Sabor Perú New Haven Reviews
Amazing experience. Amazing food. I love this restaurant I recommend to anybody that wants a Peruvian experience and food. Great atmosphere the nicest people. 100% reccommend. We had the fried fish and the seafood soup and the leche de Tigre. They were all well seasoned and cooked.
During our road trip from NJ we were lucky to find this hidden gem. Amazing food, great portions, decent prices, cozy family - friendly & clean environment. The tallarín verdes are a favorite and our daughter at it all up. The service was also on point. If you're in the area definitely stop by and get some real authentic Peruvian food.
This place is great! My husband and I went late on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded. We didn't know anything about Peruvian food and were looking forward to trying some new dishes. Our server, Jerusalem, was fabulous and was happy to describe dishes and make recommendations. Everything was delicious. There were definitely ingredients and combinations I was unfamiliar with, but I found several new-to-me foods to enjoy! We ate the yuca a la huancaina, the ceviche de camarones, and the vegetarian tallarin (noodles with a Peruvian pesto-like sauce). I tried the chicha, which is a sweet purple corn drink spiced with cinnamon. I haven't had anything else quite like it, and highly recommend it. My husband had the fresh mango juice which was also quite good. For dessert, we had lucuma ice cream (pictured) and churros. Lucuma is a fruit that tastes like coffee and butterscotch, so it works very well in an ice cream! And the churros were perfectly fried and sweet. We are very much looking forward to our next visit!
There is nothing from the outside or inside of this place can tell you that the food is delicate and delicious. The fried seafood was tender and crispy, not greasy at all. The portion for the side rice and salad was huge. I definitely want to go back and try ceviche and the soup when I am nearby next time.
Very friendly service... specialty cocktail was delicious. The food was good...not particularly special. Relatively reasonable pricing for 2026
After reading great reviews, I went to try the place but the experience was just ok. Ordered chaufa de pollo, saltado de pollo and tallerin verde de bistec. Fried rice was decent but chicken was dry. Actually loved the flavor of saltado but chicken was dry again. Tallerin was the most disappointing dish. It was literally pesto spaghetti with very dry steak on top. I love Peruvian food in general but this wasn't up to par.
I would give this place -5 stars if I could. Came at 830 and the waitress so rudely told us to leave after we had been given a table. we didnt have enough time to eat. Also this place smells like an old hotel or urine.
