Oliver's Mount Tremper Reviews
Oliver’s at Howland House near Woodstock, NY, is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The food is simply delicious—every dish is thoughtfully prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients and bursting with flavor. Ask about their special dessert! The setting is beautiful, blending rustic charm with elegance, and you can tell every detail has been carefully curated to create a warm and memorable dining experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Oliver’s is a must-visit. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy this incredible spot again!
Oliver’s is such a special place. We came here for my wife’s 30th birthday. Fantastic drinks, even better food. Make sure you try the pies and the bangers and mash. after dinner you can play a game of pool, they have a beautiful table. High recommend for anyone 10/10
We popped in to Oliver’s in need of quick wifi access and came back the same night for dinner. What a wonderful discovery! The food was absolutely delicious - as fans of the Great British Baking Show, we were highly impressed with the pastry in the hand pies, and the fillings were so tasty as well. The grilled cheese was so satisfying and the chicken pot pie was the perfect amount of savory comfort. Possibly even better than the food were the staff - cannot emphasize how welcoming, friendly, kind and attentive they are. It was an all around really great experience and we will definitely be back.
The Graham & Co team recommended this place for dinner and I'm so glad I went! Great beer, wine, and liquor selection. Friendly, upbeat staff. I got the Crispy Fingerling Potatoes (needs more aioli) for a starter and the Housemade Mafalde Pasta as a main (pictured). Lovely back patio with a firepit and a nice front patio (faces the parking lot) to enjoy an evening out. Cant' wait to come back! Thanks!
Oliver's was excellent! On Wednesday they had their pop-up menu. We ordered kale salad with sliced fruit, gyoza, and ramen (pictured). Food and service was great. We also got takeout another night and had hand pies (amazing), autumn salad, and fingerling potatoes. Again, everything was delicious. The bar and restaurant were clean and cozy. Can't say much more. Go and find out for yourself
I wish I had taken a picture of the ramen me and my daughter had last night. Broth was perfectly seasoned, the meat was tender and juicy, veggies were crunchy and noodles were chewy and fresh. Wednesday is the new Friday and we will definitely be back next week! Service was lovely and atmosphere and lighting are warm and inviting. We are so lucky to have such a gem in our area!!
Lovely service from bartender and owners. Friendly and helpful with recommendations. Got a wide variety of food but if I had to pick a must try it would definitely be the pasta - it was phenomenal! Will definitely come back when I'm in the area.
One of my new favorite restaurants! I’ve been itching to go and it did not disappoint. The whole experience was perfect, from the smell of the wood burning in the fireplace to the wafts of savory bites coming from the kitchen. My spring pea and asparagus cavatelli and bourbon sour were amazing! I highly recommend making the stop and return.
All I have to say is WHOA - this was an incredible, surprising meal. To begin we had the fingerling potatoes, which were super crispy and nicely seasoned. Next we had the Mushroom Mafalde and Chicken Pot Pie. The mafalde pasta was al dente, as it should be, with a creamy & delectable mushroom sauce. The chicken pot pie (mislabeled on the menu as Turkey) was not a traditional pot pie; it was a bolognese, which sounded so-so, and was actually fantastic. The espresso martinis were the best I’ve ever had - bar none. Overall menu options were quite good. I found service to be lacking, but the ambiance and food easily makes up for that small shortcoming. Strongly recommended!

We had the greatest meal, cocktails, and service at Oliver’s this past weekend. It was so good on Friday night, that we also went back Saturday night. Order the hand pies, winter salad, Tunisian Lamb Stew, and focaccia and your taste buds will be delighted. Don’t forget to get a chocolate spoon, or two, or three for dessert, the best bite of both evenings! The ambience was simply perfection, attached to a 10 room inn, with great staff, and competitive pricing. Simply put, go to Oliver’s for a great evening!
While not one to typically leave a review, Oliver’s abundantly deserves it. Without question the best meal we’ve had in the area, with fantastic cocktails and a lovely ambiance to boot. Strong shout out for the chicken pot pie and steak and kidney pie. No knock, to be sure, on some of the great other eateries in the area (we know it’s hard sledding bridging the sleepy workweeks and dreary seasons as a business owner…especially off the comparatively bustling main drag on Tinker Street / Mill Hill), but the place is standout and certain to become a regular haunt.
What a lovely somewhat-hidden gem! Warm and cozy atmosphere, super efficient, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The mushrooms over polenta were delicious, fresh and flavorful and my husband devoured the bangers and mash. Jill was super knowledgeable about the wine list. Can’t wait to return!
We stumbled upon Oliver’s to escape the snow and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere captivated us—it felt like an old English bar with a cozy, traditional charm, but there was something special about it that made it hard to leave. For drinks we enjoyed the Alpine Negroni and a glass of the Cabernet/Merlot blend The food was absolutely incredible. We found ourselves wanting to try everything on the menu! We started with the hand pies and the homemade focaccia, which was heavenly. Even the marinated olives were a delightful surprise. For mains, the special butternut squash mafalde pasta stole the show for me, while the lamb bangers and mash were hearty and satisfying. Dessert was the perfect finishing touch to an already amazing meal—we left completely stuffed but blissfully happy. I can’t recommend this spot enough—if you’re in the area, make sure to stop by. Whether for a casual evening or a special occasion, Oliver’s delivers on all fronts. We’ll definitely be back!
Oliver’s is an amazing find in the Catskills. The cocktails are spot on. I tried the Jilly and the Catskills Sour and both were delicious, complex, and perfectly balanced. The food was also incredible. I had the cavatelli and could tell the pasta was made in house. It was cooked to perfection and was nicely chewy. Don’t skip the truffle at the end! Delicious and so affordable, just the bite you want at the end of a meal. Both the cocktail and food menus are seasonal, so I’m looking forward to going back and trying new things. The atmosphere is also great—everyone was friendly and the service was quick. To top it off, there’s a great outdoor patio, which I will be enjoying in the warmer weather!
We had the most wonderful dinner at Oliver’s — warm and welcoming, with delicious cocktails and food. Such a charming spot. We’ll definitely be back!
We were touring through the area on bikes. Found this place by mistake. What a great mistake! All the food was amazing. Made in house and very fresh. Hand pies, bolognese, and chicken pot pie were all fantastic. Eva was our bartender and she had a great personality, super friendly, and very accommodating. Wish we were local, but next time we’re in the area we’ll certainly come back.
Very down-to-earth , friendly staff. Menu is full of elevated comfort food that still felt adventurous and playful. Solid cocktails exquisitely prepared.
What a lovely spot for a family meal. My husband and I were warmly welcomed after our long drive from NYC into this little culinary oasis. The calm, classy, yet comfortable atmosphere is excellent for whether you are dining/drinking solo at the bar or with loved ones around a table. The prices are very reasonable and you cannot go wrong with any option from the thoughtful menu. We ordered four or five dishes to share as a family and each one had a specialness to it that really left our tastebuds inspired. It's the kind of menu that you want to try to copy and make yourself but you know you won't be able to make it as nice as the chefs do at Oliver's! We loved the cocktails we ordered and we even made buddies with some people who wanted to play a round of pool with us in the lovely room with the fireplace. Good times!

A lovely warm and intimate neighborhood bar comes with it lovely little plates and heartier entrees. My wife and I didn't get a chance to try Oliver's the first time we were here so we had to check it out during the proclaimed mud season. Enjoyed the hand pies plus our entrees, the lamb bangers and mash and French onion grilled cheese! Our bartenders were very on top of things and service on point. Nice drink menu with a bit of options for everyone and bottle + draft beer including local breweries.
Oliver’s is a new restaurant in an old renovated hotel building that kept a whole lot of its charm on the outside and inside too. The floors look to be the original! They have just opened and they are still working on renovating the main dining room from what I could see when I looked in the windows afterwards. Service was friendly and effective for such a small crew - host, bartender, 1 bus boy, and some in the kitchen. All the tables were numbered and you have to order at the bar. I presume this is either temporary or a solution for the bar seating area of the soon to be full restaurant. I admit, I would have liked full service but I have to give them wiggle room for just opening up very recently. The food was pretty dang good, and we had the fresh cavatelli, chicken pot pie and the lamb banger (not pictured). The food portions were reasonable and not oversized at all - we admit to have probably wanted one more banger as it only came with one to begin with for the $23 price tag but then it probably would have been even more expensive as they do make them in house as well. Overall, a charming experience and felt good to support a local restaurant. The vibes were immaculate and 10 out of 5 if I could! Excellent drink menu, excellent wine menu, and really great spot for a date in my opinion! I would probably go back in 2-3 months as they work everything out, keep up the great work!!

Great hand pies and atmosphere for people without children. The Gilly drink is 11/10 delicious. Other menu items like the pastas were undercooked and under seasoned. It feels hit or miss whenever we eat here. You need to order everything at the bar, and it can start to feel like you’re waiting your own table if ordering more than a few items. Could be family friendly, but I’m not sure they want to be as there are no high chairs or kid leaning games in the parlor room (fair enough not everyone needs to accommodate children & some people prefer adult only spaces). If dining with kids, try Foxfire Mountain House or The Pines instead, who seem more accommodating & have table and bar service.
