Gather - Omaha Omaha Reviews
We had such a great experience at Gather for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, and any small hiccups were handled immediately and graciously. That kind of service speaks volumes. The real stars of the night were the staff. They were attentive without hovering, checked in at just the right moments, and worked together seamlessly. It’s honestly one of the best teams I’ve seen in action in a long time. Tony did an outstanding job keeping everything running smoothly on a very busy evening. My absolute favorite was the Gnocchi Bruschetta. Totally unexpected with so many layers of flavor. So good. We also loved touring the hydroponic farm in the basement. It’s pretty amazing to see where those super fresh greens are grown right in downtown Omaha.
Noah was our server and did a fantastic job! Thoughtful suggestions that work well for me and my guest. Checked back to ensure we were pleased with our selections. Continued with dessert offerings that did not feel pushy but perfect timing for a sweet course. Food was tasty and presented nicely. Atmosphere was lovely and warm!
Brussel sprouts & thai dish were absolutely delicious. Ordered the zaatar carrots and would personally recommend removing them. They dont really taste like zaatar (speaking as a palestinian) and were not a very fun dish to have as an appetizer. Service was amazing with the waitress who explained everything and did an amazing job for serving our big group and making sure we had everything we need. Light is super looow.
I had been wanting to try Gather since I moved to Omaha about a year ago, and Omaha Restaurant Week was the perfect opportunity to do so. I had a delicious 3 course meal for $40, and I happened to be there during a weeknight happy hour too. The braised short rib was incredible and I am still thinking about it days later. I will be back to try the regular menu and next year for Omaha Restaurant Week!
I couldn’t have had a better experience at Gather! The caliente way is one of the best drinks I’ve ever had and the pork ribeye was THE best meal I’ve ever had. Service was great and the setting was perfect our anniversary celebration! We will definitely be back!
Went here last Saturday to catch up with a few friends. The atmosphere was truly incredible, perfect for a good relaxing dinner. Love the fact that they grow some of their own greens, and the cocktails are seriously top notch, especially for the price you get them for. Definitely coming back soon
The food was overall incredible, the drinks were quick, and the service was awesome. By far the start of the night were the pork buns. Easily one of the best bites of food I’ve had in months since moving to Omaha. So many different flavors and textures. Probably could have ordered 2-3 more pork bun apps and skipped the entree!
We tried three dishes here: the Caesar salad, elk Bolognese pasta, and pork buns — and all three were absolutely delicious! The pork buns were incredibly soft and fluffy, and the filling of veggies and meat was full of flavor. The elk Bolognese came with grilled baguette slices, and the smoky aroma from the grill was so good I’d definitely order more next time. It paired beautifully with the rich, hearty sauce. I also had Caesar salad with anchovies on top for the first time — the tangy flavor was surprisingly good and made it a perfect match with beer. As for drinks, I initially ordered a local beer and received a canned one, but later realized you get draft beer if you order from the "Tap Beer" section — so be sure to check that! The staff here were all incredibly kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. Downstairs, there's a beautiful indoor hydroponic vegetable growing area — really unique and worth a look. Highly recommend this place!
Delicious farm to table eats with a refreshing spin! We enjoyed the Waygau steak, Salmon Pesto Gnocchi and Orzo salad with a side of grilled asparagus! Make sure to make a reservation because they do book quickly! We also enjoyed the Watermelon Margarita on a summer day!
Mix Spring Salad Gnocchi Special cocktail Manager met me at the door, felt bad that I was coming in 20 min before closing. The service in Hospitality was next to none. And the food was fantastic. Great place for business meetings and casual dining and date nights
Excellent vibe and a perfect level of service on our week night visit. Loved that the greens are grown in the hydroponic garden which you can visit in the basement. The only reason I gave the food four stars was that it seemed a bit overpriced and the elote was just average. We’ve had better elsewhere. However, we LOVED Brussels which were perfectly seasoned. The burger had lots of veggies-perfect for me but not for a meat lover.
The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, tables are not shoved together. Our waitress was very helpful in answering our questions and making recommendations. We enjoyed all aspects of the meal from drinks to dessert. The pork buns and flourless cake stole the show. We will be back.
excellent food. fresh and delicious. i got the burger on the gluten free bun and subbed fries for mashed potatoes. my boyfriend got the elk bolognese. we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. we shared the chocolate cake for dessert. 10/10. would 100% return.
Absolutely outstanding! Me and my husband love going here for date nights! So so so good! Food is so fresh and delicious. For the second time we got Michelle as our waitress and she is sooo good at her job! Really sweet and kind. Thank you Gather for amazing experiences and creating memories!
Oh my goodness!! This was such a lovely date night! First we were welcomed with smiles into a spacious, clean and inviting establishment! I did not think it would be so big. We sat at the bar and Chelsea gave us the best service and wonderful recommendations! We started with the pork buns and wagyu tartare. The pork buns had great flavor but the tartare was amazing! I enjoyed the bacon fried egg on top more than I thought and the caper shallot relish was a game changer! For entrees we got the PORCINI DUSTED COBIA* (white fish) and WAGYU FLATIRON* (gf) with a side of SIDE OF ZA’ATAR ROASTED BABY CARROTS (gf). The cobia was delightful and light. I recommend making sure you get a bite of the fish, couscous and sauce each time. It blends together perfectly and makes each bite! The wagyu was cooked magnificently and I am always a huge fan for chimichurri! The broccoli and elote were the perfect sides to the plate! The za’atar carrots had the perfect cook and crunch! We obviously had to go with Chelsea’s favorite dessert as well. Ending the night with the CARAMEL APPLE CHEESECAKE. If you don’t try this you are out of your mind! Graham Cracker Crust, Spiced Apples, Dulce de Leche, GUF Mint…. Do I need to say more? Yum! We also took a tiny part of each item to our wonderful pups for an extra special surprise! They were very happy! So much so we had to bring them by for them to meet Chelsea for a hello pet! Thank yall for an amazing night!
Since I touched down in Nebraska I kept seeing ads for this place so I decided to make a visit and boy was it good. Started with the red blend wine and the gather mule which was very refreshing. The service was fast and she even took a few pictures for us the check came in a little book so cute. The place has art work all over the place and really catches your eye. Dimly lit sets quite the mood for any type of night. The Mediterranean plate was absolute fire. All of the parings messed so well really enjoyed the basil pesto, only thing I would add is more naan the portion seemed off. We shared the truffle pasta, which had plenty of mushrooms and gave the dish more depth. The green room downstairs was so cool to see where produce comes from. Overall I would love to check out more of the menu when I’m in town.
Love that they gave me a feedback card for a new item on the menu. It was great but I wish more places did that. Love the farm fresh things from their hydroponic garden downstairs too, amazing. Wish they could make a real espresso martini though... don't go expecting that 😅
From the moment we walked in everyone was incredibly friendly and gracious. We were able to get seated faster than expected after we briefly visited their amazing hydroponic farm in the basement. The food arrived pretty quickly after ordering and the presentation and flavors were wonderful. Our server even gave us a free lemon basil sorbet for our anniversary! The entire design and philosophy behind this farm to table restaurant is fantastic and Omaha should be proud to have Gather downtown.
We ate in and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent, food was excellent and unique offerings. Would absolutely return. We shared Brussel sprouts, I had Wagyu flatiron and my husband had elk bolognese. Finished it off with their special cheesecake of the day to go. It was fun to see the hydroponic garden as well!
Awesome place. Ordered from their fixed price menu and worth every penny. Omaha is a hidden gem for fantastic food and fair prices. Adding this place to my list.
I’ve been here about a half dozen times, but surprisingly I find that it keeps getting better. Despite being open for a while now they seem to keep pushing to improve. Service is always top-notch. Ingredients are creative, and fresh. You have to try a salad with their ingredients coming from the grow room on the lower level, which is always worth a visit. The Cobia Was an interesting dish, but in my opinion had too many ingredients. Probably would not get that again. The elk bolognese was excellent! Red wine base was flavorful and rich and the house made noodles were spot on. The fried chicken is what really blew me away. Sitting on the bed of mac & cheese with the side of hot sauce this was a naughty way to spend my evening! But I don’t regret it. Some of the better fried chicken I have had in town. If you have not tried Gather, then I strongly suggest planning a dinner date.
Gather in Omaha was top notch 👌. An immediate add to my list of fav places to eat and one of the best meals I've ever had. The staff was kind and informative, helping us to decide what we wanted to drink and eat. I would make the 4ish hr trip back to Omaha just to eat there again. I started with the Caliente Wey cocktail which has jalapeño vodka and wasn't too spicy. For dinner I had the Marinated Pork Ribeye with a side of Elote Creamed Corn. It was phenomenal! The best dinner I've ever had. For the table we ordered one of the specials, Steelhead Trout Spread. While I wasn't a fan of the crispy fish skin, the Naan with the spread was fantastic. For desert the 4 of us shared the bread pudding which was maple and cinnamon that night. So good, excellent ice cream with it. And great coffee to finish the meal off. The check came inside of a book which was very creative - It was the perfect ticket!
An excellent place for dinner. The food was great and fantastic wines to choose from. The Brussel sprouts and cranberries were a hit, and the Korean strip and Pork entrees were also well liked. We thought is was a chic place to go. I would recommend the French white burgundy wine - it was crisp and well balanced.
We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Glad we went to Gather. The server was phenomenal. She made outstanding recommendations based on what we liked. We enjoyed the Pork Shank and Bison Steak. We also indulged in their bread pudding dessert. The main dishes were prepared perfectly and flavorful. The sides and sauces enhanced the dishes. The mixed drinks were wonderful too. Highly recommend Gather to everyone. Do expect to spend more than usual but it is worth it. Also take the time to check out their farm in the basement. Very cool to see.
Marvelous and enjoyable dining experience. Food was tasty! Pleasing service! Every thing was fresh. Korean marinated wagyu Steak cooked to perfection! Salient environment. Recommend this place for Cocktails and conversation. Best drink on the menu is the basil smash!
Best happy hour I’ve ever been to-make sure to check out the garden in the basement. It is self-guided. I highly suggest sitting at the bar. The staff knows when to check on you and they know when to leave you alone. It’s a perfect blend. I went both nights. I was in Omaha- I enjoyed it that much.
May 2024: Stopped by for dinner with my colleagues from work. We shared a few starters. My favorites were the pork baos and the brussel sprouts. For my main, I tried the salmon and a side of bone marrow fried rice. It was very tasty 😋. For dessert, we tried bread pudding and donuts. I really enjoyed the bread pudding, which was served with vanilla ice cream 🍦. The donuts came with three sauces. It looked good but was a little doughy. Drink options were good. I had a local hazy IPA beer. Service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back again for more delicious food.
We have been dying to try Gather since they opened. I had very high expectations going in. Those expectations were exceeded. Our server tonight was Sam, they were a lovely human who seemed to be doing a great job training a new hire without being obtrusive to our experience. I started with a basil smash (with whiskey), delightful and refreshing. I am hoping they add a berry mod to that later in the summer, blackberry would be divine. We both had the Gather House salad which was perfectly balanced and the greens (grown downstairs in their incredible hydroponics systems) was tender and perfectly sweet. Props to your hydroponics person, because done incorrectly they can become quite bitter. I would love and involved tour someday. I had the truffle pasta, my husband had the Cobia. While I did not taste his, he was blown away. The sear was perfect, the flavors on point. My pasta set a new standard for me in Omaha. That was the best meal I have had yet in the Greater Omaha area. Mushrooms were tender and happily seasoned. Pasta was cooked to perfection. Runny egg balanced everything out perfectly. I am not familiar with how their menu is done, I do hope to see a seasonal menu change, and look forward to trying new things every time. Using old books for check time is a cute and quirky touch. Keep up the great work Gather.
Gather Omaha was delicious. The service here was really great ! I loved their display of the vertical garden downstairs. I got the truffle pasta which I enjoyed. Their in house grown arugula was a fresh touch added to the dish. I would highly recommend their chocolate mousse torte. This is a great place to meet up with friends over good food! I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time especially on the weekends because it does get busy here.
Absolutely delicious. We were visiting from out of town and picked this restaurant that seemed to have good reviews and it didn’t disappoint. It has a cozy, romantic atmosphere with great service. It wasn’t at all busy during our visit but given how good the food is I’m surprised. I very much enjoyed the flavors of each of the dishes we had. The truffle pasta noodles were on the al dente side just FYI but I loved it. Would definitely return here.
Exceptional! Exquisite! Eclectic! We will return many times to this amazing restaurant in the old market! What they do with different foods/flavors and pull them together in unique dishes made our taste buds dance. Tessa took extra care to explain all their gluten-free options to any dish I was thinking to try. What brought us to try Gather was the appetizer Za'atar roasted carrots, & Loved it! All the flavors came out in each bite! Our cocktails were even better than most places, we order empyrean watchman IPA & Margarita, refreshing. Main dishes were to die for....Porcini Dusted Cobia(not GF) & Pork Shank(a Gather Favorite, adapted GF) all the different degrees of flavor in these dishes were magnificent(meat fell off the bone, so tender)! 😋 Then we HAD to try their desserts, Jackson Donut Holes(not GF) and Chocolate Mousse Torte(GF)! The flavor was outstanding! While waiting for our food, we checked out the Greens garden they have in the basement! Amazing, and they sell them in local stores in the old market! So good and a MUST try! You will want to try Everything! I could go on and on with parts we loved and flavors, but you just have to go yourself and experience their love for creating good foods!
Overall I thought it was a good experience and the service was great. The atmosphere was good because we got a great seat in the corner booth by the window. I don't think the value is quite there when it comes to pricing, however, we did enjoy the food. Elk Bolognese 4.3 The sauce was great, but I wish there were larger chunks of either elk or waygu steak in the dish. It was all ground together and difficult to taste the meat itself. Fried Chicken 4.6 This was the better of the two main dishes. The chicken and noodles were great. It comes with hot sauce that kind of tastes like buffalo, however, it doesn't really have spice. If the sauce had more spice to it, I think this dish would be a 4.9. Mediterranean Burrata Cheese 4.8 This dish was our favorite of everything. The fig jam really makes this dish in my opinion. I would add more fig jam to the base of the plate. Overall, it was a very good appetizer I would get again.
This was my first visit, and I'd sum it up by saying I'm planning on coming back. Right in the Old Market, Gather is a great place to stop in while checking out the area or if you are attending a show nearby. The restaurant itself is a very open concept with a bit of an industrial vibe. The open kitchen and spacious bar make it feel very inviting and the bar is the perfect space to quickly grab a chair, a good drink, and a meal. The drink selection looked great and the cocktail I tried was great. The food menu had a good range of options and was priced well based on what was served. For two dining, a small plate and large plate are plenty to share. I wasn't able to try the desserts, next time. Staff and service were excellent!
Sam was an excellent server…very attentive! Food was very good. My only suggestion is that the french fries were a bit on the soggy/oily side…would love them a bit crunchier. :)
My favorite restaurant! The food, atmosphere, and service are outstanding! I love the experiences I have with the fresh, exciting, and flavorful foods at gather. So much flavor with each bite. Different combinations and flavors can be experienced with several of the entrees with the different sauces and spices on each plate. Also a lot of fun to see the hydroponic farm in the basement growing some of the fresh ingredients used! I visit often and highly recommend!
Came down from Harlan, Iowa to visit my favorite bartender Peyton. Who once again gave me great service and awesome experience. I love the pork buns and my pork ribeye NEVER fails me. Thanks again Peyton !!!!
We went on New Years Eve which had a set menu for the night. $89 each plus cocktails which were great. The "just ok" were the salad was tastelesd and olive oil cake dry-don't get. The tomato soup was killer! My steak melt in your mouth/ bone in pork chop was large and very tasty. My chocolate mouse desert delish. Atmosphere on point!!
Everything was good and filling. Service was okay. We went here for my birthday and ordered the bao bun appetizer and it was delicious. Our entrees were pretty good too. The only thing that was weird is the server spoke to my friend more than me. To where my friend would have to redirect her to ask me questions. The server also didn’t really look in my direction, so that’s why I’m not giving this place 5 stars.
Our food was amazing. The short rib was fabulous over the potatoes & the carrots were perfectly cooked. Only a 4 on service due to our waiter forgetting an appetizer we ordered & a drink, but it happens! 🤍
A bit over priced for what you get. Its *almost* 5 stars, but not quite. Service was a but slow ( this was on June 16th with a party of 8 btw) some food had to be sent back. The Charcuterie board was only okay as it did not have a lot of STUFF but little dolops of like mustard seed etc. Underground hydroponics was cool
Great ambience. Cocktails were amazing (at least the old fashioned). The restaurant has its own garden in the basement. This is a nice attraction. They grow there all sorts of things that then they use in their kitchen. Food was good. I found my burger a bit salty, though. The Brussels spouts were super well done and tasty. Definitely recommend to check it out.
UPDATE: We gave it another try and this time it was amazing, better service! And the food is still very good quality. The brussels are the best I ever had! The food was outstanding and loved the Bone Marrow fried rice. Burgers were yummy as well, but it's a burger. ;) the only complaint is even though the kids menu states Broccolini & carrots as a side option (we ordered it, but they also brought fries for some reason). they charged us $5 EACH. We pointed it out on the menu and he still said it was NOT included. So, $10 for sides that should have been included. If anything, charge us for the fries (which were probably cheaper), even though we did NOT order them. Fries were tasty though!! And they don't give ANYTHING for a birthday, even though I mentioned it once or twice. 😉
The vibe and atmosphere was excellent. The food was tasty but it didn’t blow our socks off if you know what I mean. I really liked the mushroom & Brie toast. My boyfriend enjoyed the Elk Bolognese, but the noodles were a little bit too al dente for my liking. Solid date night restaurant I like the concept
Hydroponic greenhouse in the basement! Really clever flavor profiles on all 3 dishes we tried. Mussels and udon noodles so good I drank the broth. Then basil lemon sorbet--creamy and perfectly balanced flavors!
We took our teenage and college-aged kids to dinner over Christmas break and noticed the menu has changed. For those needing celiac-friendly options, the choices were not plentiful and actually quite limited. At our table we ordered fish, a hamburger, brisket, French fries as an appetizer, and a noodle bowl. The brisket stood out as the best dish of the evening by far—tender, flavorful, and well executed. The other items were fine but not especially memorable. Overall, the prices did not feel in line with the experience or with comparable restaurants in the area. While there were some highlights, particularly the brisket, the value and limited celiac options left us a bit disappointed this visit. I wanted to write a review because we chose this place for the reviews on gluten-free options and price point. This restaurant is a great date night or friend's dinner restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere.
I wish I had been more impressed but there were just too many things that didn't come up to my expectations. The drink I ordered came with ice when I asked for no ice. The glass was changed to a flute and it was transfered from the other glass. It was sticky on the outside of the glass. An hour later when I ordered the 2nd drink and gave up the 1st glass, not only was the drink not even up to the level of the 1st glass, but the outside of the glass was sticky again, was it the same glass? Or did either the bartender or the wait staff have sticky fingers? Unpleasant. One of the things we ordered was the charcuterie board. It had a pile of HOT peppers. I thought they were roasted. I had some on something, I don't even remember because I almost blacked out and had a major choke attack! No warning, no labeling. Unpleasant. The rest of the meal was tolerable under the other conditions. ... The GF chocolate torte (mousse) was beyond incredible! The saving grace. We did get to view the hydroponic gardens in the basement. Fun idea! Good job.
Food was okay. I was so excited to try their pork bao/buns when I saw it on their menu, it was a little chewy and hard to chew tbh. The service was okay, kinda took longer for bartender to ask what we want for drinks and food took a while to serve.. to the point I didn’t even finish my noodles and just left.
I want to give more stars and I will come back and try again to give a better rating as I love the concept. Should have looked online as I came for beet salad but it was no longer on the menu. Ordered the PANZANELLA salad with waygu flatiron steak. Eh. It says Toasted House Made Focaccia which I guess is just croutons? I didn’t see any Basil or Parsley. Steak was about a 3oz portion medium well done not as ordered. PEACH SEVYN-FIVE cocktail can barely taste the peach way too much lemon. Still overall pretty tasty and good vibes just not as advertised.
We went to Gather for my son's birthday. The food was good. The server was inattentive. There was a gentleman that brought out my son's margarita and checked on us when we had finished that was wonderful. The person who brought out the tartar was lovely. My kids grew up in kitchens, their father was a chef. We lost our excitement about the place I think because the server did not seem excited. We were solely there for the food and to see their garden. The garden was beautiful! When we received the check the server even took a long time to bring out the card scanner. They then left it at the table for me to complete the purchase and walked off. This may be standard. It just is not an experience I have had before and seemed in line with the lack of interest they had in attending to our table. We likely will not go back.
I was looking forward to spending our anniversary dinner at Gather, as we had heard really good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food and service were not as expected. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted cobia and my husband ordered the elk bolognese. Our server said the cobia was a hit at their restaurant in Maui. It was by far the worst fish I’ve ever had. The fish was chewy, dry, and arrived cold and under flavored. The two fillets on the plate were different sizes and breaded differently. The whipped sweet potato’s and fruit salad didn’t seem to go with the fish at all. My husband and I ended up switching meals since I couldn’t eat mine. My husband said I cook better than that, and that isn’t saying much! I’ve never sent a meal back before at a restaurant and we would have but we hardly saw our waitress and the meal itself was very expensive so we felt obligated to eat as much as we could. The elk bolognese was better than the fish but subpar compared to other nice restaurants we’ve been to. My husband and I went to the bathroom and both noticed how much food was sitting on the counter of the line waiting to go out. Clearly they didn’t have a very efficient night to get food out before it was sitting there for a long time. Also, we ordered drinks a substantial amount of time before we ordered our food and we didn’t get our drinks until we were almost done with our meal. We were never offered refills since the drinks came so late. Our waitress seemed to be behind the bar most of the night from what we could tell. We were very underwhelmed especially with how much it cost to go there for a special night out. The restaurant itself was really nice inside but lacked service and quality food. Very disappointed.
