Akimoto Sushi New York Reviews
I love the chicken terriyaki lunch special. The sushi is also incredible! Generous partition of food and friendly staff!
This is surprisingly affordable and fresh sushi. I should say we ordered vegan dishes for all eight of us, so I cannot comment on the sashimi or other sushi that there are other mixed reviews on. We enjoy the miso, avocado cucumber and sweet potato tempura rolls. The food was delivered quickly too! If you have a big family to feed and want to have sushi, this is a great option for vegans/vegetarians.
Affordable sushi that is actually great quality! It was delivered quickly & the sashimi all looked and tasted fresh. The spicy girl roll and yellowtail Serrano were delicious too! Will order again :)
Owen was phenomenal, super polite customer service, and absolutely divine sushi. A first time in NY on new year’s and would order food here again. Thank you.
Wow, exceeded my expectations!! I got their ‘sake don’ which is 12 pieces of salmon sashimi over sushi rice, and their ‘salmon lover’ which were 9 pieces of salmon nigiri + 1 salmon roll. Each order includes miso soup or salad. Both salmon orders were amazing and I felt so indulged with such beautiful preparation. Akimoto, I see you and appreciate you. I definitely look forward to ordering from you guys again. Thank you. Also, delivery person was very courteous and kindly called me to inform that he arrived with my order for no-contact.

Great sushi at an affordable price, has an option for a lunch special that comes with a side of soup or salad. Food comes out really fast compared to other sushi spots! You can tell they have professionals back there.
No complaints here. Been going here on a weekly basis for many months. The staff is always super friendly and knows me. The food is always great, no good or bad days, always consistently great. I recommend. Plus their lunch boxes are great for the price.
The quality is amazing for the price you are paying. Portion is good. Love the employees working there. The place is like a hidden gem small and cozy. Highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area. They are good ppl.

Not enough soy sauce in the container - not even enough for one roll. They also didn't provide a spoon for the miso soup. Ordered the 3-roll lunch special on GrubHub. Glad they followed the note to not add wasabi though. I would order again!
They are great for what they are. Service is quick and attentive. Perfectly cooked rice, veggies and chicken. They have lunch specials but Spacing gets a bit cramped during lunch hours.
Very good lunch specials for the price. Place gets busy during this time, noticed that a lot of take out orders were slamming the 3 sushi chefs but they seemed to be handling it we. Still got my lunch special, 3 Maki rolls, relatively quick. Very tasty and satisfying.
The sushi is very good and the service is fast and friendly. It is packed inside. The other dishes like chicken and white rice are also good. The sushi rolls and miso soup are very good and better than nearby places especially for the price. The rolls are better than Whole Foods and about the same price.
Went to Akimoto Sushi with 4 friends and the 5 of us could barely fit into the restuarant. It is scarce on space, almost claustrophobic, so don't plan on staying too long. The food was pretty good. We got the lunch Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki bento boxes, crab salad, spicy crunchy shrimp rolls, tuna sushi, miso soup, salad, and green tea. 🍣 The establishment seems to be family owned as the waiters were two young boys, both between the ages of 11-15. We paid about $80 to feed 5 people which is a bargain in my book. All in all, it's a no frill Sushi spot. The food is good, the portions are decent and the prices are extremely affordable. Do not expect stellar service but do expect to leave quite satiated with change to spare.

Got takeout for dinner comped by work. Not as fresh quality as Soho Sushi. The amount of soy sauce they gave (less than half a cup) was definitely not enough. The wasabi quality is also not good - weird vibrant green color. Won’t be getting this again - Sushi dinner set w/ miso soup: 6/10, I feel like the sushi quality wasn’t very fresh. One of the yellow tail nigiri pieces was a little bloody? California roll was standard. The miso soup is standard and good tho
Dinner time is sushi time for me so next I tried this sushi place on church st. In Manhattan and found this ordinary place has some extraordinary creations on their menu which was yum! Decor and ambiance of this place does not impress you but my order made up for everything else. Good food👍, must try if you are on a budget in NYC!!

Sushi was very dry. Didn’t seem like it was made fresh. Miso soup tastes mostly like water

Ordered from this place on Grubhub. The restaurant delivers it so your order can’t be tracked on Grubhub. Delivery was around 15 mins late from Grubhub’s delivery time. Food was not the best. I got the two roll lunch special (salmon avacado + eel avacado). Salmon roll was falling apart, and the eel avacado roll had about 90% avacado, 10% eel.

I ordered takeout, and you could tell the soy sauce is cheap it had a weird taste to it. The salmon avocado was decent but the spicy tuna had a fishy taste to it. I couldn’t even finish it for the fear that I would get sick.

Great food poor customer services. I called and placed my order for pick up. Woman handed me my food. I walked out the restaurant, just got another worker to run after me assuming that I took the wrong order. She took my food from me. I believe she did this because I am a black woman and the man whose good she thought I had is white. Embarrassing and I didn’t appreciate that treatment.
This is my first time ever getting harassed for a tip, the delivery driver was yelling and holding my food hostage for not giving him Cash tip, when i told him i always add tip after the delivery is done, i don’t feel safe ordering from this place
