Firewood Murphys Reviews
Firewood in Murphys is one of our go-to spots, and we come in specifically for the smash burgers. They are absolutely amazing. You can taste the quality in every bite. The atmosphere is light, relaxed, and welcoming, and the people working there are always genuinely friendly. It’s the kind of place where you can just hang out, take your time, and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed. What really sets Firewood apart is the quality of this ground beef. It is local and incredibly clean. You can tell real care goes into it. Knowing the owner raises his own cattle makes it even better, and it shows in the flavor and consistency of the burgers. Friendly, comfortable, high-quality, and local. Firewood is exactly what you want in a Murphys spot. Highly recommended.
Always a great experience. Can be a tad busy due to popularity. And yes - oddly for a place in the mountains - greatest fish tacos!
We had pizza, salad and chips with guacamole. The pizza was great. They accidently made the wrong pizza... said "you ordered something different." They gave us the wrong pizza and then baked the one we ordered.
I was craving their fish and chips and had to stop by for dinner to get it. Never fails to amaze me. How well these guys take care of you. Food is always awesome. The only thing is the noise level but other than that everything is awesome. Thank you guys!
Been going there for quite some time now and they never once disappointed us. From pizza, to burgers, chicken strips and fries to Baja fish tacos everything we've ordered always hit the spot. With inflation everything has gone up and it's a bit pricey. We ordered pizza, 8 tacos, one plain cheeseburger with fries, chicken strip with fries, 2 beers and 2 sodas. Came out to $120. But food is always good. Be sure to ask for their green sauce to put on the Baja tacos. Other than the price customer service is good. It's clean there and great atmosphere. Also have tvs to view sports games. Definitely family friendly and Dog friendly. Got my Dad into this place years back and he even introduces people to thus spot because it's so good. We make the 1.5hr trip just for their fish tacos. There's also a water stream going through the area the kids can play in and also a park. Great place to hang out for the day.
Great food....takes a while to get your order placed, but it comes out really fast. The place is very compact and busy. Their pizza is amazing and beer on tap is pretty good. The other food around us looked pretty good too. If it's around lunch time, it is hard to snag a table. Just prepare for a wait in line and possibly not getting a table, in case you have small children or hAngry members in your party! Most of the people working here are pretty helpful.
My son had a soccer game here one day and a friend from work recommended that I come to this restaurant afterwards. Man the food here really hit the spot. It is a bit pricey in my opinion but you get a lot for your money. They beers on Tap are epic. Highly recommended the Snowshoe beer. Although I live 2 and a half hours away, I want to visit this town more often. Old mining looking towns are the best.
Good food, but we had to wait in line for a long time before we could order. (We got there at peak dinner-time.) Still, it was a good experience, and my entire family enjoyed our meal.
Great place to stop after some snowplay or hiking. Nice selection of food options, especially if you have a group of kiddos.
It's a pizza place with great pizza. Tacos and burgers were moderate but to be expected when they're better known for their pizza. Food came out fast, and the staff was very helpful. Comfortable atmosphere dim lighting second floor was nice and warm on a cold day which was nice. However, the first floor has much more space.
Very average food and service. Ordered burritos and a pizza. The pizza was much better than anything else. Fun ambiance during ski season with a lot of people out and about on the street. Will be trying somewhere else next time
Beef in the mushroom burger was dry and barely tasted any mushrooms. The beef in the super taco dish was also dry and not tasty. Probably should have gotten the pizza based on the other reviews.
Decent place to have a meal, burger or pizza? I think the pizza got the edge. Do keep track with larger orders, they might forgot some items that you ordered, at least for my personal experience. 2 unisex bathrooms and more seating upstairs. There was a faint smell of urine the last time I visited, I suspected it was from the front entrance.
Not a terrible place to eat but I will definitely try other places the next time I'm in town. The pizza was the greasiest I've ever seen, I've never had to blot the grease off of a pizza the way I did here. The staff was helpful but also acted like I should have known where the plates and condiments were and that I should have known the servers bring your food but won't bring plates and silverware.
Cool looking place; had a decent meal but nothing to get overly excited about. Great views out window, nice cooling breeze came in when they opened the roll up door. Wood fired pizza looked pretty good. My chicken burrito was big, but wasn't rolled great. Good but not amazing. My mom had chicken tacos, also just good'ish.
The atmosphere was enjoyable provided the chill atmosphere. The pizza was good. The pizza sauce needs more depth in flavor, but the fresh basil compensated for it. The cashier was on her phone scrolling looking down as she would take the orders for some of the customers (a suggestion is better supervision of that employee for personal cell phone usage due to compromising customer service). I wasn’t expecting top notch service from this restaurant provided the ambience seems very relaxed, but very confident they probably forgetting tourism comes in to this town for an experience and its charm. One can’t give a five stars when the first experience is a cashier that is half ignoring its customers.
Their food is not awful but definitely overpriced. Expect to wait, and be prepared for a bunch of high school kids who can't be bothered to help you with anything. They forgot to make our pizza, the cashier tried to argue until the manager came over and showed her our receipt and started making the pizza. It came out eventually, about 30 minutes after all the other food. The fish burrito was almost entirely beans and rice, and served with maybe 15 chips. Not worth the 11.50. The guy with a peach fuzz moustache was definitely stoned and looked completely lost. The upstairs is unbelievably stuffy and the downstairs is very crowded. Not a place for large groups. *update* After their response, I have to say maybe its tune time to close down. Keep hiring high school stoners..
Terrible pizza. Burnt on top and soggy on the bottom. Sauce has a very poor flavor. They didn’t give us one of our pizzas for half an hour and messed up the other one. AND a couple brought their barking dog inside and an employee asked if it was a service dog and when they said no the employee STILL let it sit there and bark and pull at its leash. There were other dogs inside too! Gross all around!!!
Waited over a half hour for a taco and an order of chicken strips and fries. While at the counter asking about the food I ordered I saw a worker drop a towel on the ground and picked it up putting it back on the counter where pizza is prepared. It used to be a good place to eat, I'm not so sure anymore
We had late lunch here on a Sunday in November. I got the Impossible burger and that was the last real meal I could eat for the next three days. I didn't have any other food outside of our house that day, and I was the only one from our party who had stomach problems afterwards. Firewood had been our go-to place in Murphys for many many years, but no more. This was the last time I ate here.
