Berlin Döner New York Reviews
Maestro Pasta is everything you hope a classic New York Italian restaurant will be. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is attentive without ever feeling rushed. The pasta is exceptional, made fresh in plain sight, clearly made with care and respect for tradition. Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced, rich in flavor, and thoughtfully prepared. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the pride that goes into the kitchen. I highly recommend the polenta fries to start! It’s the kind of place that reminds you why Italian food done the right way never goes out of style. Whether you’re visiting the city or a local looking for a reliable favorite, Maestro Pasta delivers consistently and beautifully. Highly recommend and absolutely worth returning to.
What a great spot!! My wife and I often enjoy trying new (to us) pasta spots and this one has probably been the best so far. I had the Pasticciata and Lasagna, for which the Pasticciata gets the spotlight, it is creamy and very flavorful, it was so good I barely took breaths between each bite. My wife had the Cacio e Pepe and burrata salad, the Cacio e Pepe was also very very good, it may have a slight upper hand over everything else we ordered, great taste, creamy and overall just incredible. Most definitely will be returning and recommend you give it a try!
Maestro Pasta in New York is pure magic — a slice of Italy right in the heart of the city! The hospitality is warm, genuine, and makes you feel instantly at home. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal — come a casa. It was so irresistible that I went back four times in just one week! This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian cuisine.
An excellent dining experience from start to finish. The food was authentically Italian and done really well. The interior decor adds a great atmosphere, and the staff were outstanding — enthusiastic, warm, and genuinely welcoming. Will definitely be back next time we’re in the US!
Delicious food, became one of my fav go to places in the city when I’m in the mood for pasta. The owner seems to really take his pasta seriously. Servers can sometimes make you feel rushed when taking your order, but they are not necessarily rude. I don’t take it to heart that much. Just know what you want before you get there. Food is always prepared with care and that’s what I really appreciate about the place.
Second time at this gem! Fantastic food (we have been to Italy a lot) and service. Haven’t had better pasta in the city. Highly recommend and will come back again and again. Thank you ❤️
I had only passed by before, but finally stopped in for dinner on a weekday afternoon. It was impressive to see the handmade pasta being prepared right in front of us. With both table and bar seating, it also feels like a good place to come alone. I ordered the Puttanesca and a glass of white wine, the portion was generous enough that I couldn’t finish and had to take the rest to go. The noodles were a bit thicker than I usually prefer, but overall I really enjoyed the meal.
Wonderful food after hitting the NYC with 2 kids we needed a great homemade meal. The service was friendly and the kids loved the swing benches :) We were cold and starving , fresh homemade pasta hit the spot. Lovely atmosphere, sweet staff with a great sense of humor:)
Went in expecting a good meal, but boy were we blown away! Each pasta was flavorful & bold. The Cacio a Pepe was one of the bests I’ve had. The service— incredible! Marco is an absolute gem! If the food had been mids we would come back for him alone. TY NY 💘💘
Staff is EXTREMELY kind and informative!!!! The food is FANTASTIC, AUTHENTIC & made to order!!!! They have adorable swings to sit on while enjoying your delightful meal. The staff also makes you feel as though you’re family. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the city!!
This place really delivers on both food and vibe. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by the sight of fresh pasta being made right in front of you — the guy working the pasta machine is actually the same one you’ll see in a bunch of their Google photos and videos on Google maps reviews. It’s a fun, unique touch that sets the tone right away. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and cozy with string lights that add a nice glow. The service was genuinely great — super friendly staff who made the whole experience feel welcoming. Now for the coolest part: some of the seats are actually swings. Yep, actual swings hanging from the ceiling. It’s a really fun idea, but heads up — if you want to sit on those, definitely make a reservation. We didn’t, so we ended up at a regular table (still comfy though). As for the food: excellent across the board. The Bolognese was a standout, but honestly, every pasta we tried — red sauces, white sauces, different noodle types — was on point. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Would happily go back — just with a reservation next time so we can snag those swing seats.
Amazing authentic Italian food. Alessandro is warm and welcoming and the food truly is a meal like you have never experienced!!! You will not be disappointed! We can’t wait to come back. The coziness of the tables and swings are so unique and inviting.
Got the Cacio e Pepe and it was unreal :) super creamy, perfectly al dente, exactly how I love it. The focaccia was fluffy inside, crispy outside, totally addictive. Chill vibe, friendly service… honestly, can’t wait to go back.
Truly an amazing pasta spot! Ordered the cacio e pepe and it was out of this world. Pasta was perfectly al dente and sauce was creamy but not too rich. Owner came by to check on us and was very kind!
We were in New York for two days and decided to visit this restaurant. Everything was very delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was excellent. Even though we were a large group, everything was well organized and attentive. The owner personally took great care of us, which made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming, like home. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.
My son and I walked into Maestro Pasta for a quick bite with no expectations and we were very pleasantly surprised when we were promptly seated at the bar and taken care of in a warm friendly atmosphere like we eat there every night. The surprise of this restaurant is that it is in a very touristy neighborhood, yet it has the feeling like a restaurant you could eat at regularly and always be satisfied/delighted with your food. We had such a nice experience. The menu was full of pleasant surprises and yummy choices. The service was friendly, available, pleasant, and proud of the beautiful food that they were making and serving. I look forward to going back and taking my GF, starting with the artichoke appetizer as a nice prelude to the homemade pasta.
I just had a fantastic dining experience with my husband and our adult daughter at Maestro! Alessandro and his team are terrific - they all made us feel so welcome. The food is delicious - we could see our pastas cut just before serving (which is special and unique) and exactly as we requested. The portions are generous and the wines were great. The atmosphere is great - beautifully decorated with an energetic feel yet still easy to talk and hear just our table. We loved Maestro so much that we are now planning some private parties there. Maestro Pasta is a true gem!
Berlin Döner always hits the spot! Fresh ingredients, juicy meat, perfect sauces. One of the best döner spots around!
Got a beef/lamb doner box and it was fantastic. My only gripe is I wish the box they put it in was a little bit bigger so I could mix it up a little so I could get each flavor in one bite. Definitely will be back though.
Had a great experience at Berlin Doner! Adnan and the owner is always friendly and courteous, making every visit a pleasant one. The food is fresh, delicious, and the portion sizes are great value for money. Highly recommend for anyone craving a tasty and satisfying meal!
Really deciduous & affordable, especially the falafel pita, & really kind employees! Been coming here on my lunch break and it’s quickly become my go to for an inexpensive and yummy lunch :) also shoutout to the man working today around 2:45, he’s very nice!
Super fast and the döner tasted amazing. I am from Germany originally and this was the best so far I had in the States in the past 10 years. Kudos!! Why? 1) The chicken meat tasted exactly as it shoud. 2) The sauce was perfect 3) The pita bread was nice, fresh and toasty, not a piece of rubber. Fantastic. P.S.: Yummy baklava also
I recently visited Berlin Diner in New York, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. I had high hopes based on the reviews and its reputation, but my experience fell short. The menu looked promising, offering a mix of classic diner dishes with a German-inspired twist, but the food itself didn’t quite deliver. I ordered a schnitzel platter and a side of potato pancakes, which sounded delicious. However, the schnitzel was overly greasy, and the potato pancakes were undercooked and lacked the crispiness I was expecting. To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach later that evening, which was disappointing considering I was looking forward to a hearty and satisfying meal. The service, on the other hand, was quite good. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to bring out our orders, which I really appreciated. The diner itself had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to sit and enjoy a meal. While my experience with the food wasn’t ideal, I can tell they put effort into creating a unique concept. Hopefully, with a few tweaks in the kitchen, Berlin Diner can reach its full potential. I’d be willing to give it another try in the future!
I generally don’t go to NYC with a list of “must try restaurants” or anything like that from social media; it’s either cooking at my girlfriend’s place or eating wherever she wants. This weekend, however, some friends insisted we try a hot, new restaurant on McDougal street. As we walked down the street, my eyes immediately focused on the illuminated, forest green, presumably 30-year old sign. I knew this would satisfy my hunger after a long, tiring day of walking the NYC streets; I’m from Texas so the preferred mode of transportation is a Ford F-150, legs not so much. Looking at the menu, I was set from the get-go on ordering the beef lamb gyro. But my indecisive self was torn between the pita, the homemade bread, and the wrap. Fortunately, Berlin Döner has excellent service and bat-eared staff. The man behind the counter heard me ask my girlfriend what she thought would be better and held up a pita and bread to show their size comparisons. I asked what he thought was better. “The home made bread all the way”, he said. My gut instinct, or maybe just hunger, told me I could trust this guy’s judgement. Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickled cabbage, white sauce, red sauce. He topped the gyro meat high with the toppings and wrapped it in foil to keep it warm on my walk home. I can’t fully speak to the atmosphere and experience of eating here, but if it’s anything like the experience ordering it is The Place To Be on a Saturday night in NYC. I still don’t really have a list of restaurants I’ve gotta eat at when visiting NYC. But if I ever make that list, Berlin Döner will be high up on there.
As someone who lived in Germany and who’s favorite street food was Döner, I was very skeptical about this place claiming “Berliner Döner” taste. BUT this place positively surprised me! The bread was fresh, tasty and had right thickness. They add the right sauces - red (hot) and white (garlic/sour cream). Meat tasted really good too - fresh and flavorful. Overall delicious döner - very close to authentic one from Berlin!
Maestro Pasta is such a cute place. Very small with moderately limited seating, but I was able to walk right in and get a table for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday with no wait. It was so neat to see the pasta being made right in front of you, and the atmosphere is so great. The service was amazing, VERY quick to deliver the meal and drinks, and very friendly. I got an espresso martini which was very delicious (just note, it is more on the expensive side, almost the same price as my meal) but it was amazing. Unfortunately, I felt like my food (Bolognese with fettuccine noodles) was lacking. The portion size was great, definitely MORE than enough food for me (enough for 2 meals), but the taste was not was I was expecting. It was quite bland and underwhelming compared to the environment. Overall, this was a good place to visit and I had a good experience, I just wish my food was a bit more flavorful.
We were hungry and thirsty while walking down this street, and decided to eat here. Definitely worth it. They hand made their pasta in front of our eyes, and the sauces were creamy, flavorful, and great portions as well. The place is small, but looked like you stepped into a little bit of Italy. Waiters were incredibly friendly and nice, and served with efficiency. Would come here again, definitely worth it.
Fried Artichoke hearts was a great starter and the garlic aioli was great. Tiramisu was surprisingly dry but not the worst, not enough coffee flavor. Tartufo with fettuccine was the best pasta dish, Anolini Pasticciati filling was flavorless but the sauce was good. Tartufo focaccia was super filling and tasted great but it was really heavy, I didn’t expect so much cheese and sauce. Atmosphere was amazing, food was good, service was all right.
Pleasantly pleased with the quality and service of this little hidden gem near NYU. The quality and quantity were great. This was my first time trying döner, it was definitely alittle different than regular gyro. The staff was friendly. I would recommend evto try this place if you are near NYU.
About 5’9 Indian worker who was absolutely disrespectful. Tried to belittle me and make witty remarks about my nationality. Thats not even the best part. I ordered a pita and home-bread chicken shwarma. Meat has fat all over it and most of it is undercooked/raw. Serious health violations eapecially sinxe my wife gagged and threw up after the 3rd bite. Please see picture attached and avoid at all costs.
