Up Stairs Bar New York Reviews
"Midnight madness at this karaoke gem! 🎤 Cheap drinks, awesome tunes, and the owner's got your back! Super fun vibe, great spot to let loose with friends. Lovely place, definitely coming back!"
My favourite karaoke spot in NYC. The owner is so lovely as are both bartenders. Not sure of the bartender’s name (woman) but she’s great. Tim is a sweet heart. Highly recommend
We arrived at 10pm and didn't leave until 2am. One of the best karaoke experiences I have ever had. Empowering and kind and truly just pure joy.
Shockingly good value. Great food and even better drinks. Gets crowded on saturday nights so takes a while for your song to get played
Best bar in the city. Rina and Tim are always warm and welcoming. If you’re expecting every song you request to be played immediately, go somewhere where there’s private rooms. Otherwise, hang out, enjoy a rather affordable drink and enjoy their delicious menu options (especially the Taiwanese popcorn chicken!)
We had so much fun at this little hole in the wall karaoke bar! It is just your typical small no nonsense dive bar, but the atmosphere was great. Everybody sang along with most of the songs and the bartenders were all great, especially Tim who was super sweet! I ordered dumplings and they were delicious and affordable. There was a 20 minimum and $1 per song for the karaoke and u just have to pay attention when is your turn they just pass the mic around the bar so you don't stand on a stage. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting a fun inexpensive karaoke or dive bar experience.
This divey spot has become my favorite karaoke bar in the city. Perfect for when you just wanna belt tunes with the whole bar singing along. The owner/bartenders are super cool and are on top of it, even on a packed night. What really blew my friends and I away is the quality of food here! I’ve gone back just for the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken alone. You might raise an eyebrow at ordering a Ribeye Steak at karaoke, but it was cooked perfectly to temp, tender, and seasoned properly. The Lychee Martinis are also top-notch; they don’t skimp with the lychee garnishes here!
We didn’t try any food because we were there for karaoke but… If you like local dive bars, this is the place! You do have the pay per song, but it’s super cheap. I’ve been the New York several times and I am not a fan of the karaoke bars that have the rooms because… They’re just not my favorite. This is a place I loved! Everyone was involved and sang-along. It felt like home! For the three of us that went, we had a great time! We sang, we drank, and we made new friends! Only karaoke bar I’m ever going to in the city!
I love this place. It's like being around family. The owner, Rena, and her son, Tim, make you feel loved. If you are having a bad day, go you will feel amazing when you leave. If you are having a great day, go your day will end even better. The drinks are on point. The bartenders "Tim and Joe" are mad, cool, and most importantly, they know how to make a drink 🍸. I have tried just about everything on the menu. The burger is great. The French fries are delicious. They have garlic ribs, which are spicy but very good. They sell Udon and Ramen and steak (though I never had the steak), but if the other dishes are great, I'm sure the steak will also be. Please note this is a bar, so don't think you're coming here for a nice sit-down dinner because you are coming for bar food and karaoke and to have a great time. I promise a great time. They are closed on certain days. I believe Tuesdays and one other so check before you go, but go. Enjoy Up Stairs cause it is a great place.
Myself, my boyfriend, and our friends were looking for a good place in the LES to visit over the weekend. So glad we stumbled upon this place! We had such a blast. Drinks were strong and reasonably priced, the mozzarella sticks are that good (look at the other reviews), and our bartender Tim was awesome. We will definitely be back!
This bar is one of the best and most fun bars my friends and I have ever been to. Right before coming to this bar last night we had a horrible experience at a different Karaoke bar down the street. The ambiance, drinks, and food made it so fun. The owners were so nice and made us have the best time ever. Their cocktail menu was great. So many yummy options and Tim made the best ever lemon drop shot. They had an awesome selection of songs and almost all the songs we wanted, they had. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone who is wanting a fun chill bar night to turn into one of the best nights ever.
Drinks were good. Most of the bartenders were super friendly. There was one who could be a little rude at times. Food was also good! This place seems like it's an apartment converted into a bar. Karaoke is fun, but sometimes the mics didn't work and the singers had to rush around to find the mics.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Drinks are decently priced. Bartenders are great. There's karaoke with a good selection of songs. Simple food/snack menu. All in all it's a good place to stop by and have a few drinks to chat and rest your feet after a long day. The entrance is a little dingy with creaking stairs to the "upstairs" bar on the 2nd floor.
Crowded. Noisy. Strong drinks but karaoke took 2h for our songs to play. AMAZING Taiwanese fried chicken though - definitely get this if you go!
Had a nice time at this bar. I was waiting on friends and stopped over at karaoke bar. The bar staff seemed particularly untrusting when I requested a fourth song that I had place on my tab. Maybe they get too many drunk teenagers showing up. I’m not sure. I have younger looking face but am in my 30s. Also, I was on my way out when the lady put the order of dumplings in so I ended having to pay twice as much as I intended before I walked in. Dumplings were not good and drinks were fine. I’m glad I ended up staying but staff was a bit untrusting and kind of bamboozled me into staying.
do not go here!!! worst experience I have ever had at a bar in my entire life… I ordered a double moscow mule and was given two mezcal’s on the rocks, when i told the bartender this wasn’t what i ordered she said once drinks are made there are no returns and insisted that this is what i ordered when it was not. unless you want to go to an establishment with extremely rude service where “the customer is always wrong” do not go here.
they were literally SO RUDE we tried to pee and they were banging the door down and being so disrespectful. men yelling in our face and being so mean and rude to us and we were trying to calm everything down. it was so scary. this is not a safe place for women of color!!!
Very rude personnel. It’s a karaoke bar but they didn’t let us choose any song, we were in 8 we asked for just one song and paid a lot of money in drinks but they ignored us and decided to let their friends sing a very random Asian song that only 2 people were barely singing. Very disappointing. Also, no toilet paper.
