Anaya's Pasadena Reviews
My girl and I had dinner here last week and we absolutely enjoyed it. Great service and amazing food. If you're ever in the area I recommend you give them a try. Also if you're interested in seeing a glimpse of what this place is like in real time, we uploaded a short video on YouTube which can be found on the Hit or Miss Reviews channel.
Delicious food! Great selection of food and drink. Extensive tequila list! I would definitely go back next time im in the area.
Delicious food and great staff. Everything we ordered was so good. This was the perfect place to bring my family and share dishes. The amount was generous and i highly recommend ordering the guacamole. They mix it in front of you so it's fresh. Our server was amazing and so attentive. They also accommodated my booth request for my family which I highly appreciated. There is also outdoor seating. Highly recommend!
Took a friend to lunch here for her birthday...I had been meaning to try this place. Well, I was not disappointed! Great Mexican food, awesome drinks, wonderful deserts. I absolutely love the decor in this place, it's so beautiful and comfy. I had the chile relleno with rice and beans, my friend had enchiladas. We both loved our food! The waitors there are really nice and friendly, which made the experience that much nicer. I'll definitely be returning, the ambiance is wonderful and the food is tasty!
Excellent food . I had a combo plate taco, cheese enchilada, and chicken tamale. The flavors were amazing with rice and beans. This is a must go Mexican Restaurant in old town Pasadena. We had Monday Margaritas for $7.00. Service was great.
ANAYA's MEXICAN - REVIEW FOR JUNE 2025 Staying at the nearby AC Hotel, I was looking for a quick mexican restaurant nearby. Surprisingly, this restaurant is larger than expected and something i was looking for in Pasadena. *Food - Order = Beef flautas with beans and rice = 25$ with tax and tip - I would order again! A little pricey but substancial amount and considering location. It was packaged well, although make sure to ask for cutlery if you're staying at the hotel *Different than most mexican spots in Pasadena - - Aside from El Portugal nearby which is great for outdoor seating and the food isn't out of this world-- there isn't many big family seating mexican restaurants in pasadena; There are many hole in the walls along with taco trucks but not too many like Anaya's. *Other - outdoor seating right on colorado + large indoor seating - happy hour specials - parking? = since i walked.. can't comment and seems like it may be street parking on colorado only which may be hard I'll definitely check this place out for dine in! Heard the margaritas were worth trying pre a coworker! Shout out to Joanna for being extra kind on the phone and staff seems very friendly.
Edit: 8/22 Stopped in a second time while visiting the area and ate dinner. Had a wonderful time. The food did not disappoint. The staff were just as friendly and kind as the first visit. The manager on duty, José, even took time to talk to me about how to find/make café de olla con piloncillo back home as well as about using abuelita in different drinks. 🙌❤️ Margaritas and martinis are on point. 🎯 8/20 This restaurant had it all. Lovely art to catch your eye everywhere you look. Live music (even on a Sunday morning) that didn't interrupt the conversation. Delicious authentic Mexican coffee (café de olla con piloncillo). The breakfast buffet is not only extensive, but they rotate what's included to keep the flavors fresh. The staff are so incredibly kind and thoughtful. They were attentive without being annoying. Can't wait to check it out again sometime.
Delicious food, amazing service, beautiful restaurant.. all around excellent first time visit! So pleased with every aspect of my experience here.. felt very safe partaking in their outdoor dining set up.. stayed for a few hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. Daniel took care of us, and Jose stopped by to check in on us as well. Their customer service went above & beyond.. 10/10 recommend.. cant wait to be back!
Amazing place! Came across by chance and was blown away by the food (Sunday brunch buffet). Staff, service, food, drinks were excellent. I live 2 hours away, but gonna make it a point to return!
everything was a 10/10 on the menu. unbelievably amazing food and drinks. i will come here again and again and again. don't know how they do it! but management being involved in service probably plays a big role, shoutout to the manager who was at the front of house checking in on everything the whole time! fantastic work from front to back of house 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Got a recent taste of Pasadena dining al fresco! Unfortunately, this was during that ridiculous heat wave, so yeah...114(!) in the shade. But that made the agua fresca and cerveza that much more delicious, and the salad that much more appreciated. Enchiladas were amazing as were the churros and taquitos. Coming back when its cooler!
This is a family owned restaurant that serves the highest rated upscale Mexican food in L.A Having a party of five, we had the chance to try many different items on the menu, and also great selection of cocktails. From the slow cooked pork carnitas, that comes With beans, guacamole, salsa and of course rice, to the appetizers plate that’s so big and has too many items to count. The camarones a la Diabla with spicy shrimp is their best seller. The Chilaquiles bandera that comes in 2 flavors green or red. Final verdict I gave it 5 stars for a reason. Give it a try and you’ll be happy you did.
This is from Sept so a while back. We came here for a late lunch and drinks and the food was excellent. Services matched the food with excellence. We were served by Giovanna, Jorge and Mary. Why by so many? We came for a late lunch and since we were waiting for Oasis concert, we decided to stay on for drinks and eventually move to their bar area. Very happy. It was my first time having cactus that was so delicious. I've had it before (probably at resorts) and was never impressed by it. Here, very much impressed. I can't remember the name of the food but was recommended as something that is quite traditional. And that's what we wanted to try.
At first glance, the restaurant is beautiful. The ambience of the restaurant was great, a beautiful blend of traditional Mexican decore with modern Mexican American art sprinkled throughout. I got the tequila pasta and my husband got the gobernador burrito; both were delicious. The food was so flavorful and well portioned. Finally, the service was great. Our server was friendly, attentive and prompt. He even packaged us up some complementary chips and salsa at the end of the meal because we enjoyed the salsa so much. It's rare to find a place that it great all the way around and this place here is one of those rare places.
Stopped in for a quick bite and a couple drinks (Modelo bottles and some 24oz draft) with friends and stayed for lunch and cocktails. They offer complimentary chips and salsa (verde) which really hits the spot on a hot day. We ordered a share plate, molcajete de carnes, and were very happy we did. The volcanic bowl comes with beef, chicken, cactus, avocado, cheese and some vegetables, plus bean, rice and tortillas on the side. Depth of flavor was amazing, and the tortillas sopped up every bit of the broth. Cocktails here are great, with pitchers of margaritas, mojitos, sangria, and multiple tequila flights for bigger groups or adventurers. This place also offer a MASSIVE list of premium tequila, mezcal and other spirits. If you’ve been missing refreshing, authentic Mexican drinks, this is definitely worth a visit. Flavors for margaritas and mojitos are a small charge, but the purée is well worth it if you’re not in the mood for lime. One of the finest bars I’ve been to, with full glassware and well stocked bar (including good wine options) for nearly any kind of cocktail you could imagine. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cool. Perfect for a regular day, and easy to upgrade your order for a special occasion. The real highlight here has to be the staff. Everyone was friendly and extremely efficient. Each seemed to know to make/pour drinks and also cover one another to run food out to tables as quickly as possible. Every drink arrived at our table quick and cold, and the food still piping hot. Absolute 5/5 venue and one of my most memorable.
Absolutely delicious steak tacos with side of grilled vegetables. Probably the best food I had in Pasadena, and we ate at some nicer, more expensive restaurants. Good margarita. Friendly service. Definitely recommend.
Stopped by here for lunch with our friends is Pasadena. This place was in old town industrial Pasadena and the ambience was nice and inviting. Several of us had Margaritas and they were perfect. Carefully hand crafted at the bar with top shelf tequila. For lunch I had some carnitas tacos that were better than any I had back in the Midwest. My wife had a noodle dish, but I forgot the name of it I’m getting old. Our friend had the verde enchiladas and I definitely will try that next time Staff was attentive and helpful when we had questions about popular items. The restaurant was clean and well laid out. I’ll definitely go back when I’m in Pasadena. The prices were reasonable and the food was excellent. Entrance and bathrooms were ADA compliant
It’s one of the hidden gems of Pasadena, I’ve been there multiple times, for special occasions or just a crave, the food itself makes an statement, flavorful, rich in contrast of taste, delicious, and the portions are very generous, from appetizers to traditional Mexican American food it has it all, perfect for a date night or evening the atmosphere is quite nice, nice background music, it has a bar with many options of drinks and beer, comfortable seating very intimate, the service is great, very attentive and welcoming, you can’t miss the opportunity to try the side served freshly made guacamole with chips. Overall a great experience.
What a treat!! Enjoy breakfast all day long or dive into perfectly seasoned Mexican cuisine. We were partaking in dry January and asked the amazing Easy for a mocktail and he did not disappoint. This fella is going places with his libation creations. Spacious indoor/outdoor seating and friendly staff.
After a long shopping trip, we were looking for a place for margaritas and happened to find Anayas. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, great ambiance and friendly as well as knowledgeable staff. We had arrived when it was happy hour !! which was great. Ordered a couple of Margarita pitchers, well made, potent ! and definitely quenched our thirst . We shared chicken flautas , fried chicken taquitos , chicken & fish tacos - all were delicious, tasteful and well prepared. The house salsa as well as hot salsa with freshly prepared chips were also great.
I was looking for some sort of Mexican breakfast, but didn't know what I wanted to have. Such a surprise to walk into a Sunday brunch buffet, with basically everything: green& red enchiladas, barbacoa, Chile rellenos...
This is a beautiful place. Could be very romantic if you’re looking to go out on a date. We started off with some chips guacamole and salsa! YUM!! we then got our drinks they were strong yet pleasing, and our entrees were AMAZING,the carnitas were a beautiful flavor, not spicy not to dry! The pollo Al mango was delicious the chicken was a bit dry but the mango sauce made it better. The flan was fantastic! The customer service here was superb, they were on to of everything from suggesting to pre bussing.
This is my 3rd time visiting this place and it does disappoint at all. I took my wife, daughter, and nephew along with me this time. We arrived right after brunch which was fine with me. The waiter was very attentive to us and explained the menu to my party. We started with chips and salsa with a bowl of guacamole. The salsa came with two options on level of spice. We also ordered drinks which were very strong from the bar. Next came the food order which if you look at the videos and pictures, you can see what we ordered. Chicken fajitas, shrimp tostadas, carne asada quesadilla, and steak enchiladas. All the food came out hot and fast. I would definitely recommend going to this place. You won’t be disappointed at all.

This place is very good. 2nd time here and we were not disappointed! The food was very good and our server was excellent. There was even live music the night we went. We will definitely be returning. The portions we're large, food was hot and it wasn't super expensive!
Found a fantastic Sunday brunch spot! The value here is impressive for the quality of food you receive. We started with the horchata and café de olla, both of which were authentic and perfectly balanced. The highlight was definitely the chilaquiles. The green salsa is packed with deep, bright flavor. If you aren't a fan of immediate heat, don't be fooled—the spice is a 'slow burn' that builds beautifully as you eat. Highly recommend for a relaxed Sunday meal
I really enjoyed this Mexican Restaurant! Food and service were really good! There was a birthday party going on and the staff sang to and put a sombrero on the birthday person! So cute! We did not get the brunch buffet, but it looked great! Will have to go back to try. Just a note: parking was a little difficult to find, so go early to look for a spot if you're meeting people there!
Dining here was a truly enjoyable experience. Guests were greeted kindly and seated quickly in a clean, well-maintained space. The menu offered a variety of delicious options, making it easy to find something appealing. Meals were delivered at the right pace, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff remained attentive and professional, ensuring that every detail was handled with care. Drinks were brought promptly and refilled often. The overall atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, creating the perfect environment for a meal. It was clear that the restaurant values quality and service, making it a fantastic place to revisit again.
With the closure of El Cholo in Pasadena, our family has been looking for a great new Mexican restaurant and I think we've found it! We've gone as a family multiple times now and have always had a great time.
Excellent food . I had a combo plate taco, cheese enchilada, and chicken tamale. The flavors were amazing with rice and beans. This is a must go Mexican Restaurant in old town Pasadena. We had Monday Margaritas for $7.00. Service was great.

It’s my first time in this restaurant. They have a large dinner menu and efficient service. I liked the tequila lime pasta and camarones al ajillo. The skirt steak was pretty good. The shrimp ceviche was gummy due to prolonged exposure to the acid. The guava flan brûlée and churros were a nice finish to the meal.
Food was good, nice flavor. My BF had the New York stake, it was on the smaller side, not surprised. I had the Pollo Mole, it was yummy with great grilled veggies. We had classic margaritas, they were good but way too much ice, more than the margarita. Several times we had to flag down other servers to get assistance. Over all good food, we're willing to go back and try the brunch buffet.
Nothing special as far as the authenticity of the food. Just grilled carne asada stake. They have a full bar, the drinks were good but over priced. It was more than $52. For a margarita flight but they were small glasses with too much ice so it was hard to enjoy much of the drink itself.

Definitely come here for the chips and salsa, and the horchata. Do not expect much from the entrees. The steak was chewy and over done, the seafood enchiladas were... laughable (6 tiny shrimp per enchilada). The server was wonderful but overworked and had a section that spanned half the restaurant. They recooked the steak but the quality of the meat was just not there.
Let's start with the atmosphere. The restaurant is beautiful! They have created a lovely outdoor space that is perfect for al fresco dining and people-watching. The service is efficient and you never have to wait very long for food and drinks. They have an extensive tequila menu and a creative list of signature cocktails. In addition to happy hour, they have drink specials on Wine Down Wednesday. Now the food. The portions are smaller than other traditional Mexican restaurants in the area. However, I appreciated their attempt to bring balance by including spring mix on the plates. They serve breakfast all day, so I tried their popular chilaquiles. They were too crunchy and I couldn't see or hardly taste any egg. The dish was overpowered by the sauce. Try: Paloma Negra, Burrito Skip: Chilaquiles, Guacamole
Sparse vegetarian offerings, rice made with chicken stock so the vegetarians ended up with double beans. Food was good although a bit on the pricy side for what you got.
Beautiful upscale environment. Whoever did the interior design was great. Food was delicious. I had three cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. The staff and manager were friendly. But the prices are about double what I pay elsewhere. A small margarita was $30. A pitcher costs $75. The beer however was good at under $10 for a large beer. My final bill was about $150 for just myself. If I go back, I'd probably stick to beer on tap. The high prices make it cost prohibitive to visit frequently, unless you are wealthy.

I Actually Only Came Here Because My Cousin Wanted To Try This Over Priced Over Rated Poor Excuse For A Mexican Restaurant. I Actually Have Eaten From Street Venders Who's Food And Service Are Much Better. I Ordered The The Fish Ceviche And Was Definitely Disappointed With The Fish That Was Cut Like Worm's. Yup Definitely Taste Like Dry Fish. Oh Yeah I Actually Had To Order Avocado Because They Didn't Put Any . Yup My Little Cousin's Chicken Wings Were All Dry And Tasteless. I Definitely Asked Her Mom If She Liked The Shreaded Beef And She Said It Was Ok. I Definitely Don't Like The Percentage Tip That My Waiter Really Didn't Deserve. He Definitely Had A Attitude And Really Didn't Deserve Anything. I Definitely Know I'm Not Ever Going Back To This Place Again.
Our party of five had a very disappointing first visit here. One guest with severe food allergies took out her own food, and instead of politely explaining any policy, the manager George approached us rudely and aggressively. There were no posted signs about outside food, and his lack of professionalism made the situation worse. What really concerned us was that George went to every other nearby table—none of which were African American—to thank them and check on their needs, but never once acknowledged our table. The difference in treatment felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. We spent a significant amount here but were treated with disrespect. If you want great food and a welcoming environment, go to Amigos instead—they value all customers.
Wow! what a rip off. $30 for brunch that was terribly disappointing in its selection! & $20 for a bowl of soup! Y’all would be wise to take my advice & AVOID this overpriced scam of a restaurant on colorado blvd. it’s no wonder they had no line, while Urth Cafe had a long line… Anaya’s is NOT worth the huge bill they present at the end of the meal, trust me, you’ll be disappointed. 😔 save yourself some time & money! go anywhere else, you’ll stand a better chance of being satisfied.
I live locally and have been a very happy patron for a couple years. The atmosphere is terrific, and the service is consistently outstanding. Emphasis on the service because everyone is always so incredibly helpful and kind. I was a happy consistent patron until tonight. I am flabbergasted and livid that they increased the price of hot chocolate while DOWNSIZING the portion significantly. For two cups of hot chocolate, $14!!!! $14 for 6 oz each??? And absolutely no change to the recipe, flavor, quality of ingredients, nothing. This is wild. Then I ended up spilling one while I was getting into my house, because the cup was so tiny, it literally slipped out of my hands, so there went $7. $14 used to be enough for a meal?? I love Anaya’s, and the server was very understanding and kind, but come on. I was expecting the usual size, and even then I was like yikes $7 for a hot chocolate, but then to get these tiny cups… I held up my garage key next to the cup so you can reference the price.. It is barely larger than a key for $7 each! This is just not ok. You’re going to price out your customers that love your food and establishment and want to support you.
Spacious, clean and decorative dining space. Attentive service. Dishes had good presentation, were priced on the higher end, yet it lacked all the right flavors. Food did not sit well with my party.
We went yesterday with family to enjoy good food and time together. My sister in law brought in her own food due to dietary restrictions. We all ordered appetizers, drinks and our food. There were no signs posted anywhere about no outside food allowed. The manager waited until after we all got our main dishes to come over to say that she couldn’t have outside food due to their policy. He didn’t ask why she had outside food. We asked for the bill and had them take away what hadn’t been eaten. We understand policy, but they could have said something before everything was brought out. The waiter was super sweet and apologetic. This was a race discrimination as we were the only table that was African Americans. The manager was welcoming and talking to every other table that was of other ethnicities. The portion that we got a bill for was not cheap. We left and went down the street to Amigo’s where there was a warm, comfortable atmosphere, they were accommodating with the outside food and the prices were much for budget friendly. If you want a good place to eat that welcomes everyone with good food, don’t go to Anaya’s go to Amigo’s
Review for Anaya’s Restaurant, Pasadena February 13, 2026 I avoided Anaya’s for a while because I had heard mixed reviews, but I was in the area tonight and decided to give it a fair shot. I truly wish I hadn’t. I walked in through the back entrance around 7:00 PM and approached the host stand. The hostess was collecting cutlery, walked around the stand, and casually asked how she could help me. I asked for a table for one and was seated. And then… nothing. It took about 15 to 20 minutes, so around 7:25 to 7:35 PM, before anyone even acknowledged my existence. I could see staff talking and eventually discussing who would be serving me, but no one actually came over. I waited patiently. About five minutes later, a man brought chips and water. Then again, nothing. Another 20 minutes passed before anyone came to take my order. By that point, I no longer had time to eat. When someone finally approached the table, I told him I would just have a drink. He apologized for the delay. I ordered a cocktail called “La Passion.” It was $18. What I received was hands down one of the worst drinks I have ever had in my life. It tasted cheap, poorly mixed, and nowhere near worth the price. Certainly not mid grade liquor, let alone anything premium. After finishing what I could tolerate, I asked for my ticket. No one came. My card sat on the table for at least 10 minutes. No server. No check presenter. No acknowledgement. Eventually, I got tired of waiting, put my card back in my wallet, and left a $20 bill on the table just to close out an $18 drink and get out of there. I originally wanted to try the food. I never even had the opportunity. And while I never want to immediately attribute poor service to race, it is hard not to notice when you are the only person of African American descent in the room and also the only person seemingly invisible to the staff. Everyone around me was being helped, served, and checked on. I was not. This was not just slow service. This was neglect. From start to finish, it felt disorganized, inattentive, and frankly disrespectful. Anaya’s had one job tonight, serve a single guest. They failed at that completely. I will not be returning.
