Nous Espresso New York Reviews
Best coffee and snacks on campus.
Best coffee and snacks on campus.
My favorite coffee shop on the Columbia campus. They brew Stumptown coffee and make sushi, soup, and sandwiches onsite. The service is friendly and the quality of their offerings is very good.
Nice sushi and great espresso!
Great space. If you're an undergrad, you can just saunter in if you look like a grad student. "Forget your ID"
I love love the food of this cafe. The atmosphere of all the employees is professional and sweet. Food is prepared well and the drinks are delicious. I love love Arianna, she always makes sure to make little hearts is my latte and is super sweet. No complaints what’s so ever. I’ve never had a problem with enjoying my lunch at the cafe area!!!
This cafe is literally the best. When I come out of school I usually go here. There’s this one worker, I think her name is Ariana? And she’s makes the best drinks, and does a lot of drinks really fast when I’m in a rush lol. I also love how light the cafe is and how much out door lighting comes in, which is an amazing quality. I would always come here!!
updated: awesome awesome place! i always go out of my way to go here and it's such a pleasant experience with the crew there! lucie and ariana are the best and so is the rest of the crew, but i havent gotten to learn their names yet. their drinks and customer service is excellent and it feels like a tight knit group/community which you dont usually find in these new york city streets, to say the least! i also love the food, in particular the pork banh mi and as of late i have a newfound love of the cream cheese pockets. i'm happy i found this place a few months ago and the friendliness/excellent customer service along with the delicious beverages and food is one of the reasons i will be returning! happy customer!
The workers this place hires is amazing! This one barista, i believe her name is Arianna(?) curly hair, latina, she very much makes the atmosphere so welcoming and always is making my matchas amazingly well. I recommend this place 10/10
The best place for coffee and delicious snacks on Columbia's campus. Great báhn mì sandwiches. Also, if you want sushi on campus, Nous Espresso is your place. Only open to graduate students and faculty.
Service is terrific, all staffs are so friendly. For coffee, all of them are good but especially cold brew coffee is so strong I can't drink it at once. It is great coffee for writing manuscripts...

You need to be a graduate student or specific faculty – or you know someone who is – in order to access to this spot. It is located inside the Graduate Student Center of Philosophy Hall. To the left of the entrance is where the cafe is located. You need an ID badge to enter. The inside the cafe was quite nice! Very high building, clean and modern. A good place for grad students to relax in peace and quiet. There is an ordering counter with baked goods nicely displayed. They also have sandwich, salad, soup, and few other items here. We started off with Hot Matcha Latte and Iced Matcha Latte, with pretty good matcha flavor. It was surprisingly good, we were happy with them both. For food, we Avocado Toast and few donburi dishes. The Avocado Toast didn’t look like much, but it was actually REALLY good! They have a few donburi, and we chose Tuna Yukke Don and Gyuu Don. It came out without poached egg. We took it back to the staff, and he said “yes, you can order these without eggs.” Ummm, well, we DO want to eggs with these. The older staff got a bit confused, went to the back kitchen, and then discovered they don’t have eggs brought in yet. What! About 10 minutes of wait, they brought in eggs, and made the poached eggs for our dishes. Needless to say, our food was staring to get cold, but not too bad… Finally, the egg was on the top with some seasoning, and the our “bowls” were finally complete. They were good and tasty. To finish our lunch, we ordered a cup of Mango from inside their refrigerator. They were all perfectly ripe and juicy! Overall, the experience was good. The price is a bit high, but then the quality of food and drink was really good too. If they didn’t have the egg incident, it would have been much better experience.

Of Columbia's student cafes, I think it's at least on par with the various Joe's, and certainly better than the various Blue Java outposts across campus. But the price point is a little higher than comparable spots.
Exclusively for graduate students. Not too noisy, sushi aight, ordered the chicken rice bowl. Would be nicer without plastic containers.
Generally quiet, but can get too crowded/loud. For grad students only. Good lighting and coffee. Overpriced food
Really delicious coffee and great place to work, but place gets packed after 11AM. Food is overpriced but looks good.
Cool place for students to gather. You need access key to enter or someone to open the door for you.
You will need a Columbia ID/a friend who is a student at the uni to be let in. This place gets a lot of daylight and grad student footfall through the day. It's a great place to work if you have high tolerance for ambient noise/a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. Grab a donburi or bahn-mi when your stomach starts to growl from too much reading!

Their gyudong is really delicious and will fill your stomach for a whole day basically. The soft-boiled egg will upgrade the whole taste. But it is definitely expensive for a just deli. Except the price, everything was satisfying.

Food is good but pricy. If you order soup, be sure to ask the cashier to double check if it’s still in stock. They might charge you and then find out the soup jar is empty.

The SIPA cafe is less crowded and the employees hate you less. Food is still awful though
