Split Eights New York Reviews
One of the best hidden cocktail bars of NYC. Best espresso martini in town. I mean it.
A gem in the neighborhood, calm and good music. Excellent bartenders choice cocktails tailored to your preferences.
Lovely cocktail bar in Fidi. Delicious, creative cocktails and friendly service. Will absolutely be back. Thank you :)
Came here for a night out with a coworker and the environment was very cozy and it was easy to have a good conversation. The bartender was great and made each drink perfect! This place is definitely in my rotation for nice places to grab a good drink after a long day of work! Definitely check them out!
A cozy and dark coffee shop in the morning, a subtle and calm cocktail bar in the evening. I enjoy the vibes of this place, have written my fair share of things while sipping the coffee (not too bad btw) in the mornings. During the evening, the best parts are listening to the locals while drinking one of the varying modifications on classic cocktails. They also introduce their own from time to time, most I’ve tried are decent. Wine selection isn’t the greatest, but they do have some. Again, my favorite part is the vibe, it’s not quite like anything in FiDi, feels like it should be in Brooklyn or LES? But somehow it fits well in the area!
I hate to leave bad reviews, I never do because i like to support business - unfortunately this experience needs to be highlighted. Went in on a Sunday and there was not many customers. Was seated and ordered drinks rather quickly. Proceeded to wait 40 minutes to get the drinks and never got them so I left. Was a disappointing experience.
The hostess at this bar was all over the place, seemed like she didn’t know which planet she was on just super disorganized. The waitress with the curly hair was incredibly rude, we waited over 40mins for our drinks and ended up leaving before we could even get our drinks even though the bar wasn’t very busy. The waitress rudely argued that we “didn’t wait that long” but my group and I have never had such a bad experience at any NYC bar to leave a bad review. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Horrible service and very disrespectful staff. The hostess was very disoriented, and the server was this lady with curly hair who was extremely rude. We waited 45 minutes for a drink and when we decided to leave the server never apologized and snapped back at us. Do not recommend going here, especially a place who is this rude to customers.
I agree with the previous reviewers who said about poor service and rude staff even when there was a reservation. I used to go there all the time but for the year of 2025 they went down in quality drastically in terms of the service and the way they treat their customers. Waiters and the manager treat customers like they are nothing, often talking really rude and make you feel like you owe them $5000 that you borrowed from them and never returned. If you don’t want to feel humiliated please, please DO NOT go there, this spot is below one zero rating. Do not recommend to anyone.
Extremely rude waiter, thinking he is the boss of this world. Was never polite, and overcharged us $15 and I’m pretty sure on purpose since we started complaining poor service even there was little people. When we escalated that he was talking to us down to his boss he was even more rude to me and my wife. DO NOT go to this place, avoid it by all chances.
I used to come here so often back when Tyler worked here and there was another kind lady. But as of recent, the staff here is absolutely terrible - particularly the lady with the curly hair. They’re terribly rude even though I had a reservation. (They were being really nice to the other parties seated next to us which makes me wonder why they were treating us differently). There were a few more things that were just bizarre but want to save myself the time here. I was a regular here (back when the staff was comprised of different people, assume they left) but will be sure to NEVER come back and relay the same to friends and others.
Went with a group of friends and were pleasantly surprised by the vibe when we arrived. We had planned to stay all night, but unfortunately, the service got progressively worse. The waitress was extremely disrespectful on multiple occasions, even yelling at us without cause. We ultimately decided to leave and leave zero tip. Message to the owners: You have a great bar, but the staff (particularly the waitress) completely ruined the experience. We hope you take this seriously and address it, the atmosphere deserves much better service. Not planning on going back.
Was here a couple of months back and thought it would be one of those hidden gems that I would/could frequent quite often and tell my friends about since my first experience here was amazing - service, ambiance, quality of drink….but tonight was a completely opposite experience to the point it seemed a bit discriminatory tbh. Walked in around 1 am; it was empty with one couple at the main area; asked if we could take the corner seating area but the bartender (female) said they only give it to large parties…which is fine and I understand…even though they were gonna close in an hour since we arrived and the probability of a large party coming in was almost zero…but whatever, we took the 2 person seat and ordered our drinks. The quality of drinks had changed and wasn’t the same (not in a positive way). Around 1:30 AM the waiter (male) that took our order initially told us it was last call and if we wanted to order more drinks…to which I replied if I can get 1-2 mins to decide…but he emphasized that we had to order immediately and implied he could not wait for me to decide…so I just asked for the check. At this point, I’m already feeling do they even want any customers… Around 1:45 AM a large group from upstairs (which I didn’t notice were there) head down to the main area and the same male waiter asks one of the person from the group what drink they want and starts serving them…when he basically would not give me even 1-2 mins to decide what I want to order, but yet is serving a large party now…literally 15 mins before closing! Not sure if the large group were buddies with the staff but I felt it was disrespectful, hypocritical, and discriminatory towards us! I usually leave some tip even if the service is bad but this was too much and regretted even going back there to give them any business and left ZERO TIPS! AVOID if you can (unless if you’re buddies with the staff there I suppose…there was a couple there I saw that did not pay for the drinks that was friends with the bartender too) NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!! (Wish I could give zero stars)
Update: I gave Split Eights a 5-star the first time I went there as it was indeed pleasant and the service was humane. But after two instances of being treated disrespectfully, never again. Owners are condescending and arrogant. There could’ve been better ways to explain better or nicely their POV to resolve conflict. Just gutted by your attitude, really. —- Previous review: They have a substantial selection of sublime cocktails for anyone. My friend enjoyed her Spanish wine very much too. The ambience is relaxing and cozy. A gem worth excavating in FiDi. And oh, service was impeccable!
