Historic and fun honky tonk roadside bar that was awarded Texas first liquor license after prohibition. Riley's has several rooms of tables, bar stools, pool tables, and a couple booths. The juke box plays great country and rock tunes, and there are stages inside and outside. The back patio has several more tables and the restrooms. They serve a long her list and have four on tap. They also make good cocktails and have a food truck alongside. They have a free parking lot next to the building and a historic marker in front. There is also a picturesque railroad bridge just west of Riley's.

This bar has a lot of history. The bartenders are awesome. I went there to see a car show. And it was a lot of fun, great atmosphere. They always have things going on. Which I like too free pool on certain days tournaments. Musicians

Showed up a night, the food truck was not open, so I can't give ratings on the food - no food truck Monday's. Great Texas bar atmosphere. Live bands Wednesday to Sunday I'm pretty sure. Free pool on Mondays!

Oct 2024 - Riley's Tavern is a MUST STOP just on historical Texas reference alone. Don't let the outside appearance scare you away. it is rough but worth a look and a cold brew at the bar. I can't comment on the food, but there is/was a food truck, and you can bring it inside to enjoy. It wasn't busy, so the service was great. The inside of this place is as rough as the outside looks, yet sooo Texas ya got to LOVE IT! There's also a backyard area. So if you're in the area of Hunter, Texas, just off I-35 between Austin and San Antonio close to New Braunfels or San Marcos, stop in for a beer, take in the history and enjoy a bit of Texas folklore. It's worth a STOP! God Bless Texas!

Loftin Adventures

So many ways to describe it. Dive bar, oldest bar, historical bar, locals bar and many more. They hold the oldest and longest running liquor license in the state of Texas. We love coming here and when we have friends or family in town we always come here to show them the history of the place. Bathrooms are out back, beer is cold and shuffle board is free. They have a couple of pool tables, Randy Rogers filmed a music video here and you can write your name on the wall.

Its weird to go into a place that has smoking now but the vibe is the traditional dive bar and that's awesome. I love outside and it hasn't ever been too crowded. Overall, it's a decent place to grab a beer or drink with friends.

Opened in 1933, this Tavern is a real gem! The number of buildings still in daily use with the vibe, atmosphere, musical talent, and surprisingly enjoyable conversations is probably less than 5% of all available, open, affordable Tavern's within the United States continental boundaries south of Canada and north of Mexico. Take the time to swing by, order a cold draft, turn your chair half left or right, keep your mouth shut, your ears open, and a hint of a genuine smile on your face and you will do fine. Children are expected to have retrieved any missing relatives from the barstools prior to 8 p.m. nightly, and skedaddled home to their bedtime routines. Any questions regarding adult duties can be asked of the bartender after a fair contribution to their livelihoods. :)

Fun spot with a Texas country feel. I love that it is the first bar to open after prohibition laws were lifted. There is a stage for bands along with some room to dance. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The bathrooms were decent and are placed out in the back patio. We had a fun time. Great place to experience Texas country charm.

Old time dive bar. You can hear some great music here. Shame the acoustics and mix is not good. Easy enough to walk around until you find a decent spot, but the singers vocals were too quiet the entire night. Good deals on beer. Their kitchen is permanently closed, so ignore all the pics and reviews of food. Just booze, music, and old-school outhouses.
