Zest Ramen New York Reviews
Such great service/ really rare nowadays! Food was fresh and staff courteous. The ramen is a must!
Food was perfection, staff was friendly & kind, and to top it off the music was old school r&b jams. Highly recommend! We also went to happy hour
Excellent spot. Seated quickly. Weekend happy-hour menu that’s actually affordable. Cold sake was excellent. Served incredibly quickly. Cute design, close but comfortable seating. Recommended!
I’ve been to this place 3+ times and I will keep coming back because the food is delicious and the prices for happy hour are unbeatable. What do you mean you can get a $6 beer, sake, wine, roll, any appetizer, and a $9 delicious cocktail? Everything is always so good! And I’ve never had to wait a single time (I’ve always shown up before 5:30). My personal favorites have been: - chicken karaage - spicy tuna roll - salmon avo roll - eel roll - zesty sunrise cocktail
Randomly stumbled upon this place at 1pm on a Sunday looking for somewhere that wasn't crowded. It was immediately a vibe with the music they were playing. We got a seat close to the street to people watch lol. The specialty rolls didn't come with a lot of pieces BUT it was of great quality and super delicious. We got the chicken katsu with the egg and that was so flavorful. Paired with the thai ice tea?? Delicious.
A friend and I were craving ramen and found our way to Izakaya Zest and were so not disappointed. The ramen is delicious, they also serve oysters and sushi (more of our faves so loved being able to order all of it), very good attentive service, and the atmosphere and music was amazing, R&B throwbacks in a quaint and romantic space were not expected but very much appreciated. We’re going back asap.
This place is a great Japanese restaurant! 🇯🇵 Izakaya Zest serves a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 dishes 🍽️ - definitely try the Pan Fried 🍳 Dumplings 🥟, Fried ♨️ Chicken, and Sushi! 🍣 They have a very affordable happy hour 🕓 with lots of great options (including oysters 🦪) for $6! 💵 The staff 👨🍳 is friendly and welcoming and the service is quick. ⏲️ I wish I knew about this place earlier!
I randomly found this place years ago and came back for the first time in awhile and the food is just as good as the first time I tried it. The tonkatsu ramen is so good. Honestly my groups tried a few other items and they were just as amazing. The oysters are also delicious and not filling.
I love love love this place a lot! The food here is amazing and delicious, it's not the best ramen I ever had but it's still really good! I got the Shoyu ramen and the broth was warm and flavorful, the pork belly was perfect, and the bamboo shoots were crunchy and very yummy. I also liked the katsu(I stole some from my friend), it was crunchy and flavorful. I'll definitely get that next time I come. The only thing I'll have to say is that my ramen wasn't slurpable. Like it was choppy? The service was really quick, gave us water refills as soon as we finished, and was very patient and kind to us when I had to get a new receipt for my 10% off for sharing on any platform. They also cleaned up very nicely. The atmosphere was so cozy and warm. It's a small restaurant so it feels compact and cute. The decor was very nice and in general, the store is very clean and well-kept together. I hope to come here again ! :)
I was looking for ramen spots in Chinatown near where my Mom lives. She knows I love ramen and I invited her on a ramen escapade. Needless to say, she thoroughly enjoyed herself. She's a big seafood lover, so I knew she'd enjoy having the little neck clams (and she did). The prices are fair; they have happy hour starting at 4:30pm. The shoyu ramen and the shrimp tempura udon were both flavorful and delicious. Great portion size too. The karaage was crispy and crunchy and delicious. I can definitely see myself returning here, solo or with my Mom. I'm sure she'll love to come back too. Now she has a local ramen spot to enjoy 😊🍜
Anyone who lives in the neighborhood knows of Zest Sushi and their HH specials. This is their sister restaurant which is a ramen restaurant. The food is good for a neighborhood restaurant, I’m happy to see that they also offer sushi at this location now (came when they first opened and they didnt have). Decently priced with good portion size. Good for a quick meal especially on a cold night for a nice both of ramen. Id recommend if you’re ever in the area and looking for something soupy but would not recommend commuting 30+ minutes for.
As an very experienced Ramen eater, I would rank Zest as some where in the middle ... their broth was pretty average, but I will say, they provided very large and succulent pieces of pork belly in their soup. There isn't a large selection, from recollection, they had basically 4 choices. March 20th 2022 Update: i have recently re-visited Minca, Gorin on 14th ; and I no longer place Zest somewhere in the middle, I now place them above average. But not on the same level as Menkui Tei. A solid 4 stars. They have littleneck clams for $1 during happy hour. Jan 18th 2024 Still going to Zest, I have again visited more Ramen shops since my last post on Zest in 2020 and again, the value and flavor compares to many other more well known and upscale Ramen shops like Ippudo. August 8th 2025 Still going to Zest, they have now added sushi rolls to their menu, they still have a happy hour, and also have added a new ramen item to their other usual soup flavors. Still many years later for me a solid Ramen choice. My only gripe, they do not have a robust AC system, at least not when i go, I will wait till fall / winter to revisit. August 25th 2025 I went back again and now have realized, they have pivoted to a sushi spot that serves Ramen.
This place is small. Nice, clean and cozy. I really like the decor inside. Our waiter was really nice and friendly. All the appetizers and ramen were really yummy. The bowl of ramen was a good size. Paired it with plum wine and that was delicious. Although one big disappointment, we were here for ramen and sushi .... but there was no sushi at all.
We headed to this ramen spot because the reviews were great, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for us. While the service and atmosphere were fine, the ramen itself was just average and lacked a standout flavor. It wasn't bad, but given the high ratings, we were expecting something a bit more impressive.
The restaurant does not turn the heat on in middle of winter! It was freezing cold inside and everyone was wearing their coat. Some of the fishes had a mushy texture and didn’t taste fresh to me. The hot food was fine. This place is really just a cheap sushi place in disguise. The price point is cheap but definitely be careful.
Chicken katsu was soggy and flavorless. The service was okay except for the fact that you are forced to give a tip to their liking. They should be grateful they even get a tip at all. They will harass you for a large tip and insult you if you don't tip to their liking. Steer clear from this mediocre place.
