Small wonderful sushi restaurant with amazing fresh sashimi and sushi. Fantastic attentive friendly service! I loved NY Omakase sushi and sashimi plate! And the tempura ice cream was a nice send off into the night!

I went here recently with my girlfriend and it was a fantastic experience. The food was great and our server Jay made our experience lovely. Will be coming back soon for round 2!

Great sushi spot in Ojai. Highly recommend checking it out! It’s just a few minutes down the road from the busy downtown area so it is nice and peaceful. Food was delicious and service was amazing, the waitress and owner were so kind and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Great sushi. Safe and responsible chefs with the right kind of attitude you want re: handling raw fish. service staff has always been friendly. some of the reviewers here that rag on them are lacking perspective and compassion. this place, like so many in Ojai, is empty then gets slammed. staff does the best they can. instead of thinking of ways you can ask a server to bend over backwards for you and criticise where they fail, how about knowing what you want, ordering it, enjoying it and going on your merry way? want that special attention? you'll get it. come by when they first open up. don't create conflict and wait for peak times. small town. slammed staff. be considerate. They're nice people that deserve kindness. I'm happy to have them.

Absolutely amazing. This is the best sushi I've had since the first time I ever tried it. Everything was so fresh and prepared beautifully! The house salad was so fresh and crispy and the ginger dressing was perfectly sweet and tangy. I don't normally have an opinion of miso soup, but when I tasted this it was perfectly savory and before I knew it the bowl was empty. And that was just the starters. Needless to say I enjoyed the sushi and sashimi as well. Incredibly tasty and perfectly prepared. The staff was all super friendly as well. Overall a perfect experience.

Decent place w plenty of varieties. The price is totally worth it since the food portion is hugee. Not exactly mindblowing in terms of taste and service, but I'd come back any day!

The sushi is pretty good and the staff is friendly. I’m not a major sushi expert but I normally get cucumber salad, edamame is excellent, and various roles including the famous Ojai aka scallop roll. They moved into a newer nice location and are better than ever. Fast dependable service and very tasty. My wife loves their vegetable and shrimp tempura so be sure to try that.

Ate here tonight and tried the sashimi plate, Eel, chicken+mushroom skewers, miso soup, gyoza, and their coconut salmon. My favorite dish was definitely the coconut salmon and their sashimi! This place is affordable and delicious. The service could be better. Overall a pleasant experience!

My son and I ate here for dinner. We chose to sit on the front deck because it was nice and cool outside. In addition, we were charged for “additional” eel sauce when neither of the rolls which traditionally have eel sauce (salmon skin, and eel avocado rolls) did not have any eel sauce on them. And don’t reply with a response about the increasing price of fish, you are a sushi restaurant, and there are plenty of other restaurants that provide adequate sized rolls.

We’ve been regular customers for many years and even now during the pandemic we have been doing takeout about once a week. The food is usually consistently good and fresh and the portion sizes until recently have been good. 2 weeks ago my wife and I placed our usual order which before tip is usually about $100.00. The food arrived and we were very disappointed with the portion sizes. They seemed about half the regular size so I called to complain but got no answer so I called again still no answer so I left a message with my phone number but didn’t receive a call back. I was so disappointed that I didn’t order again for almost 2 weeks. Finally I decided to give them another chance, so, tonight I called and explained to the woman who answered the phone what had happened the last time and she apologized and seemed to be very surprised at what I told her. She said she would talk to the owner and let him know about my concerns. Anyway, I went ahead and placed my order and when it arrived home it was the same mini size again. I am so disappointed, I have never written a review before but I honestly feel robbed, to pay over $100.00 for what looks like about $10.00 worth of food and for the second time even after I brought it to there attention? I won’t be going back there, they lost a long time customer and I will tell others about my experience.

But, our last two attempts have been dismal failures. Never even got seated. Happened again last night. We rolled into a half full dining room, said table for five, they look at the empty tables - four tops and six tops - and say 'Sorry, we aren't set up for 5.' We say we're happy to sit five to a four top, just pull up an extra chair. 'No we can't do that.' TBH it's sort of mind boggling. Never happens anywhere else in town or out of town. OBC, Rotie, Zaidee's, Rory's, etc.... luckily, Ojai has a bunch of great, friendly places to eat. We walked over to OBC and were welcomed with open arms and big smiles for a great meal. We're done with Hakane. When we want Japanese, with two, four, or god forbid - 5 people! - we'll go to Sakura.
