No Vacancy North Hudson Avenue Reviews
Honestly, I cannot wait to return. My friends and I arrived early on a Saturday night to make sure we got inside. Surprisingly, there was no cover (I guess because we were the first ones there.) It's such a fun place with gorgeous atmosphere, very talented bartenders, plenty of spots to sit, a huge dance floor, and a burlesque show. It gets crowded later at night so definitely use the restroom in advance or you'll be in a long line. Again, I can't wait to return. Look for this building if you cannot find the place: PS Look under the stair case!
An absolute gem with timeless charm! This classy club, nestled in a beautifully preserved old house, exudes history and sophistication. The moody lighting and crackling fireplaces create an intimate, inviting atmosphere perfect for a memorable evening. Whether you’re here for a delicious cocktail or a lively gathering, the ambiance is unmatched. Highly recommend for those who appreciate elegance and character!
Rocky is the best bartender in here. Would easily go anywhere he works.
I had a really great time here. Went with my wife, I really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. The front security Michael is extremely helpful and answered all my questions I have due to it was my first time at this club. Would come here again
Great 'hidden' bar that takes you back to the 1920's! It's like you're partying in a living room and it's got a great outdoor patio with nice fire places. The line is a pita if you go there on a weekend, so make sure you book a table!
This place is awesome. Good atmosphere and good vibes. Very intimate venue to see a band. We got to see Cannos with Booker and Stryker. It was honestly one of the best shows ever.
Wanted to show my wife the ‘cool entrance’ but it was under renovations and not open. Has to come in the normal way 🥲 always love coming here when I’m in town. People start coming after 10. Bartender made us some custom gin cocktails.
A favorite late night LA spot! Speakeasy w/burlesque shows multiple times each night. No cocktail menu - tell the bartenders your alcohol/flavor preferences and they’ll craft something delicious just for you! Surprise of the night was how delicious their small bites were (the quesadilla!!!!). Note: come early or pay for table/bottle service...very hard to get in late night (especially if a group of all guys)
Amazing venue with quality drink and a killer atmosphere! It’s a long wait at times, though WELL WORTH the wait. Played great music the whole time I was there with a solid crowd and entertainment
A must see bar that’s located in a renovated Victorian style home. Adorned with fireplaces inside and out as well as some wonderful surprises.
Rare JRM here in LA definitely nice when it’s not so busy. Great Manhattan and old-fashioned.
Really cool and unique entrance! Unexpected way to enter the bar. It is something you got to try.
Great spot, very cool vibe, not too crowded, one of the best bars in LA.
We loved this place. Went here on a romantic trip visiting speakeasies/bar-hopping around Los Angeles. This was my second visit and so far it hasn't disappointed. Admittedly parking is expensive nearby so I recommend Lyft unless you want to pay for valet. This Victorian style house is beautiful on the inside. We loved how the bed moves to reveal the stairs down into the bar. The drinks are delicious and priced fairly. I just adore sitting on the porch and looking out at the beautiful backyard with the twinkly lights and fireplaces. I will say you NEED to get there at the right times. Avoid this place Fridays and Saturdays after 10:00 if bros bother you, because I've been told that this becomes their territory and I believe it. It does get crazy the later it gets, so I recommend going earlier in the evening to really enjoy the ambiance. I've heard that they have tightrope walkers and circus-style acts later on, so if that interests you more than perhaps the crowds will be worth it. But I have to say, if you're looking for speakeasy style bars in California, you must visit here at some point. It was one of our favorites!
So much fun!!! I went for the first time on Friday and am in love with this place! It has an amazing Old Hollywood vibe with a great range of people, most seemed to be late 20's, and the drinks were fantastic. The DJ's were having a blast and put on a fun mix of 80's-00's. I wish the dance floor hasn't been so hot but otherwise I think the night was perfect.
Just went here for my first time ever and me & my friends all loved it! The entrance can be difficult to find since its located in the back of an alley, but I think that adds to their "speakeasy" approach. On Fridays & Saturdays it DOES get crowded after 10pm and once they reach full capacity, they are very selective about letting people in, so do get there early. But all of the staff were very friendly and professional (we loved Ken the security guard!) and the bar tender outside was approachable and mixed up some good, strong drinks. The DJ played Top hits, hip hip, and crowd favorites but he remixed it all so well that it kept the crowd engaged and everyone dancing all night long. If you like non-traditional bars/clubs, this is the spot to try. I'll definitely be coming back!
Was able to see a concert by The Hives here. Interesting intimate setting for the show.
One of the best bars in the area! Don’t worry if your reservation never gets confirmed like ours never did - just get there before 11 and you should get in no problem. Outstanding atmosphere/vibes inside, great cocktails, and friendly bartending staff. The music does get louder as the night goes on but it turns into a really fun atmosphere outside. Give No Vacancy a shot!
Firstly, it's a really cool spot. Hidden entrance to a basement bar and an outdoor patio and bar area. The vibe is like a night club mixed with an old school speakeasy. Also, I lost my phone one night, and management did everything they could to look for it with me and we eventually found it. We celebrated with a drink for my wife and I, on the house. I love this place.
I hadn’t been to a club in a while and had heard about club No Vacancy and decided to give it a try. Definitely did not regret my decision. It was a great and fun experience, compared to other clubs, right from the entrance. The security in the front greeted us and were really nice. Once inside, the vibe and just about everything was awesome. Good crowd, great music and drinks, couldn’t ask for more. Highly recommend No Vacancy if you are out and want to have a good time.
Was at a private event upstairs and Harkin was an absolute delight. Despite the “open” menu being cocktails with 12 steps to make, he was in a great mood and treated everybody fabulously while also taking the time to chat with anyone that needed it. 10/10 Harkin rocks and the spot is cool
The coolest bar I have ever seen, by a long shot. I will not spoil your entry here by describing it. One must see this to believe it. Go there and you'll know what I mean. Their cocktails are masterful: no big cups of ice but rather small, strong pieces of heaven in a glass. The way it should be. The dont serve food so keep that in mind.
I only come to LA once or twice a year and every time I make sure to drop by here. The atmosphere, service, drinks, bartenders, bouncers are absolutely phenomenal!! I have the most fun here!
Awesome place! Have always loved it here, looking forward to when they can do the live dance and music shows again. Still a really good vibe, people inside are nice and talkative. Bishop (the GM) is very sweet and just wants everyone to have a good time. Ebrahim (spelling? outdoor bartender) really cares about the drinks he makes, I also love how he shuts down people trying to cut the line for drinks. Overall a really good place to go, get there a bit and hang out!
I came here on a blind date and it was a perfect choice. As a speak easy, there is a "participation" component where you have to figure out where the bar entrance is. I won't give anything away, but we were greeted by a gorgeous woman dressed perfectly in prohibition-era clothing in one room. She revealed the hidden entrance. It's very hidden. That experience was a great conversation starter. The bar has an interior and an exterior. I came on a Thursday night at about 10. Around 11-11:30 it started getting crowded. There are lots of levels which are a few steps above or below the next level, if that makes sense, and the outside is just gorgeous. I was afraid of being cold outside, but there are fireplaces on each end that warm the area sufficiently. I would love to take all my friends here. Such a great spot. Music was also low key rap and hip hop. No trap music! Yay! Great experience.
Great speakeasy-themed bar in heart of Hollywood. Burlesque performances on weekends, occasional live music and cool DJs. It's inside an existing Victorian-styled house just off Hollywood Blvd. After you pass the velvet rope guarded by a hipster-troll with a clipboard and overly self-inflated ego you are treated to a surprise that I won't ruin. The main bar is housed inside(no pun intended) along with vintage items to give it that Prohibition Era feel. There's an awesome outdoor area as you descend the back porch with chaise lounges, outdoor fireplaces and a smaller walk-up bar. I don't care for their beer selection (Alagash is the only one I like) but their drinks are decent if not too expensive (for Hollywood). Also there's a photo booth inside.
Last weekend, I attended @fever_us, Jack & Sally's Bloody Bottomless Sangria Haunted Wedding Celebration. There were certainly things I loved, and some things I didn’t love so much. The event was held at Jane’s House, a historic “haunted” house in a bad part of Hollywood. Once inside the venue, everything was gorgeous, and you forgot where you were for a while. The food was tasty, the drinks constantly refreshed, and the staff was on point! We had chicken taquitos, street tacos, and chocolate cake, all served up with bottomless red wine sangrias. The venue constantly played different Nightmare Before Christmas songs, so the music made me feel like I was in @Disneyland for Halloween. I absolutely loved that. The event could have done a bit more to fit the theme, like include Sally for instance. The price of the ticket was for the exclusivity of a private party in Hollywood, more so than for the ambience. The home itself was beyond gorgeous. Overall, I had a great time and would actually attend another event. #DineWithDavi Follow me @dining_with_davi
This is a cool spot where you enter a house and get to the bar through a secret staircase. The house and patio areas are really cool with the DJ being in the front room of the house and table service being inside and outside. The bar gets really packed, but the bartenders know how to make a fantastic cocktail with proper ingredients. The woman who helped me was quick making 2 orders at a time and taking drink orders quickly. Her speed and accuracy was quite impressive. The line gets long here and the dance area can become very packed. Great bar, but if the wait is over 45 min it may not be worth it. The bouncer was nice and was doing a great job checking ID's and handling the line making sure the line moved.
This is a great hidden bar, with a very theatrical entrance. If you want to check it out, I highly recommend getting there early (like 8pm), otherwise expect to stand in line for a long time. I've been before when the doorman doesn't let the people at the front in, he hand selects the most attractive people and brings them in first.... If you can get past that, the bar itself it very cool. It has a great outdoor area.
Very cool aesthetic and architecture. Courtyard offers large overflow space to chill and get air. Bartenders put a lot of thought and care into the drinks and they’re very delicious! This used to be one of my favorite bars in Hollywood but the “DJ” they have been using recently ruins the experience. Calling her a DJ seems generous since there’s no mixing or transitions involved and she’s just on her phone the whole time. The music played hardly ever passed 2005, and when it did, it was songs that you would hear at a middle school dance. Every time I have been here in the past year they have played YMCA. YMCA!!??!! Maybe this is turning into a bar for boomers? So if you’re younger, maybe try something else!
Extremely busy, even at 11pm/midnight. takes a long time to get to the bar and to get drinks. There’s too many people in the bar to even move around! They have a bouncer and an occupancy limit, so it’s just odd to me that it was like this. I’ve been there multiple times, even on the weekends and it was never like this! The music is ALWAYS good at least. The dance floor was also super packed.. but figured that would be the case with how many people were in the bar! I honestly don’t think I’ll be coming back here sadly, just too many people to enjoy the bar.
Atmosphere was alright. Girls cut in line and flirt with you to either get ahead and/or get you to buy a drink. Don’t get curious with the decor. Security will also roughly lay hands on or push you before saying anything. So don’t stand in front of the stairs or hover in a spot near any doorways, even if you’re not blocking it. I witnessed her use her leg to push someone off of a step. Very unsafe and unprofessional.
My friends and I decided to go here last evening. Got in around 9 and it was not busy at all. Went to order a drink at the bar and the female bartender was extremely rude. Said she didn’t have the drink we were asking for (simple pineapple and tequila). Then proceeded to stare at us like we were idiots. Didn’t offer another option just gave a cold stare. Went to the other bartender shortly after and he happily made the drink. Her attitude was uncalled for and the coldness would make anyone walk out and leave. I had other friends joining us later in the evening who waited for hours outside while the bouncer let in anyone (attractive women) into the bar. Even though they had been there waiting well before the other people let in. This is a nice spot for a great night but service has to be better. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Embarrassing.
It’s beautiful. If you wanna drink, I suggest you bring your own in your pocket. The bartenders take their time when they’re 25 to 30 people deep. Getting your card back is a physical effort. And guess what they don’t take cash unless you have exact change.
Started the night next door at Dirty Laundry, great vibe, friendly bouncers, and solid energy. We were having a blast and decided to swing by No Vacancy to keep the night going. Big mistake! We were greeted by a bearded security guy with a broccoli-shaped haircut who told us the place was full. He explained that there was no line, and they’d be letting people in based on who showed up first. Cool, no problem ,we waited. One full hour later, we’re still standing there, watching people who arrived way after us walk right in. No reservations, no logic. When we politely asked about it, we were ignored and somehow, after that, even more people from behind us got waved in. It honestly felt like he was going out of his way to skip us. The disrespect was wild. At some point it stopped feeling like a line and started feeling like a prank. Our night went from fun to frustrating real fast. No Vacancy might have people inside, but it has a major vacancy when it comes to professionalism and respect for customers. If you’re into being randomly skipped and ignored, this is your place. Otherwise, there are plenty of LA spots that actually know how to treat people decently.
Staff unable to coordinate with upstairs staff. Dress code not enforced. Poorly trained bartender and waitress. Flat tonic water in my G&T. Have had much better experiences at 1919 or JazzTx. Won’t be going back.
listen… this is a fun place to dance and socialize, but the hospitality is abysmal. I waited at the bar for 10 minutes patiently and when i tried to order the girl bartender with brown short hair gave me a dirty look, told me she didn’t like my attitude, and threw a bottle of water at me saying it was all i was gonna get from her. I don’t know if she was having a bad night and was overwhelmed by the volume of orders or what but it was so unprofessional and disrespectful! like girl… really??!? ALSO there were like two other bartenders and the manager standing around watching the other two bartenders struggle!!! such weird energy behind the bar!! whatever you’re looking for, you can get from another place!
Bartender refused to provide water when my girlfriend had the hiccups without charging $4 for a tiny plastic bottle of water. I explained why I would like a glass of tap water and she was rude saying “it doesn’t matter.” What kind of establishment doesn’t provide water upon request, just terrible business practice to price gouge people for water when they are just trying to have a good time and already spending money on your overpriced drinks too. Won’t be returning when there are so many better bars around who don’t treat their customers like that
I used to enjoy visiting this place, but my recent experience was very disappointing. My phone was stolen during my visit, and when I reported it to security, they were unhelpful. They mentioned that phone thefts have been occurring frequently, but offered no assistance or solutions. I understand there are limitations to what they can do, but the lack of support was very frustrating. Will not be returning.
WORST BAR EXPERIENCE EVER. I WAITED IN LINE FOR OVER 20 MINUTES, PATIENTLY, JUST TO BE TOLD THAT I COULDN’T ORDER A DRINK — ONLY A SHOT OR A BEER. MEANWHILE, THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME WERE SERVED FULL DRINKS WITHOUT ANY ISSUE. WHY THE DIFFERENT TREATMENT? I ASKED POLITELY WHY I COULDN’T GET A DRINK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, AND INSTEAD OF AN ANSWER, THEY GAVE ME A BEER (WHICH I ACCEPTED RESPECTFULLY), ONLY TO THEN SNATCH IT AWAY FROM ME AND KICK ME OUT. I’VE NEVER BEEN TREATED WITH SUCH DISRESPECT IN ANY BAR. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL, UNFAIR, AND FELT STRAIGHT-UP DISCRIMINATORY. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. TERRIBLE SERVICE, ZERO CUSTOMER RESPECT, AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. SHAME ON THEM.
First you go, stand in a long queue and then when its your turn the manager denies first that he cannot do. But later as soon as you request he goen near the parking area and tells you upfront that if you want to go you can pay 20$ and move inside. Thats so unethical and weird by the manager himself as the places next to them have so awesome and smooth management. First experience was the worst altho.
What an absolutely horrible place. I planned to have my birthday party here. I made a reservation days in advance, corresponded with management multiple times in the days leading up, I did everything I could on my end to ensure the night would go smoothly. We waited an hour for our reservation. We flagged down staff and management numerous times and each time they said they would get us right in. The woman we were mainly dealing with was the rudest person I have ever experienced in my life. Not only was she unkind, dismissive and unhelpful she genuinely enjoyed that she was making our night miserable. She laughed in our faces, said we really weren’t waiting long ( an hour into waiting for our reservation), and when my group decided to move on she rolled her eyes and sarcastically said sorry. It was a horrible experience and if I could give this place zero stars I would. Give your business elsewhere there are a lot better bars in that area. This place isn’t worth your time and money.
The security staff working the door last night were not only rude and unprofessional, but acted extremely self-important in a situation that didn’t warrant it. They made our whole group feel uncomfortable and made it a negative experience. Unfortunately we only got a photo of one of the guys. Be aware if this guy is working the door.
They told me the only way to get in was to SHUT MY MOUTH AND WAIT. When in reality, I was too BLACK. They had a separate line for white ppl (im not exaggerating) who walked straight in with no problem. Myself, along with every other person of color, were not afforded the same luxury. To be clear, the lines of segregation were not even hidden. Whites to the left, everyone else to the right. No exaggeration!
Super unprofessional security guards and management at this bar. We were standing in front of a set of stairs and a security guard pushed me. Not an acceptable way to handle crowd control.
