I LOVE working this venue! Great acoustics, beautiful setting, & the trains rolling by are a unique & entertaining element. The staff is impeccable, very caring about everyone's experience. And the food....phenomenal!! Looking forward to many more weddings here. -Ring Tunes Wedding & Event DJ
Been going to the RCI since the 1980s. This was the best experience yet. Staff was super friendly, professional and efficient (thanks Amanda). Atmosphere was pleasant. And the food was amazingly well prepared and presented. Five of us. Ordered tenderloin, New York Strip, Scallops, and the Swordfish special. Ordered additional sides of the Jojo potatoes, Wisco Meatballs, and the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. All of it was hot, seasoned perfectly, and plated with care. Bonus points for the incredible Swordfish and Jojos. Couple suggestions, I thought the Brussel sprouts could have roasted a little longer, and the meatballs could have been firmer. We saved room for desserts. Creme brûlée, apple tart and chocolate grasshopper torte. All very fresh and good. Keep up the great job!
A magical evening with perfectly prepared entrees & wonderful service continues with the new management. Starters include classic Wisconsin options like meatballs, cheese platter and cannibal sandwiches. The new menu includes 4 time honored classics and steaks & potato entrees. No Friday fish fry options, but the Walleye classic meal is a delicious unique paring that was truly enjoyed. Soups, Salads, Enhancements and accompaniments available at an additional cost. There’s an extensive rotating wine list and when in doubt choose from the Sommelier’s picks. They knock it out of the park with their Lemon Cream Brûlée. The event space on the second floor is still available too. Another chapter has been written in the oldest restaurant in Wisconsin’s book that continues to be a special occasion treasure to enjoy!
Delicious bread and garnish to start, Caesar salad 🥗, we both had the Beef Tenderloin, 🥩 Order of Mushrooms and Creme brulee for dessert! 😋 Small hiccup when we were seated, the staff recovered quickly. Beautiful interior and interesting history going back to 1848 (175 years) as The Nashotah Inn, originally owned by the Pabst family. Will definitely be back.
We had our company holiday party at Red Circle Inn last night and it was nothing short of amazing! The Provimi Room was gorgeous and decorated beautifully. The food was fantastic, we had the beef tenderloin, roasted chicken, baked potatoes, veggies, and the BEST dessert spread. The culinary team outdid themselves. Lexi, Julia, Kyle, Erin, & Curt were such pleasant, kind, and fun staff! We truly could not have asked for a better evening!
Great night! Food was super delicious! (Had the brie and wellington) Came in to celebrate my birthday and a big promotion at work and had an amazing evening! Very romantic and classy vibe for the night! Our server was great and very sweet :) can't wait to come back and try the bar side menu ☺
My girlfriend and I we were talking about dinner ideas. Then I remembered seeing a lot in social media about Red Circle Inn, so I called and found out the bar seating was first-come-first-served, so we went straight there. Attire is casual, and the space is beautiful! Lots of great classic photos, pieces of history, with some signs of updates. We started with cocktails and apps: Sprecher Root Beer pork belly and classic supper club dishes Shrimp DeJonghe & French Onion Soup. All were delicious, but the French Onion Soup really stood out to me because the broth had so much flavor, and it was loaded with onions and a thick layer of cheese! My gf ordered the entree special, a bone-in glazed veal chop over mushroom risotto, and I ordered a 12oz cut of prime rib because supper club. Her risotto was cooked to the right consistency and her veal chop was tender and delicious (of course I tried her dish!). My prime rib was perfect! It had great seasoning on its own, and the jus served with it took it to another level. I think it was the best prime rib I've ever had, definitely my current one that I'll compare others to. It would have been smart to leave really full at this point, but we decided we couldn't pass on the Rhumchata bread pudding, and why not add tje dessert special Citrus Panna Cotta with fresh berries. Wow! Yes, we took home leftovers, and yes, we had to be rolled out, but it was worth it. We received excellent service from Quentin, and the GM Kyle was providing tours and history lessons, so we joined one. You need to go! Our visit was 10/18/2025.
First time here except for a fundraiser last year. We wanted to find out which of the previous reviews was true. A Tuesday night with a 6:00pm reservation, we were greeted by a smiling young lady who made sure our visit started off right; coats stored, did we want a drink in the bar first, would we like a wine menu? All great questions. We were seated at a small table for two, which at first look seemed uncomfortable, but it was just fine. We had Old Fashioneds and were given a relish platter, which was mostly olives and a few small crackers with a spread, all very supper club traditional. We then ordered the Exotic Mushrooms, where the crispy ciabatta toast was a nice combination for this unusual appetizer. It was a big order, so we actually took some home. The House Signature Overnight Prime Rib was our choice with mashed potatoes and horseradish sauce on the side. These were done to perfection (medium rare) and a good size. My only changes would be a little less au jus with the Prime Rib. It was swimming on the plate and looked a bit overwhelming. Our server was Christine M., and to say she made our meal wonderful from start to finish is an understatement. She obviously enjoys her job and knows how to make everyone feel welcome, which goes a long way towards a great meal. As we asked questions, she gently directed us to the best options, and her knowledge and attention to detail made our choices easy. Red Circle Inn did well when they hired her. As a surprise treat, I got a birthday ice cream sundae, which was delicious! Rich ice cream with just the right amount of whipped cream, chocolate, and sprinkles on top. Thank you for this treat! After this visit, I hope to return soon. The pricing was appropriate, and we left with enough food for another meal another day. Thank you, Christine! We always appreciate being treated well by a knowledgeable and friendly server. You made our evening.
Came here for a birthday dinner for my wife. We had a great time. The food and drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was very unique and enjoyable. I had the salmon and she had the ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly. Would also recommend the crispy brussel sprout appetizer.
First time here. Our friends we meet had been here before. This is a chill supper club vibe with white linin tables. Excellent bar and bartenders and the Host was super friendly and came to find us when our reservation time came up. We like to sit and have a predrink at the bar before we eat. The 2 piece band in bar was great. We sat and order apps, the cheese curds where squares of joy. The pork belly was a nice size with not to much fat. Our Waitress, Taylor was super attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu. We found out they changed the menu a few times a year. Their wine selection was small but a few very nice vintages that were fairly priced. Our friend had the stuffed shrimp and the presentation was superb. Her husband had the ribeye and was a very nice size. My wife had the ribs and it was a very large helping. I had the 7oz filet that was done perfect. The only reason this isnt 5 stars across the board is my wifes garlic mashed potatoes and mine were served cool, not cold but cool enough where the butter we put on wouldn't melt. Overall we will be back! Some cool potatoes on an otherwise perfect dinner should not stop you from trying the oldest Supper Club in Wisconsin! It won't stop us from coming back!
Stopped in for dinner at the bar. Kurt was the bartender, he was fabulous! Down to earth & funny. Made delicious drinks as well. We had the French onion soup, crab cake slider, small wedge salad, beef stroganoff, & oyster Rockefeller toast. It was all Very tasty!
AMAZING FOOD, SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE for an anniversary date night 🌙 😍 I love how passionate their team is about the history and love of the food. We will definitely be back ❤️
Nostalgia. Comfort. This was the beginning. Then, I ordered a Sidecar. Talk about nostalgia...been decades since that cocktail showed up on a menu. This one came in a whisper thin martini glass. It was delicious. Don't recall the last time I thought a drink was delicious. Then the dinner arrived. Beef Stroganoff with a side of red cabbage, sprinkled with goat cheese. People! Scrumptious!! Satisfying wide egg noodles, juicy pot roast, cooked to perfection. (Can't believe I'm raving over such a common dish, but it was that good.) OH, then notice the music floating by...was that live? The horn player in the lobby area, sitting at an angle, jazzy in attire, hat tilted, notes floating. Magical. Just had to share. Go there...
This place did not disappoint! Staff was amazing! They made me feel like I was their only customer. The food was great. It was Sunday supper night, and there was sooo much food, but it was all amazing! Brandy old fashioned was on point. I do not have 1 bad thing to say about this place. Everything was exactly as it should be.
First time here. i got the lamb chops. they were amazing. we got complimentary chicken liver on toast. it was ok. i more prefer liverwurst myself. but i didn’t mind it. Carissa K was an exceptional server and her trainee Kai was also wonderful and personable. We will be back.
We popped in the bar for dinner. Pleasant staff. Great burger and fried chicken. Classic brandy old fashioned. Good atmosphere. Don’t count it out for some comfort food on a week night. My wife and I split the burger and it was plenty. Cooked hot and juicy.
Their service is unmatched. The Sunday supper beef Wellington for 2 was superb! And don’t even get me started on the bread pudding - it’s a knockout. My second visit to RCI, the (manager?) Kayla was exceptionally accommodating to me. Though she wasn’t our waiter, she was observant as a hawk and saw that I was not enjoying my Lamb Chop entree. She came right over and insisted I order another dish, on the house. If she hadn’t noticed, I would not have been the person to say anything. I was embarrassed that I had ordered an expensive dish that would go to waste, but she was so reassuring that it was no trouble. Not only was the lamb chop and the stroganoff removed from the bill, our waiter, Reece also offered to throw in a free dessert. They were both wonderful!
Such a charming place with a deep history, great historical pictures on the walls and just beautiful. Food was amazing.we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they gave us free champagne to toast with
Love Red Circle! Food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing—Mary was very attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back!
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Host, waitress (Sarah) and her support staff were very gracious and knowledgeable of the dishes offered on Easter. Very detailed in what they do. They even marked on the To Go boxes what was inside and dated it. Who else does that for you??? Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Our service was outstanding! Anne (our server) was wonderful, as was the rest of the staff. They were very attentive, polite, and did a great job talking care of us. The food was good, both my and my wife's steaks were excellent. Between everyone else we had prime rib, veal chop, and stroganoff. We had a wonderful evening celebrating our dad's birthday. Thank you very much.
I enjoyed the ambiance and my dinner. The tenderloin filet that I ordered was cooked exactly as I requested - medium well. A lot of restaurants struggle with getting my steaks prepared to my liking but this chef nailed it. My partner ordered the crispy perch and potato wedges and they were too salty for his taste. Our server was very friendly and answered our inquiries about the history of the building. The manager came around to our table to make sure we were pleased with our meals. I appreciated the attention to detail that was present at this restaurant and I am looking forward to coming back to dine
Just went here for our 2nd time and both times were fantastic. During both of these visits we had the overnight prime rib, stuffed shrimp, garlic shrimp, crispy brussel sprout appetizer and salmon and also had brandy old fashions. Everything, including the service was excellent. We'll be back!
I was drawn to the Red Circle by their Oktoberfest menu, and as a lover of good food, I was thoroughly impressed. While I had heard mixed reviews about the restaurant in the past, especially after it changed ownership, recent reports of improvement convinced me to give it a try. I ordered the mixed plates, pretzels, and apple strudel, and everything was fantastic. The highlight was the roasted whole pork that initially caught my eye. My only suggestion would be to enhance the sauerkraut; preparing it with some butter and sugar instead of serving it plain would elevate it to the level of the other dishes. Overall, the meal was amazing, and I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu.
Visited for the first time with my wife for dinner. We enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere. The bar was busy but we had really nice drinks. I must mention the fried chicken...best I've ever had and I have had chicken many places. My wife is not even a 'chicken person' and she tried it and thought the same. Visit if you haven't!!
Service was outstanding. The entrance is very cold and impersonal. Which is fine if you are looking for that sort of thing. The food is very average probably below average. Would have thought the food would have been a 4.6 stars ⭐️. Not even close . The tuna poke was very disappointing. Not sure why tuna poke is made with mayo and put into a mold ? Not good. It is too bad. The atmosphere is very stuffy and ok if you are 90 years old. Only thing I can rant and rave about is the service here.
Step into this charming historical restaurant, where the classic ambiance wraps you in nostalgia. The attentive staff ensures a friendly and welcoming experience. And let's talk about the food—each dish is delicious and delights the palate.
Red Circle Inn feels like a renovated supper club trying to balance modern touches with tradition. Some hits, some misses. Big bar area with comfy chairs and a few high tops—nice, but a sleigh foot rail would’ve sealed the deal. Atmosphere was fine, but not much buzz. Same goes for the food—fine, not memorable. The most authentic supper club touch? Candles on each table. The rest leaned modern, like the electronic pepper grinder with a blue light and a whir. More efficient? Sure. But I miss the old-school crackle of a wooden grinder. Service was friendly, no issues there. QR code payment at the table is a nice modern convenience. Easy to get a reservation and not packed at 7pm, which tells you something.
Enjoyed dinner. Stroganoff was delicious. The chicken pot pie looked amazing but flavor was disappointing as it was very bland.
This food is AMAZING. The first bite just about melted in my mouth (I had the fish special for the night). My partner’s steak was cooked perfectly and the JoJo potatoes were a delectable treat. Asparagus side was well-balanced in flavor. Cocktails were good, as well. Service was slow, BUT with how staffing is, that can happen. Our waitress was kind and helpful and brought samples of wine so we could decide what to get. Just had long periods of wait with cocktails and slow service. As a bartender and veteran of the industry, I get how it happens. Just an honest assessment. The biggest issue we had was the atmosphere and table/chairs. The entire dining experience was uncomfortable. Table was too small, chairs felt like posture chairs, and I awkwardly had nowhere to set my clutch. Does not change the quality of food, but did distract from the experience. Overall we would definitely go back because of the food, but small improvements to the overall experience could easily make this a 5/5.
We came here for a birthday dinner since I love a classic Wisconsin supper club. We ordered the appetizer board for two, which had several Wisconsin favorites with new twists. Fried deviled egg was delicious. The bread tray was a bit odd, and we almost felt like we shouldn't ask for a second piece. My husband and I also split the salad special, which was a nice arugula, prosciutto, and fresh mozzarella salad with lemon olive oil. Around the time we got our salad, the kitchen got busier, and our server apologized for the lag. We weren't in a hurry, so it wasn't an issue. When the entrées arrived, we noticed a good amount black on the steak. We love a good char, but this was more burnt, and the steak was rare instead of medium, so that was unfortunate. When it comes to the atmosphere, we love the concept of smaller rooms as well as the antiques adorning the walls. The lighting didn't contribute to the ambiance, and the chairs were very uncomfortable.
The oldest supper club in WI was a special treat for a birthday dinner. Food was good overall, but not stellar. The crab cake was good, and so were the mushrooms. The mocktails were a hit. Fish was well prepared. Service was excellent and the ambiance was nice, except for the noisy biker bar across the street. I know they can't fix that, but would recommend an indoor table as a result.
The fillets and ribs were done perfectly. The flank steak was very very very rare. I miss the old traditional relish tray. The other thing I noticed on drinks was the nickel and dimming that goes on, extra charge for straight up & blue cheese olive in a martini… come on man !!! And no complementary birthday dessert ?
Husband's choice of short ribs stroganoff was unbelievably good!! Mine green beans and mashed potatoes were awesome also. Schaum tort and apple strudel with Mullins ice cream out of this world!
Staff was polite, service with a smile. Drinks were well made & strong. Flat iron steak was plenty tasty. Buttered mashers were a bit bland, needed some salt. Interior & décor are in need of an upgrade/remodel. A bit chinsy for what you're paying.
The atmosphere and service were very good, the prices were not in my opinion, a good value. I loved the bacon wrapped scallops. The beef wellington though properly cooked was lacking salt and had really nothing to recommend it. The st. Peters fish dish was unique to my experience and nice enough. Overall, my impression is that there was not really anything about my experience to recommend a visit.
Amazing atmosphere. Large bar with easy accessibility. Excellent bartendtenders. The food service was not acceptable, nor the quality of food that was served. The food arrived warm at best! The rolls were hard as a rock. The Risotto was sub par as it was crunchy as in undercooked and served with a slop which was consistent of Farina. When the server finally came back (too late) I did express my concerns. Although they offered up a replacement meal. Everyone was done already. The broccoli that was served was severely over cooked to the point inedible. They did do a nice job on the steak, but it was not served hot. For the price point, it was not worth your time. Since it was a staff Christmas party of about 30, I feel the kitchen should have been better staffed. This was a 2nd time here and first wasn't as bad as this time. Many staff members were unsatisfied with their food. Some actually left and went to order pizza because they were hungry due to what we were served. I also feel the set up for handicapped consumers is a big no! Having been using a walker up the very long ramp and managing to open a severely heavy door, I am told there is no elevator to the upstairs dining. They expected me to go back to my car and drive around back to the Upper level. Instead, I had to sit on my but and take 1 stair at a time, in dress clothes, in front of 6 people waiting for lower level seating. I was so disappointed. The evening was fantastic otherwise, being with the staff of two offices, enjoying their delicious cocktails. The venue is a beautiful place. It has warmth and is welcoming.
The food was not as good as expected for the steep cost it came with. The service was over-attentive, people kept asking to take away plates we were still eating from. We go to a supper club every month, periodically returning to the best ones. Our overall experience was a disappointment and we will not be returning!
Girl friend Christmas dinner was disappointing. 3 out of 4 had a steak which was grossly overpriced for the quality of the meal. Sadly we will not be back nor will we recommend.
We have been to 12 supper clubs and this one ranked 2nd from the bottom. The food was “just ok”. My husband had the ribs and said the meat did fall off the bone and they were good. I had the short rib stroganoff and found it to be very bland. In addition, the service was a bit overwhelming. We had several different people constantly at the table which was a bit overwhelming. We are happy we tried it but will not return.
An icon of Wisconsin supper club dining that delivers in charm and atmosphere, but falls short in quality. Wrapped up in delightful Christmas decor, the Red Circle Inn welcomed our group of four on a snowy December evening. The staff was pleasant, engaging (in fact), and saw to our every need. Top-notch on the service rating! The 1848 old-fashioned was great, but that is where the quality ended. Cheese curds with corn and crab hush puppies were both average, particularly the hush puppies (very limited flavor). But the greatest disappointment of the night was the flagship "Delmonico Ribeye." Both the quality of the cut and the preparation were below average, and at $68, patrons should expect better flavor and experience! And under no circumstances should anyone order the brandy peppercorn sauce. Overall, I would try it again for the famed "Red Circle inn Stroganoff" - it looks fabulous.
What a let down. Our kids wanted to take us out for our anniversary and they picked this place. None of us had ever been there before. We arrived early and joked with the young male host that we would like to start with a drink in the bar. He had literally no sense of humor and seemed confused. Maybe it was his first day. We had just been served our first drinks at the bar, (three whiskey old fashioned presses and a dirty martini with Kettle - all were well made), when the host came back to say that our table was ready. Right, but we told you we wanted to have a drink and we're early. I understand that restaurants need to flip tables quickly to be efficient but this was 5:00pm and to be honest, the restaurant never filled up. We told him one more moment. Sucked our drinks down and moved to the table. Heidi was our server, she was kind and knowledgeable enough but her support team was not there for her. She came first and took our drink order. We ordered our second round of drinks. Waited 10+ minutes for them to come. They came after she returned to take our dinner order. They came with no olives or cherries, no stir straws. Just the glass the ice and the drink. We asked her to return for the straws and garnish. Our first course came (the wedge was pretty good but it is not wedge shaped. They were flat slices of mini iceberg heads) and we were just about done with it before the relish and straws came. Three of us ordered Prime Rib. When in Rome. This is a supper club. It was honestly the worst I've ever had. We all ordered medium rare and they were RARE. They were fatty and gristly and the knifes they gave us came out of some fancy wooden box but they must have been using those knives since 1848 when the restaurant opened because they were more dull than my butter knife. Think I'm exaggerating? Go ahead, try it yourself. After wrestling with our undercooked tough meal she offered my husband and I "a" sundae. When we passed on it, she offered us each a glass of champagne. Which was a nice touch but only filled the flutes up about 1.5 inches. I feel badly for servers in a place like this. We left a good tip but there was not much about the place that was tip worthy. I understand you never know what a piece of meat will be like, then invest in a knife sharpener so if you do run across a bad prime rib, it is not so glaringly obvious to your guests. Not sure if this place is in trouble, but we won't be back. Thanks Heidi for trying!
We have been here twice & not happy with it! First of all they give u a cheap relish tray & no bread! Also no salad or soup choice included with with our meal! I have been to a lot of Supper Clubs & they have bread & have a salad or soup before the meal& included with the meal. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Fish leaves a lot to be desired. Get cheese curds and and old fashioned and go somewhere else for your supper. $35 each was way too much for the fish our group order
We will never try this place again. We came in, at 4pm on a Sunday. The place was empty. Everything was fine until the perfectly pleasant woman at the desk turned us over to another woman who looked annoyed that we didn't have a reservation, then took us to a cramped table for two. When I asked if she could give us a nicer seat, gesturing at the absolutely empty room, she again became visibly annoyed and snipped that they had to save places for those who had made reservations. I'm sorry - we eat out A LOT - and any good restaurant owner knows that when faced with an empty dining room, a bird in the hand.... That combined with the attitude, we just said no thank you, and left. This place simply offers nothing to warrant such hubris.
Drinks at the bar were great, bartenders were amazing, we were then seated for dinner, food was sub par, staff kept attempting to take an appetizer we were still working on, This definitely is NOT a supper club, Never received a relish tray like the other tables, just an unfortunate experience, there a so many other places with much better food, the ribeye was flavorless and the prime rib came out raw.. This was definitely a one and done..
We went on Sunday specifically for Beef Wellington. 10 minutes after ordering we were told they were out of it. We noticed people around us getting it and they said they called and ordered ahead of time! We had made the reservation a month ahead of time and never told we needed to do that. The chicken and meatloaf were also not good ! Our server was excellent. We were a party of 7 and she was attentive. We will never go there again!
I really wanted to love this place given its reputation as one of the oldest and best supper clubs in the area — it’s been so highly talked about. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. The bartender was rude when we asked for a different drink after the first one wasn’t good (and yes, we still paid for it). When making the second, he asked if I preferred sour or sweet, and when I said sweet, he replied, “I figured,” in a tone that came off condescending and unnecessary. It set the wrong tone for the night. My filet was overdone, and the rest of the meal was pretty lackluster for the price. For such a well-known, long-standing supper club, I expected a warm, welcoming experience and better food quality. Sadly, it just didn’t deliver.
This should be a world class experience, but has never made it over at the 7-8 owners since I lived in WI. Used to do a lot of entertaining here when the piano bar was friendly and I could get the private dining room off of the bar. Really sad to see this landmark suffer in food but more in ambiance and good old WI gemütlichkeit. RIP Red Circle, go down the road to Golden Mast.
Service: busy time of year with the holidays, so Service was fair but understandable. Friday might early December and RCI was busy. Food: 2 people ordered-walleye picatta. Not in anyway Picatta! No butter, no lemon, no capers! Walleye - 2 small pieces, fishy! Probably frozen. Porstoes and green beans were good. Nothing worse than fishy walleye! Stoganoff,- edible but not good Pork shank- tenderloin, meaty but flovarless!
