Osteria Laguna New York Reviews
Food was delicious. My wife wanted to lick her plate, lol! Service was great. It does get a little loud when it’s crowded so it can be hard to have a conversation, but I’d still definitely come back.
Good Italian restaurant near Hotels in Manhattan. The waiters are quite professional and attentive, refilling water and replacing condiments when they notice they are low. Good atmosphere and lighting. Good food, pizza is 9/10 and lasagna is a 10/10. Chocolate Lava cake was the bomb. This has made my trip to NYC a lot better, and will for you too! It also gives off some Linguini's restaurant vibes (the restaurant from Ratatouille). Very good
Really great food. Planned a trip to the city and wanted to eat somewhere close to Grand Central. Was a bit wary because of the negative reviews from a few years ago, but I guess it’s new ownership bc it was great. Cesar salad was great, the bruschetta was nothing incredible, but the main courses were absolutely fantastic. I got the penne al pomodoro which was incredible, but my girlfriend got the salmon goat cheese ravioli and it was one of the best things i have ever tasted. on top of that, friendly service, convenient location, and overall great experience. a must for good food at a reasonable price.
This is my go-to place for meetings with business associates whenever I'm in New York, good quality Italian food, classy venue, professional service, and not too fancy so it's still comfortable for chatting. Location near United Nations also helps.
Food was incredible! Service was so friendly and informative. Location is perfect, and the interior and atmosphere is perfect.
I was in the city for a day trip this past weekend and we decided to eat here and it was the best service I have ever had. The food was great, and the service was the best I’ve ever experienced! Would definitely stop by again the next time I’m in town!
My wife and I were in New York for a week and this was one of our best dining experiences. Excellent wait staff. Excellent entrées. Just what we needed after a long day.
Stopped in for crème brule and a coffee with baileys. Food was delicious, service was excellent and the restaurant decor and music was lovely.
After watching a Chopped re-run and seeing the head chef take home first place, decided to try some take-out - Proscuitto San Daniele pizza and Raviolini di Salmone. TLDR: both dishes were amazing, give this place a try. First off, the pizza - the dough was impeccable - I was eating with someone who lived in Italy for many years and is notoriously picky about Italian food, and they were in heaven. The last time they enjoyed a pizza in NYC was from Lucali... and let's just say you don't need to deal with hours of waiting here. The proscuitto was also great, you can tell they are using high quality ingredients. The ravioli was also great - pasta sauce was light enough to let the texture/taste of the pasta shine through. Tasty salmon filling. If you're looking for huge portions this probably won't satisfy you but for taste/value ratio we will definitely be having food from Osteria Laguna in the near future.
The food is extraordinary! It’s so hard to find authentic Italian food in USA. I’m from Europe but live in Detroit and haven’t had good Italien food in a long time. It’s worth every penny and Osteria Laguna is a perfect example that excellent food can be affordable. Highly recommend this place.
Very good overall experience. Had the frito misto which was very fresh and light. Amazing flavor with just the right amount of salt and a marinara I wanted to drink. I also had the shrimp pesto. Excellent homemade Al dente pasta, shrimp were not overcooked and pesto was very flavorful without being overwhelming as many pesto’s can be. Ended the night with the tiramisu. It was the perfect size- and delicious! Very creamy, and flavorful, but not too sweet. Would order a few of these for a meal by themselves. Service was quick and fairly attentive, though I was dinning alone on business which results in usually slower service as I find I can be forgotten about. No one forgot about me here, but they forgot to bring Parmesan after my food. Brought some right out when requested. Not crazy friendly, but that’s NYC… but kind and plenty nice and welcoming.
My hotel is in front of the street, I was surprised by the quality of the food. Wow. I order the Bufala caprese salad, Bruschetta and the spaghetti ala vongole (delicious). Very nice place, service friendly and attentive the Italian way. I recommend ♥️ I can’t take picture before was so tasty 🤤
Decided to pop in while walking past. Great atmosphere, busy, and the food came out very quickly for 2 people. Fast service, but didn't feel like being rushed. Pizza was nicely cooked in the brick oven, and the spinach ravioli was delightful. Service was top-notch. Waiter Santiago was great. Affrogato to finish the meal.
One of the best meals I’ve had in The City. Dad with 3 kids, 8, 14, and 16
December, 2024. We asked the waiter for Sicilian pizza - the only one my grand niece will eat - pefect! Lava cake scrumptious. My pasta dish with truffles was exceptional. Highly recommend - going again this weekend.
we stayed at the Westin hotel for the TCS marathon, which ks 50meters away amd needed pasta for the run, ee went there 3x also after the run. Alexander smd his team were famtastic amd took care of my family. I have been to NY many times but this place is the best
Excellent service. Very attentive and prompt. Lovely atmosphere, they decorated it for the holidays which I appreciated. We got the mushroom risotto and the salmon ravioli. The risotto was just what I was looking for and the ravioli was such a fun treat—really great flavor combination. The tiramisu we got for dessert was light and airy, with an excellent coffee/rum flavor. Everything was great for the price.
I meet a girlfriend there every few months for lunch. It’s lovely and the food is excellent. There pizza is some of the best thin crust I’ve found and I’m a New Yorker.
Great place for a solo diner, a couple or a large group. Friendly, knowledgeable servers are very accommodating. There’s always a wonderful selection of specials. I’ve been here many times and love all the pasta dishes and risottos (and I usually never eat rice). Tonight’s risotto with squid ink and scallops was outstanding. At this price point, it’s the best in the UN area.
very good, we got this place recommended by someone who’s a local in new york and my family and i are visiting from atlanta ga, and this is our last day and we stayed at the westin grand central hotel and across the street was this restaurant and its was amazing, you should visit.
The food was delicious without any weakness. Each item on the plate contributed to the overall experience, with the salmon being a highlight and the desserts a perfect ending.
Great food, Excellent service, very nice staff who have been extremely helpful. The manager is top and assist the guests very well giving the chance to choose your seat. Very nice environment and pleasant. I Highly recommend. Dr Malick Sy
A very nice and classy restaurant with excellent food quality, and most importantly: BIG PORTIONS 👌 😀 Very friendly staff! Food takes a bit of time, but it's WORTH IT! Nice atmosphere, they never play music 🎶, which I know is important for some people. It's a restaurant where you can talk! Very nice desserts, very exquisite. And the prices are VERY reasonable! Especially for New York! I absolutely recommend and would definitely visit againt. It's worth it!
This is my go to Italian spot near Grand Central station. Excellent friendly service with engaging staff, authentic food -no mass produced pasta here! (some favorites are the meatballs and the pappardelle pasta), and cozy atmosphere. I will continue to return! Highly recommend
Lovely eatery in midtown with delicious food and excellent service. Finding places to eat in Manhattan is easy. Finding that place to also be a respite from the hustle and bustle of life, that can be tricky! Especially on 42nd St! Osteria Laguna checks all the boxes. Great food, great service, and the ambiance is far above anything you'd expect to find on 42nd St! We were able to eat and enjoy conversations with our friends effortlessly, despite being in a crowded restaurant near Grand Central Station. Our party of 4 sampled a variety of dishes and desserts - each dish plated beautifully and presented in a timely manner. Desserts were delicious as well. The only downside was a lukewarm cappuccino served while awaiting dessert.
Came here twice during my 3-day work trip in NYC. The first time we came for dinner last minute and had no issues getting seated. The food was so amazing that I had to come back for lunch a couple of days later. They were much busier during the lunch time but the staff was amazing. Food came out extremely quickly so it was perfect for a short lunch break.
Great restaurant. Booked family dinner reservation because it was close to our hotel and was certainly glad we did. Service was top shelf from the moment we walked through the door. We felt valued throughout the dining experience. Good food, proportions were plentiful and prices fair.
Just happened to be passing and paid a visit. Good ,warm host. We had a mixture of dished , lasagne , risotto, steak, and the lamb, all cooked to perfection and tasty. Nice atmosphere. If we are back in the area, we would return. Thanks Osteria Laguna
I ordered friend calamari and margharita pizza. Both meals were very delicious cooked with high-quality and fresh ingredients. I sat on a patio to enjoy the street view. The atmophere was nice. Indoors atmosphere is also very cozy and welcoming. I loved the service provided. The staff was very attentive, friendly and positive. The washrooms were clean. Overall, I had a very nice experience having a lunch here. I recommend this place.
Nice cosy Italian restaurant serving homemade pastas, pizzas and many of the usually dishes. Service was attentive. We ordered the Insalata Mista to share. I had the Tagliatelle porcini which was very nice, with the pasta cooked al dente and tasty bits of butternut squash and mushrooms. My son liked the Trenette con gamberi. The pesto is made to order for each pasta dish so it was very fresh and tasty. We finished with the flourless chocolate lava cake. We loved that the homemade pasta was al dente and not overcooked as is the case in many other restaurants that serve fresh pasta. Overall an enjoyable meal. We would definitely come back.
A friend and I were visiting from out of town and we like to scope out good places to eat. I was glad I made a reservation because it was packed - the place looked small on the outside but we were taken through the whole place and it was huge. We got a bread and oil to start that was addicting. I had the spinach ravioli, the friend had lasagna, and we shared a key lime cheesecake for dessert - all was great. The ravioli needed a touch of seasoning but overall the quality and vibe did not disappoint.
I really enjoyed the ravioli from this restaurant. The meal although appearing small was mighty in flavor and filling enough to feel satisfied. Handmade ravioli and a simple but divine sauce. Add a dessert for after and it was magnifico! Cost was about $30 for a plate plus drinks and dessert so looking around $50-60 per person so moderate-expensive depending what you order. This is a sit down relax place with a proper table service which I was missing since being in a city with mostly standing diners.
There are enough detailed reviews here so I'll keep it short. We went for lunch. The service was excellent, the ambience inviting (especially the back room) and the food was outstanding.
This place was absolutely wonderful. I had asked the kind woman on the phone if we could walk in without a reservation, and she checked for me. The staff were all welcoming and attentive. When looking at the menu, I couldn’t pick a single entree. They all sound absolutely delicious. The waiter checked on us intermittently and gave amazing recommendations. I had the pasta with mushrooms and butternut squash, while my friend ordered the clam spaghetti. It was the opposite of bland, full of rich flavor and perfect combinations. I also ordered wine and dessert— Tiramisu. Both were great. Amazing place to go, surprised it wasn’t more packed on a Saturday night. Will definitely come again!
Great Italian food you can enjoy with coworkers, friends and family or even alone! The restaurant is surprisingly very spacious and the noise level is good so that you can hear people. We got their margherita pizza, burrata beet appetizer and lasagna which were all good. The focaccia in the bread basket was great. The tiramisu was light and creamy. Highly recommend and would go back to try some pasta. Went back again for lunch on a weekday. Tried their spaghetti alla vongole and it was very good. The pasta was perfectly cooked, seasoned and there were a lot of clams. Portion was very big. The porcini polenta with parmigiana was very flavorful and soft and buttery. My friend got the homemade tagliatelle with butternut squash and porcini. The tagliatelle pasta was delicious and had a dense texture.
The chef would not make accommodations but he made some good dishes. They did not give us a lot of olive oil with the bread but overall everything was great. Nicole was our server and she was great. The busser was also really good
The food was very good, our service was excellent, the atmosphere was nice. We ordered a bottle of wine which the water had suggested and it was delicious. I ordered the pesto linguine with shrimp and it was very good. My husband ordered a seafood pasta dish which is his standard Italian dish, it wasn't as spicy as it should've been but it was good.
Food was okay, but the staff were super friendly and very nice.
The pasta is good, probably not the best I have had thought. The pasta texture itself was nice and silky but the sauce was a slight disappointment
I've eaten at this restaurant many times. I love the clams in white wine sauce. The portion was a bit small. The pork belly appetiser was too die for- portion is small. the lasagna was OK but too small a portion for me. The smoked burrata with caramelised peaches and prosiutto and the fried calamari and shrimp were delicious.
A good classic restaurant with as-expected Italian food. A good selection and changing specials. Everything is made well and the housemade pasta is very nice.
We were party of 7 and enjoyed the dinner from start to end. For starters we had a big tasty salad and a dish of anti pasti. The latter can be more interesting by adding roasted garlic for example or interesting seasoning. I took the arctic char for main course which was superb. It was well cooked and seasoned. The others took different dishes of pasta which felt very fresh and well prepared. The raviolini with goat cheese and salmon had too little of salmon or was dominated by the goat cheese. The ricotta spinach ravioli was very good. All dishes are large but priced on the high side. For desert we had Tiramisu which a small standard dish and lemon tart which was very good. The service was excellent.
A good choice if you are looking for a spot that is outside of the normal craziness of Grand Central area. I was staying at the hotel across the street so it was an easy decision and did not disappoint. Food was excellent - I got the ribeye - drinks were great as well. Will come back and try more.
Very impressed here. Thought it was going to be the run of the mill italian restaurant. Found it to be the exact opposite! Definitely worth a return trip. The menu was very deep and I wish I could have ordered a few entrees and specials!
The food was on point! Gnocchi paste with shrimp special was amazing. Bruschetta and calamari were both great appetizer options. Perfectly crispy amd not soggy or soft, even after sitting a bit on the table while we talked away. From an atmosphere perspective, it's like family/home vibe. Could have used light music honestly. Would absolutely go back.
I was able to get a reservation the last minute, which I was thankful for. The staff were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing. If you want a great meal, you'll need to go elsewhere. The food was average at best.
The food was very good, I’ll admit that, but the service was ignorant, off-putting, and not onto par. The busser exceptionally made the experience better, and found the courage to actually speak to us! The waiter barely made conversation, took our orders, and took HIS time to do his job. Once the cheque was placed, fifteen minutes passed until he came to take my card. You’re better off ordering takeout from this place; the food was great but it’s clear the staff have no care in providing service.
Thought it was okay!! The pizza was kinda normal but the ravioli was delicious :) chose it mostly because was a convenient location. Unfortunately there was a big party next to us with kids running around which kinda ruined the vibe… otherwise was okay!!
After visiting Summit One Vanderbilt, we stumbled upon Osteria Laguna, an Italian restaurant just a short walk away. It looked inviting and had decent reviews on Google, so we decided to give it a try. The place is large and elegant, with a classic Italian vibe — but the acoustics are terrible. The noise level was overwhelming, especially around 8 PM when the restaurant was packed. It was difficult to hold a conversation without raising your voice, which took away from the otherwise nice atmosphere. We ordered a mix of pasta, risotto, and pizza. I went for the shrimp risotto, which was well-cooked but somewhat underseasoned — tasty, but a bit bland. Everyone at the table agreed: the food was good, not great. As for the prices — well, it’s New York. Expect to pay quite a bit for an average meal. In short, Osteria Laguna is a nice spot with solid food and efficient service, but the noise and high prices make it hard to fully recommend.
A pretty unremarkable experience honestly. Incredibly dry bread to start. Followed by beef carpaccio, consisting of thick, sandwich meat like cuts of beef which lacked in flavor. Finally, some nice, watery spaghetti bolognese which was mediocre at best. One of the more perplexing aspects was the lack of fresh salt and pepper — something I found particularly amusing given the restaurant’s attempt to present itself as an upscale Italian dining experience. On a positive note, the decor was lovely, and the service was decent, though it didn’t make up for the lackluster food.
As a minority, I felt discriminated against at this restaurant. The staff seemed polite on the surface, but their behavior told a different story. When serving food, they slammed the plates down loudly, which felt intentionally disrespectful. Every other table received bread, but we were the only ones who didn’t. After all our main dishes had arrived, I had to ask for it myself. The server looked surprised and only then brought it to us. I rarely write reviews, but this experience left me deeply disappointed. I will never return to a place that treats people this way, and I knowdon’t recommend it to others either.
I never left any place without a tip. That was my first time. I was surprised at how fast they brought the food; it was really nice. Also, the food that was served before our order, such as olives and bread was better than my pizza, which I’ve ordered. Half of the pizza was burnt. I didn’t eat that, as thin-dough Italian pizza, which is burnt, tastes awful. None of the waiters care about it. One guy took everything from our table, except the burnt pizza. The guy who took our order and came with the bill completely ignored my complaint. He was more interested in the tip than their service. When I said that pizza was burnt, he said, ‘That’s fine, that’s fine.’ Nobody apologized; they didn’t care at all. He didn’t even say goodbye when we said thank you. Awful, poor service. I will definitely never be back.
