Carmen's La Hacienda Restaurant Novato Reviews
Friendly and accommodating staff plus delicious food. I had one hell of a hangover and the Chilaquiles brought me back to life. Will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in town.
Excellent!! Fresh and carefully prepared food Omgosh please let me edit this to elaborate: IF you have EVER had authentic tortilla soup as I believe I have had back in San Diego in the 90's(!) I literally feel like Ive been transported!. If you are under the weather, order it sans sour xream and cheese--but if not, enjoy the infulgence! Either way, this soup will NOT dissapoint! I must confess I havent ventured beyond the Carmen margarita (one is enough!) and the soup because I am so thoroughly satisfied! I literally now crave this soup and its a must! Thank you chef for fresh ingredients & love!
Outstanding service, warm crackers, tacos prepared so we felt the chef enjoyed cooking. Will be back
The burritos from this place are spectacular!! I frequently get the super burritos, like the one in the picture. The wet burritos are high quality and authentic for a reasonable price. The ambience is also nice with outdoor seating and indoor seating. They also have a large menu with food for all. I highly recommend you try this restaurant otherwise, you’d be missing out on a great meal.
One of the most underrated restaurants I’ve ever visited. Hand down one of the best burritos I’ve ever had and it’s a top tier restaurant that should be on everyone’s radar. Each time I visit NorCal, I make it a part of my itinerary to stop by. Este es el mejor restaurante con comida mexicana en el norte de california. Tienes que visitar.
First time at this place and I have to say it was pretty good. At the beginning it was a little rocky due to I had called ahead to make a reservation because I had 10 guests and I understand that some places with more you need a reservation therefore I called again had been told they weren't taking any which I thought was a bit weird especially it being Mother's day weekend so we got there and had to wait til one family was done to be seated at that table. While many other tables were open I'm just guessing that spot was made for bigger groups. Ok anyways the service was good food was good we stopped by on our way back from the city to celebrate my sisters mother's day since she flew in for SoCal.. The Salsa is amazing by the way both red and green, I had the Asada Taco Salad my Hubby had the Enchilladas Suizas de Pollo my sis had the Asada Chimichanga and her hubs had the California Burrito. All was amazing!!
Carmen’s La Hacienda in Novato is my go-to spot! There’s nothing better than grabbing a seat at the bar, ordering a cold beer, and enjoying chips and salsa while catching a game. And let me tell you, their green salsa is hands down the best I’ve ever had. My usual order? A grilled chicken burrito, and it never disappoints. The downtown vibes, friendly service, and lively atmosphere make this place a must-visit. It’s always bustling, which just proves how loved it is by the community. Whether you’re here for a casual bite or a night out, Carmen’s delivers every time!
First time here, could not be happier. Bright and cheery place with the nicest service. Food came out SOFAST (we ordered the burrito bowl and a burrito, so not a complicated order, but still!) and was delicious! Carne asada was perfectly seasoned, rice perfect, beans perfect, etc etc. And oh my god, the chips and salsa. The chips are light and crispy. The SALSAS. They brought out a salsa verde (fresh, bright, delicious) and a salsa roja (savory, richly tomatoey, garlicky) at first, and when we asked for hot sauce they brought out a habanero that was also incredible. Flavorful with a delayed spice that was the perfect kick in the pants. I honestly couldn’t tell which one I loved the most. Prices were very reasonable. Just everything about this place was wonderful. Try it, you’ll be happy you did.
Visited here on a rainy night with my American friends living in the area. It was highly recommended. They weren't kidding. I had some of the best tortilla chips and burrito I have ever had in my life. Everything was so fresh too. Super Burrito was just gigantic and insanely delicious!
Best Mexican in town. Even in Novato, a small town that has a disproportionate number of Mexican restaurants. Authentic enough by Gringo standards: not a word of English spoken here during my last visit. But don’t let that interfere with the ambience, the friendliness of the staff, and of course, the great food.
This is one of my favorite Mexican spots in Novato and the great news is that they are back and open for outdoor seating! When I found out I had to go back and get some great tacos! The Shelter in Place order had me yearning for some great local dining and Carmens fit the bill. They are nice as always and the food was as good as I had remembered it! The cool thing is that they served breakfast all day on the weekends! My son got an awesome omelet (it was huge) and I got some tacos (no surprise there) and it was great to be outside in Downtown Novato enjoying the fresh air and great meals. I had to go back yesterday actually for another dose of great food. If you like great local Mexican dishes, this is your jam! Edit 05/24/22: Don't forget the Taco Salad and Tequila! :-P Edit 11/11/22: Been back several times and it's still delicious!!!
Delicious Food and Excellent Service at Carmen's La Hacienda On our recent visit to Carmen's La Hacienda in Novato, we had another enjoyable experience. Having been there three times over the past eight years, we were happy to find the quality and atmosphere as delightful as ever. We decided to sit outside, taking advantage of the beautiful weather. The outdoor seating was comfortable and offered a relaxed ambiance, perfect for a casual Sunday lunch. We started with guacamole and chips. The guacamole was fresh and bursting with flavor. I chose a cold Mexican beer while my significant other enjoyed a hibiscus tea. For my main course, I opted for the Carne Asada plate. The thinly sliced steak was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The accompanying refried beans were rich and delicious. My significant other ordered the Quesadilla Suiza, which was generously filled with melty cheese, making for a satisfying and comforting meal. The service was outstanding. Our server, a young man, was both professional and attentive throughout our visit. His friendly demeanor and prompt service added significantly to our positive experience. This visit solidified why we have returned to Carmen's La Hacienda. The consistent quality of the food, the pleasant ambiance, and the excellent service make it a top choice for Mexican cuisine in Novato. We left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit.
I recently visited this place and it was slow just me and my daughter as a customers , place our order and minutes later server comes back saying they don’t have what I ordered okay I ordered something else , she checked on us ones and asked if we need more tortilla chips and salsa and I say yes please she disappeared and never checked on us again,we finish eating and I was waiting for her to bring the bill but I have to look for her around finally she bring the bill and disappeared again at this point a just went to the register to pay but she was taking phone orders this is ridiculous,be carful wen order an egg I ask for one scramble egg and they charge me $5 dollars for it .
I had shrimp tacos. It was mostly lettuce. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Worst Mexican food I have tasted in a long time.
Tried this place for the first time today, 6/22/22, and I started eating a regular burrito with Al Pastor. There Al Pastor was okay, didn’t have a lot of flavor compared to everywhere else I’ve eaten. I’m about halfway through the burrito, when I look down and see a bug in my food, about the size of a grain of rice. I then start checking the burrito and find 3 more inside. Immediately puked when I saw it cause if I found 4 in the second half, how many did I ingest. Please triple check your food if you have to eat here.
