Regular customer and has been consistently top drawer. The same restaurant in London would cost twice what they charge and be considered good value. Best restaurant in the north east for me.

We recently went to Irvins the day after our wedding with a party of 36. We preordered our food in advance, but everybody got the right food at the right time and it was all excellently organised. They treated me incredibly well before and during service. The food was all fantastic quality and well presented. I can't recommend them highly enough. Will be returning a lot I hope!!!

Excellent food. You will wait, but for quality food and good service it is worth it! Very relaxed atmosphere, no 'ponsy' attitude here.

Super food, very good value for money compared to the majority of overpriced high street chains. Feel more like you are a guest rather than a number to go on the end of month customer figures

My wife and I have now enjoyed dinners, lunches and bar meals at this Brasserie and our experiences have been consistently good. The quality and preparation of the food is excellent; the service is first class; sometimes there is a wait for a course to appear, but this has always been when the dish has to be freshly cooked, so this is never an issue; the food always looks delicious. All in all, a very good experience.

Sunday dinner for four. Lovely three course dinner. Roast potatoes a little tepid but the rest of veg spot on. Deserts excellent as expected but drinks service a little slow.

I like it but I've had some hit and miss meals. Also wish they'd say that the three course menu could be a one or two course meal if you prefer!

I haven't been to Irvins for some time , food and service always used to be excellent. We went for Sunday lunch on the 30th April, but we're disappointed. The food was its usual excellent quality, but as far as the service was concerned was diabolical. Nobody seemed to know what they were doing with the exception of one person, and we had to wait sometime before being served. The time between courses was unacceptable. Hopefully it was a one off day, It was like the family had been roped in to help out. Don't spoil a lovely restaurant with shoddy service.

Arrived at 6'oclock Saturday, waited over half an hour for our first course - they delayed our main until tables seated before us had their starters and mains - all in all took 1 hour 45 minutes for main & desert. Did give us complimentary bread when I started staring at the kitchen after 25 minutes but this was too little too late. The four mains were a mixed batch - two very good, one ok but the fish & chips with mushy peas were very poor - Mushy peas were crushed garden peas (very wrong - and they were cold). The chips were cut thinly - a little like fries but unseasoned, of varying thickness, and not hot enough. By the time we left the kitchen was working quicker - maybe the manager or owner had arrived and the staff had bucked their ideas up.
