Buccaneer Cafe Oceanside Reviews
Directly across from the ocean, this place came highly recommended to us by an O-side local. It did not disappoint. We ordered the California breakfast burrito and The Buccster smoothie. We split each and thank goodness we did or we would have eaten the entire thing. Prices are reasonable. Quality of food is off the charts. Organic coffees, gluten free, beautiful Acai bowls and other choices. The breakfast burrito was truly the best I've ever had. This place is open 7a-2p daily rain or shine. We happened to arrive at peak hour - about 40 people in line. We stuck it out and it was definitely worth the wait. You order at the counter and they call your name. Plenty of random seating, from stools and picnic tables to the seawall across the street. Make a point to visit this place - a quintessential California gem.
I love this place. The atmosphere was very cozy and warm with plants. All around the service was quick and speedy but accurate all of the servers for a really really nice and I love them. Their donuts are good. Their food is good. their food is amazing if I were you, I recommend the burrito and hot chocolate with a doughnut because they are bomb. There’s also a beach right beside it and they have a little bar for you to sit at.
The Bucaneer is a fantastic place for breakfast and lunch. Their portions are very large and generous and can easily be shared by two people. The California Burrito is very tasty.
It’s a beautiful designed restaurant right next to the beach and has an amazing atmosphere. The food is amazing. All the workers are super nice and their service is quick and speedy but taste amazing if I were you, I’d recommend the hot cocoa and their burritos.
Had my daughter’s birthday catered by Buccaneer Cafe on their great patio! This location is absolutely awesome but the food is even better!!! Jennifer was so kind, thoughtful and totally easy to work with!!! Definitely recommend this place for either catering or going by to grab a bite!!!
I was looking for a great breakfast burrito and found this place. It’s all open air seating, but a great view of the Pacific Ocean. I got there California burrito and it was on point. They have two different sauces for the burrito and they were both great. I grabbed a cup of coffee and it was good, but not really hot. Still good, but the food, service and view made up for it. You have to stop by and check it out.
My wife and I came to Oceanside from Detroit on our vacation last February and stopped here for the vegan burrito. It has been almost a year and I have not stopped thinking about it but especially the HOT SAUCE. I need this sauce. Contemplating a plane ticket just to taste the sauce again. THANK YOU this place rules.
Been coming here since I was a kid...and it's just as good now as ever. Same vibe and they crank it out, so don't let the line deter you...it's there for s reason....and again, they crank it out, so it won't take to long
Really cool location by a park and a small beach. The breakfast burrito was exactly what you want it to be. Stuffed, grilled, with sauce options on the side. Lemonade was super fresh as well.
Little café right in front of the beach. I tried the avocado toast and it was really tasty. Service was quick, and you can tell it’s popular because there’s always a line. The cashier was super helpful too.
Great gem of a local cafe. Adjacent to a parking lot and right across from a beach access. Walk up, order and enjoy. The kids pancake was delicious and perfectly made. Burritos and egg sandwiches. The red salsa had a smokey Tex Mex flavor, went perfect without being too spicy, just right.
A great little place across from the ocean with limited patio seating. A gem for breakfast and coffee. Had the breakfast burrito with bacon and it was loaded. The honey latte was good, though it could have used a tad more honey.

Fun, small roadside stand. Food was great. Definitely a popular place as there was a line to order the entire time we were there. They have GF/DF options for those with allergies. Had the avocado toast with egg. Super good!
Quality food, loco moco was great. On the peppery side, no addins in their gravy. From my one experience - order the patty one level-more rarer than you prefer

The soyrizo burrito is my favorite breakfast burrito in Oceanside. It just may be the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. I always add guacamole (YUMMM!) It is seriously delicious and the salsa at Buccaneer is unlike any other. I can't get enough of it. The staff is also really nice and the vibes are unmatched. You can order your breakfast burrito and walk right across the street and eat it on the beach. What could be better than that?!
What a fantastic place. We were staying in Oceanside on vacation and every morning right at 7am when it opened there was a line, it’s well deserved. The food is soooo good, the staff friendly. There are picnic benches to sit and enjoy. It’s directly across the street from public beach access. We enjoyed grabbing coffee and a breakfast sandwich and watching the early morning surfers.
I have been on the hunt for the best breakfast burrito in Oceanside/ Carlsbad, and definitely found it here! The Cali burrito and bacon, egg, and cheese were top tier. The atmosphere is perfect bc you’re right on the water basically. Iced lattes were great too! Check this place out!
My favo Californian-style breakfast burrito around the area! Great açaí bowls, solid smoothies, decent coffee, and a good location right across from the beach. Definitely stop by for a burrito 😋

This was our favorite food find on our vacation. We had to go twice. I loved the California breakfast burrito, wife loved the avocado toast, kids loved the açaí bowls. Great spot right across from Buccaneer Beach.

Had a bacon breakfast burrito for $13+ cash. Credit card is additional fee. No prices on the menu & there's a note on the menu saying costs fluctuate so their prices do too. Im not a fan of that business practice. Salsa is mild & very flavorful. Location is great, lifeguard tower 11 & beach is directly across the street. Outside seating is nice with ocean breezes. Ladies restroom my wife said was clean. Mens was graffiti riddled and wasn't clean.
Awesome cafe. I started occasionally coming here a few weeks ago. I usually get the California Breakfast Burrito (basically a California Burrito with eggs). Yesterday, I also got a Banana/Strawberry/OJ smoothie. Both the burrito and smoothie are pretty good. They're a bit expensive, but willing to pay it. Also, they close at 2pm. I kinda wish they stayed open till 2:30/3 because there have been times I've been crusing by between 2 and 2:30 and want to stop by.

Food is good but staff is a bunch of kids. Be sure to bring cash otherwise you'll get a dirty look if you don't tip. Low effort by the staff, they will call your name once if your food is ready and then will leave it there to get cold not thinking to call the name again.
I almost didn’t want to leave a review, because I didn’t want to feel embarrassed letting people know that I fell for the hype that the best breakfast burrito in Oceanside, would come from a non-Mexican restaurant. But as I took more bites of the kitchen sink burrito, I need to leave to review to vent about the delusions of everyone recommending this place. It was so, so underwhelming. The only flavor was salt. Chopped up sausage patties, ham steak and bacon with unseasoned eggs and cheese. I only have myself to blame that I read that list and thought huh, this has potential to be the best in Oceanside. A burrito made for the tourists of Oceanside whose top burrito before this was probably from the freezer aisle. Go to literally any Mexican restaurant nearby, and I promise it will taste better, have better salsa to pair it with, and be cheaper. Won’t be trying anything from there again.
The loco moco is great. Breakfast burrito pretty good but has a sweetness in one of the ingredients that threw me off. The English muffin breakfast sandwich is a size that should cost $2 max. Their menu has a handwritten note that their prices can change at any time from what menu shows, they charge 3% if you don’t pay cash. They use the common tactic of compliment or question about your day when it’s tip screen time. Some business took the “I appreciate you” era during Covid to heart and are taking as much as people will put up with paying. Soon napkins and utensils will have a surcharge. I consider all this a cost of eating with a beach view and the only reason I may return once a year.

I don’t recommend this place We waited 20 minutes just to get our coffees after everyone in line behind us got their food and drinks I can definitely feel the vibe was off with us, definitely won’t come eat here again rather go to elsewhere for Mexican food sad part is we been here plenty of times and service use to be better
