I really enjoyed this hot pot experience. We got there when they first open around 12pm. They have a wide selection of spicy and regular broths. The food selection was great you check on what you what and they bring it to you. Everything was fresh and well presented. They do request you pay the tip which is fair from the great service they give you. I will be going back

This place was great and better in my opinion that 99 Favor Taste. Had a large selection of broth choices, which was already a point in its favor. As everyone has mentioned, it's 40/pp which includes drinks (non-alcoholic) and a huge ice cream bar that even offers waffle cones or bowls. The broth was incredibly spicy even at mild and my family enjoys spicy so proceed with caution. I found the broths made everything taste delicious to the point I often found my sauce unnecessary. The selection of hot pot ingredients is smaller than 99 Favor Taste but I didn't mind and found what I did order to be delicious. The only thing I count as a con and made us nervous was the waste charge, we weren't sure what constituted as "waste", but thankfully we were not charged for a few pieces of bok choy. I think some people might find it a little less appealing appearance wise but I enjoyed that it was small and not particularly ostentatious. We had a bottle of soju and it evened out to ~50/pp for 2 people. It wasn't overly loud and was very uncrowded for 7pm on a Thursday night, so all in all had a lovely time!

Best hot pot I had in NYC, around 35$ per person for all you can eat (drinks included, 100 minutes). The broths are amazingly tasty, and generally more spicy than at other places. The meat, seafood and veggies were also fresh and delicious. Very authentic (just like in China) and very high quality. Staff is also very friendly. This place should be much more famous.

My daughter and I stumbled into this place after three other hot pot restaurants had an hour-long wait. I'm glad we did--the broth is delicious, the service is fast and friendly, and the menu is big. The cost is completely reasonable (we paid about $37 apiece for AYCE). The ice cream bar was big, but we were too full to try it. They adhered to COVID requirements and checked our IDs and vax cards. Excellent--will definitely visit again.

Best all you can eat hot pot in Chinatown. Sliced meats are sliced on premise daily, great vegetable and noodle selections, sauces are plentiful to suit the different taste buds of various regional Chinese customers including the newbs. They even give you recipes for popular sauce mixes you can try if you're clueless. Unlimited ice cream and drinks too!

This was an excellent experience. The staff is friendly and the hot pot broth and menu selections are great. If you're looking for a traditional Chinese food restaurant, then this is not it. But, if you're looking for a life-changing dining experience, come with an open mind and an empty stomach! This is a hot pot restaurant like none else I have seen in the U.S., It's more like the hot pot restaurants in China. We got the 2 broth pot, with a non-spicy beef and herbs broth on one side, and the most spicy broth in the house, Thai beef (hot level). The meat, seafood, vegetables, and meatball selections are perfectly cut and prepared, just ready to be dropped in the broth and eat seconds later. There are a variety of sauce ingredients available at the self-serve sauce bar, where you can create your own dipping sauce with the available flavors, such as sesame sauce, minced garlic, chili oil, sesame oil, peanut butter, chopped green onions, soy sauce, and white vinegar. Drinks are also included and self-serve. There are a variety of coke products, and some Chinese tea and juice cans/boxes. For dessert, there is a self-serve ice cream freezer with about 12 flavors, and mini cheesecakes and pies. The service is great and the restaurant is clean. Very nice atmosphere with a good mix of music playing, to include some Chinese and American popular music.

One of the best and reasonable hot pot restaurant in NYC! Staffs were nice, and every foods matched for their soup!

Hou Yi is my favorite unlimited hot pot place and the price is a steal. Included in the price is not just unlimited hot pot, but also ice cream and soft drinks. The wait staff is super attentive and there is a good amount of variety to specify broth (up to 2 kinds), meats, mushrooms, and veggies. I would definitely recommend getting there right before the peak hours on Google maps because it gets busy later on for dinner. The only downside I can think of is that it's an hour and 45 minutes versus 2 hours and I'm not even upset about that with the deal you get.

M
Marc Starvaggi

Good hot pot at average prices per person, but all-inclusive. They aren't stingy on how much you decide to eat and stock great ingredients. I took my family, who had never had hot pot, and we greatly enjoyed our time here.

First time at a hot pot. What a great experience. The food tasted really good and really fresh and there were SO many options. The "make-your-own-sauce" thing seemed a bit silly to me. Just give me some sauce, I'm coming here to eat not cook! Alas I was the only one in my group that felt that way, so 5 stars for the overall experience. Will definitely be back...maybe with some sauce recipes....

I really am really happy this is in my city. I think they have even managed to step up their game since my last visit. Given that it is all you can eat hotpot, you would think that the staff could be a little bit slower, this is not the case at all, they were buzzing at full pace, and super friendly. The selection of meats, veggies and broths are really quite good, and all the free drinks are great as well. We love coming here with just 2 of us, because we can get so much variety. This is just an overwhelmingly positive experience. we will certainly be back.

Excellent selection of hotpot broths and ingredients. The selection of hot pot ingredients is truly amazing. From sliced beef, pork, chicken, fish to all types of meat balls and veggies, the menu is exhaustive. Unlimited beverages (which include some delicious imported asian drinks) and they even have an ice cream bar with a dozen of flavors. Services was great and our party of 8 sat comfortably.

LOVE! Super flavorful, unlimited non alcoholic drinks and ice cream with your hotpot for $36. I loved that the broths were actually spicy (for reference I typically eat raw chillies with my food). I didn’t require a sauce because it was banging. We actually returned a couple days later because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. 😂

Great service all you can eat 30 bucks a person but really worth it. They say there is a 2 hour limit but that is more than enough time if you leave and your not full that's your fault

G
Gabi Sussman

Super fast service and a great, wide selection of serve yourself, all-you-can-drink non-alcoholic drinks, and a huge variety of serve yourself all-you-can-eat ice cream as well. Also, the staff are incredibly kind. They kept encouraging my friend and I to take the drinks that we hadn't finished to go and they kept making sure that we were well-fed and happy. Incredibly warm customer service. This is the lowest price that I have found to pay for hot pot in this area of NYC. While this price point means that you won't be getting the absolute highest quality of meat that you could ask for, everything is very fresh and clean. Delicious hot pot, drinks, and dessert that won't break your budget.

Starve yourself and then unleash your inner demon for all-you-can-eat, gluttonous two hours. No regrets! (Warning: Participants may experience difficulty vacating their chairs after due to their engorged stomachs)

Hou Yi was a great hot pot experience. Ordering was very simple and straightforward. We selected our broths, meats, and veggies by checking them off on a sheet of paper. The staff quickly picked it and the food was at the table before we returned with our sauces. The sauce bar had a good variety and basically anything you needed. With the price of the meal, you also have access to their fridge of soft drinks, which include both sodas and asian drink I grew up with. The quality of the food was pretty good. The staff gave us another sheet to order a second round with and proactively refilled our broth. Our meal came out to be $50 per person, including tax and tip. A great experience overall and I will definitely be coming back! Came back to Hou Yi and the experience was consistent with what it was before. They also expanded their outdoor dining to have rooms outside, which was very nice to eat it.

Really good experience everytime I’ve went- I’ve gone already 4 times. It’s not as popular as other spots in the area which makes it perfect!! Never too busy! They have ice cream as well with a lot of choices!!!

One of my favorite hot pot places — it’s tucked away and is less known than other options in chinatown but the quality of food, selection, service, and prices are all great.

P
Philip Stephenson

Food & soup bases were good. Service was extremely quick, dishes came out as soon as we ordered them. Very generous selection of drinks to choose from, you can help yourself to anything in the cooler. Good selection of ice cream. The sauce bar had most but not everything I'd have wanted.

R
Rafi Mercie Feliciano

This place can get really busy, but that just reflects on how good the food is and how nice everyone was. I've walked in twice in groups of 5 or more, and the wait was about 20-30 minutes. Totally worth it! Not only is the hot pot tasty, but so are the juice boxes! It should be noted that it gets pretty crowded inside, but they do have some outdoor seating with heaters.

J
Jacob Benton

Wow! Seems like it would be a small hole in the wall, but this place is bang for your buck. You pick out all meats, veggies and extras as well as one broth per person and then they give you 100 minutes to order whatever you want. Grab your own drinks, delicious sauce bar, doesn't get better than this for a hot pot place. All inclusive, with dessert, $40! Totally worth the money

The place was pretty nice we went there for lunch on a Sunday right after it opened and we had the place to ourselves. The waitress was very nice. She even invited us to order a second round since we had finished everything we ordered. It is a bit pricey for Chinatown but the food tasted good and they have a large selection of complimentary drinks and ice cream. If you like spicy food order the hottest one since the medium was not very spicy. The fish egg ball was tasty, shrimp paste too, and the meat was tasty as well. Highly recommended for special occasions. Make sure to go hungry!

The BEST hot pot place I’ve been to!! I’ve been to a lot of hot pot places in my life but nothing beats Hou Yi. The ingredients are so fresh and taste high quality. I love their wide selection of soup bases. There are unlimited beverages and ice cream included in the AYCE, which is an amazing deal. The staff is so kind, they are so sweet and always ask me to take more ice cream as I’m leaving. Such a great hot pot spot!

Excellent deal. All-you-can-eat buffet including hot pot, drinks and dessert at $40/person. Large selection of choices including broths, ingredients, and sauces. Super fast service. Nice ice cream flavors. 4.5 stars + an extra half star because they gave me a free blanket on a cold day since I didn't bring my coat.

an ayce hotpot place with good drink selection, ice cream, and hotpot choices. be warned that their spice level is high, and even the mild option was pretty spicy. the meats were fresh and other options had good variety of starches and vegetables. the staff were also very friendly.

Just came here today and we loved it!! Nice variety of different broths, will try the bbq next time. Don’t skip on the ice cream it was very good quality and worth making room for :) definitely coming back

Another great place for all-you-can-eat hotpot for vegetarians! They have a very good selection of soup bases (yes multiple great options!). Did I mention that they have all-you-can-have soft drinks, tea, juice (charge for beer) and ice-creams?!! When they say Spicy, they mean Business. I ordered mild and look at the photo below for reference. I loved the kick! Please remember that you can always add hot oil or hotsauce to your sauce, but can't remove the spiciness from the soup, incase you find it to be too spicy. They charge about $18 if you want to change your mind about the soup. There is no charge on the food waste, which may be a good thing because the portion of ingredients is not fixed. Example: if you ordered enoki mushrooms in round 1 and you got 2 bunches, for round 2 they may give you more (got 4 bunches and could not finish). So not sure how effective your planning may be on not wasting food. No to-go boxes (for a reason). They take reservations!!

N
Nicole Monet Rizzo

I met my match in spicy food. I can normally eat lava and even I struggled with the hot beef spicy pot. Good thing we got a combo pot. The pork basil was a lovely mellow flavor. But serious it's all you can eat here, order as many sides as you want, and get up and serve yourself drinks, and serve yourself ice cream after you are done! This place is the best.

N
Nancy Wang

Nice spot to visit for standard all you can eat hot pot, includes ice cream and drinks (non alcoholic). Mom-Thur pricing is 34.95 , diff pricing for Fri-Sun. We called ahead to place a dinner reservation, also ate outdoors and we were able to use both the small pots and larger pot (2 flavors) at the table.

Got to eat ice cream and spicy broth at the same time. Loved this place. Excellent meal to spend a lot of time with friends and do something fun.

L

Very unassuming, hole in the wall place. Decor is a little strange, but that’s okay. Came on a rainy Sunday night and the restaurant was 2/3 full. There is less variety of sauce ingredients than 99FT but still good. Unlimited drinks, hotpot ingredients, and self serve ice cream bar. No discount for cash only. Hit the spot and would come back here if I was in the area. Good service.

A bit more expensive AYCE hotpot than usually but you get a lot more included! So many different drinks available and ice cream flavors! The Thai chili soup base is really good but beware it is very spicy! Mostly good quality meats and food too

M
Mimi Kwak

We go there at around 12pm and it wasnt too busy and service was great. You can choose your broth both non spicy or spicy. A lot of choices of meat, veggies, tofu, fish cakes. I love the fact the drinks are free. You guys know that eating hot pot can raise your internal heat so jelly grass drink , Wang Lao hi, and other cool teas are important to balance the heat, this restaurant has it all. It averaged about $31 per person and you can eat all you can in two hours. Me and my bf are fast at eating so this is great and we finished by eating their ice cream, which has tons of different flavor to choose from.

My FAVORITE hot pot restaurant in NYC. Absolutely amazing variety of vegetables, seafood, grains, and sauces. For all you can eat you also get unlimited drinks (non-alcoholic) and ice cream. WARNING: The SPICY Broths are REALLY spicy!!! BE WARNED

Amazing all you can eat hotpot, plus an endless amount of ice cream and drinks (non alcoholic). The broth is super flavorful and spicy and the vegetables, meat, and seafood are all very fresh! Highly recommend as this is less touristy than the likes of 99 Flavor Taste and other large scale hot pot joints.

K
KayKay W

I love this place for ayce hotpot and also an all you can drink option too. Drinks are all soft drinks. The price is a bit more than other places but they have a lot more variety of meats to offer. For covid, the outdoor seatings now have heaters at each table for the cold winter.

A

My FIRST hotpot experience ever and I was not disappointed! The food and service were wonderful, unlimited food and soft drinks for cheap (only $4 beers) and friendly servers that are careful not to burn you with scalding hot water when refilling the pots. Yes it's on a sketchy street in Chinatown, but what else do you expect in NYC. Highly recommend to anyone in the area to give this place a try.

Not just a very formidable Hot Pot joint for china/Koreatown but one of the best in lower east side altogether. Decently welcoming staff, a sufficiently comprehensive menu, and kind/attentive service from the wait staff help make this hotpot restaurant a truly underappreciated gem on the lower east side. As an avid hot pot eater, I recommend you skip over the overrated/hyped joints like 99 favor taste and treat yourself to one truly authentic hotpot experience. Sauce bar seems light on options at first but ended up being one of the best I've seen. Cuts of meat were all fresh. Hope you get Ricky as your server, great guy with great recommendations. This is a must go to place when craving hotpot. I'm thoroughly impressed.

Although the store front looks like it’s an abandoned business, don’t be fooled. This is hands down one of the best hot pot places I’ve been. They offer an AYCE for 39.99, and it comes with chips and ice cream and drinks. Definitely will come again. 10/10 sleeper hotpot place and the type of restaurant I would definitely gatekeep

Amazingly good restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the plain-looking exterior — inside, it’s incredibly clean and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious — easily the best hotpot I’ve had at manhattan. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The owner (the lady who served us) was so kind and warm, truly made us feel at home.

It is great. You make your own sauce, you pick your broth(up to2), then you order ingredients on a paper, they come collect and then bring it to you. Self service drinks in fridge, and all the ingredients are ok good. My fav was the customizable clear broth. Its pretty bland on its own, but add your own twist with the sauce station and youre all set. One bathroom but very spacious.

Great dining experience. Large selection of soup base, seafood, meat, veggies, etc. Food is relatively fresh. Service is immaculate, servers were very attentive and helped cleared our empty plates quickly. They were also quick to bring us our dishes. Loved the Gelato bar and the unlimited drinks. I've visited this place twice and it hasn't let me down. I think this place is ran by a family so if you're about supporting local and family business, I would highly recommend this location.

Second time coming here and it has become my favorite hot pot restaurant. There are multiple vegetarian/vegan broths and options - way more than any other hot pot that I've been to. The vegetarian kimchi extra spicy broth was good and definitely had a high level of spice. The free non-alcoholic drinks and ice cream are also a bonus. The server was already very attentive about refilling our broth and clearing the table.

Excellent hot pot, great service (thank you Sandy!), and comfortable setting. Love this place, go when you are hungry ($40+ pp all you can eat in 100 minutes). On a cold and rainy day, go early, otherwise, be prepare to wait. We went at about 6pm on a rainy Saturday, it was quite busy but we only had to wait about 15 minutes. But afterwards, I think people had to wait quite a long time. We were quite happy with the very extensive selections of spicy and non-spicy soup base. We tried a beef based and a vegetarian based, both were very good. There is also a large selection of meat, tofu, balls, vegetables. Try a bit of many things and they are very prompt in getting seconds and adding soup when we needed. Alcohol drinks are extra, but all the soft drinks and ice creams (!) are part of the deal, including coconut drinks, lychee drinks, and yogurt juices! There are also many different flavors of ice creams after you are fully satisfied from the hot pot, so be sure to save just a little bit of room. Excellent Service: several servers were all pretty friendly, our waitress Sandy was particularly warm and helpful. She offered us to the drinks while we were waiting for our table, and she was prompt, courteous, and patient during our meal. I know the servers are pretty busy and stressed in these types of busy hot pot places, so I think it’s worth noting. The other thing about the service was: I think they set up their processes very well. As we walked in, we can see all the vegetables were organized neatly in the front, so when they get our orders, they can quickly get everything for us in a few minutes. Tips: the shrimp pastes were pretty special, you can put it in with the tofu dishes as soon as they start heating the soups. They should be ready once the soup boils. Restroom: just one unisex room, they kept it pretty clean.

This is literally my NEW favorite spot in NYC!!!! If you have NEVER had hot pot or even if you had this place is PHENOMENAL!!! I can’t complain at all and I absolutely love the service, they are so sweet, they explain things if it’s your first time and you will literally ROLL out of there with your free ice cream at the end. Omg!!! The food AMAZING! 10/10!!!!!!!!!

Do NOT be fooled by the outside. Yes it's derelict looking but trust it's worth it. Came here for date night and was a bit suspect based on the outside, but once you get in it's a pretty standard place. Staff was friendly and place was clean. We loved it was all you can eat for $40 a person, and note alcohol is extra. We got noodles, meat, and veggies and it was all fresh and super tasty. Well worth it and I'd come back.

Hou Yi Hot Pot, Chinatown NYC The last place who accepted us after being rejected from most of places because they were full until pass dinner time. It’s AYCE hotpot around $40 tax and tips excluded must be dine-in in 100 minutes. The price kinda pricey for a seating setup like that, but the food are really good! 👍- The outdoors seating booth pretty convenient, cool but not cold due to heater setup. - The service was good, super everything from fast service to friendly service, if you need anything you just have to keep waving until they saw you. - 2 soup broth base per pot, the pot is enough for 3-4 person. Broth selections has so many confusing options, but they will suggest the best one or the popular one if you’re confused. Make sure you know your spicy level, the mild spicy is already spicy for me who eat habaneros pickles. - super wide varieties of meat, pork beef chicken fish shrimp scallop - sauce bar selection has outstanding option you’re free to mix and match. - most cans drinks in fridge are included in AYCE except alcohol, but unopened drinks may costly if you accidentally bring them home. - has wide ice cream selections, it’s included in AYCE and you can take it home, some of these are soft ice creams. 👎- the meat selections are wide, and when you order too many of them, you’ll get confused which cut are they. I would stick to just one or two type of meat next time, to be safe. - they added hot water to the soup broth if you asked for broth refills, that kills the original broth taste. - only 1 restroom available when we’re there, the queuing made you losing the 100minutes for the food even faster. 💡 - if you’re choosing the non spicy, make sure the other is non spicy too, in case the taste got transfer and the whole pot turn into spicy. - call ahead prior dining in or make an appointment if coming with large group so your table is ready. #houyihotpot #chinatownmanhattan #chinatownnyc

Very good food and service but the place kind of looks a bit run-down for the price. $39 for all-you-can-eat hot pot, which I think is a bit too much for the overall experience. The server was kind enough to warn about the slickness of the broth, there is a charge of $20 if you want to make your broth less spicy. (No charge for making it more spicy). The intestines are very good and the shrimp paste. Beef is very fresh and the veggies are too. It is a nice place but too bad for the low chairs and tables.

I was literally here for hours with my friends eating their delicious food! This place was very warm and welcoming and their staff is just so nice! When it was too hot, almost immediately they turned on the AC for us. Whenever we ran out of meat to eat, they replaced it with a whole new batch of meat for us to cook and eat. The server kept coming over to check on our hot pot broth and making sure it wasn’t too hot. They not only follow all safety guidelines, they have such great welcoming attitude. Will come here with more people next time!

This was my first time here and I was skeptical being a Vegetarian. But I did enjoy and had a very good time at this place. They have amazing broths, and very good options for meat and veggies. There are spicy and non-spicy versions and spicy is more flavorful. You can eat unlimited ice-cream, have any sodas and drinks while you are there. ** Rated as one of the best hotpot in Manhattan ** $35 per person

I’ve been here multiple times throughout the past 5/6 years and it’s been a highly enjoyable experience most of the time. The level of spiciness is great and the unlimited drinks is an option not many Hot Pot places offer. Many might complain how certain waitresses hound you if you tip anything less than 15-20% , however, I also do believe one should not be dinning out if they cannot afford the minimum of 15% tip. After all, you’re getting a lot for what you pay for. However, the waitresses should learn to be nicer when asking about the tip. My friend got yelled at once for it & it ruined our meal. We were regulars at that point & I was so angry she was treated that way.

Great hot pot place that is just as good as 99 Favor, Hometown, or any of the more well known hot pot places. We cane during peak dinner time and only had to wait around 20 mins for a table for 2. This considerably shorter than other hot pot places on Grand Street. The quality of the meat and veggies are just as good, if not better than the more well known hot pot establishments. The only con I can think of is that during peak times the service can be a little slow due to the servers handling the flurry of customers coming and handling occupied tables. If they had 1 or 2 more employees, than, it would be perfect. I would definitely recommend coming here first instead of 99 Favor or Hometown. Also, the medium spicy beef broth is very spicy and the server will ask twice if you’re sure. But this didn’t stop me from enjoying it.

Packed, little spot that serves all-you-can-eat hot pot. Found this place by complete accident. We went out to try hot pot, not realizing how popular the cuisine is. An hour to hour and a half wait at most places in the area, fortunately Hou Yi could get us in quickly. Walk in to a busy hallway looking for the hostess to be seated. While waiting, I see people mobbing an ice cream freezer and I'm thinking, "WTH, patrons are just grabbing food themselves when no one is looking." I made a comment to my daughter like, 'look what they're doing'. Some long-haired white guy turns around, and says, "It's all you can eat, dude!" Needless to say, I knew then we had picked the right place. The decor is nothing to look at, but you are there for the food and ice cream. The spicy broths are really spicy! It is a little pricy for an all you can eat meal ($42/pp - even kids) but I ate my money's worth. My wife and kids, probably not though. I enjoyed it but won't be going back. NOTE- They have a rule that if you order a bunch of stuff you don't eat, they charge you EXTRA on top of the initial rate. It keeps people from asking for a bunch of stuff that just goes to waste and keeps costs lower for restaurant. This is different from other AYCE places and just something to keep in mind. You will feel a strong desire to order everything due to the price paid, but don't make that mistake.

Service was excellent, the people working there were so nice and informative ☺️ Food was good and ice cream was delicious. The only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars is because 1. we found it a bit too expensive. $32 per person, but when you’re only two people you don’t get that many top ups or refills and 2. All the cuts of beef were basically just fat. (Lamb and chicken delicious though)

Good food super friendly staff. Really enjoy coming here. They can get pretty busy during the evening, and they do institute a 2 hr table limit.

I really want hot pot right now in the midst of blizzard Juno! Just the thought of spicy broth and steaming food makes me hungry. At any rate, they moved to a new location over a year ago and increased their price but it is still worth it. We came during the weekend and it is $29.99 per person all-you-can-eat now including beverage, sauce and ice cream. It is still a fair deal considering how much you can eat. I like how the restaurant is now more spacious and clean and uses REAL utensil rather than Styrofoam plates and cups. The service was also very good; they don't rush you and they bring your food around quickly. In terms of food selection and quality, it is satisfactory. They have some really nice cut of beef and seafood options but it is not the best. Everything I have tried though, is fresh and delicious. Given the 99 Taste two blocks up is always an hour+ wait, I am happily dining here without the wait or the hassle.

Too bad it's only 100 minutes to eat. However the service and the foods are good. It came out quick.

Online says close at 11PM. They actually start shutting down after 10PM. We were told we cannot order anymore after 10PM. So come earlier! First time here. Food is small size but good. Soup base too much foam. Medium spicy is really spicy! 🌶️

A friend of mine has been dying to bring me here to try it out. This AYCE hot pot has great selection on protein, veggies, drinks, and ice cream! Everything was fresh. Spicy is spicyyyyy so be cautious on what level broth you want. I ordered the spiciest level and took turns eating hotpot and ice cream lol my friend and I also arrived when they just opened so it was not packed, and I did not feel rushed at all. Service was not bad, but I wish they were friendlier. I would not mind returning!

Good buffet with a good price. I think is great for people that are fan of hot pot. The only thing that didn't make sense to me is that you'll be cooking everything in the same water and the tastes mixes up, so you won't taste each order individually. I got to say though that even mixed up it tasted good.

Straightforward eat all you can hot pot. Entrance is a bit nondescript. I liked that you could concoct your own sauce. Also comes with drinks and am ice cream bar.

It’s a great value for the $ vs unlimited food/drink you get! There are a ton of options and the broth initially was delicious. I enjoyed the sauce station and the variety of soft drinks. However, once the broth started to go down - our waitress asked if we wanted more broth, when we said yes - she just poured a ton of water in. It completely diluted the taste of the broth / food and honestly ruined the experience for me.

Hou Yi Hot Pot operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so reservations aren't accepted, and there's often a wait. That said, this is a fantastic hot pot spot! The soup bases are exceptional--I tried the spicy pickled cabbage beef (HOT), and it lived up to its name. It's incredibly spicy and absolutely delicious, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you can handle serious heat. You can choose between a large shared pot or individual pots, and the menu features a wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and drinks. The sauce station offers plenty of options to customize your flavors, and I appreciated the self-serve selection of soft drinks straight from the fridge. They also have a nice touch with ice cream options, including cups and cones, to cool down after your meal. All things considered, it offers excellent value. The only downside was feeling a bit rushed due to the crowd waiting for tables, but overall, it was a great experience. I'll definitely be back!

Ambiance (4/5): Plenty of seating and we were spaced far enough apart from other patrons. The sauce station is tucked away in a cramped corner. It felt like a no-frills hot pot place. Service (5/5): We never felt rushed and felt like the service was on point. The time from when we order to delivery is definitely faster than competitors. Food (4/5): The shared pot has 2 flavors to choose from. Meats selection tasted great and there was a variety of veggies and noodles to pick from. The AYCE also includes soft drinks (loved the grass jelly) and an ice cream bar with like 12 different flavors with toppings like M&Ms and pocky sticks! Orders are placed via a paper menu. There were no premium meats and there was a lack of sauce options. We did not try any of the seafood.

Honestly, I love this hotpot place because of the unlimited free drinks, desserts, and good food it gives. But in the last few years, I felt that the quality has significantly decreased. I went this past weekend and my one gripe about it is they cut the meats TOO THICCC. See that? TRIPLE C's! Also, I'm not sure about the broth because I asked for the clear pork broth and when I tasted it, there was a weird aftertaste which left a very unpleasant feeling afterwards. I honestly felt that the quality of the food had been going down and as someone who appreciates good hotpot on a rainy day, this day was just not it for me. And price too? Nearly $100 with tip included for 2 people? No thanks...

I did not have a good experience here at all. It was my first time trying this place and it was packed during dinner time (understandable). We were offered a seat outside but we were concerned about the weather. They reassured us they had heaters and that after a couple of minutes we would be okay. We sat and never in the 90 mins there did it heat up. They had a tiny heater hung up which only warmed the tops of the heads of the 2 people sitting under it. The price was $39 which I felt was too much for such a small, run down, and uncomfortable location. The food was good but they only brought out very little at a time and they barely checked up on us. We kept having to sit and wait in the cold with no food until they came back out to serve us again. Maybe it would’ve been a bit better inside but it still looked crowded and uncomfortable. Nonetheless, our server who seemed to be a teenager, likely one of their kids, was very nice and tried his best to get the other heaters in the room to work. The food we would occasionally get was also good. There was also free beverages + ice cream

HUGE bang for your buck - we were basically hobbling out of the place because we were so full. Food is quick to arrive at the table, and the soups boil rather quickly on induction burners. We were a table of four and were allowed up to two different broths (one pot with a divider in the middle) with no up charge. The sauce bar, drink fridge, and ice cream bar is all self serve and unlimited. A few things to note, and a couple qualms I had: 1. Choose your spice level with caution. I’m a person that orders the highest spice level at any restaurant I go to, if I have the option. I ordered the medium spice broth, and it was almost inedibly spicy. 2. The servers don’t tell you what each meat is, so it’s difficult to tell the difference between cuts of beef, pork, and lamb without tasting them. 3. Our server scoffed at me when I asked for a couple additional pairs of tongs. They only give you one pair of tongs to share for the table, so it’s much easier to add and remove food to/from the pot if you each have a pair. 4. The restaurant is PACKED with people, and they do not check vaccination status even though required to. If that concerns you, you may want to eat elsewhere considering I was sitting about six inches away from other parties.

The restaurant looked like it was closed from outside, but it was pretty packed. I wish this place had better ventilation. I smelled like a hot pot after eating here. Every single clothing smelled that they are eatable. I like the all you can eat/drink hot pot concept and the food they offered was not bad. Nothing every impressive, but it is a nice hangout spot. The price was reasonable. Each of us paid like 30 something dollars.

We heard of this place from my girlfriend's friend. The decoration and furnitures are very simple. The waitresses ignored us few times, which is not too friendly. This is the hot pot store that has most soup bases I had ever seem, but I only tried two. They are also not as good as I expected. If anyone has recommendation on soup base, please let me know. If you decided to change soup base after they served to you, you will be charged $20 for it. They will also warn you if you want really hot soup base. Food choices are somewhat limited. The only thing I like is the meat. I personally do not think this buffet store worth $50+/person. Drinks and ice creams are included, but alcohol drinks are not. I personnaly won't come back to it, unless someone tell me that I missed something amazing here.

I am a veteran hot pot eater, been to most of the competing hotpots in the area. Positives: Staff is nice, they have an assortment of box drinks and canned soda, that is all you can drink. They also have a wide variety of ice cream flavors for desert. Cons: its the highest priced hot pot in CTown. The ambiance of the place is dark and rustic for a lack of a better word. One of the most important cons of the place is their sauce selection, all of their competitors have a much better assortment of sauces and even have their own homemade formula and design. We went with 2 beef broths, and we found them bland and underwhelming. Summary: the ingredients seemed fresh, but all in all, being the highest price per person, and the average overall experience, its unlikely we will come back to this one.

I feel the quality has declined over time. Broth was boring and essentially just very lightly flavored water with nothing solid inside. (Pork bone soup had no pork or bone, tomato soup had no solid tomato) For the price there are a lot of better options in Manhattan for hot pot. Drink options and ice cream was the usual stuff Food was average Building feels like it's on its way out and needs some fixing

The food is not fresh, all frozen meat, sometimes taste sour. Won’t come again. Unlimited drinks are nice though.

The service is so so so incredibly BAD. If you come to Chinatown, I definitely won’t recommend you. First, we asked them to change the pot because it's burned, and we cannot eat the foods for sure since all foods in the pot got a burned smell, and the taste is so bitter. We, then, ask the waitress(probably the owner) to help us, but she just stirred the soup and try to charge us for $20 for just changing the pot. The service was also pretty bad and terrible, and the foods that we’ve ordered were not arrived. Moreover, while we were checking out, they force us to pay the tips, which is really unfair for us because the foods and services are not worth it. Pls, go to the other restaurants. I'm sure this one is the worst.

I'm vegetarian and I've had hot pot buffets with plenty of good vegan options. But this is not one of those. The tofu/soy based options are limited. The hot pot ingredients do not taste even remotely fresh. It's simply not worth the price if you're vegetarian. Maybe the meats are better. Also, they have a lot of options, so don't go here if you're not a seasoned hot pot patron. The options in broth, sauces etc. might be overwhelming and you could end up with combinations that don't go well together.

The food was good, but at the end of the dinner when we paid, there was a cash tip we left on the table, not electronically on the card. The waitress stopped us and loudly said “you aren’t going to tip when you had a $90 check?” We did tip. 25%. It was on the table. Extremely rude waitress who ruined an otherwise great evening. This is the place that my partner and I first went to together and it had special meaning to us. After this interaction with her, we will not be returning.

All you can eat? More like all you’re allowed to eat….went in today after seeing food bloggers rave about this place. Traveled across NY to try it. After ordering our first round of meats/vegetables we were asked if we wanted more and given another sheet. After completing another small order we were not given another sheet and we looked around for someone to ask. Instead of getting a sheet we were given our bill and the hot pot was turned off in-front of us. To our disbelief that signalled to us that our dinner was over. We had ordered two small rounds of food in order to try a bit of everything and ended up leaving still very hungry. We were told don’t forget the ice cream was included in the piece. As if ice cream is going to fill me up after being cut off from my meal. Was not worth the $100 we paid for it. Absolutely disgusted with the experience we have just had

To be honest, this hotpot restaurant was a big let down! Our first server was very kind and friendly, however the second server was unwelcoming and rude. After requesting her for more food, she suggested we wouldn’t be able to finish the food in our pot. She would remind us every 5 minutes in a condescending manner, even though we were still eating. She would refuse to give us more food and it pressured us to not make any additional orders. Overall, we left feeling rushed; which for the price definitely was not worth it. Keep in mind we paid around $50 each for subpar service and food. Save your money and go some place else where the broths aren’t bland and the quality of meats are better.

The food was great…but that was it. The customer service sucked. It started out great but my table was RUDELY rushed by the staff to leave and then FORCED TO TIP. Granted there are timed dining options, however the table near us that came in around the same time did not receive the same treatment. When we got the bill and decided to leave tip section blank due to the rushing and harsh attitudes, the lady handed it back to us . We ended up tipping her much more than deserved and she looked at our money with disgust. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!!

L

This place was a little underwhelming for such high reviews? 4.3? I dont think it deserves anything above 4. We came here because the place we wanted to go has 2 hr wait. The food selection was good and is ayce but the meats seemed to be frozen. My bf felt sick and vomitted afterwards, but I was fine. At the end of the dinner and we got the bill and havent even left the table, the waitress came to clean up and asked how much are we tipping.. While I understand working in service industry is tough but that was unacceptable. For the above reasons, 1 star.

Wow. Soup was made from premade, overly salty, and really musty(?). All ingredients frozen. Exterior was grimy. Interior was falling apart. Got diarrhea after. Just avoid.

I usually don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I felt like I should warn people. The place was dingy and the mural on the wall had a bunch of eldritch monsters with tits- super weird vibes. The food was rough too: the soup base was bland, salty, and musty all at once, and the meat and seafood were frozen and tasted off. Definitely not worth $39.99.

rachel

This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I have EVER had. I came here for about 15 minutes to meet family visiting from out of town and did not eat a single thing because there were no vegetarian options. Despite this, the waitress argued with me, was extremely disrespectful, and still forced me to pay $52 just for being present. She never once acknowledged me the entire time I was there until it came time to demand payment, and when I explained that I hadn’t eaten, she continued to argue rather than listen. I left upset and disgusted by how poorly I was treated. I regret not asking for a manager, but based on the service I received, I doubt it would have made much difference. This restaurant clearly has no respect for its customers. If you have any sort of dietary restriction or respect for your time and money, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
