Sushi Haku Napa Reviews
This is 4th place I've tried Sushi in a tri- county area... by far my favorite. The fish was super fresh. Nice and firm like it should be. Can taste individual flavors of salmon, ahi, etc. Fresh and delicious. Will definately be back. Staff was very attentive and gave us great service.. my only negative.. is they need to clean the clutter up. Totes stacked by doorways to patio. Supplies all over.. they need to put there things away. It was clean and they disinfected tables etc. well.. just dont understand why with such Great food they would have it so cluttered and fountain barely working on patio. Makes it look like they dont care. But food is bomb..
Had a great meal at Sushi Haku! Great flavors, portion sizes were filling, and excellent service for a table of 8. My daughter had the beef teriyaki plate, which took a bit longer to prepare as they had lost one of their sushi chefs. I had the Super Dragon Ball and the Super California Roll. Yum! Everyone enjoyed their selections. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend when you’re in the mood for some tasty sushi…😋
We’ve been dining here for the past 5 years. Food has always been excellent. Service has always been prompt and friendly. Kat is usually the person that serves us and she has always been great. Super relatable and always giving us her grounded experiences. Food has been excellent but we’ve noticed the care and presentation go up within the past year. We’re super basic and as long as the food and service is good, we’re fine with it. The extra care to their dishes has been noticeable and really adds to the experience. We’re really loving the direction the place has been taking this past year and we’re happy to see the improvements.
We really enjoyed the veggie sushi And the salmon dinner. There are options for vegetarians and meat eaters at this restaurant. The food was delicious and we will be back.
So delicious! Good service!
This is a great spot for sushi! The service was very fast and the waitress was friendly. The quality of the fish was quite good and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. The prices seemed very reasonable. I would certainly come back!
The sushi rolls were awesome!
I ordered a to go order and they were very quick. I only waited about 10 minutes. The food was delicious and packed well. They have an outside eating area and an indoor eating area. It is a little small inside but has that family friendly feeling. There were lots of families eating with kids.
Delicious!! So worth it to go here. The sushi rolls were huge! Atmosphere was very relaxed. Staff was awesome!! I will definitely go back the next time I am in Napa.
Our food and service were both sublime. I can't remember our waiter's name, but this was the first time we'd seen him there and he had great upbeat energy, very friendly and professional.
One of the best Sushi restaurants I've eaten at. The food quality is impeccable. The staff and Chef's are very friendly and welcoming. My wife and I had a great meal. I highly recommend the Spicy Dragon Ball.
This is my favorite sushi place in town, The other places are way fancier and more expensive. I fully recommend eating here. However, I've gotten takeout here 5+ times and it seems like they just kinda suck at it. They forgot items several times. And I don't think they itemize their receipts, so I couldn't even tell if I paid for the stuff I didn't get. They also tied off the bag of food so I couldn't really check. Once they told me "15 minutes" on the phone and then it was over an hour wait even though there were like two tables eating there. I still keep going, but lookout for weird stuff like that.
Amazingly professional and sweet, greeted me right away and made sure I was comfortable waiting. Returned my card quickly and made sure I had everything I needed and extra. Food is absolutely amazing, I’ve been coming here for years and they’ve never let me down. Go here if you’re looking for good priced, high quality sushi and other foods.
Went here for dinner... the sushi was very good. We really enjoyed all the different rolls we purchased. The waiter was very nice and courteous even though he was extremely busy being the only wait staff for the entire restaurant. The only subpar part of the meal was the green tea... idk why, but it was just not the greatest. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here.
Very affordable and a wonderful place to get Sushi and Sashimi. Casual atmosphere. I lived in Okinawa Japan for 3 yrs so 4 stars due to the Sushi not being cold and more firm. It was very good though. Saited my appetite quite well and didn't break the bank.
I have eaten many times at every Sushi restaurant in Napa. This one had consistently better quality Sushi than the others until their best sushi chefs left last year. Now the sushi is mediocre at best.
Had dinner here. Orders a soft shell crab as app and 2 special rolls as main dish. Overall it's good. I read some reviews on yelp before came here, but the reviews have very different opinions about this place, which made me hesitate. I am glad I came here. The food was tasty, a bit on the greasy side for the soft shell crab but the tolls are not bad. There are very limited selection for sushi in Napa so this is not bad.
Food was good, I wouldn’t say amazing. I feel it was overpriced from my experience. Atmosphere was pretty bland and boring. I’ll probably stick to my regular sushi places over this one.
Good consistent sushi, they used to be a lot more competitive than the tourist spots in Napa, but they have increased their prices so much that you can go to a fancier place for the same price and have a better experience. This is still definitely the local spot, but it's frustrating to see them change prices and then leave all of their old, more reasonable prices up on their Google page. It makes them look better but when you go in to pay everything is a minimum of $3 more than what their menu states, it feels almost intentional to pull more customers over. They are also pretty understaffed and for a lunch rush they had one server which made things pretty chaotic. Hopefully these folks can start serving the local community better.
I just realized there aren't that many sushi spots in town no more. Since this establishment is located down the street from the cave .. this is usually our to go sushi spot -- simply because of the close proximity to the house. This time we went - it was super busy .. well .. I guess everyone wanted sushi for Valentine's day hahaha .. I guess that's why. We were seated fairly quickly as the line for a table was growing increasing long. We had a roll to share and the hubs and I both had their dinner plate. My son had chicken on the stick and some rice. Sometimes I feel rushed over here .. food is okay .. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm sure we'll be back .. it's convenient.
Server was not attentive, did not engage with us as I would expect. Food was very good but service was seriously lacking. Eye contact, checking in, follow up, offering suggestions. All servers were young and seemingly not trained. Possibly just a bad night, but . . .
It was good quality and the service was initially good. However, we sat down with a full hour before closing and we’re still rushed out 45 minutes into our meal. I waited tables for years, and I get it, but you don’t turn on the tv loudly and serve your guests a check while they are still eating with 15 mins before you close. We weren’t even asked if we needed anything else near the end of our meal. Bad form, you can do better.
It's nothing special, the sushi is served on regular round plates....american dinner plates and they are all mismatched which for some reason really bothered me! Really small place we were sitting in the bar very squished by the person next to us. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The sushi was pretty good salmon was great it tasted really fresh. My husband order the yokisobu or whatever noodles and the shrimp were rubbery and overcooked and the mussels were fishy. Not good.
I ordered takeout for three adults and a child the other day. The mechanics of the transaction were perfect. A person who spoke flawless English answered the phone and it was easy to get the order down. The food was ready in fifteen minutes, as promised. It was easy to find parking and to get in and out of the restaurant. The sushi itself was fine, but not amazing. The yellowtail and salmon nigiri seemed to be of high quality, but I got just a little less fish and rice than I'm used to getting in San Francisco. The other items we ordered -- mostly rolls -- were similar. Good, but not amazing, and just a little on the small side.
I used to have Sushi Haku at 4 stars because they were really good (and don't get me wrong flavor wise they ARE still really good) BUT the prices from their website are all false and they claim that they can't change their own site. Just to give a reference the rolls that were supposed to be $12 $13 were $16 or $17 instead so my $65 expected total came out closer to $80
Not super impressed. They had small rolls and it looked like the owner or manager was calculating every tab by hand on the sushi bar (customer side). after seeing the small rolls I felt like they cared more about the pennies, than the quality and "sushi bar" experience. the servers/waitresses were very curtious and attentive, but it just didnt make me want to go back. the older sushi chefs looked bored and it looked like maybe a newer chef was making rolls and giving it to the older ones to cut. the food was good, but nothing to rave over and tell all your friends and family.
Last 3 times I've gotten sushi from here have been freaking ridiculous! The first time I called takeout the main lady asked for me to hold. 12 min later hearing the other patrons I knew she forgot about the phone. I hung up and tried calling back. Busy signal. I went in and she was ignoring me and seemed to give me attitude when I told one of the servers what had happened. The second time, I called and called and called.....nothing. the third time I called right when they opened at 5. She put me on hold for 5 min and then told me it would be over an hour wait. They better hope another sushi place doesn't open up on that side of town cause with the customer service they supply they wouldn't last.
Called and said could come in at 8:20 they don't close till 9:30, it was our anniversary and we were rushed as soon as we sat down. Waiter took food from table before we were done I didn't get everything with my dinner and he dropped the bill while we were still eating. In and out in 40 min, not relaxing at all very uncomfortable. It was like drop your 100$ eat and get out!
The sauce tastes like thousand island with A LOT of mayo. Not into that, especially for the prices they charge. Servers were pretty dismissive, but not rude. Very little eye contact, felt kind of weird. I'm not one to complain about this normally, but it was bad enough to warrant a mention. I've never seen a sushi place say "49er - California roll with salmon and tuna", but they give you salmon on half of the pieces and tuna on the other. That's pretty sketchy. Sushi roll was falling apart. Not very well rolled. First piece I dipped fell apart almost immediately into the soy sauce. 2 stars for being one of the only sushi places in the area. Your options are limited, Napa...
This is my second time here. Sushi is just OK, let’s face it not a ton of sushi options in Napa. VERY over priced.. for the same amount of money you can go to Aiko’s downtown. Woman who runs the place is rude. We came an hour before they close and mid meal they started putting up the chairs at empty tables and started turning off the lights. I thought I was hallucinating, I’ve never had that happen even at dive places. They’re more concerned about going home than taking care of their customers. For reference we were 2ppl, ordered an app, drinks and two rolls, meal was $100. As Napa locals, we will never go back and never recommend this place to anyone.
Listen, I really hate leaving bad restaurant reviews. I've been in this industry for a long time and I understand how hard it is to survive. I always try to find something to speak good of, so here it is: the server tried really hard to get us what we asked for, and what we asked for was lemons for our water... We got slices of the ends of lemons that looked like they were cut two days ago. Other than that, everything else was out of his control. The food is awful. Like, truly awful. The rice was overcooked, mushy, and warm. The tempura on the fried rolls was so thick that it was all you could taste. In fact, it was so thick that they had to cook the rolls so long to make sure the dough wasn't raw that the fish inside the roll cooked. There were sauces on top of the rolls that were just spewed all over it, likely to hide the flavor, the wasabi was oxidized and turning brown, and even the edemame was over steamed and soggy. We told the server at the end, after we (my wife and I) had collectively eaten 6 pieces of our rolls, that it was really bad and his manager (owner? I don't know) gave us like $5 off the ticket (a total of almost $70 for 3 rolls, 2 misos, and an edemame). I would expect better sushi from a gas station, and I'd probably get it. Hey, if you're the owner and you want to chat, message me back. I can help you. I also do this for a living. No hard feelings.
I ordered 2 rolls and the yakisoba for takeout. There was no soy sauce with my sushi and it was frozen so I tasted little crunchy shards of ice in my food. The yakisoba was full veggies and barely any noodles. The lady with the glasses is also extremely rude and is a big reason why I will never be going back, also unreasonably priced. Take my advice and go somewhere else.
BEWARE OF RIP OFF IF ORDERING TAKEOUT!!! Placed a phone order for takeout; total cost based on the prices listed on the menu on their website should have been ~$73, but they rang me up for $97 instead (i.e. overcharged me by $24, or ~33%). When I questioned the overcharged bill, the server's response was that they had changed their prices a while ago and the menu on their website was outdated. The cashier refused to honor their advertised prices or correct my bill. In retrospect, I should have just left the food behind and walked away at this point -- but didn't. Even more sad, I now see that there are numerous other reviews online (on Nextdoor and Yelp) complaining about the exact same dishonest behavior -- so my experience apparently wasn't an isolated incident. Enough time appears to have gone by since their price increase, that at this point it seems like maintaining the outdated pricing on their website is actually intentional (to try to hook in more customers who they hope won't see all of these reviews and won't notice that they're being ripped off). Although the prices listed on their website were reasonable, their *real* prices are kinda pricey for what you get, and my meal actually ended up being about as expensive as the same meal would have been at Eikos Napa -- which has much higher quality food. Even though Sushi Haku's food is decent, based on their management's complete lack of integrity -- I'll never go back again.
Arrived for dinner as a party of 8 for my birthday; was told by the waitress we should have made a reservation (they don’t take reservations!!!) and we would have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. Meanwhile other patrons are being seated as soon as they arrive. After waiting close to an hour, I went back in you check on the table. The same waitress told me she didn’t have a table because the smaller patrons were taking all the tables. I asked why they hadn’t felt they should have made a spot for us or at least updated us; we have small children that need to eat. She told me should could separate us into 2 small table across the restaurant from one another. We have been here several times & while the food is good, the customer service is not. I do not recommend this place, go to Amani where they are friendly and accommodating
Went in tonight 3/1/25. Sat there for about 20 minutes. Waitress was taking orders from 3 different sets of people who came in after us. We left. I'd give no stars if I could. Shitty service!
I'm disappointed with the service provided by the lady who rings people up at Sushi Haku. Her consistently bad attitude and rudeness towards customers have been noticed by multiple customers, including myself. It's unfortunate that such behavior affects the overall experience at an otherwise enjoyable restaurant. Management should address this issue promptly to ensure all customers receive respectful treatment:(
I agree with Jenna. This place has horrible customer service. On top of their high prices for not even being downtown. The old man owner just sits there and counts money not even acknowledging customers. Go to Amami highly recommend their food, location, service, & prices.
First time we were here the server ignored us and served newcomers ahead of those who had been waiting. Second time we had a to go order that shorted us two paid for items and gave us a dry salad with no dressing. We called them to ask for a refund on the missing items. They blamed us for not checking the wrapped and knotted to go order bag. They are terrible people.
My to go order was wrong. I called them for a refund and they hung up on me. I was so furious that I drove back with the uneaten food. The friendly waitress that re-greeted us was pushed aside by the grumpy, old owner who demanded we leave the restaurant and talk outside. He reluctantly threw some hush money to get us to leave, it wasn't a full refund but it was close so I left. NEVER going back.
First, I would like to say, our server was pleasant and did a great job under a very stressful lunch rush. This review only pertains to the OWNER WHO IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, & OBNOXIOUS. My husband and I went to Haku today for lunch. He ordered the teriyaki chicken and the server asked if he wanted the California roll or a spicy tuna roll. My husband opted for the spicy tuna roll. When the bill came to the table and we had been OVERCHARGED $5 for the $12.99 lunch combo. Our server noted the mistake and took our check and credit card. The owner dropped our bill to us and the $5 overcharge had not been corrected prior to running the credit card, which I assume the owner did herself. I mentioned this to our server who looked surprised and frazzled and told me not to tip him because of the mistake, which my husband an I would never think to do -he worked hard for his 20% tip and he shouldn't be punished because he seemed intimidated to talk to the owner. I waited patiently while the owner was chit chatting with a regular. Finally, after standing by her like a creeper for about a minute I politely said "excuse me, sorry to interrupt, but I need to go back to work and we were over charged..." to which she cuts me off and in a no nonsense rude tone said "you had the spicy tuna roll" which means to me she was aware we felt we had been overcharged, decided not to care, and charge us anyway without offering an explanation! I started to continue that we were not told of an additional charge when we ordered. The owner would not let me speak and continued to talk over me raising her voice, as if she was trying to bully me into accepting the charge. I finally was able to get across that a $5 up charge for a spicy tuna roll seemed unfair since it had not been communicated to us by the server, and it was poor business practice to tack on up charges. Through her condescending manner I finally picked up that she was telling me we were in fact charged for 4 extra pieces of the spicy tuna roll, the menu shows 4pcs come with the combo. First of all, we would have been happy with the 4pcs, the decision to serve 8pcs was made for us not by us. Second, $1.25 per small piece of spicy tuna roll totaling $5 is ridiculous. By this time my husband sees what is going on and walks over as the manager is clearly being rude, loud, and argumentative. He said "lets go, we don't need to ever come back". I told the poorly behaved manager, I was disappointed by the way she was treating me as we come in at least twice a month (four times this month!) and we would not be returning. The manager goes to the cash register takes out a $5 bill and started waiving it my face, so I turned around and walked away. I work in customer service and was in food and beverage for years. I would never want to make a scene, and that is what she did in her own restaurant with her over the top obnoxiousness. Lastly, the restaurant was slammed, and her staff could have used her support with greeting people, running food, filling drinks, etc. If you want to treat your restaurant like your own personal social club, fine, but hire a manager to run it properly. ALWAYS GET AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT! A few weeks ago we thought we had been overcharged at dinner and when we asked for one we were told there wasn't one available, but today there was. Sounds suspicious to me.
Do not go when you are super hungry. We waited 1 hour for our food and the quantity was super small. Also, the food is not good especially for the price. Gratuity is included for 5 people (3 adults 2 children). We ordered Salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, yakisoba and spicy tuna roll, spicy crab and Alaska roll. Not what I was expecting. Definitely not going back.
Good food but service absolutely sucks! Hire people that do not care about smiling or the customer at all. Been there four times with the same service, last two times left after waiting 20 minutes. Tried it over and over because food is good, never again! At same time noticed ,it seemed, known patrons got good service
Food was mediocre. The service was the worse. When we asked for a straw the waitress looked at us like we were crazy. She also forgot to put in our full order. We had to ask for the food again. And when she finally went to tell the chef, she couldn't even follow up with us or anything. The edamame was so cold, like straight out of the fridge. The water had a bad taste to it. I would definitely not recommend.
The lady that works here is so rude she was screaming at everyone. She wouldn’t help anyone, everyone arrived after our table but received their food way before us. Everyone finished their meals and we didn’t even receive anything, barely a refill on our waters. The food is good but I wouldn’t recommend going on a busy night. It made multiple tables uncomfortable.
