Teppen Ramen New York Reviews
Not cheap. But maybe because they’re good and authentic. We ordered chicken ramen and shoyu ramen, both of which were DELICIOUS! The chicken meat had some ginger in it and it tasted so smooth. The soya-based broth was clear and comforting. The shoyu pork ramen broth was different but also great. You can taste the meat and the bones but not too rich or overpowering. Sometimes you have a couple of slurps and you already feel full. You know what I mean? But this one is refreshing and mixed with the noodle you want to keep slurping. You can tell the high quality of meal they serve here. Service was ok. Just taking your order, bringing your meal to your table, cleaning it up, and closing it out. Not rude. But not warm either, which we didn’t mind.
Casual restaurant slightly below ground level. Clean. The cabbage salad was super fresh and crunchy with a nice dressing. The Kyuri ipponzuke was super simple. Cucumber, sesame oil, peppers. Yum. We also had the Char Siu Don and it was generous with the pork. Also had the Maji Teppen. Great broth and nice grilled char siu. Lots of ingredients and a ton of bean sprouts. So of you like simpler brothy ramen, this might not be for you.
I have tried Ramen spots all over NYC and Queens. I decided to try this place since I just recently relocated my work place to midtown. Nice small cozy restaurant if you plan to dine in. I walked in and ordered for lunch the Teppen Shio Ramen and it was ready in 5 minutes. The taste was very good and serving size was enough to fill you up until dinner time. Will definitely come back again for lunch.
This was my very first time here omg the food was soooo delicious 😋 I order a pork soup and an appetizer of steam shrimp 🍤 dumplings delicious,I'm definitely going back again, the food has good tasty flavor,ot can be a little pricey but it was worth every penny.
I had dinner at Teppen with my family and we're seated right away. We ordered Ramen and some appetizers. The waitress Ploy was very nice and resourceful. She explained the dishes and what was included in our orders. The waitress Sara was also very attentive and checked in on us. The food was great especially on this cold day. We will come again and had a great experience thanks to the staff.
Teppen Ramen is, without a doubt, the best ramen I’ve had in my entire life. The staff who attended us were extremely polite and attentive, and the ramen was simply spectacular: homemade, authentic, and with a flavor I haven’t found anywhere else. We spent several days in New York and went back multiple times because we were obsessed with it. And when we return to New York, we’ll go again without hesitation — it has become our absolute favorite restaurant. I recommend it to everyone; for me, there is no ramen more delicious than the one at Teppen Ramen. 🍜❤️
Tucked a few steps below street level, Teppen Ramen feels like the kind of place you stumble into on a cold evening and leave with your soul slightly repaired. The room is small—tight tables, muted wood tones, soft clatter of chopsticks—and the ramen arrives with serious intent. Broth deep and creamy, the egg jammy, the chashu tender enough to make you briefly forgive your ex. A place for quiet meals and quiet people. The kind of ramen that tastes better when you eat it alone.
Food and service are amazing here! Tried the tatoyaki, pan fried noodles and their ramen. If you go during lunch, the tables are full but you can get take out. After 5pm, it’s less crowded and you can sit down and enjoy the ambiance. The ramen was really delicious! I really enjoy this place.
I wanted to eat Ramen (Chinese noodle with soup). I ordered Teppen Shio Ramen and Takoyaki. Ramen was good, volume was enough. A little bit pity taste of the coup. I liked it, creamy and smoothly but if it was Tonkotsu base (Pork born bouillon), I prefer more thick one. Takoyaki was really nice! I recommend it. It was different than regular Takoyaki, outside was crispy, inside was soft, very clear taste. I ate such tasty Takoyaki first time!!
Literally cannot recommend this place enough. My favorite ramen spot and one of my favorite restaurants ever. Absolutely wonderful broth and ramen. Definitely get some extra noodles! They also have alcohol and an outdoor table sometimes. Decent additional apps and fried rice bowls. Have been here dozens of times with friends partner and even alone! Can't wait to be back :)
What a lovely experience coming here. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the toppings are fresh and satisfying. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is lively, and the service is friendly. Highly recommend it for a quick and satisfying meal.
Great ramen place! The pork gyoza was solid. I got the spicy bamboo shoots for the first time and I was surprised about how much I liked them. It’s a great side dish to go with the ramen. The ramen itself had so much flavor. Just enough spiciness to give the broth a nice kick, not too much where you’re in pain. The prices were very fair and the service was very kind and attentive.
I’ve enjoyed dining at Teppen Ramen through the years. The cold noodle ($19.49, tax included), a seasonal offering during summer, combines mildly spicy ground pork and fresh vegetables with the noodles. The only real disappointment is that their suggested tip amounts are calculated from the taxed total.
I didn’t expect much after reading the other reviews but was pleasantly surprised by the ramen here. The items seems to be hit or miss. The curry ramen was really good with a medium curry flavor and firm egg noodles. The veggie ramen (oat milk based broth) was alright and closer to a shoyu broth. I found the topping to be lacking a bit: wish there was corn and mushrooms to supplement the bowl.
I’ve been here a couple times now and while I wouldn’t travel for it, do find it a decent neighborhood ramen spot. They have a nice selection of appetizers - especially like their spicy bamboo which you don’t see often. As for their ramen, I’ve had the shio and shoyu. I prefer the salt based shio a bit more - nice depth of flavor to the broth and the noodles come nicely al dente. Just wish there was a bit more going on - possibly some wood ear mushrooms or bean sprouts for texture.
I could speak about the Vegetarian ramen that I had. The fried tofu is something I never had before. I’m not a fan of tofu in general due to its texture, but the tofu in the ramen is done soo well, I wish I know how it’s prepared. And the mushroom went well with the ramen soup. Overall, it was a great experience!
I’m giving this one 4.5 stars. Waitstaff was friendly and service was fast. I started with the chicken wings and they were just ok. Kind of dry and the flavor was weak. The Ramen on the other hand was fabulous! I had the Teppen special and it was really good. The soup itself wasn’t great, but when you mixed it with the noodles and beef, wow it was really good! I wish I could have finished the bowl! I would certainly come back for another bowl but would skip the wings. Washed it all down with a couple Sapporo drafts and was good to go!
Great selection of appetizers. We got takoyaki, agedashi tofu and pork bun and they were great! The portion of noodle that I got for the tap pan ramen is what takes the one star off. Literally after 3-4 slurps there’s no noodle left, it’s a little misleading with a huge pile of bean sprout on the top but has no enough noodle? The ramen itself isn’t bad though, I’d say get extra noodle. Definitely will come back to try other ramen.
Do take out for lunch today, $20 only got a small bowl of ramen, only two pieces of meat were found for the entired bowl! Compare to Kati, feel like this place is expensive for those have limited lunch credit. Ramen is a bit harsh, like uncooked, maybe because of the soup is not hot enough. Not that valuable for $20 compared to the restaurants around the area. Taste is very salty, after finish my lunch, I have to keep drinking water sincr feeling thirsty all the time. In addition, I have tried eat in one time, no service except taking order, I even need to get water myself. At the end, I gave $2 tip for a meal of $18(included tax). But then, when I got home, my credit card was charged by this store again for another $3 for tip that I did not authorize!! Be awared of this!
If you're looking for authentic Japanese ramen, this isn't the place. We ordered the fried shrimp shumai, which was mostly dough and lacked tenderness, served with soy sauce—a strange choice, as fried shumai is typically paired with sweet and sour sauce. It feels like common sense is missing here. We also ordered two ramen dishes, which were even more disappointing. While the noodles had a good, chewy texture, the soup ruined the experience. It tasted artificial, like something from a chemistry lab, with no real flavor and heavy on MSG. If you're after delicious food, I'd recommend the Indian restaurant next door or the Chinese restaurant across the street.
