Melody's Piano Bar New York Reviews
Great music, great vibe, great service. It would be nice if there were more vegan options on the menu.
I’ll be honest, I only had wine here. They have coat check before entering the space and there was no wait time Saturday evening during jazz. The jazz was excellent. The wine was good. Even though it was super busy and lots of shuffling among small and large crowds my glass was always full. I enjoyed this space because it felt intimate like it’s closed off but it’s fully open and spacious. It was easy and inviting.
First time but not the last one!! Amazing place, awesome cocktails and the most friendly staff ppl!! definitely be back!!
Had a wonderful experience here. Great staff, little tapas, wine and music. Really enjoyed spending a few hours one evening here and will absolutely be back. Very comfortable and chill vibe on the UES.
Popped in for a quick drink before a concert at around 5:15 on a Wednesday. Really nice live piano music, great service and delicious cocktails. The Hail Cesar was perfect. Didn’t get any food so can’t comment, but would recommend for happy hour.
What a charming neighborhood find in the UES! We had passed this establishment many times in the daytime and never noticed . Then we had the opportunity to wonder in one evening on our walk. It has wonderful decor and an inviting vibe on the inside. And A Great and amazingly talented piano player! We came on a Thursday. Excellent bar food though selection is limited. The jazz band that followed the pianist were great musicians but the vocalist was horrible. Surely they could find a woman singer in the great city of New York who can actually sing. Disappointed in the music. Beautiful space with amazing ambiance and wonderful service. Will definitely go again. Hoping the next time there’s a better vocalist with the band. We actually snapped out of the dream and left because the singing was so bad.
Super cool spot with fantastic service, great drinks and good selection of bites. I really love the decor, it’s so elegant and a great addition to the neighborhood. The live music was so wonderful plus I made some new friends! Can’t wait to go back. In addition the ac worked well and it’s spot less clean and the chipped ice and crystal glassware is fabulous. Very diverse crowd too. Check it out!!
I got the blueberry nights and my date got the old fashioned. All good, service a bit slow but they apologized and said because Monday nights are usually not as busy. I could see that because around 10 it was all empty, but after we were there for an hour it was suddenly packed with a group of people. Would go back here for a drink with friends too. Live piano which is also ++
I really like this music venue. The atmosphere imbues elegance while musical vibes from classic American sounds permeate the air.
An elegant and classy ambiance with live jazzy music, cocktails but limited food options. Also a cheese plate is only 2 cheeses and beef sliders also come as a duo (we hoped it would be 3 per dish). Your Royal Highest cocktail was good in the moment and not to sweet but I had such a terrible headache after I had 2.5 (and it is definitely within my alcohol tolerance level) and had to stay in bed for half a day after. They must have used some really cheap prosecco, I rarely felt so bad in my life.
Came here on a Friday night at around 8pm, the place was busy but we were still able to get a table. Drinks were okay, not overly pricey. Be aware you'll get a $20 music surcharge, so make sure to spend at least an hour there to get your money's worth. The live music was very nice however at some point it got so busy and loud that I could barely hear the band (we were sitting in the front part). The service was extremely slow.
My experience at Melody Piano Bar was extremely disappointing. Shortly after my visit, I discovered suspicious charges on my credit card that I do not recognize and did not authorize based on my order. Despite multiple attempts to reach the bar for an explanation, I received no reply. This situation is alarming and shows a complete lack of responsibility toward customers. Please be very careful and monitor your card transactions closely if you visit this place.
Unfortunately the doorman/manager is incredibly rude. We had a table and had a hard time flagging the waitstaff, so we went up to the bar to grab a few drinks without a problem. The man noticed and quickly came over to apologize and tell us they would take care of our drinks, because service was of utmost important to them. We later received the bill and were promptly called liars by the doorman/manager for reminding him of his promise to comp the drinks we sought out ourselves. Disappointing and unprofessional, will be taking my business elsewhere.
The bouncer Mike was so rude he barred me from entering when I mentioned a group of ladies should be let in before a group of guys smoking due to the extreme cold weather despite groups of people leaving. He even pushed up on me with his body to assert his dominance despite being on public easement. Liz is the greatest jazz singer though so if she’s there it might just be worth dealing with the sour bouncer
Omg $30 flat (pre tax and tip) for a martini that uses canned gross green olives!! Ew!!! I have no problem paying that for a GOOD martini but this was insane- a dive bar martini for a bemelmans price!!! (Actually more expensive than bemelmans!!)
They don't have a posted dress code (that I can find) but I was turned away in the middle of a thunderstorm for not adhering to it. I had on a monochrome t-shirt and khakis. I work in the area and will be recommending my clients go elsewhere.
The atmosphere and ambiance of this place was great. Music & clea. But the waitress we had (never got their name, someone with tattoos) was very passive and rude from the get-go. I work in the service industry and voice tone/body language goes a long way. The way they told us “it’s going to be a $10 music fee”…. Ok that’s fine. Then when I paid, tipped and signed the receipt, the waitress rushed OUTSIDE to catch us saying we need to sign the receipt and “it’s OK if you don’t want to leave a Tip”, when the merchant copy was signed AND had a tip. They were looking at the customer copy which I had left behind with the merchant copy in the bill tray. So awkward, no apology, didn’t even acknowledge that it was their mistake for looking at the wrong receipt after trying to find us outside and assuming we didn’t leave a tip for an already horrible service.
