Himalayan Chef Kitchen Newark Reviews
Fresh and tasty food. They are primarily take out but do have a few tables to eat at. The tables are nice with comfortable leather chairs. Chicken momos in chili sauce were warm and satisfying. Gobi Manchurian had nice flavor and spice level without being too sweet as sometimes this dish can be at other places. Noodles had nice amount of chicken and veggies. Planning to go back and try the thadka on a cold day. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
I really liked their vegetarian options. Their thukpa was very nice and it's the only place I've seen that has it so far. Momos were great. The paneer gravy was also good and on the tangier side. The garlic naan was not the best I've had since it's not the type where the garlic is embedded in the naan, it's also quite small. Apart from that, no issues.
Extremely healthy options. Google says temporarily closed but it is not. Tried a quinoa bowl and rice. Super tasty!! Chef was so friendly and came out to answer to any allergy concerns. Totally great experience!
Had vegan momos n tilapia bowl. Both taste great. Looks like take out place but they also have comfortable seating.
Stopped by for some vegan dinner. We had the vegan momo, tofu noodle soup and tofu curry. Food was good, the front desk guy was super friendly and helpful when we ordered. It is a take away place, but they have some tables if you want to eat there (we sat down for dinner)..

Dropped into this place on a whim tonight after a visit to Coyote Hills nearby. Friendly folks, fast service, and seriously delicious Nepalese eats! The spicy chicken chili momo and Himalayan chicken curry were well prepared and full of flavor. Staff was also super accommodating and offered to spice to our tastes. I opted for mild while my buddy went for medium. Glad we tried it as we’ll definitely be back!
We have been to this place a couple times now. We are strictly Vegan and also don’t eat spicy food. The chef was kind and very nice and specifically made the curry to cater our needs. We all had a great experience and highly recommend this place. Their food and hospitality is amazing!! I’m so happy that there is another Vegan restaurant close to our house :)!
Some of the best food we've ever had!!! We are both vegan and were thrilled to find many vegan options. We enjoyed the momos, roti, vegan curries and tofu. But don't worry, there are food options for all types of diets (including meat of course) The portions were perfect. The atmosphere is simple, nothing fancy. The owners are extremely passionate about what they're doing. We left with full bellies and happy hearts.
Pretty empty when I got there so food came out fast. Man at the counter was polite. I didn't know what to expect for Himalayan food, but it was pretty similar to Indian food. More of a curry guy than a momo enjoyer but they were decent. I'd like to get something ultra spicy from them one day.
The Chicken Momo Dumplings and the Masala Tea really hit the spot. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Cauliflower Gobi, and Beef Curry too. Delicious! Chef Deepak and his wife were welcoming. I really enjoyed their hospitality. Awesome, coming from a Chef who cooked for Amber India and catered to many companies in the Bay Area. Really thankful for the experience.
Hope you are well, whomever is reading this! So glad Mr. Deepak offers Vegan plant based food here! It's hard to find good vegan food and glad I am very grateful it's nearby my work place in Newark! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a very nice young lady. Very attentive to my dietary request. I was hoping for a low carb vegan keto friendly meal and they recommended the vegan mushroom vegetable curry. And it was AMAZING!! Totally recommend this place! 11 out of 11 rating! Try and you will find out the magical wonders in his food! Thanks again and looking forward to tasting other delicious vegan dishes! Namaste Michael Aura Tse

The food was takeaway. We ordered chicken fried rice and the food quantity was decent and the taste was also not that soy heavy. It was just rice with chicken flavour with mild hint of soy. Loved this style of cooking.

Chicken momos were great, shrimp fried rice and egg noodles were just alright- a bit bland even when asked for extra spicy level. However, the food seems fresh and hot when given!
The food was very tasty (vegan options available), however the service was bad, which made the whole atmosphere less enjoyable. We wanted to go to a place to dine in and enjoy our lunch and decided to choose this one due to ratings. The owner's son was behind the counter and he was basically disappointed that we wanted to sit down. He said "we are more of a take out place". He got us silverware and plates and said "there you go" when he placed them on the table. Then he brought the food and just left it on the tray in the middle of the table. Terrible service I would say, especially that it was a birthday lunch. The rice side dish is absolutely overpriced- $7 for a bowl of brown rice?! Never seen it before... Overall not a good experience.

We were in Newark on a Sunday afternoon and decided to eat out before heading home. After searching Google for the closest highly-rated Indian restaurant, we found Himalayan—a familiar name in the Bay Area and the top-rated option at the time. Excited, we went in with high hopes, but the place was small and didn’t seem particularly clean. The owner’s son took our order, and while waiting for the food, he asked why we chose their restaurant. When we mentioned the Google ratings, he gave us a knowing smile—the kind that makes you realize his plan worked :) When the food arrived, it was mediocre at best—nowhere near the 4.5-star rating it supposedly deserved. More like a 3-star experience. I fear the ratings on google are manipulated and not trust worthy any more.
I got the steamed chicken momos. Firstly, they were extremely overpriced: USD 17.72 (w/o tip price) for 8 pieces. Secondly, the taste was average. Full points for well steamed momos with a thin flour outer layer but the chicken filling was disappointing and lacked flavour

We had very bad experience from this place. Their food is horrible. We ordered 5 different items and all of them were very bad. Food taste like freezer burn, not fresh at all. Please dont waste your money at this place.
This place felt very off when we entered, it was empty and the lady at the front was being overly friendly and weird. We thought we'd still give it a chance and ordered just one dish (veg momos) for take out. The momos were horrible -- didn't taste fresh/ of good quality. Never going here again.
