Press Box Oswego Reviews
Really friendly family run sports bar/pub. I enjoy knowing I can go there for a reliable meal and good service. The wings are must, I prefer buffalo but the plain are just as good. Very reasonably priced drinks and food. Would recommend this place to anyone travelling and staying across the street, always people to talk to and the bar staff make you feel like a regular(in a good way). Check it out!
We went here on the suggestion of a fellow teammate. We were quite happy with the choice. A great menu and beer selection matched the service that we got from the staff. The food was phenomenal both in taste and appearance. Lots of TVs available for watching any sport. The press box is a place worth visiting.
We stopped in to this awesome establishment on a referral from my buddy Mark. We were seated immediately and received our spinach dip within 15 minutes and our dinner shortly after!! Food was amazing and Abby was outstanding servicing us!!! I would hire ten of her!!
We went for dinner with a group of 12 people and were taken care of quickly and the food was delicious. So we went back the next night and had the same waitress who was very polite and attentive and once again delicious food and the atmosphere is very chill.
Wonderful experience. Great home made soup and a nice twist on their chicken wings. Stella cider on tap, was cool. But the best part was the well trained staff that made the whole experience superb. Check it out.
Good price big burger my dog loved his.. friendly quick Def recommend..
I enjoyed my dinner here, friendly staff and great prices...Definitely will visit again.
This place has great food, but they are known for their burgers. The inside of the restaurant is small, so keep that in mind. I can't wait to go when the outside pato is open.
My favorite appetizer is the pulled pork nachos, and my favorite entree is the buffalo chicken wrap! Both SO good!!
Absolutely an amazing first time experience! Waitresses were super friendly and welcoming, food was delicious and I highly recommend going here if you haven't! The Strawberry daiquiri's are amazing as well!
Nice vibe. Good food. Good service. 100% satisfied!!
Although it's a sports bar the food was incredible. I had an open steak that was juicy, perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious! My fiancee had a steak wrap and salad and said it was amazing. We both ate,had cocktails and a tip and it was under $60!!! I'll be going back!!!
Very good food and service. I really liked the atmosphere. Try the Press Box Burger !!! Went back in September 2022, had some really great chicken wings and a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top & a side of fries. The food was really good and the service was very good as well. There were a lot of people there at 6:15 pm on a Saturday night, but the staff handled it well. I really enjoyed my food and so did my daughter. It was a very good mix of customers there were younger people there and some older people. I think everybody had a nice time and everybody was very friendly. If I hadn't been out in the sun all day mowing, I would have sat outside at the outdoor tables. The atmosphere inside was very good, just a little bit loud for an old timer like me,LOL.
5 stars all the way!!! Highly recommend!! Great service and great food. They go out of their way to treat you well! Really great people. Shout out to Nicole for taking pictures of the table I had my first date with my girlfriend after asking via a phone call to the restaurant, and for texting me the pictures for our anniversary!
Always a pleasure to visit. Friendly staff, outdoor dining area is nice, food is fun, their spin dip, is yummy!
The Press Box is an awesome place to eat. The service is very fast, even with a full house. The last two waitresses we had were very pleasant as well. The food is delicious, regular "pub" fare, but tasty nonetheless. My husband and I never fail to get the Press Box Nachos which are so good! The burgers are very large, perfectly cooked as well. I got sweet potato fries with my meal and they were delicious, but a bit of a small serving. The only other downside is if you are not a sports fan, it can get a bit loud in there from people enjoying the games on the TVs. That shouldn't stop you from going there though! Pricing is great too.
We had a good time and really enjoyed our dinner. The burgers were very good as were the onion rings and crosscut fries. The service at the bar was top notch. They were very attentive to us and we never waited for anything. We will definitely be back.
I had a mushroom burger and my uncle had fish. Both were very good. The outdoor seating area was comfortable. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go there again.
Very cozy and unique bar. Great food and service. Loved the multiple fireplaces and decor.
With ample outside seating on a pleasant covered front porch and a cordial wait staff, we thoroughly enjoyed a delicious lunch served by Angela, among the top two servers I've personally ever experienced. Her personality was equally matched by her attentiveness to our order and our satisfaction with every one of our group's menu choices. She obviously loves her work and could not be more capable at it. A truly five star experience.
First time visiting but definitely not the last! Everything about this wonderful place is so nice. The burger I ordered was fresh and perfect! The waitress was simply personable, friendly, and attentive. Will be visiting again as soon and as often as possible. 👍🏾😋❤️
Food was good and the staff was awesome. They got the kids extra crayons and even brought their food out first to help keep them occupied. Will go there again when we go back to the water park.
Had spinich artichoke dip appetizer, it was excellent, great flavor excellent pita bread. For lunch, I had the bacon cheeseburger quesadilla. It was delicious. We sat outside on the porch. It was beautiful
This has been the top Restaurant in the 71 years I have been alive. It is family owned and operated and it exceeds all the expectations that a grown man or woman could ever imagine. The menu and all that is on it is 5 STAR .Great selection of draft beers and awesome supply of bottled beer. If you are a sports fanatic, they will have mostly the sport that is in season but you can request a change if you like. Management is Superb. I love it and all the help is AWESOME!!!
For all the years this restaurant has been open, we have visited the establishment many many times, always great food and a wonderful staff. Spotless
I always have a good visit any time I go. The most recent was exceptional. The server was amazing. She was on top of everything. We were a table of 14 and it didn't faze her a bit. I am truly grateful for the outstanding service.
Good food, good drinks, great service. Would recommend.
We came for date night during a wind storm. Before we got our food the power went out (on that whole side of the city) The staff was very quick to talk to our table and the others to see if we would like to wait and see if it went back on or if we wanted to leave.. they didn’t kick us out. We chose to stay, they could still serve drinks. They have a fireplace and it was actually kinda cozy. Waitress brought some popcorn and I asked for celery with blue cheese too. After about 30 minutes the power was restored. We received our food quickly and it was delicious. Will recommend to all our friends. Staff is great, food is great, atmosphere is great.
Walked across from our hotel and ordered take out to bring back and eat. Food was excellent. I had the Buffalo chicken nachos which were very spicy but were excellent none the less. The restaurant was very very busy but they managed to speak to us right away and take our order and our order was ready promptly and cooked to perfection. Staff was very friendly and helpful and on top performance despite their business. Would recommend for sure and will definitely eat there again. Might try eat in next time. 😋
We ate here Saturday night, and it was very good. The service went over and beyond, and the food was served quickly. I rated the atmosphere 3 stars because it was crowded and loud. There were no quiet areas for diners who would want to converse without shouting. Considering how packed it was, the food didn't take long to be brought to us, and our waitress was attentive and very friendly.
What a great spot to enjoy a beer ( or more), one of their huge pub style burgers and catch a game. Draft beer selections from nearby breweries. Allie the owner is very personable. Hadley did a wonderful job making sure everything was perfect for our visit. If I lived here, I'd be a frequent visitor.
Every year we go to the Press Box and we love eating there atmospheres great food is great it could be hectic in there and the Services awesome hear it but this will be our last time going there because my nephew is graduating from Oswego thank you for amazing food every year we go we will miss you
A hybrid restaurant that's cozy and doubles as a sports bar. There is seating upstairs, a fireplace and plenty of TV's for every angle. Sports memorabilia adorns the walls to round out the decor. The food selection isn't typical of a 'sports bar', although their burger selection is very good. They provide deliciously salty popcorn to snack on while you wait! They have gluten-free menus available. This restaurant does NOT have free WiFi.
This was our first visit and we were not disappointed!! The pulled pork nachos were delicious! And they layered the cheese and pulled pork with the chips so every chip had something yummy on it. The Flatbread pizza was very good too. The staff was extremely friendly, our waitress Lia was so sweet, and the service was fast. The lemon dessert was the ultimate cherry on the top of an already great experience. 👍
We were in town for a hockey tournament. We called ahead to make sure they could accommodate our team and families. We gathered everyone's orders ahead of time, handed the staff a paper with the orders, and enjoyed our time. The food was out very quickly and well organized. The bills were correct for each family. The owner was present and checked in on us. The wait staff was very friendly and did an excellent job with our large party (~40). We will certainly visit again!
Very accommodating for a last minute large group! Service was great and so was the food!
Had a wonderful experience at The Press Box. I got the sudden death chilli, and where it was not as spicy as I was expecting it to be, it had amazing flavor, the balance between heat and flavor was perfect. I also got the burger if the day witch was a burger with garlic aioli goat's cheese( I had subbed for swiss) sauteed onions and spinach, it was amazing. 10 out of 10 deffinatly going back for more!
Good food, good service and surprisingly low prices . My only complain - they don't let you bring dog on the outdoor patio.
It was a busy night, but we got a table pretty quickly. The burgers were delicious, fresh meat..like if I made it at home.
i got a chicken fajita wrap with chips not sure if i could of gotten fries, no one told me i did and order over the phone . but the chicken fajita wrap was delish. i also got the pulled pork nachos also delish . definitely will be going back .food was done also fast to so that was perfect !
The Greatest little place I've been to... the Food is OUTSTANDING!!! and Sophie is the most caring and loving server... she alone made my party and myself totally adore this cozy lil place... if you love good food and love even more a place that feel like home "in a good way" you need to go to the PRESS BOX... THX 👍 for making beautiful memories.
Waitress was very sweet, food came out as ordered hot and well prepared. Decent beer selection. Menu is comprehensive. They were "in the weeds" when we got there, but got us drinks quickly and were attentive during the wait for our order. - Another visit, table of 5. Service and meals were great!
We visited this local sports bar/pub on a Saturday night and the food was really terrific. Highly recommend the Press Box nachos and the Italian grilled wings as appetizers- they were so tasty! The pizzas, sandwiches and desserts were all also quite good. We especially loved the filled churros! Service was quick, pleasant and efficient. Will definitely keep this one on the list for when we are back in Oswego.
It was a beautiful day to meet up with old friends outside on their lovely covered patio. We were there for drinks only, but what I saw of the menu and passing plates looked quite nice.
Prices are pretty good, food was amazing! Tried the Omaha panini, the spinach wrap side salad and fries and everything was great. Look wise. It is really neat, lots of memorabilia and the wood work looks really nice. The ppl are nice too. Definitely recommend 💯
Service is always very good. The cook should stay in the back instead of flirting with the waitresses so it doesn't take 40 minutes for spin dip. We love the atmosphere here for games, and they're very accommodating of larger parties as they have an upstairs as well. We will continue to come in when we need some great atmosphere and service for a game!
This place was great. I'd totally go back here. I wasn't sure what to think from the front, it looked a little hole in the wall ish. It was really cold inside so we sat outside, where it was sunny, so you'll have to weigh those options. But the food was good and the beer list was long enough with decentish options.
A friend recommended this place to me for when I came up here! Glad he did! Nice place with character! Service staff very friendly! Quick with the drinks and food! On top of their game! Had French dip sandwich with fries, it was delicious! Would like to come here again when I’m back in the area! Plenty of seating inside and out! Plenty of parking!
Great restaurant, awesome service. The food is general bar food and nothing to complain about. The service is amazing and all their waiters are polite and serve you well! Fun environment for drinks and peers otherwise not exactly my top choice for date night.
Ok so the waitress was fantastic. She really should've had roller skates!! Only seating 50 percent inside. She was still taking care of outside tables plus taking our quick draw because the bartender was way way too busy or couldn't juggle.. anyway. Menu is average. But y'all need a bunch of wait staff like Ally!! Otherwise idk how the summer will go 👍.
I had the baked haddock and it was over cooked so basically tasteless. My blue lemonade tasted as if there was no alcohol. Pretty underwhelming supper.
Fish fry was good, not hanging off ends of plate that's too much for me. Mac n cheese was delicious! Do need some kind of signage over bar reminding us where we are.
I have to say that it is common knowledge if you go to a sports bar a hamburger is the way to go. And if you order a burger you will get a great burger. I agree that most of the other offering are not perfected. I find the staff friendly and the place always busy. I in the summer the outside has a nice deck to sit on.
A nice afternoon to sit on the deck, enjoying the sunshine. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Chili was excellent, sandwich was tasty. A nice place to relax, have a beer and lunch.
Our bartender was very kind and helpful - she was closing up shop but said we could get an other round.
Generic bar food. Pretty standard. Decent atmosphere though.
It's a cozy place down by the marina. I was there on a slow night, so I had time to just relax and have a leisurely dinner. I enjoyed my food, though it was a little pricey. Spent $22 on a chicken Cesar salad after tip. I plan to return some other time to try a few of their other menu items.
The food is pretty good. First time I tried the pizza. Not bad. Their panini are really good as well. The French Open soup is delicious. It is a pub with all that bar food as well. Nice theme of the sports bar. The building is an old train station. Nicely done. Good food and decent service. Nice outdoor seating as well.
They are really nice but didn’t give me dressing with my salad and it was a togo order :(
I've gotten a better burger with larger portions in a high school lunch room. They're usually pretty decent, but I guess it must depend on who is working. Also, they do not have curbside pickup on "busy" nights, and inside can be VERY crowded with covid going on.
Burger was overpriced and overcooked. Didn't even come with standard tomato and lettuce, and the chips were like cheap store bought, not even kettle cooked or anything. Really disappointed in the food. Staff was nice enough.
The press box is pretty decent, servers were very nice location was clean. their attention to detail is a little lacking, we ordered two burgers both to be served medium rare. One came decidedly well done, the other medium. The burgers themselves were also only so-so, the one that came medium was decidedly nicer in meat quality. I think it's pretty reasonable for the price that they charge but a little more consistency would be nice.
Service was slow. My husband ordered his burger medium and it came out well and was dry. The fries weren't salted and we had to ask another waitress for our check because ours forgot to bring it with to go boxes like we asked. And two tables that came after we ordered got their orders before us.
Wonderful atmosphere, we sat on the deck. The staff was very attentive and were wonderful. Almost everything was top notch. Minus my burger. I had requested it medium (some pink left). We ended up having to get our food to go. Once I got home and went to eat my food, it was beyond well done. No color at all and VERY dry. I have absolutely no complaints besides this. Not sure if it was a fluke, but would be willing to try again based off of the rest of my experience.
Meh. Great service. Nice vibe. It's possible we picked the wrong sandwiches but somehow i doubt we did that on all 3 that we tried. Would try again, just not the sandwiches
I thought the food was ok. My tuna melt was a little odd. It was done open faced and was a little sweet, but it was ok. Fries were good. Nothing really stood out to me. They got us ina ND out fairly quickly.
The staff did a great job. I was not super impressed with the food. The chili tasted like uncooked paprika and chili powder, the meat in the burger was not seasoned and relied on the sauce to make up for it, and the daily pizza special had no sauce and the toppings just fell off the thin crust. The French dip was ok but the roast beef was just stacked in the middle so it was a thick wad of meat. We had a hot brownie with ice cream for dessert and that was the best dish. Hard to screw up a brownie . I would try here again but it definitely does not deserve as high of a rating as it has. Average food, at best
It was a cold rainy night and the only seating was outside. The fire pit was nice but it was still chilly. The fire pit did create a nice atmosphere. We were sitting near the opening so it was still a little chilly. Food was okay. I personally had the chicken fajitas which was okay. The flavor reminded me of packaged seasoning. Wasn't a big fan. My cousin had a burger. He said that it was okay. The restroom wasn't very clean. It may just be because they had a party going on.
Came for Oswego state freshmen move in. We got seated by a sarcastic waitress and then later ignored for over one full hour. After one and three quarter hours we got our own drinks at the bar. We see 5 different waitresses. Plenty of staff. Very little customer service. Tip equates to attention. I’m a former server. Patrons beware
The Mac and cheese side was the best thing, but that's not saying much. We tried their beignets, and they were grease bombs. Not a good taste either. My wife and I both had the Yard Burger and it was tasteless and dry. I asked for mine to be "pink" as the menu calls it, and it was close to well done and very dry. My wife didn't like hers either. The fries were good, but tasted as though they had been sitting out for sometime and possibly microwaved. Still on the colder side rather than hot and fresh. We haven't tried any of their signature Mac and cheese plates, but they should just remove burgers if they aren't even going to try with them. Their staff were very nice.
Artichoke/spinach dip was more like an Alfredo and not enough spinach. Roast beef sandwich looked and tasted like steakums. Fish sandwich was very bland. White pizza was a big soggy mess except for the very edges. The attempt at good food was there but poorly executed. Front door needs a new soft closure as the booth that adjoins it, hears and feels the constant slam, slam, slam. Service was good, server pleasant.
I accompanied my family here during my vacation after hearing about how good it was. It has a decent sports bar vibe. We had an issue with our server. She was young, maybe new. The biggest issue was that she took our order and we didn't see her for almost 30 minutes. When the food finally came, it was cold. Particularly the flat bread that I order. It had sat so long that nothing was warm, and the crust was so soggy that you needed a knife and fork to manipulate it into your mouth. Fortunately, they did take it from our bill. I understand that it was a busy weekend, so maybe I'll give it a try again in the future, but this experience wasn't the best.
Went early during week, this place seems more like a sports late night crowd. Food was OK. But pricey for what you get. Typical if near the water type place.
Ate here two days in a row due to its location across from the hotel. Day 1 was slow service. Day 2 was the slowest service I've experienced at a restaurant. The server was virtually non-existent even for drink orders. The place was not that busy. No real excuses given. 20 minutes just to get a beer. The food quality was good. If it was one time I'd say it was an off night, but two days in a row seems too coincidental especially with different servers.
I'm being generous with two stars. Nothing special about this place. Overpriced. Potato chips not made in-house. Probably Ruffles. Potato skins were run of the mill. Bacon cheese burger was literally just that. Lettuce, tomato and onion were extra. No imaginative spices or sauces. A 14 dollar burger should have some taste.
The food was fine and they were fairly quick to prepare it. However buyer beware! The kids menu says “all kids meals served with french fries or applesauce” so when my daughter’s chicken nuggets arrived without either I asked the waitress and was told that it is something that has to be ordered and paid for separately, and it doesn’t matter what the menu says, we have to order it separately if we want it.
I went here because I was staying at the hotel across the street, so it was convenient. I thought it was a restaurant, not a sports bar. They seated me quickly, but I couldn't even hear myself think because of the game on TV being blasted at extremely loud volume. So, I changed to a table outside far from the speakers, but then I spent my entire time shooing swarms of flies and other bugs away from my food and drink, and trying to prevent my napkins from blowing away in the wind. When I finished, it took the server 20 minutes to bring my check because she was busy talking with a friend. That should be done on her own time, not mine.
The location is nice, however the food is disgusting. The waiter I had did not check up one is the whole meal, we ran out of water and pretty much sat there and she was nowhere to be seen. I shouldn’t even have tipped. Not to mention everything was overpriced.
Stopped in tonight for dinner. Was seated quickly and brought menus. Sat for 25 minutes without having a server come for our order. A couple was seated at the table behind us and within 5 minutes a server came and took their drink order and left before we could get her attention. We said something to the hostess as we left and she didn’t seem too concerned. Ended eating elsewhere. Would not recommend.
Waitress was very kind and loved the atmosphere. Food came out, we (ordered buffalo nachos)and we ate two bites Before pushing the dish away. It was overwhelmingly greasy and heavy. Paid 20$ and left with all the food on the table… Perhaps we chose the wrong dish but have a feeling I wont be back to find out.
The only place that's ever pushed me to be a Karen and leave a food review. I got a bacon burger, parmesan wings and fries. The burger was dry and tasteless. No seasoning, no sauce. The wings were dry and also fairly tasteless but I guess if you smother them in the blue cheese dressing you wouldn't notice as much. The fries were actually pretty good, no hate there but it is proof they can season things if they really wanted to, so there's that. If you're looking to spend way too much money to taste the blandest food ever, this is the place for you. If you value taste, McDonald's is literally a better solution.
We were seated promptly, that's about the best I can say for the place, after that it was all downhill. The table full of college kids next to us came in well after us, but had their drinks and food order taken before anyone offered us water. I was ready to leave, but my wife flagged down the waitress taking care of the college kids. She took our order, eventually a different waitress delivered our order. Our food was okay, it was warm but certainly not hot, and certainly nothing to rave about. Standard bill of fare in every sports bar everywhere. It spent some considerable time under a heat lamp before it got to us. We had to flag down the waitress to get the check otherwise we might still be sitting there waiting. The place just was not that busy! Our waitress seamed bothered at having to take time away from the college kids to serve us. In total we spent an hour and 45 minutes for a burger and fries with a beer and an order of chicken fingers for my wife. The poor performance cost our waitress when it was time for me to leave a tip and next time we're in town we will certainly avoid this place... A very disappointing sports bar!
After calling ahead for mine and my son's food I had to stand and wait over 20 minutes for my order. Since the place was busy I didn't get too bothered by it.....the issue was when I got home with our food it was so over cooked. My son's grilled chicken was more like burned chicken jerky. Absolutely disappointed.
Took a few minutes before we were waited on, not really an issue though. The issue started when she brought it drinks then left without asking if we were ready to order. 10 minutes later, she came back for our order. 45 minutes after that, she finally brought our foods out. It wasn't busy enough to justify the delay. I ordered my burger medium, it was well done. The top bun was dry from sitting under the heat lamp for an extended amount of time. When she finally came to check on us again, I asked for a couple of boxes and the check. She's brought boxes but no check. After 20 minutes, a different waitress came to take the dirty dishes. I asked her to bring the check because we had someplace to go. We allowed ourselves more than 90 minutes of extra time, we were still late because this waitress couldn't be bothered. I don't recommend this place. It has been almost 30 years since I last went here, I'm not sure I'll ever return.
