Great place for events. Elegant and quite. Great Italian food.
Old school Italian restaurant. Great food and service.
Best old style Italian restaurant on the Westside.
Great Italian for Upper West Side older types. Very genteel.
It was Scaletta's last night. After 30 years CLOSED due to Landlord greed.

Amazing
Lovely
Outstanding!
Es un restaurante excelente.
We are regulars at this traditional Red Sauce restaurant. The decor is not a reason for visiting but the delicious food and excellent service is. There is a large quiet bar with large drinks. Sound level is low and tables are large and widely spaced. Perfect for dining with friends. Prices are very fair.
We had our wedding reception at Scaletta's because it was close to the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park where we got married. Thus, although we chose it primarily for it location, we got much, much more. Impeccable and gracious service from the wait staff; sincere attention and fair dealings from Freddie the Maître D’, his brother Omer, the Chef and Omer's daughter Michelle, the events manager; delicious and plentiful food -- from Hors d’oeuvres to main course. And the wedding cake prepared on premises by Dominique the Pastry Chef drew universal raves from our guests! Scaletta's made our special day all the better!
A wonderful restaurant! My family has had several events there, the food is delicious and the staff are kind and attentive.
Hi end quality Italian food with great dessert options
Great food and nice atmosphere. Would have liked a more extensive bar selection though.
great local restaurant. consistently excellent food and service. a real value for the money.
Spacious quiet dependably good dining. Gracious service with well-prepared dishes.
Great food, great service. ... Really, great food!
I love it!
This wonderful restaurant has two assets that are really important, especially in New York. (1) Fine professional and friendly waiters, who know and care about their business and, more important than I can say, (2) an environment in which a person can talk with his or her guests, without shouting or straining to hear. The art of conversation, even in a full restaurant, is alive and well at Scaletta.
Since my fridge broke, I've been ordering through Seamless everyday. I keep going back to this place... this is the 3rd time this week. This review is for delivery only. Okonomiyaki - Japanese pancake - is the best item here! They also have takoyaki... not many places in Flushing does. I loved everything I ordered! Oyakodon, udon, unagidon. The unagi don didn't have much sauce (wish they had more, the rice was kinda bland) but the eel was good. As I'm typing, I'm waiting for them to deliver hehehe. I also like that they come with little tiny side dishes.
Finally, a civilized place where the tables are far enough apart to talk! Very good food; excellent wine list; accommodating waiters.
This is a stellar business. The right mix of imported Italian products, homemade food and spectacular customer service make this a true example of how to run a small food shop.
Found the decor and the food subpar except for the dessert selection. Quiet restaurant and older local crowd.
down stairs large room tablecloths noise moderate food and portions were good service was awfull could not find a waiter for 10 minutes even though place was 1/4 full would not go back
cool
The customers can't get much older, the service can't get much slower, and the atmosphere is livelier in a funeral home. However, the hordes of rats running the across the sidewalk just outside the door when we left did liven things up.
Good desserts bad food
Food is mediocre at best. The best thing going for this restaurant is the dessert cart.
If you're old and enjoy over priced mediocre food this is the spot.
If you're over a hundred years old ... this restaurant is for you. If you love outdated food, service and decor ... this place is for you. If your palette just ain't what it used to be ... 'dis is d'place! If you adore paying through the nose for practically nothing ... go for it!
