American Bar Opera Reviews
Hot dog Cocktail classici fatti old style!!
Cocktail eccelsi. Da visitare assolutamente.
Locale stupendo Prezzi come quelli milanesi ( drink 16 € ) Al piano inferiore fanno piano bar
Locale storico, in stile pub inglese. Vasta scelta di cocktails, e di ottima qualità. Personale molto elegante e cordiale. Prezzi moderati !
Super consigliato.
Bar storico, location suggestiva. Un viaggio nella storia francesce!
Ottimo locale americano a Parigi drink ottimi molto gradevole senza musica
Bar stupendo e accogliente! Bloody Mary buonissimo!
In pezzo di storia americana in piena Parigi. Da non perdere il Bloody Mary !!!
Mitico bar , ottimi drink, luogo incantevole
If you enjoy cocktails and you’re in Paris, make sure you try Harry’s Bar. I guess I was quite lucky to get in right away without a reservation (maybe because I was alone, so they prioritized me). This stop on my cocktail-hunting journey was really interesting. The bartender took great care of me and even arranged a good seat at the bar (a slim guy with blonde, slightly curly hair). He was very friendly, gave me recommendations, and chatted with me, so even though I came alone, I never felt lonely. As for the drinks—there’s nothing to complain about. This place is in the world’s top 50 best cocktail bars, and I don’t think that’s by accident. I tried two cocktails, and the “French” really impressed me. The bar has a cozy atmosphere, though it’s missing a bit of soft background music—there’s only the sound of conversations and the shaking of the bartender’s tools. Perhaps that’s part of the bar’s charm. If I have the chance to return to Paris, this will definitely be a place I come back to.
An unforgettable experience at the legendary Harry's Bar! We were served by Lawrence, whose good humor, friendliness, and hospitality made the visit even more special. The drinks are truly exceptional, masterfully prepared and perfect in every detail. The atmosphere is elegant, welcoming, and full of history: it's incredible to think that figures like Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Coco Chanel frequented this same place. Although the prices are a bit high, it's worth every penny for the unique atmosphere and the feeling of being in a true Parisian icon. A classic not to be missed!
What a good feeling to enter historic bars like this one! We had the chance to go downstairs and listen to a live jazz performance that elevated our whole experience. Drinks are amazing and the price is understandable for Paris standards. Staff was absolutely welcoming and smiley all night. Will visit again for sure.
You’d be hard pressed to find a better cocktail bar anywhere in Paris or beyond. The knowledge and engagement of the staff and the care with which they make the drinks makes this a very special place for a few drinks. The vibe is lively without being boisterous - very adult without being uptight about it. Well worth the wait and the price point. Arrive early to secure a table.
Atmosphere: 9.5/10 Located in Paris’s 2nd arrondissement, between Opéra and rue de la Paix, Harry’s Bar sits in a prime historic district near the city’s grand boulevards. The space exudes nostalgia — wood-paneled walls, classic counter seating, vintage décor, and that unmistakable early-1900s charm. The impressive backbar tells its century-old story. No background music upstairs, staying true to its heritage feel. Live piano plays only in the basement on Wednesdays to Saturdays. Drinks: 8/10 Recommendation: Any of their classic inventions — Bloody Mary, Sidecar, French 75, or Boulevardier. The paper menu is simple and old-school, focusing on the house’s historic cocktails. Drinks are flavorful and well-balanced within that traditional framework. Presentation remains basic — below-average glassware, no garnish, and minimal ice work — but the recipes’ legacy makes up for it. Service: 7/10 Water served on arrival. Team is friendly and professional but could be more attentive. They don’t take reservation but prepare to wait during peak hours. And if it rains outside - you’re out of luck, because the waiting space is very limited and there is no roof outside. Prices are average for Paris
First time here but it was worth the Metro run from the 12th to the 2nd. No food to speak of other than a hot dog. We just had cocktails and they were great! Had the special of the month James Bond 1962 which was wonderful. Then the wife had a French 75 which was superb. I had a cocktail created created by one of the bar mixologists for La Negroni week called the Place Stanislas. It was absolutely amazing! I've had many different cocktails, classics and tiki and others. I'm a decent mixologists myself at home. I told my server this was the best cocktail I'd ever had and asked if I could get the recipe please. He was pleased, excited and said the young man who created it was here tonight. So he came over shook my hand and we chatted briefly. I asked him for the recipe and he said oui. Then he brought over a September 2025 edition of Barmag magazine with the recipe published in it and said I have it. A very nice touch. Some others have said it's over priced here, but I couldn't disagree more. The quality and creativity of the cocktails is well worth it. I've been in Las Vegas and paid a lot more for a lot less. Come and see for yourself, highly recommend.
An absolute iconic place where so much history (both literary and culinary) was made. A college clubhouse like interior makes any American feel right at home. The drinks speak for themselves and are STRONG. The only criticism I have is the famous hot dogs are not to my liking…but that’s just me. Be sure to check out the downstairs area if possible!
Another Paris icon worth the hype. My fiancé and I came here after our engagement and the bartenders took great care of us. The other pub goers are friendly. No music in the bar is a great touch - really helps breed conversation with the other patrons. Great American bourbons to select from! Definitely a must visit in Paris.
I would definitely give it more than 5 stars if it had. The feeling is indescribable when you enter this beautiful bar. The feeling as if you entered a bar a hundred years ago. Excellent decorations, excellent quality of drinks, excellent staff attitude. Definitely, if someone asks me for the address of a good bar in Paris, this is the first place. If I come to Paris again, I will definitely visit here. It is recommended
Locale storico a Parigi in stile pub Inglese.
Prezzi medio alti come previsto.
I'll start by saying I'm a cocktail bartender, and Harry's Bar has been on my bucket list for years. If this wasn't the founding bar for cocktails, this place probably wouldn't be continuing the way it is. As a bar , it's okay. Service is good and they serve standard cocktails. The price is extortionate for what it is unfortunately with lacking in love to the basic cocktails. The cocktails I tried were unbalanced, shaken without love and overall was very disappointed amongst all the great cocktail bars there are around the world. Overall, disappointed. I'm sure it was at its peak during 1911 , but now..it's just more of a tourist trap and an average experience.
Very strange etiquette. Interesting place to visit, I like the interior as it has a lot of character. The hosts were great but bar staff and servers have an odd decorum, cocktails took a fair while to arrive as well. Their customer service overall was not the best, I got blocked on social media asking for a lost item.. very odd. Not sure of the vibe they are going to perceive but sadly which ever it is, it is not a welcoming one.
Not my kind of cocktail bar. Very likely a victim of its own success, so no longer has to try. I totally understand other reviewers' disappointment with this place. Being a keen home mixologist, I tried the Bloody Mary of course. Most boring Bloody Mary I've had in my life. No garnish at all, none whatsoever! I also had a Sidecar. Difficult to get wrong, so it was OK, but nothing to write home about. Had to ask for water. Sitting at the bar was a stressful experience. Very chaotic. Probably understaffed. Loud. Never again. Don't bother. There are a handful of really good cocktail bars in Paris, modern bars than value great customer service and don't bank everything on their historic appeal. Try those instead: Bar Nouveau, Abstract Bistro, Little Red Door, Danico, Le Syndicat and Dirty Dick for Tiki heaven.
The service aspires to be terrible some day. It's probably cool if you are native French speaker. The staff treats you poorly, intentionally ignores you, and clearly serves native speakers first. Our waitress entirely would ignore us, and serve others before us. It took so long to order a 2nd drink, we went right to the bar, and that guy ignored us. Then he was pretended like he didn't understand what we were ordering. He asked us to sit back down, only so we could see our drinks at the bar, and not be delivered. How nice. The atmosphere outside the staff is cool, but I can't imagine why you'd go here on purpose. The 2 drinks we managed to get were pretty good, not great.
