Limón Mountain View Reviews
We had lovely dinner at Limon. The restaurant was super busy, however the table outside was nice alternative. Delicious food, great service (good recommendation by the waitress).
The food here is delicious and clearly made with fresh ingredients. We were seated right away without having reservations, although we had to sit outside because the indoor dining area was full even on a weekday. The servers were very quick and helpful. I personally really liked the Fiesta Platter which allowed us to try a lot of the popular appetizers without getting too full. I would love to come back and try more dishes in the future!
I cannot sing enough praises. reserved a table for 6.30 pm and we did not have to wait. Had dinner on Wednesday night here and it did not disappoint. You have to try their Ceviche, super flavorful and well balanced with just enough spice to get your juices flowing. Fried Shrimp starter was amazing too. I had the whole friend fish for the entree and wow! the entire meal was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. We also had the octopus (Tasty!) and a seafood platter too. servings are good and quality of food is great. Next date night is definitely here. I had a virgin cocktail which was also great! highly recommend!
Amazing food, great staff and ambiance!! Quick stop for lunch if you’re in a hurry but quality is top notch. I always like the octopus 🐙 but they’ve got some new things on the menu to keep it fresh and new. Drinks are amazing! We love Anthony - our favorite server!! And although we don’t see the chefs - we are grateful for their expertise in the kitchen and gracing us with their delicious food!!!!
Came here for drinks on a Wednesday night and it was way busier than I expected even past 9pm. The whole place has a date-night vibe with dim lighting that makes it feel pretty upscale, like somewhere you’d come for a fancy dinner or a special night out. We ordered the ponche and the bomba del amor, and both cocktails were amazing. Very sweet, very boozy. The kind of drinks you sip slowly because you can actually feel them. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and one small thing I really appreciated was seeing the wait staff actively sanitizing the menus, it made the place feel really well-maintained. Would absolutely come back, especially for drinks before or after dinner.
Our dad hit the big 85 and after being taken out to eat many times by other friends and family, he insisted that he did not want any more Asian food. So... the sister chose Limon out of Mtn. View on Castro where she and I had worked as teens in a previous life. So in many ways, it was like returning to home. Limon is Peruvian Seafood and after being robbed of a trip to Peru that was cut short, I guess my sister wanted to revisit the cuisine. So this is where Mom, Dad, Sis1 and I went. I'll keep this succinct because it's late and I don't want to type too much. We came for lunch on a Tuesday and had no issues getting a seat. There were patrons but the venue was not crowded. When being seated, as a party we were a bit.. fidgety and the staff was extremely patient and accommodated all of our quirks and asks, including moving tables to get us out of the bright glare of a window side seat to one that had more light shade. Know that the tables near the windows are elevated so not standard table height and are like bar tables but not as high. The tables on the main floor are standard height. There is also outside dining available. The food was fabulous. Steak, Plantains, Octopus wonderfully plated, Fried Fish beautifully presented, truffle Mac and Cheese, clam and shrimp... Paella? (can't be right). And the Ceviche was unique with fish, squid, corn and very tasty and refreshing. Even paired it all with Peruvian beer which was very light and went well with a seafood meal. We had 3 sauces, a green, orange and Chimichurri of which I liked the green the best as it was spicy. Not spicy for a fire eater but it had a decent kick for good character. The Chimichurri was not impressive by my standards but my sis says it was good so I'll take her word for it. Have a look at the pics associated with this review and you will see them in all their glory. There was not a single sad dish in our set. I know I am not providing a whole lot of detail, but everything was good to the point where I cannot nitpick about any of them. The deserts were also really good but I understand the custard looking one we had was a bit more dense than others of this same kind. The Tres Leches was moist and delightful. And did you see that B-day presentation? I won't talk about the atmosphere which was lovely, clean, modern and bright. Nice place to be. I didn't know what Peruvian food was before Limon. I would do it again. You should do it, too. Price is higher than your average dining so be prepared. Even then, this is a worthy treat for the cost.
Really good fried rice, plaintains, and beef short ribs! Crispy pork belly was too tough. Nice service (2 birthdays at 2 tables near us, the staff sang happy birthday to them), and upscale ambience (most people were dressed nicely). Seating at our table had really high chairs - they were hard to move / adjust.
Had a great experience at Limon! The waiter was polite and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Some dishes were a bit on the salty side, but overall, everything was flavorful and well-prepared. Love this place and will definitely be coming back!
Great Peruvian place in this busy street full of options. We went with a large party and got a sort of private space. Service was quick. The food was delicious - the ceviches were top notch. We also did the surf and turf option - flat iron steak with Lobster tail which were both great. Will set you back about $100 per person.
We had a good experience at Limón. The staff was friendly and helpful, and with a reservation for our group of four, we were seated right away. We chose the outdoor seating, which was comfortable and a bit quieter than inside. The food was tasty, though a little on the pricey side. My favorites were the Lomo Saltado and the Anticuchos de Pollo. Overall, we all enjoyed our meal and had a nice time at Limón.
This was our first time here. We came for lunch. The food was excellent and came out very fast. The decor is lovely ( seating is a bit tight in some areas). We got a ceviche and a dish. Both were very flavorful and well cooked. Good portions for the price as well. Beer was good, but the slushie was not - it had coconut which was not mentioned in the description. Only downside was that they seemed to be a bit understaffed as it appeared that one waiter was taking care of the majority of the restaurant. It took a long time to get our check at the end of the meal.
The ceviche here is so good! The service was great and the ambiance was upscale and professional. Really liked the vibes. We just ordered various ceviches, appetizers, and empanadas and it filled all of us up. The empanadas were tasty. The Anticuchos de Pollo (marinated grilled chicken skewers) were great as well. The Brussels sprouts and polli-papas were a hit. But the highlight was definitely the ceviche… so good. Pricing...well let’s just say I’m glad corporate fronted the bill as it was a pretty expensive place to eat!
First time being at this restaurant. We ordered a deep fried seafood (JALEA), a half rotisserie chicken, and a seafood paella (ARROZ CON MARISCOS) - The deep fried seafood tasted good and not too oily. The chicken thigh and drumstick were also delicious, but the breast was a bit too dry; The paella (they don't call it as such by the way) was good too, the portion isn't as big as you would see at other restaurant, but I would say it is enough for 2 - 4 adults if you intend to share all dishes. We could find better taste of each individual dishes elsewhere, but to find them all in one restaurant is probably not that easy. All 3 dishes plus 2 drinks came in total $99+tax+gratuity, which isn't cheap for 2 people. We could've just ordered 2 dishes instead, but we thought we gave it a good try. Overall, the food is considered good, it is a solid 4 stars, but I won't give it 5 stars. The waiter was super nice and friendly, the service should deserve 5 stars!! This restaurant is quite popular in the area, we were there without reservation, so we were given the choice of either at the bar or outdoor dining spot. In summary, we have not yet found a good reason we would come back again any time soon. if we do, we probably would try out some other dishes and the seafood paella is probably the one we would order again.!!
Do I love fish? Yes. Do I love limes/lemons? Yes. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant which our server kindly informed me has been open >2 years. This location on Castro has changed a few times so I was curious. The sauces for all three dishes were bold, fierce and fresh. Loved them. The fried fish (Jalea) was the 5-star plate of our weekday lunch. Tender, moist, crisp and light batter. The fried chicken was probably the worst (2-stars, but I gobbled it up to get my protein). Dry, stringy, chewy. Yuca fries accompanied both appetizers. The signature ceviche was good but not great value for price at $30, IMHO. Presentation and taste was 4-stars, though. I can see how this place is fun for a friend meet-up, after-work happy hour, etc. Loved the jungle-y bathrooms.
Okish food.. having just returned from Peru I was expecting better vegetarian choices. The vegetarian saltado was ok just a bunch of veggies stir fried with soy sauce.. the appetizer cauliflower was good. The salad was ok. Empanadas were good. Service was nice and helpful. Food was brought out super quickly and all at the same time which was good and bad. Would have preferred some spacing out of dishes.
This was my first-time experience at Limon in Mountain View, and unfortunately, the service completely ruined it. The first issue was being upcharged for items we did not order. We were charged for taro chips that we genuinely thought came with the ceviche, as they were presented that way and not clarified as an extra. On top of that, we specifically came for happy hour, yet were not given happy hour pricing, even though the items we ordered were on the HH menu. The bigger issue was the service. After taking our order, the waitress disappeared for about 40 minutes. No check-ins, no follow-up. We eventually had to flag someone else down just to get our bill. When she finally returned, she had a dismissive, Gen-Z-style attitude, as if we were the inconvenience. Bottom line: you really need to review your bill here, because it feels like transparency and customer service are not a priority. For Peruvian food, I’d honestly recommend Emelina’s in Sunnyvale instead — better service, more reasonable pricing, and a true hidden gem. I won’t be returning here.
A friend and I were here to lunch. The food was ok, but the service was very lacking.. The waitor pretty much ignored us the whole time. The platano frito was good The Jalea was pretty good Arroz con Mariscos was ok The crispy pork belly was not crispy. Not impress with the Beef Empanadas We asked for check and pack left over. He asked how many boxes? But he never return with any box. While we see other wait staff take away the left over dishes to pack for the other customers. After another 10min of nothing, we asked another staff and she finally took our dishes to pack. Then another 10min before the check come. For the price of the restaurant, just not impress with the services!
We had a great first experience, which is why we decided to come back. My husband was genuinely craving the food, so we drove 30 40 minutes specifically to dine here again. Unfortunately, the second visit was a complete disappointment. After being seated, no one acknowledged us at all no greeting, no water, no we’ll be right with you,” nothing. We waited 15 20 minutes with zero interaction. For a restaurant that positions itself as upscale and charges premium prices, this level of service is simply unacceptable. Eventually, we had no choice but to leave. I even called the manager afterward to see if there was any attempt to make things right. I explained that I was still nearby and would have been open to coming back. The response was extremely unprofessional—no real solution, no accountability, just repeated apologies and an inability to clearly communicate. It honestly felt like no one cared. If you’re going to charge high-end prices, you need to deliver high end customer service. Long waits without acknowledgment, poor communication, and lack of professionalism are not acceptable. Sadly, this experience completely overshadowed what was once a good first impression.
