The garlic knots are DELICIOUS!! The salmon was and gnocchi were good too but the powerbowl was truly the star of this cafeteria! So flavorful and filling, would highly recommend. Service is slow but very friendly. The green juice is delicious
After a long day the airport, my husband and I were looking forward to dinner once getting to Surfside. After putting our order, we were told that they were out of what we ordered, but Julynn was SO amazing about it! She truly made us feel so cared about and like she had known us forever and wanted to make sure our stay was the best it could be. The food has been wonderland and my husband (who is VERY particular about food) said it was the best French dip he has ever had.
Just came back from our 2nd stay at Surfside and I laugh when I read that prices are high, I actually found the prices for a "resort" to be pretty good. Fresh made scramble eggs breakfast bowl with your choice of ingredients and a side of steak fries for $9 and it tasted very good. I also liked the croissant sandwiches, they were good, also $9. For lunch and dinner, we had the kids mac & Cheese a couple of times, that was very good and you got a big bowl of it for only $5. Hamburgers were also pretty good for a resort burger and I always asked for a fresh one and never was told no. We think their Deli sandwiches are a waste of $ for the meat portion size and the chicken was dry the one time we had it. I will also say that our daughters loved their pizza and a kids pizza is enough for an adult. Another positive were their quesadillas, the only bad part was that they do not have sour cream. And the majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel eatery, which proved to be both convenient, fairly priced and quite good. Our family ordered a pepperoni pizza, shrimp pesto pasta, snapper burger with fries and steak quesadilla. The servings were generous and some of us have snacks on our plane ride home tomorrow. The fountain sodas were fun for the kids with multiple flavor options, and had we visited sooner in our trip, we would have purchased the refillable “endless drinks” cups. Grab and go options looked really good and they also have beer and wine. I suspect they have made significant changes since some of the older reviews, because I can be a critical diner and left with no complaints.
For a resort hotel cafe, I have been very impressed by this place! It is so convenient to have this type of restaurant in the hotel whether you want to grab something and head out to the parks or if you have time to sit inside and have a meal. There is plenty of seating. The staff is so friendly and we appreciated that they took allergy/dietary restrictions very seriously. The pizza is delicious! Definitely a must try and it’s made to order so it’s always fresh and hot. I thought the prices were pretty inexpensive. I got a breakfast combo that came with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and a biscuit for $11. And it was pretty good and very filling! I didn’t need to eat again until much later in the day. It’s not fancy at all but it’s a great spot to grab a meal or some snacks before starting your day.
Although small the Beach Break Cafe at Endless Summer Surfside punches above its weight. If you are staying on property this is a great place to grab a quick bite. During my six day stay I always found something good to eat. They have everything from pasta, burgers, pizzas (my particular favorite!), sandwiches, fried chicken, you name it they can probably make it. The chefs are friendly and every dish is cooked fresh to order. They also have a Coke Freestyle machine with refillable cups and a grab and go section. There are plenty of tables to eat at and they open late until 11 PM if you happen to have the evening munchies. The prices are relatively cheap for a theme park hotel with most meals being around $10 and the most expensive thing is $15 for a big pizza that you can definitely share. I highly recommend this cafe if you are staying at Surfside.
Great place to eat after the long drive/flight. We arrived Sunday at 6pm and were served promptly. It’s not a sit and order place. A few options, great taste, plenty of space, nice people. Super convenient. We are not sure why others give poor reviews.
I was starving when I got this. I wanted a breakfast bowl but there was no one behind the counter so I went to the all American section and got one of their longboards. I can’t remember which one but it’s basically bacon egg and cheese with gravy base. And I got potato wedges. No complaints at all with any of this. I also grabbed a banana and a ham and cheese croissant. All of which was under $23.
Average cafeteria food. A little on the pricey side but it’s a resort hotel to be expected. The pizza was good. And our breakfast items were hot and tasted fresh.
Our 1st time at Universal Studios Surfside Inn and Suites and purchasing from the Beach Break Cafe in Surfside. Will probably never eat here again due to the disappointing food quality. Would rather just walk over to IHOP and get fresh prepared food, especially for breakfast. Waffle at Beach Break Cafe was not cooked long enough and was too pale which caused it to be rubbery with no crunch or texture at all. The packaged strawberry cupcake was spit out after one bite. No strawberry flavor at all, texture airy, and the frosting was whipped cream which was not labeled on the package. Very unappetizing when you're expecting buttercream frosting. Packaged salad had a bitter taste and had to pull out various pieces of dark, shriveled lettuce. Bananas were fresh, bacon was delicious, and croissant with chocolate filling was good but not enough chocolate. The Staff were Amazing! So friendly and caring. The Cafe has a lot of potential with very positive staff, if only the food quality could be improved.
We attempted to give Beach Break Cafe a try recently, and while our expectations for quick service at Universal are pretty low, this jammed the bar down even further. The positives and why this isn’t 0 stars is that it does have a nice new seating area. We came after their peak dinner rush but well before they closed and were told they were out of every item we were interested in. They did have pre made (really bad looking) burgers and a few other sandwiches and some of the worst looking pizza I have ever seen - picture is attached. Service was also really rough with no interest in helping anyone walking up - they seemed excited to be out of things and not have to do work. We had wondered why so many families had been bringing food back from Citywalk - now we know why!
After waiting for our friend to get his food we were finally asked our order but since it had now reached 11:25 they were no longer serving breakfast. Fine I get it but there was no lunch menu no displays of lunch items and when I asked they wouldn't tell me anything. Then the cashier was on her phone and not so poiletly told us to go around. If she wasn't looking down on her phone we wouldn't of been on the wrong side. Very disappointed in the service here and for a bigger tourist hotel. I'd expect this from a comfort inn
If I could give 0 stars I would. Pizza tastes like cardboard and looked like it as well. Ordered childrens tenders and fries as well. There was soo much salt it made me sick to my stomach. Order pizza from other places. Would not reccomend to anyone staying at the hotel. We gave it a try for convenience and to use up our dining credit. Go somewhere else!
Food is terrible. Salty overcooked garbage. Do better for such an expensive price. Nice atmosphere with the surfing theme. Service was good but minimal as you basically help yourself when they give your food to you at the counter.
This cafe needs some real management. Noon and only “one “ employee working in the kitchen. Waited and waited with no one taking orders. Multiple people leaving. Basically forcing everyone to cross a busy street to the extremely well managed Dockside restaurant. I do not recommend staying at Surfside if you are planning to dine inside the hotel.
The prices are outrageous--but OK, I'm at a resort hotel and I expect the prices to be that way. What I didn't expect for my $16 breakfast combo were cold eggs and tasteless home fries. (The sausage, bacon, and biscuit were adequate, but overall: 1 star.) Perhaps lunch or dinner are not as hideously poor, but I doubt it. Do yourself a favor and have breakfast at the Waffle House and dinner at either KFC or, if you want to shell out more money for higher quality, Black Angus Steak House. All of these are walking distance from the hotel.
The food is mediocre and the staff are terrible. They stand around chatting purposely avoiding the area where you are meant to place your order so they don't feel responsible for helping you. I ordered a country breakfast and the guy had a bad attitude and put a bunch of the wrong food on my plate. It's just a group of lazy people with bad attitudes that don't want to do their jobs. It's a shame because the service in the rest of the hotel is wonderful, but the Cafe is terrible.
