China Red New York Reviews
One of the last genuine chinese takeouts in the neighborhood. They’re a treasure. No nonsense good fresh food.
Great spot for affordable and tasty Chinese food in Chinatown! China Red Gourmet offers generous portions, fast service, and very reasonable prices. The General Tso’s chicken was crispy and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the vegetables were fresh. Staff are quick and efficient, perfect if you’re in a hurry or ordering takeout. The food is always hot and well packed for delivery. Excellent value for the price and a reliable place for a quick, satisfying meal. I will definitely come back again!
China Red Gourmet delivers exactly what you hope for in a great Chinese restaurant: bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and consistently satisfying dishes. Everything tastes hot, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared—whether you’re ordering classics like General Tso’s or exploring house specialties. The portions are generous, the pricing is fair, and the service is quick and friendly, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout. The restaurant has a clean, welcoming atmosphere, making it an easy go-to for both casual meals and comfort-food cravings. Reliable, flavorful, and always hits the spot—China Red Gourmet is a standout choice for anyone who loves truly well-made Chinese cuisine.
This restaurant sets the bar high! Staff demonstrated subject knowledge while being friendly. The food choices here satisfy every craving. This spot met my hopes entirely. All parts of the experience are excellent.
My colleague recommended this place but I was half-hearted and sceptical after reading a couple of negative reviews that were posted recently. I decided to give it a shot. All that changed the moment I took my first bite. Hearty portions of comfort food (meat to rice ratio is almost 50:50!). Pricing is unbelievable in NYC. Reasonable is an understatement. Went 2 days in a row for a quick dinner fix. Panda Express move aside! This place is a no-brainer for your Chinese takeaway.
Ok i’ll order from here again but just not the fried rice. Why is the rice hard tho.. The chicken wings was good nice and crunchy fried, the beef broccoli had crunchy broccoli i was a fan, but it almost tasted stem raw. I didn’t mind tho, I prefer crunch over soggy. The beef was ok, the service was friendly. I’ll try something else maybe a lo mein, or white rice combo.
I get the same thing every time boneless spare rib tibs with extra sauce on the fries. The restaurant is very dirty menu has no color inside the restaurant pictures. People at the counter are disrespectful that’s how you know it’s good lol
Okay so where do I start first off upon entering the establishment there were only chairs with no tables insight the chairs were beat up and Raggedy with holes in them and the overall cleanliness of the front of the restaurant was dirty dingy and there were chicken bones on the floor that's the beginning I ordered General Tso's chicken and I asked him to make it spicy I had zero spiciness the rice was supposed to be pork fried rice and ended up looking like white rice or a slight yellow tint but it was okay the General Tso's chicken was not spicy at all they were big chunks but nothing really to write home and tell Mom about my girl ordered a half a chicken with fried rice and said the chicken had no flavor and was extremely dry and hard overall you get three stars simply because the food wasn't really disgusting but they had major room for improvement atmosphere is a one-star Services of three didn't really expect much but they wasn't rude catch you on the flipside jack won't be back
It’s fallen off a lot, I was here in 2018 and it was really cool with lots of foot traffic but I went just a week ago and they took all the chairs, there was stuff piled everywhere and no customers except me. Probably closing soon, still had a soda Mac that kept the drinks cold so I was cool with it.
This is worst Chinese food in NYC waste of money and chicken was disgusting barely edible don’t waste your time
I am a college student and I ordered food. When I proceed to go downstairs to receive my food the driver refused to give it to me and demanded a cash tip. I proceed to go back to my room which is on the 21st floor of my building. When I came back down the 2nd time the driver proceed to yell at me and complain about how long I took. Terrible service wouldn't recommend.
Despite the multitude of negative reviews, i still decided to give it a try. Ordered the chicken fried rice and was thoroughly disappointed as it's almost bland and could sense that there was no effort whatsoever in the cooking. Fortunately, the egg roll did help in putting some taste to the overall fried rice. Honestly, i think i can do better in whipping up a simple fried rice than they did. Then again, you pay what you get, I supposed😅. Left it as it is in the picture as i do not want to waste my stomach space☺️. Matter of time that this place would be totally ignored unless they do something about the quality of their dishes🥲😪. Hopefully, it's just my dish that is disappointing 🙏.
Let's start from the outset; there are no tables inside the "restaurant," so you have to take away your food. Also, the staff are rude!!! THEY ARE RUDE! 1. When I went there for the first time to buy a chicken broccoli, the staff at the register communicated with me with not a good tone. I bought the meals 3-4 times from there and thanks for the stuff, I won't go there again. 2. When I got my chicken broccoli for the first time and opened it, I mentioned that it takes a lot of time to mix them inside the plastic food container with a plastic fork. It's why I asked to mix it the next time when I was buying food from them. The cooks of that "restaurant" have all the tools to do it with no problems, and it's easier to do for them rather than a plastic fork. In response, they said "NO". I said to them, I will buy it in anyways, it is already mine. They repeated, "No, no". Is this your service to the customers? I don't know how they are still working there with such kind of disrespectfulness.
I took my first bite and immediately knew it was NOT chicken. I gagged. I ordered spring rolls and sesame chicken with brown rice and it was $26. This is NOT affordable. I ended up ordering other food and throwing it away. Never again. Some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Save yourself the energy and go to Joe’s.
