time I’ve ever left less than 20%. The staff was not rude but I just felt like we didn’t matter as I looked around and observed how others were being served. I have no desire to give them a second chance.

Two stars because the cost is not worth the service. Dear Kenny, get another job -- one where you are not providing a service to others. Not only was I not the only one freezing & denied to changed the air conditioning direction (which takes all but a button on a remote), but also was told to order drinks at the bar because it was too much for you.. SMH. And for goodness sake, smile. Everything else was great -- highly recommend the branzino & short rib stuffed ravioli, and the cheese, bacon, peppers app .. wow. Don't get Kenny, enjoy !

Do not waste your time going to this restaurant. We were visiting from miami and ordered the octopus (4/10) and the fried eggplant (3/10) for appetizers and we had to leave because the food was not great. We lost our appetite. We also ordered some cocktails (5/10). We had to drive all the way to Texas Roadhouse to have a great steak night. Note: the server not even recommended the steaks that were not part of the menu. I do not recommend this place

Went the today and have been there before. Hard time finding a handicapped parking spot due to another event going on in the town. Walked my wife up the stairs in front ( she has a hard time due to her disability) and went inside. They told us it was closed due to a private party. I asked why they didn't have a sign out front so we would not have tried to get in. I don't know who the guy was but he said " we don't need to put a sign up". We'll, we don't need to go their anymore. So rude.
