Carlow East New York Reviews
Class, bartenders amazing, espresso martini from Patrick is excellent.
Great experience!!! I been here a year or so and never forgot the great service I received before from Niall! Walked in today and there he was in a great mood even tho his football team didn't make the playoffs (Seahawks) like my squad the damn Giants! But great and convenient spot to check out. A pool table is available too; that's what got me before. Glad I stopped through and my Irish brother was there! I don't think they serve food here but the atmosphere is great and chill.
Brian made the pop in for a drink well worth it. He was a great conversationist and kept us all laughing. Definitely will be coming by again.
Great pub, Frank was the best bartender! First time in america, over from Ireland. Went in for 1 and Frank had us talking to the entire pub. Looked after us very well can't thank him enough, Thanks Frank!
Came in to sit a while and enjoy a refreshment after walking all day. Found the most delightful pub that was being overseen by a charming and inviting bar keep. Perfect experience. If we are back on the East side... we'll be stopping for another round.
We had a splendid evening at Carlow East! Francis, the bartender, is a ROCKSTAR! He pours the perfect pint of Guinness! He was so welcoming, convivial, and humorous! This is a gem of a pub, and Francis is the GOAT! Slainte!
Perfect place to have a drink before diving into MET or just relax after visiting everything around 90th Street. Can't comment on food (didn't notice a kitchen) but drinks are perfect & won't break a bank, especially for rail cocktails. Under $10 per drink - really good for NYC. Recommend: gin-tonic & gin Rickey.
What a nice find! We arrived when it hadn't long opened and the weather was hot outside, so it was nice to get in something nice a cool! It's a nice setting, chilled and great selection of drinks on offer. The service was excellent and we got chatting to the owner, which we didn't realise at first. Very nice guy and he even gave us some T Shirts! I wore mine a couple of days later during our trip! We would definitely recommend this place!
Nothing but fun. Bartenders are great, drinks delicious. Anytime you stop in you feel welcome
Frank made our time at the Carlow amazing. He was fun with the guests and honestly took our 20 minute stop in and turned it into an hours long hang out. Even though it was our first time coming in to the Carlow he made us feel at home and like we have been there 1000 times before. We will be back for sure.
This is a nice and casual pub which happens to be very spacious. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly! I've noticed that Carlow East is a neighborhood bar since there were plenty of regulars when I visited. Pro-tip: This is a great pit stop before and after visiting museums over on 5th Ave.
The owner and manager is a great guy and promotes a comfortable and easy going vibe. There is a younger staff member that was being short with not just our group, but other groups too. Maybe a bad day, but he seemed frustrated that customers were even there. Makes it difficult for me to go back.
The bartender was so so rude! He was dismissive, rude, and didn’t even respond to us when we asked for a drink. Literally ignored us repeatedly. Avoid this place as much as you can! There is much better place around (brandys!) The pool table is the only good thing about this place but the bartender (baldish blonde-ish maybe southern guy) was horrible. Honestly I think he hates his job. You’ve been warned
Bartenders are rude. Not good at providing customer service. Not sure who said something about one of the bartenders being racist but I wouldn’t put it past a certain bartender there. I see why no money is coming into that place, it’s not welcoming AT ALL! Oldest bartender guy said to me “ this is not a place to hangout. We have rent to pay.” Take that how you will. Misery loves company is all I can say lol. P.s. Heads up that this place does not serve food.
Bartender Andi is a blatant RACIST. I caught multiple instances of blatant racism. He was talking to two white customers who had their valuables on the bar when a Black patron walked up to order. Andi actually told the white customers: "Don’t worry about it, he’s cool, you know they steal." Beyond that, he literally made ALL his minority customers wait 10-15 minutes to get their order, constantly prioritizing conversations with his white patrons. When his POC customers finally ordered two regular cocktails, he claimed, "That’s too much work." You’re a bartender??? The bar wasn’t even packed. He took forever to make one mixed drink, forgot the second, all while he returned to talk to his white customers. To top it off, he looked at two minority patrons having a normal conversation about what was on TV, smiled at us, and turned the television off all while looking at us. How can someone be such a racist bartender in the middle of NYC? Making the Irish look bad smh.
I told the bartender about cash sitting on the bar so he can collect before someone steals it. He tells me “yeah it’s from patrons, do not touch it” 🙄 Bruh that’s so rude to tell someone who’s actually trying to help you. Can’t think of an explanation other than racism. Won’t return.
This bar is super welcoming! If you’re white. I’ve been here twice because a couple of my colleagues keep dragging me here. Every time I come here I feel really uncomfortable as a person of color. The bartender and the owner are extremely unprofessional and condescending. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
