Great Korean food. Korean BBQ, kimchi, ramen, gyoza, soju, sake. Small, almost private booths and great service from the staff.

This has got to be the best korean restaurant I've ever been to. They serve fresh and delicious food that brings joy to the table. Everyone I've ever brought came to love to food, service, and the overall vibe. With the pandemic they take the necessary precautions and are extremely safe. Gloves, masks, and coverings are used at all times. Even though in-dining is a great part of the experience, I frequently come back for the food. Hands down the best korean restaurant I've been to. Literally everything on the menu is delicious and fresh!!!

A
Asa Zernik

Awesome place for small groups to hang out. Food is tasty (I go there alone for food a lot, even though that isn't really the target audience), service is attentive (use the pager buttons!), and atmosphere and noise level are good for conversation. Beer and beef, all the way!

Tin & Pig is the BEST Korean restaurant in the East Bay. Although Tin & Pig is intended to be a drinking establishment that serves food, they have the best tofu soup and Korean BBQ hands down - over other restaurants that specialize in those dishes. The family that runs the restaurant is hypervigilent and will go out of their way to accommodate folks with food allergies and restricted diets. Though they specialize in meat dishes, they give you bottomless servings of tasty side-dishes that are often vegetarian, gluten-free or both. Seating is intimate since every table is in its own private booth. This makes it a great place for dates, but also for small and large groups. They even have bells in each booth so you can call your server! The service and quality of the food is unequal in terms of speed and attention to detail. The only downside is that there's only street parking in what some bougie folks would consider a sketchy stretch of Telegraph. Man, I hope this place doesn't get overrun with hipsters.

This place is amazing! They got started just before the apocalypse and they’re still going strong with a loyal and friendly staff that goes out of their way to accommodate. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, AND they’re open late! Call for pick up!

B

Get the fried chicken and don't look back. Super good service, the brisket was great and we had a pitcher of Soju for 30 dollars, all about it. Definitely worth a trip!

Insanely delicious food, everything we ordered was absolutely divine. The garlic soy sauce fried chicken is something of another world, quite possibly the best fried chicken I have ever had

J

Their Korean fried chicken (KFC) is the best in SF and East Bay. Fried in a light oil, it's not very greasy and the sauces are not overpowering. The foods are traditional with a tiny bit of experimenting which makes it great.

G

This place is amazing. Little booths are small, but sitting elbow to elbow eating delicious Korean food and drinking soju with your friends is awesome. All the food here is fantastic.

S
Sevan Nahabedian

Not sure which is better their food or the ambience/decor. They have these little booths for parties of 4 or less in addition to a larger room for bigger parties. It’s a great place for a date, dinner, or late night drinks. I love their yogurts soju drinks. I always order the fried chicken. Their corn cheese and fried squid is amazing. Their side dishes are my favorite. (I miss when they used to add blueberry and apple to the macaroni salad salad though) 10/10 tin and pig is a gem. It is worth crossing the bridge or sitting in traffic. If you’re not looking for super traditional Korean food you won’t be disappointed.

J
Jessica Huang

Fried chicken, corn cheese, and bulgogi were so good! Banchans all tasted really fresh. I’m surprised it wasn’t busier, feels like a hidden gem, but that meant no wait and great service. Would definitely eat here again.

Z

Took me a while to find this spot since the sign isn't noticeable. Once you're inside, all of the booths are like little rooms and very private. The chicken is awesome. Just so tasty. Their tofu soup is awesome too. You even get a button at the table to ring for service so that you are only disturbed when you want to be. I was so happy to find this spot and would rank it pretty high for my favorite chicken spots in the area.

J

Great Korean place with authentic food and good vibes. Come with friends and share a few of the dishes. The fried chicken is delicious and plentiful. I also really enjoyed the spicy pork bulgogi and recommend it. Definitely check out this place!

This place is so good. I walked in at 1am after working an event, they treated me so damn well. Awesome fried chicken at recommendation from the server - I was not disappointed at all. High prices, but completely worth it. Sides, combinations with beer and the private booths really give this place a certain charm and appeal that I'll be seeking everywhere... Until I come back again!

J

Food was honestly amazing for someone who never had anything like this before. Staff was friendly, service was rather quick for the most part. Recommend the fried chicken, it was honestly eye opening. However, don't be afraid to try the ramen with rice cake dish, I can't remember exactly what it was, but nonetheless really good.

Tin & Pig is my favorite Korean spot in the bay! It's great for groups, food is awesome, service is friendly, and just feels like a generally relaxed experience overall. Grab some friends and order some combos, some drinks, fried chicken, grilled pork belly, pancakes, etc, and you're bound to have a good time.

H
Hsieh Wai-Yu

Tried Korean fried chicken at couple different places, Tin & Pig is my #1. Their fried chicken and fried chicken wings are so good that I kept ordering again and again (and every time I told myself I will try something new next time). The good thing is I get to verify that their quality maintains. I got that same tasty, perfectly fried chicken every time.

J
Jeff T

Great food selection in a definitely hip Korean restaurant with a cool decor with tin walls and little street feel with tables in little private booths. Parking is a little dicey on this side of Telegraph but it is Oakland. I would say food is definitely on the pricey side like your typical Korean joint but the portions are great. Soups are really good and they don't skimp on ingredients. We had a rice cake soup as well as Kim chi pancake and bulgogi. Mandoo is was good too. The Korean side dishes were fresh. But definitely cost was up. Still I recommend going to go drinking and a good time. Chicken was decent but I wouldn't say the best Korean fried chicken I've had. Probably needs a little more sizzle to the seasoning. We got the sweet and spicy but next time will try the garlic soy

C

Covid-Take out friendly! Totally delicious. Both the traditional wings and the boneless chicken were super juicy and flavorful. Banchan (side dishes) were so good and a must order in my opinion. Shop surprised us and threw in a coke and side of dumplings too! Really can't recommend this enough.

Such a good atmosphere that really feels like Seoul in terms of the aesthetic. On top of it the food is really good. We had the budae jigae and kimchi fried rice and it was so good.

J
Justin Snider

Super delicious Korean food with heaps of options. There's a lot of great Korean food down telegraph and most of them are really good. I think I prefer Tin & Pig because of the bigger selection. It's hard to find because of a lack of a light but definitely worth looking for. The fried chicken and military soup were the highlights of our meal!

J
Jonathan Hong

Great food, solid drinks and an extensive menu to boot! Personally enjoyed the fried chicken and the pork belly. If you're looking for a snack/drink to share, get the chimek combo!

Ordered fried chicken wings (perfect) and beef japchae (delicious). And, even though I wasn't eating at the restaurant, they there in some side dishes. Dear Baby-Jesus the macaroni fruit salad is so freaking good. The shop has street parking and a bunch of Korean-style small booths for some privacy and noise isolation. I'll definitely go back to admire the free fashion show :)

Our favorite Korean in east bay. Their fried chicken and tteokbokki are the best we’ve had from more than 10 restaurants in the area! The vibes are fun for a pregame or date night with the booths in the front and the kpop is always a vibe! Their kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake, Korean style ramen, kimchi soup are some of our favs too

S

The inside is so cool. Love that the booths are secluded. The food is amazing. Would definitely recommend stopping in if in the area.

Don’t let the drug-den exterior fool you, this is some of the best Korean food I’ve had. Extremely clean inside, and the semi-private booths are a nice touch. Staff is extremely polite and helpful with questions, food comes quick and is just excellent.

I returned to Kang Tong Degi for a reunion last month. The point of this place is to drink. A LOT. And then take pictures! The yellow wallpaper with the Korean characters makes for great ones. This place is expensive! Even though I've been coming to this place for five years now, I have never seen the menu until a couple of weeks ago (go figure). But wow really? I am now inspired to open a Korean restaurant. I really really like the food here. I wish I could be more specific. But I'm not Korean enough to articulate. Sorry!

K pop and fusion Korean dishes make for a fun evening! Fried chicken and yogurt soju are a must have combination! Trendy garage asian decor is awesome! Cozy place and will pack up with peeps looking for comfort food

J

I'm not sure what to call this subset of Korean food, but it's pretty tasty: Think fried chicken wings, ddeokbokki and soju. They had a pretty varied menu, and everything we ordered was good. We had attentive service too.

Called in for takeout late on a Saturday night. It was 11:30 PM. Surprisingly, the restaurant was completely empty. I thought there would be more people hanging out here! Not too familiar with Oakland, but maybe it was a location issue? Anyways, we called and had an estimate of 25 minutes, but our food was ready in 15 minutes. Going inside, paying and checking out was easy. We specifically wanted bossam. We also got the tteokbokki. Service was quick and friendly. At home, when we started to eat, we wish the bossam had more cabbage than the portion of steamed napa cabbage they gave us. The sauce flavors were good though and they gave us some banchan. The tteokbokki was tasty. We were also able to takeout some makgeolli since the H-Marts and other Asian grocers were closed at this time. All in all it got our bossam fix taken care of.

Been here several times since their change in ownership. Happy to report the food is as good as ever. They even have to option of grilling the meat for you at your table, which is a great time saver and everyone gets to enjoy the food. Last time we came here, we got the garlic soy friend chicken, the marinated short ribs, spicy rice cakes, chicken intestines, kimchee stew, and seafood pancake. We loved EVERYTHING, but the top three (in no particular order) were the short ribs, chicken, and chicken intestines. Trust me on the intestines. Even if you feel squeamish about eating intestines, I would recommend that you try it. The flavor of grilled peppers and onions really go well with the chewy intestine make it a great dish to share and snack on. I tried the boiled silkworm pupae on another visit (first time trying it ever). While I wouldn't say it's for everyone, I did enjoy the savory and almost medicinal flavor of the broth and the pupae. Lots of garlic in the broth. Hey, what's the point of having so many cuisines available to you if you don't try something that makes your heart pound a little harder, right? And who knows? You may be pleasantly surprised at what you like!

This place has turned into our "go to" Korean BBQ/bar spot. If we're only in it for the BBQ, we'll probably go somewhere else, but if we want to hang out and have a good time while enjoying some good food, we go here. Food - The food is good. My friends and I have never been disappointed with the food here. I don't claim to be a Korean BBQ connoisseur, but everything I've tried I wouldn't mind getting again. I especially recommend their fried chicken in brown (peanuty?) sauce. This is one of the few places I know of that provides you with rice paper wrap for your food. Maybe it's a different style of Korean BBQ preparation, but my friends and I prefer it to the non-rice paper style. Atmosphere - it is what you'd expect at a Korean bar... alcohol..smoke...loud patrons playing drinking games... small bathrooms...korean music in the background The reason I'm only giving them 4 stars is because of the times I've been there, the amount of side dishes we received always varied (sometimes 4... sometimes 8...sometimes more). I can't help but think they are holding out on us.

Absolutely great spot for solo dining. I had the ramen, fried squid and strawberry yogurt cocktail. The ramen was delicious and came with several banchan options and the strawberry cocktail was so strong it almost knocked me over ! 9/10 only because the fried squid was a bit oily.

N

Solid Korean food. The fried chicken is flavorful and not greasy; the kimchi pancake is one of the best I've had. Spicy rice cake was just a tad sweet for my taste, but overall good. Portions are generous, too.

Came with a group of friends after being recommended this spot. The interior is nice and cozy and our server was kind and respected that we were just snacking, drinking and hanging out. We never felt rushed. Ordered the tteokbokki and ramen and it was decently spicy with the perfect texture. The winner was the KFC we had in their sweet and spicy sauce. Came with pickled daikon cubes and a small shredded cabbage side. The most unfortunate part was that we parked on 37th and telegraph (in front of the chapel, extremely close to the main road, and across the street from "Big Daddy's Chinese Restaurant")-- and one of our car's back passenger window was smashed in. The area was well lit from the chapel lights too. They didn't take anything from the vehicle but they did rummage through the trunk. Working on getting the local camera footage. Our experience was ultimately ruined by the car vandalism. We absolutely loved the spot. We had discussed, prior to leaving the restaurant, that we'd return to try more food as the setting is intimate and friendly, but we'd be afraid of our cars.

I used to love this place. Very authentic food but now I have to give it a less favorable review because I can’t bbq my food any more. They also don’t have the sesame oil salt either. The food is good but bot the same and it was my favorite place.

Menu looked incredible! Interior pictures looked welcoming but when we got there, there was only street parking. Also on the left and right side of the doors there were homeless people sitting on the sidewalk so we left.:( My family was afraid to enter.

I didn't love the food here. The vibe is great and the booths are nice. But I found all three of the dishes we ordered to be underwhelming. The fried chicken sweet and sour sauce was a little off for my taste, and it wasnt crunchy and juicy as I hoped. The seafood pancake was way too soft, you couldnt even pick it up with chopsticks without it breaking, let alone dip it in the sauce. And the bo ssam was alright, but also a little unbalanced and missing something. In an area with tons of delicious Korean restaurants, and especially for the price, I would not recommend coming here if you're looking for great food. If you want a spot to drink with friends in a cool ambiance, it may be worth it!

Good vibes but the food is not good and very overpriced. We ordered hot pot and there’s barely anything in it, sea food wasn’t fresh, and broth tasted like shin ramen seasoning packet…

Came on a Friday at 6:45pm, party of 4. We were the only people at the restaurant until close to 8pm, that says something. Food was average or below average. I had it bookmarked for the wings, maybe in the past this was a good spot. Now, we were totally underwhelmed, really nothing to write home about. What is worse, they were $27!?! Go somewhere else for good wings. I had the brisket ramen, and it was bland. I really wanted to like this place. I was disappointed that I suggested to come here.

Dined there Friday night. Place has a nice atmosphere and the workers are nice, but for the amount we paid it was disappointing. I don't know if they thought we were ignorant or what, but to not be given any banchan was not worth the price. For some reason the table with Korean diners across from us that just ordered fried chicken got it. Maybe we had to ask for it, but that's never been the case at other restaurants. The confusion came from it being called a gastro pub and some of their dishes on the menu stating that they serve certain amount of people. I asked just to make sure it was family style and they said no, each dish was "individual," flat out lie. Whatever money they saved on not serving banchan they lost on us never returning. The food was also not anything special either. The bar under Gogi has way way better fried chicken.
