Has a friendly environment. Good choices are great, service is amazing everyone is friendly the owner walks around to accommodate. Hand made tortillas with authentic Mexican food. Weekends are buffet times 11am-6pm
I saw this on TikTok, came from PA to try it out. 100% did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing Mexican spot to eat at. Everyone is extremely friendly and the overall atmosphere made us feel like a family. Yes, it was about a 15 minute wait in line and obviously it’s hard to find parking like any other place in NYC. Our gratitude charge was not $30. Hand made tortillas, cecina, pozole, picaditas, flautas, fruits w chamoy, chicharrón, and SO much more! If you’re ever at a Mexican restaurant and indifferent about what you want to get because you want “a little bit of this” and “a little bit of that”, La Onda is the spot for you! ❤️🙏
All these negative reviews from people who don’t understand authentic latino food and culture. Roosevelt avenue is NOT car friendly (as a driver myself). Find parking somewhere else and take the MTA here. The music is bustling and feels like a real family gathering. If you’re not comfortable feeling like you’re from an immigrant latino family then this probably isn’t going to be a fun experience for you.
Lovely restaurant with the most welcoming staff, especially the owner Paco. Wishing them success from Flushing! I'll be back for more cafe de olla ☕
Mexican buffet, great price all you can eat, I went last week Sunday and the lines were not long I went around 10:50, waited a little bit. They open at 11. I wish there was more food variety but cannot complain for the price. The drinks are not included. The tax and tips will be automatically applied to the bill. Staff are friendly, nice and attentive.
Yes when something becomes famous people tend to crowd and lines become a thing. The food was good obviously you go for what you prefer and I preferred the Costillas en Salsa verde, the pasta, the fried shrimp, the salchi papas, tacos dorados, the hand made tortillas and two types of caldo. The items I had were great the only issue I had was the line to get in. The wait time is approximately one hour. The service was in my point of view excellent the waitress was bringing us drinks (which aren’t included), and kept up with asking us if everything was ok. There’s a one child under 8 per family or table special. Street parking is VERY Limited. It took approximately 30 to find parking the surrounding area is very busy.

I was recommended by TikTok. But the place was ok. Ambience is okay. Decor can be 10x better. I walked in and expected to hear Mexican music but they were playing reggeaton Music from 2010. Food was okay. There was Guisados such as mole, pipian, salsa de puerco, 5 different kind of soups, fried shrimp, chicken tenders/nuggets/fries. It didn’t taste good coming from a Mexican I had tacos de papa and it had no potato in it what so ever. I was expecting to see a taco bar, quesadillas, guac and chips, tamales etc. I did enjoy the aguas Frescas. I had agua de Melon and horchata. The only part I enjoyed was the dessert (fruit, jello, and churros). Lastly it is a really tuff place to look for parking in case you’re driving. This place is ok but definitely has potential.

Paco (the owner) is friendly and has great customer service! Food was okay, could have had more meat options (when we went, lots of the meats were not refilled). Keep in mind tax and 20% tip is automatically included. Drinks are not included (horchata $7). The buffet came to $25 a person after tax, tip, and beverages

Food choices are not that great. There can be long wait times. Place can get crowded. Decorations and ambiance can definitely relate to a typical day in Mexico. Customer service was great. Extremely hard place to find parking. Like every one else complains, they add an additional $30 service charge. Definitely not worth the wait.

1. Found a hair in the rice. 2. Added a service charge of $16 when it is a buffet style restaurant???? 3. Overcrowded and very few selections. Not worth the hype on tiktok and the 1 hour wait. Not to mention the place is TINY and the tortillas could be touched by any hands, no utensils to grab them with. 4. Does not accept card but offers a zelle option.
The service was very slow when I came in. It took 20 minutes after I was seated for a waitress to take my order. After 40 minutes I was able to eat. I ordered a can of coke that was handed to me dirty, it looked like spilled food on it. The food was good, however they are not transparent about their pricing. They claim its $15.95 per person but it is more like $30 after the gratuity charges. I asked the waitress who kept saying "I don't know if the price includes tip", which it does. It is not disclosed until afterwards so I ended up tipping $25 on a $65 order. Which for such terrible service I wouldn't have tipped so much.
Drove an hour to this place due to the “hype” on Tik Tok. Very hard to find parking too. Got to the line @ 3:20PM didn’t get to sit down until 4:10PM. Mind you we went on a Sunday for the buffet. The AD states the price which is $15.95. However, drinks are not included. There is a service fee already charged. Customer service is good. Very attentive and kept asking if we needed anything or if we were okay. Food part: I’m not Mexican but I came with Mexican friends to get their reviews. According to them food could’ve been better. The jello didn’t have any flavor, churros was great, taquitos were ok. There was different protein options like steak, shrimp, nuggets, chicken tenders. The environment… seating is extremely tight. It gets overcrowded when going to get your food. People bumping into you and don’t even say “excuse me or I’m sorry”. Overall experience… I won’t come back to the place.

I came here because of the TikTok videos hoping it was gonna be a good place. However the food quality was okay I mean with the price I think is alright, however it doesn’t seem so fresh. The atmosphere was bad they have music blasting as if it was a party.
This place is so stupid. So we were two people and i order chicken tacos and pozole’s. The chicken and pozole’s looks like they kept it for days anyways we told them right away we don’t like the food so the girl was okayy and bring us bills with everything we ordered yes they charged us for sitting there. I recommend this place to noone not even to homeless people there food is worse than any restaurant 🙏🏻 don’t go there. Be wasting time and money.
I waited over Halle an hour outside in the freezing cold !!!!!! They were nice enough ti give us coffee but the food and the atmosphere was very UNSANITARY! Gratitud is included which makes no sense because why are ya charging $20 of top our ya own will… when it’s BUFFET STYLE ! It wasn’t actually a server being us the food … I don’t like how they had someone singing with a small speaker and having kids sell their candy … what in the 3rd world country was going on . They use paper plate I felt like I was in a Mexican party paying for my food when I’m better off getting invited to a Mexican party the food DID NOT EVEN HAVE MEAT OPTION AND THEY ONLY HAD PORK !!!! The cheapest thing there HORRIBLE I CAME TO QUEENS FOR THAT LIKE I PAID A TOLL TO BE DISSAPOINTED
Came in a large group of 13 .apon arrival I just didn't find the food appetizing, so I didn't eat. I just ordered a soda . They still charged me full price and the soda for just sitting 😐
Barley any food variety, its just seafood and carbs. Atleast the music is good
I came to this place with my family (who i should mention rarely ever complains about food at restaurants), due to the hype about it on TikTok. Despite seeing some bad reviews on this place I still decided to give this place a try. I should’ve listened to the reviews. This place was empty around 5pm on Saturday when I went. The place didn’t look nice whatsoever, and most importantly there was no AC and only fans for such a small place, so it was extremely hot in there. The service was also terrible, with the staff giving attitude for anything we asked, and gave us the wrong things. The food looked like it was sitting there for a while and had no flavor whatsoever. There was also no variety of food for it being a buffet. The drinks (aguas frescas) had no flavor either and tasted mainly like sugar (not to mention the drinks aren’t included and cost $7).In addition, the food gave me a stomach ache and was probably some of the lowest quality and worst tasting I’ve ever had. Growing up Mexican and always around mexican food and trying out different Mexican restaurants all throughout NYC this has to be one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.
