Taco Rey Nederland Reviews
This place was great! I was pleasantly surprised with the egg cooked into the chorizo!
Awesome place to eat. Excellent tasting food. Wonderful atmosphere.
I have been eating here since I was a kid. It is, hands down, the BEST Mexican restaurant in the Golden Triangle!
Great place to eat, Jaun is the best waiter, others are good. Food is authenic . Try the lemonade its very good.
We're out shopping and ran across this place and it was amazing ! We would definitely be going back.
Good margaritas! Like the old house atmosphere, Mexican food is very good, one of our favorites.
Friendly, attentive staff. Fajitas were great! Worth the drive from Beaumont.
My son and my Dad and Mom love Taco Rey. The best food and service, they remember us every time we go
Taco Rey had great food and great service. We were a large party and the experience was perfect. I recommend the dish Tacos Al Carbon.
The chorizo is the best I've ever eaten, I love the folks, and the atmosphere is wonderful!! Top-notch Mexican food with an extra-special family history to boot--can't beat it!!😊
Most legit Tex-Mex in town. A local favorite with long history, great people and service. Tacos Al Carbon is a personal favorite, as is their queso.
Sometimes it the little things.....the food is always authentic and delicious, but it was nice having a restaurant with high chairs that weren't broken.
Nice family run restaurant with great service. I love their enchiladas and sauce.
Always love Taco Rey. It’s a small locally owned restaurant with that hometown feel. The food is delicious and service is always on point.
The bestia fajitas in all the golden triangle
This place is as good today as it was 15 years ago when I first tried it. I think the prices are close to the same as well.
This is a Mid County tradition. There are lots of Mexican food places in the areabut this place has a few years on most of then. Great food and original atmosphere.
I have been going to this family owned restaurant since it was located in PA over 35yrs ago. Still delicious after all these years.
I've been eating here for more than 15 years it's better all the time I absolutely love Taco Rey I love to staff and I love the Ramirez family they are absolutely the best y'all keep it up
Excellent service and authentic tex-mex food! Salsa is delicious and their queso is one of my favorites! Extremely friendly servers!
I've been going here since I was young, always one of the best places to eat in town
It was excellent. Loved the salsa Verde too. It's the best in the South East Texas.
Great family place and good food. Been around longer than all these places around here combined!
Great food and service was fast and friendly. Perfect for lunch.
Love Taco Rey! It's been around all the years of my life and still just as good as ever. I'm never disappointed.
Fantastic food. My favorite is the cheese enchiladas. The service is outstanding.
Very good,,, Mucho Bueno,,,!!! ,,, wonderful waitress,,, Lorena took her time with us and took time to listen to my mom!! I appreciated that personal time...thank you
Food and service is great. I had the Deluxe dinner awesome, my wife had Special dinner awesome. The lady that waited on us was very nice and responsive. We had a margarita that was very good. Thank you Taco Rey ❤️
This place has been here forever. Its great food and love the staff!
Parking does NOT represent the inside!! So don't be dismayed. Lol. I love the chips & "sonic ice-d" drinks! Can't do wrong here definitely worth a try
I have been eating at this place for as long as I can remember. The food is the same good food. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is always nice
Has a great atmosphere! Food was delicious. Staff was attentive and very nice. Great place for work lunch or dinner with family or friends.
Excellent food the wait service a bit slow being we had a young waitress and not one of the older ones which was constantly checking up on their tables .
Food was awesome. I got take out but didn't figure in the wait time. I got there in the middle of lunch rush. It was worth the wait.
Great food. I have enjoyed eating at Taco Rey for over forty years now. I love it!
Gave this place another chance. Food is excellent, great service, and great atmosphere! My kids love coming here
#1 Deluxe Platter....cheese enchiladas taste the same way they did 20 years ago (the last time I ate here before yesterday). Darn good Tex-Mex
Got Fajitas for two mixed. And Sweet Tea. Chips and Salsa. Delicious.
Always been great since I was a lil kid and now I'm a big kid it's still great. Food, service, atmosphere is great!!
Mmmmmhmmm...gooooood. generous with the enchilada sauce. Seasoned correctly and sufficiently. Queso is the best. Excellent taco meat. Just can't criticize, and I'm picky.
Still the good flavor after 65 years. Have been going here since the original car wash building. World class tamales.
Our first time eating here and everything was hot and very good.
Been to taco Rey for over 6 years. food is always great. Same consistency.Yes there's new management but the prices has been the same for over 2-3 years. The restaurant is still own by one of the family member. The staff are friendly and treat you like family.
Great food, my server that I am used to was off.
Great service nice servers and very fast service. Food tastes fantastic and great family friendly service.
Taco Rey is the best Mexican food restaurant in the area. Fresh food, consistently delicious, and an authentic and welcoming ambiance. The service is also excellent. My favorite overall. If you haven't been to Taco Rey, what are you waiting for?
They had their food truck out at an event this past Friday night, and let me tell you, those tacos's were out of this world. Flavorful and filling. I had chicken and steak street tacos. Yum yum yum. So good. Thanks for doing what you do.
Always the best Mexican food in Texas. I've been eating at Taco Rey my entire life which started back when they were located on Bluebonnet in Port Arthur. I've traveled all over the US and have yet to find better Mexican food anywhere. The restaurant is fixed within an old style wood frame house on piers complete with rustic hardwood floors, wooden multi-pane windows and early 20th century tin ceiling panels. There's never a shortage of discussion between patrons with the multitude of eclectic conversation pieces surrounding the interior of the restaurant including old celebrity photos, movie posters, news articles, antique decorations and retro furniture. The ambience is usually festive, the staff pleasant, the margaritas succulent and prices reasonable.
Best beef enchiladas I ever had. All 110% Food,Service and Waitstaff. Chips and salsa at the top.
Fun place to eat. Great food.
Amazing food and very friendly service.
This is one of our go to's when we are in Mid County. Been enjoying this Mexican food since the 1970's.
Awesome place! Made a bunch of memories over here and really good food and service. Recommend eating here for a birthday party
Just want to say this restaurant is very epic came from LA and its food is delightful, drinks is amazing ask for the margaritas they’re very delicious and the customer service is spectacular ask for Josh he is the best 100/100 by attending my friends and I… had so much fun and the vibe is very outstanding…!!!!
Lunch is the best time to go. Always fresh food and they will accomodate changes to the menu with a smile. Salsa is really good. My wife and i have been going here since 1985. Some things never change...and that's not a bad thing.
Really good salsa. Fajita beef was well cooked. Prices a little higher than I would of guessed.
A classic in the area with great food. Only wish they had more weekend open hours available.
Excellent service. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food was just ok.
Good food..had lunch..nice staff
Nice place. Took a while to be seated but the service was great and the food was good.
Best nachos ever 😋
Taco Rey's is reasonably priced old town Mexican restaurant. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Good food, nice portions too. Small place locally owned, its clean and has good salsa! The only down thing is parking is pretty limited
Good food. GREAT atmosphere. Brings you back to a simpler time while you're indulging your taste buds in authentic Tex-Mex!
Good food been here for a long time so you know there doing something right. An hey you can check out this one of a kind car.
Great food except their salsa is always way too salty and the main reason I like to go to mexican restaurants is to pig out on chips and salsa
Pretty ok - street tacos are good but not great. With that said food was clean, tables were clean, and service was super friendly.
It’s an old staple for this area and has been here for a very long time. They still make some really great Mexican food. In particular the tacos are very very good. We’ve also found that the enchiladas are well-made. The service is very good and very attentive to drinks and salsa refills. We love coming here for a quick lunch.
The food here is very good Mexican food. The restaurant itself is quite aged and smells quite a bit of BO. Staff is friendly and mostly attentive but I have had instances where items were missing from a to go order. Make sure you check over your orders.
Eat here when I'm in the area and the food has been great every time. Really dig the character and atmosphere this restaurant brings. Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5...The service was a little slow..but I'll wait a little longer for great food.
Great food and service. The food was on point and came out quickly. Well deserving of all of the positive reviews on here. I will definitely make a trip back.
Good food and good prices. Staff was friendly, my server was very attentive. I do wish there was white queso instead of just the chili con queso, but overall I had a great meal experience.
Great authentic Mexican food. A welcoming atmosphere with great service at a fair price.
I eat here once or twice every week. It’s always consistently good. Their super deluxe nachos are my favorite. The caldo is also delicious. Really can’t go wrong with anything. Just good Tex-mex in a local historical restaurant. Check the hours - it’s family run so they aren’t open late hours on Saturday and are closed on Sundays.
Good food but too pricey for 2 adults and 2 kids that didn't eat much.
The food is mediocre, it's not bad, just not great. Atmosphere and service are both great.
My husband and I went there for our date night (we were kid free) because we love trying out new places especially small places like this. Service was great, margaritas not so much... My husband ordered the 1/2 order fajita quesadilla from the dinner menu....$10 later it did not come with rice or beans (most "dinners" usually do) so he ordered a side of ($3) beans. I ordered the beef fajita stuffed baked potato. I waited about 35 minutes and when I FINALLY got it, it was the wrong potato (another waitress took the wrong potato to the wrong table) I know things like this happen my husband and I waited tables for about 10 years on and off. I waited another 30 minutes or so and still no potato. I went to the manager and said I just want to cancel my order. He said ok I will take it off your ticket. When I got back to my table he said " Oh it was actually coming out right now, would you like me to bag it to go" I was like well yea I guess so...when it was time to pay, the potato was not taken off even though I waited over an hour and did not even get to eat and 1/2 "dinner" quesadilla was $10 plus $3 to add beans to it. The salsa was a bit too salty, so was the quesadilla. When I FINALLY got to taste my food at home, the potato and fajitas were good but the onion and bell pepper a bit too sweet. I can now say...we tried it, but not our cup of tea.
Good food pricey but hey everything right?
This is the first time we have had mediocre food from here. Every other time the food has been great. Hope y'all are not going down hill like so many other restaurants. We will try again soon, but if the quality of food doesn't go back up to where it was, we will find another favorite place.
It might just be me. I like how they include the cinnamon sugar fried tortillas with the chips and salsa. The carne guisada is pretty good. I'd asked about what the "gravy" was made of/from, and the waitress was unsure. I have intolerances to quite a few food items, and I'd prefer more description. The rice and beans are standard, but great. This restaurant has been here as long as I remember with the double-front car. My mom really loves it!
Didn't like the food. Cost was out of line versus other much better mexican food that I have had. Dont think I will go back
The owner was working the register and we had a party of 3. We asked for supapias to go and got home there was only 1! WTH! 45 min for 1 supapias is bs.
Tacos Al Carbon aren’t Al carbon. More like skillet. The tortilla de harina/flour aren’t real but store bought not homemade. Was really excited to try this place. Houston has way better Mexican food than PA area. The meat quality is good though and green salsa is good too. The Charro beans tasted like regular beans with salt and garlic only. There was no onions, tomato, jalapeño, cilantro, pork meat or skins. Those aren’t Charro beans Taco Rey.
Bland taco meat and way overpriced for such small portions. Spending $25 for lunch for 2 people (taco salad & beef flameado) should be well seasoned and walking out full at the very least.
Went there with 5 friends. Worst Mexican rice ever had. Didn't finish. Refried beans. Didn't know they could be that bad. Three diff enchiladas. They didn't save the nite but I at least ate them. Service was great.
I ordered Fajita nachos with pico on them and the fajita meet was colder than the pico from the refrigerator. I have had this happen a couple times where I got my food and it's luke warm or cold. I'm over it and do not recommend this restaurant!!!!
Please don't come back to motiva the food was dry and no chile sauce. More like a mix
Service is good but the quality and quantity of the food is horrible $7 for enough cheese dip to feed my three year old and a large super deluxe nacho that not only didn't have all it claimed it did on it but was small for a $12 plate will not be back all this and a tea paid $26 it's not worth the money at all
Not very good food. I just ordered a quesadilla. I had to send it back, the cheese wasn't melted and looked all shredded. When she brought it back it tasted like a grill cheese sandwich made with Kraft slices. It wasn't very good. The waitress was nice and the restaurant was ok.
This way too far from being Mexican food, maybe it wasn’t a good day for the cookers but that food it was so plain how you can go wrong with a fajita taco, well it was very dry and the charro beans this is a Can beans why they said fresh made. First and last time at this place to go. Very disappointed and the waiting time to get your order it was bad
Worst Tex Mex in Southeast Texas. Fajita Skillet you could grab when served, peppers and onions were raw. There was A. Tostada underneath the peppers and onions when served. You could literally grab the meats and hold them in your hand when served. The chicken was dry and hard, the beef was lukewarm and no flavor to it. Neither is chicken. When she asked me if I said everything was okay I said no. I grabbed a piece of fajita meat and held it and showed her how cold it was. She asked me if I wanted it. Reheated and I said no. I wasn't staying long enough to worry about that. The best thing about the meal was the margarita. It was very good. I will never go back to this restaurant again
