Winters Tavern Pacifica Reviews
Great little dive bar with a diverse selection of beers on tap. Has pool tables and shuffleboard as well as a stage for live music. Nothing fancy, but exactly what you need if you want a dive
Drinks are strong staff is great. Seen some of the best bands here. A treasure of place filled with locals. Stop in every time we are in the area visiting family and friends.
Loud live music in a dark tavern with walls covered by ephemera. Winters is the small town dank that you want. 20 years ago, my wife and I were looking at apartments in Pacifica. We were on the fence until we stopped by Winters on the way out of town. 16 beer taps, mostly local micros. Full bar of liquor. Don't ask for anything with more than 3 ingredients because you'll be met with a shrug and a scoff. C'mon, man. This is not The Savoy. Most nights have a live act -- could be reggae, classic rock, maybe 4 old guys on stage playing surf, punk metal, anything with guitars. Some nights have a pop up food stand. All of the bartenders are my bartenders. Imagine Moe's and add a zest if life. Please drive safe.
Good bar in Pecifica with cool live music events. I enjoyed the show, bartenders were friendly and made good cocktails. Elaine Ryan performed really well. Love her music 👍
Everything you want in a bar and more. Classic Bay Area bar with live music, snacks, and primo drinks. For a bar to be this on point during the global pandemic is beyond impressive. They place is clean and always abiding by the state enforced regulations. I can’t wait to see this place in its full gusto!
The atmosphere is fun, relaxing. Bartenders are attentive. The crowd and staff are courteous. The pool table in the back is often available. The Pizza on Sunday was delicious.
It is what it is. Friendly and great variety of live shows. Pinball and pool, shuffleboard and great restaurants nearby. New pinball machines and the popcorn is back. Taco Tues also, so I have heard, and I will find out today!
I can't say enough about our favorite surf tavern steps from the sea. Live music almost every night and the best selection of craft beer in Pacifica and beyond! The owner is present most days and nights and he is the kindest person and truly cares about life and his guests.
Great venue for live music. Excellent selection of beer, including non-alcoholic.
This bar kicks butt. Come for the music, stay for the games and vibes and good drinks. A true local holdout but with welcoming vibes. Been here dozens of times for grungy punk shows or daytime beer garden beers. Attended a local fund raiser this past weekend and was reminded why Winters is such an awesome Pacifica establishment
I walked in for the first time, recieved a free drink from the bar. Played pool, shuffle ball, pinball, and ate free popcorn while watching a live band play. After all that I sat outside admired the art pieces along the fence while the sunset. There are plenty of picnic benches and a dog area.
It is a hidden coastal gem, and it is opened! I've heard about it from several people, including the owner, but managed to get there only last week. It was great to see a group of local standup comedians in an outdoor setting. My wife an I enjoyed the evening with interesting people, and we'll be there again for its live music and cool atmosphere.
Perfect kind of bar I love, local, character, hoid selection, dude bartending was great. Will be stopping again this evening on my way back from Half Moon Bay
Excellent venue for live music, both local and also attracts bigger bands. great selection of Beers. Down to earth place. Owners and Manager are awesome folks and you can tell they care about the vibe. You could call it a dive bar, but you'd miss the point. The place has a long history in Pacifica. Just south of San Francisco, Easy drive and you're in a small town atmosphere with killer beers and excellent live music. Please do yourself a favor and go check it out!
Absolutely amazing place. Order the Peruvian food. It can't be beat. Very welcoming staff and wonderful regulars. It's the reason why you go into a place like this. If you're not a jackass, and know how to hold your drink, this is the place. Absolutely love it
Love this place. The staff is super friendly, and recognized me after only a few visits. They have been doing everything by the book for COVID while allowing patrons to have a sense of normalcy for a few hours in their outdoor space. Live music is also a big plus, I hope it continues to come back over the next few months.
I left a short, but glowing review of Winter's on Yelp, but I have to reiterate how much I love this place. Tonight, the power went out. Josh, the bartender, kept the place going as much as possible and the 8 member bluegrass band kept playing. This experience, in addition to the friendly service and the wide array of beer on tap, will keep me coming back for years to come. They have a decent whiskey selection, to boot!
Awesome dive bar with good beer selection and live music.
The perfect roadhouse bar. Live music and divey (in a good way) as they come. Big outdoor patio.
5 starts for free snacks, delicious rotating taps, and a classic atmosphere. They also host live bands regularly - smaller/local acts that draw quality and energy!
The friendliness and prompt service is as good as, or better than some elegant bars. It is a dive bar. The outdoor dance area is gravel (totallyfine), but I advice flat or low heeled shoes ,not 👠. It's a "you do your thing" kind of bar. Simple, real, locals, relaxed environment. Will be back.
I was here a couple of times back in 1995 during a visit from England to my friends in San Bruno. Great bar, friendly people, and good popcorn and beer. Wish I could visit again. Maybe!
Winters is, hands-down, the best bar in Pacifica for multiple reasons: 1) the atmosphere is welcoming with a come-as-you-are-meets-punk-rock vibe; 2) the drinks are good (I'm not much of a beer drinker, but they have a pretty extensive beer list, including PBR, and they aren't stingy on the liquor/mixed drinks); 3) they have live music pretty much every day/night (and weekly stand-up comedy and open mic), and it's not unheard of for some good punk bands to roll through (Guttermouth, Agent Orange, TSOL, Fang, and the Secretions are a few of the bands I've seen at Winters); 4) there's free shuffleboard (just trade in your ID), a quarter-operated pool table, and 2 pinball machines; 5) the bartenders are friendly; and 6) the decor is eclectic. Plus, Winters is a stone's throw away from my front door, so I dig the convenience. If you're ever heading south on the 1 through Pacifica, be sure to stop by this long-time coastal gem.
This has all the makings of my dream dive bar. Big long bar with stools, a full length shuffle board table, pool table, darts, pinball machine, and a small stage for live bands, and finally tv screens for sports. It has everything in a small space, which is fine because it wasn't busy at all when we popped by. Bar staff were good and helped me charge my phone. Quality place I'd go back to again.
Locals only almost! Pacifica crowd sure is fun, they love to dance and enjoy live music. The pinball in the back is great, and the ocean is only 2 blocks down from here!
A great place to just chill and meet new people or old friends. The atmosphere is mostly relaxed though it can get loud for those who are sensitive to noises. Overall a great experience over here.
Terrific atmospheric dive bar with a surprisingly EXCELLENT draft beer selection (seriously good). Lots of live music, too, and very friendly bartenders. Can't miss place if you like comfortable funk. One of my favorites in the Bay Area. No food, but several restaurants nearby that you can bring in from.
Great atmosphere, nice bartenders, and cool live music including open mic nights! Dive bars not your thing? No worries, come inside and check out the awesome outdoor patio and grab a quick bite from their outside kitchen! A true Pacifica jewel
Usually it is good and I have a great time. I usually show up with my boyfriend and dog. One night, though, someone was super drunk and decided to pee on someone's bike out in public, was yelling at women, and finally threatened and tried to "fight" me, my boyfriend, AND my dog. I forget his name, but the staff there seemed to know him and took the almost 15 min for anyone to even SAY something to this guy who was harassing us and wouldn't leave us alone. The guy even followed us to our car as we were trying to leave. Was only there long enough to get one drink before WE had to leave because they refused to kick this guy out.
Great staff! Good live music! Free popcorn. Pool, darts, shuffle board.
Absolutely great bar in my opinion. Always has local and not so local bigger bands playing, great tap selection, and overall great vibe. Sea Jay, the owner is usually there having fun listening to music as well. What can I say, he seems to have great taste. The bar also hosts events like the Rock ‘n’ Roll flea market which is always a treat for all your music needs and neat bric-a-brac that the vendors bring in. Usually something for everyone which is fun cause all of us aren’t music nerds!
Great place for drinks and live music! They have live bands almost every night and a great beer tap selection. There's a pool table in the back and an outdoor area thats beer garden style. They do not serve food but there is free popcorn 😋.
Awesome owners Always lots of great talented musicians that play here locally and abroad touring from all over the united state . Live music almost every night. Well staffed and stocked bar with Great Bartenders , always welcoming with fast service. “There is no better place!” If you have been here there is no doubt that you had a great time, truly a gem.
Great bar! Live music, outdoor seating, and a friendly mix of people!
Great dive bar. Had live music and great energy. The band that played was also very friendly. The bartenders were awesome, able to recommend drinks that tasted delicious. Watch out for the cherry gummy bear, the drunkenness will sneak up on you. :P bar staff was great, got me home safe shows that they really care. For that I'm very thankful!
Great place to go my band Lost Puppy Forever played there and we had a blast. Great bar, pinball, outdoor area it was awesome. The bar is decorated with cool Vintage collectables a must see. If you are coming right off the freeway the exit leads you to the bar exit Francisco Blvd. Plus your 3 blocks from the beach Hwy. A great bar that promotes music and great times!
No food to rate. The venue is awesome. FABULOUS live bands. Views are spectacular. The owner is an awesome guy!! 😎🏄♂️🌊
Great live music on 1-29. Talented artist. Quaint gem of a place with considerate bartenders and decent on tap selections
Best rotating beer selection! Live music almost every night. Bands come from far and wide to play Winters. An important part of Pacifica's illustrious history and an icon of a continuing tradition of excellence in revelry.
Best live music bar on the planet right now. 10 years of awesome bands and counting. 100+ years of history in Pacifica. Post pandemic outdoor beer garden still going. Bands almost every night plus afternoon bands on the weekend.
Cute little dive bar with live bands. A nice little spot with a small stage and a nice spread of picnic tables outside. Dog friendly, affordable drinks. Friendly staff, quick service. Super fun catching 'Aardvarks' there this past Friday. Will be back!
Great bar for music. Friendly staff and a huge beer garden in the back where you can bring your for dogs. Cheap and strong drinks too.
I had a great night there on a Monday night with Grateful Dead music! And it's so close to a beautiful beach!
Friendly staff. Craft beer. Live rock, punk, and surf music, Bluegrass Tuesdays. Divey, cozy, never-ending stuff to look at on the walls. Pacifica is only 15 to 20 minutes from any on ramp in San Francisco. A completely hidden gem. Ditch the hipsters and wall-to-wall crowds of tiny SF bars and stretch out a bit here, in this 1890s barn-turned-bar.
This is a quintessential local bar, but much more. The bartender Matt is friendly, attentive, and seems to know everyone by name. They have awesome comedy nights every other Thursday and so many great local bands play here on the weekends. Winters is my favorite spot in Pacifica, hands down.
Grateful Dead night was awesome. Right near the ocean.
Great local dive/gem in the Pacifica, live music pool table and cool real people
Went for new years at the behest of a friend, had a wonderful time with well made drinks and lots of live music 🎉🎉
This is a home bar. Service is awesome. Music is great. Can’t wait to come back.
Great place to see a good live act, or play as a live band. CJ and crew are really about the music. I love Winters!
Beautiful place to enjoy your night. You can catch live music here almost every night. Huge beer selection and friendly staff. This dive bar is perfect for your fun night with friends!
I had recently heard about this place. It’s a very famous dive bar in Pacifica with a very diverse and fantastic list of live acts that play there. The bar itself is amazing and you could spend all night just looking at the walls and the ceilings 🤣 Everyone there was super friendly. I went because my longtime housemate’s band, Fuzz Attack was playing. Great show. Great atmosphere. No strangers in that place just new friends.
Stopped in for a quick drink but ended up staying for a good time. What a great atmosphere with a jukebox for music and live bands. Locals seem to fill the place up but they were more than welcoming to a weary traveler. I talked for hours about all things in life. I will go out of my way to Go back again.
Went to Winters to watch my friends band play and had an awesome time! It’s got a good vibe, live music, pool table, and the staff was friendly! Krista was my bartender and she was awesome! Super nice, fun, & great attitude. I’ve been to a lot of similar bars traveling with my friends band on tour, and this was one of my favorite stops! Thanks for a fun time! We’ll be back!
Maybe the best lil tavern in the world and i've visited alot all over the globe. Loud rock, unapologetic ambience, fantastic curated beer selection, "bartender's lunch" for free food in slow cooker, honest helpful pro staff and the owner parties like a sasquatch. Interesting mix of local workers, surfers, local kids, and San Francisco punk rock legends co-mingled. Look the big motorcycle skid mark on the floor. Oh did i mention all the pinballs, pool, shuffleboard and endless ephemera all over, plus b&w tvs playing weird oddities? I hope no-one learns about this place but everyone should so they stay in business and keep booking top-shelf bands.
Great little local bar. Exactly what you would expect from an American bar! Loads of really great whisky's to be had here. And a very large changing selection of beers. Bar lady was very nice and the locals looks like they were enjoying the place. We had a few great games of pool and had an old fashioned whisky! Fab!
Very divey bar in the 80s and 90s. It was revamped by a couple from San Diego. They added micro brews on tap and host live bands. The decor is nice with surfboards and skateboards above. Not a very big place and it is on the darker side inside. Pool table, functioning shuffle board.Newly installed outdoor garden/patio.
Paul, the bartender, is so awesome. We stumbled into this place on a Saturday night because it's one of the few places in Pacifica open late, and we had a blast. Happened to arrive on a night with a great life band and a short chill, fun, and friendly vibe from everyone inside. Great neighbors dive bar. My drink was super strong.
Great people, great venue, good vibe. So far it's the best I saw of the San Francisco area all together. I played here back on Sep 7 and coming back on Sat Jan 20. They're decent people and know how to party down at Winters Tavern
Without a doubt this is a quicentennial dive bar. We were there for rock and roll flea market and to enjoy the bands. The trouble with monkees was The last act and honestly, the most fun. The only downside was that the weather was quite chilly and windy and we needed to park several blocks away.
I've only been here as a performer but it was a pretty decent experience. Locals are pretty receptive to bands, drinks are cold, load in is okay. We don't get drink tickets. Fun little stage. This is a dive bar. You know what to expect.
Great dive bar. Plenty of parking in the lot or street. Stage has ample room and a decent sound system. Variety of beer and liquor for your taste. Wine selection is small, but not a wine bar. Lots of other games and activities if you ever get board of the great people watch factor.
Cool dive bar with tons of great music, good selection of beers, and bbq'ing outside. I've been here a few times for live music/fund raisers and they host a good party. Shuffleboard, pool table, video games in the back with enough room on the dance floor if you choose to. Some of the best things about this place are the friendly patrons, no charge for most shows, and it's close to the beach! Some shows are all ages so check their calendar!
Had a great time, but when I left, I got charged $100 more for shots I never bought! My bill came out to $195 instead!!
I came in for dead night ordered a beer I ask one of the beers of what size glass it is thought it'd be less than a pint & it was so I ordered a sour beer thinking it would be a pint I was not told how much it was & is a 12 oz. Professional bartenders should tell you how much it's going to be & if it's going to be less than a pint before they pour it. There is no prices listed.
My band played here a few months back, so this review is intended to advise other bands considering playing this dive. There is no sound person. The house PA is a barebones 8 channel mixer with a couple of EQ knobs. There are no stage monitors that I recall seeing or hearing (fortunately we had inner ears). Apparently the bar does offer some kind of payout, but we weren’t told of it or given one. Hell, we weren’t even offered a round of comped drinks. While the bar and venue does seem like a chill and happening place to go in Pacifica, I would not play here again.
