Java & Joe Ojai Reviews
Consistently soooo good! That’s my biggest issue with a lot of places is it’ll be great one time and not good the next. They have a lot of unique and sweet coffee flavors. I recommend the vanilla lavender latte. Also they put a good amount of ice, unlike Starbucks that fills up the whole cup with ice.
A really nice little Coffee Shop of the main road of Ojai. I had a wonderful Bee Hive Latte 🍯that had the perfect balance of creamy to rich and robust. ☺️
Great coffee shop with good baristas. Nice and quiet off the main street of Ojai!
Great little cafe in a quiet corner of Ojai, a 2 min walk from downtown. Their outdoor patio has been a lifesaver in pandemic times.

Long time Ojai staple. Very laid back atmosphere, it's not uncommon to see small groups lingering at the outdoor cafe tables as the day goes by. I've always enjoyed their coffee choices. I'm partial to plain black coffee so I can't comment on the lattes and flavored brews but I do know they serve it hot and fresh! Funny greeting/postcard selection (probably the best intown). Service was efficient and courteous.
Wonderful variety of coffee drinks, all customizable and hot, over ice, or ice blended. Delicious tart lemonade and baked goods as well, and lovely patio seating -- all in the heart of Ojai!
Omg this was the best latte I’ve ever gotten, it was the rose vanilla latte with oat milk. My boyfriend got the German chocolate mocha, and he loved it ! he said it was the best coffee he’s ever had. 10/10
Loved the Black Forest Mocha coffee with lovely cherry and chocolate flavors! Such inventive coffees that I really had a hard time choosing! They have alternative milks, a huge variety of teas, and a cute gift shop section. We'll done, Java & Joe! I'll be back soon!
My first time having coffee here. Living in Ojai for 10+ years and never stopped into this heavenly jem! Reasonably priced, fast service and friendly staff!! Muffins were delicious.
I've always enjoyed this coffee shop. It gives a great local tourist vibe. There is a little gift shop inside as well so you can do a little shopping while you wait for your drinks. I enjoy the mochas or the white chocolate drinks. Yummy!
Nice cozy place, funny cards to read while you wait for your drink. It's such a different comparison to Starbucks, the local coffee shop. You can see the 20+ varieties of syrups they have for drinks. Absolutely lovely place.
Favorite local coffee shop, good prices, lots of local art and products sold inside. Only has outdoor seating, and not too many pastry or food options, but good drinks.
This has been my favorite coffee shop since it opened over 30 years ago. I still have the promotional coffee cup, sold for five dollars, with $.75 refills as long as I own the cup. Only two (new) employees have challenged the $.75 charge for a cup of coffee in 30 years. Thank you, Joe, the owner, for informing them that it is a legitimate coffee refill cup (at 1994 prices)! Java and Joe’s sells the most fantastic specialty coffee in Ventura County.

It's coffee. Shots are a bit weak, and flavors generic and non-impactful despite asking for extra flavor. - wall of coffee behind makeshift counter with no access to sample the variety of coffee ~ bit disappointing but has potential

I am sad to not have tried their coffee and patio. I understand, no dogs inside but they could have been polite about it and could have turned ii into a 5 star experience. "I am sorry sir we only allow dogs on the patio or if you like we can have you wait outside and bring you order to you." 6 stars if he apologized to my cute corgi. Ha ha. To be clear, i am not at all complaining about the no dog policy just how I was addressed. So I went to Love's instead and, yup, got me some love.
If your going to run a coffee shop do your customers a favor and make sure your employees are trained to be baristas. I just got a single shot 12 oz cappuccino that was handed to me lukewarm and the girl stood and instead of pouring the foam in the cup she took a spoon and spooned it in which tells me that she hasn't been properly trained yet she still got the $4.50 regardless for the cappuccino.
They have good coffee and above standard tea here. However their service is lackluster and the overall energy of the shop suggesed a lack of attention to detail/care and a knack for thrift. Service was prompt, however lacked courtesy.

First and last visit. Young skinny brunette boy was short, sarcastic, argumentative, unhelpful. Would not follow directions. Dark roast was brewed at more than double strength so it was like Turkish coffee + smokey soot. Awful. No public toilet. Wouldn't give out the wifi password and was rude about me asking. All this for $4 cup with only white sugar. Yuk. After the fact I found that they charged my credit card twice.
Very low quality and unhealthy pastries. Read the ingredients next time you go there. I did, and not going back.
As I work nearby I have been to this coffee shop many times and every time I walk away disappointed. Not only do the people who work here know absolutely nothing about espresso or espresso-based drinks (yes, there is a difference between a cappuccino and a latte, and no if the milk doesn't say organic on the packaging it's not organic) they also know nothing about service. Unfriendly, rude and just awful all round. Good coffee is worth a journey and from now on I shall make the trek to Beacon down the road.

Hello, I was very disappointed and disgusted at the treatment I received this morning at your establishment. I was discriminated against for my disability told to leave. I explained to the young dark-haired boy at the counter that I will stand by the door to order even though I felt uncomfortable and singled-out. I tried to show him the note from my doctor as to why I can't cover my face and was told "No such thing exists." When I told him Dr. Robert Levin who extended the mandate put on Ventura County Public Health Order that certain people are exempt from wearing a face covering if they have a medical disability, he said again, "No such thing exists and to leave." Really shocked at this kind of treatment in our very small town of Ojai.
