Which Wich? Pasadena Reviews
First time at the spot. Recommended by a Pasadena native. It was friggin’ fantastic! As a sandwich connoisseur (yes, I said it) this restaurant was head and shoulders above most sandwich shops. We arrived at the shop just after the lunch rush which was accidentally but perfectly timed. There is construction going on in the pass through hallway that the shop is connected to but still open. Parking wasn’t a problem either. The small shop had bar, pub, and table seating. We were able to walk right up to the counter and order our sandwiches: two turkey supreme on squaw and a New Yorker. (Note: they also sell deli meat by the pound if you want to make your own at home sandwiches.). I love a sandwich shop that offers squaw or brown bread. It is my all-time favourite! The woman who helped said it would be about 15 minutes so we had a seat. They were done with our sandwiches in about 6 minutes. Once home I am happy to report that my sandwich had no condiments or sauces on it as I requested. Yes, I’m that person. I was stunned to see how thick the sandwich was but I am not complaining. We each devoured half of our sandwich and were stuffed. The turkey supreme was SO DARN GOOD! I can’t remember the last time I had a sandwich that I couldn’t stop thinking about but this one definitely fit the bill. Well done, PSC!
Above the counter here, there is a plaque dating from March 2015 congratulating Pasadena Sandwich Company on 20 years of operation. So I guess they have added another 10 years to that, making it 30 years. I am not surprised -- at the shop’s longevity, I mean. The quality of the food here, not to mention the friendly staff certainly merit a 30 year run in Pasadena. This was my first visit and I did not know what to expect, but I looked at their menu online prior to the visit and saw that they served genuine Reuben sandwiches. So that's what I ordered. My sandwich arrived on gently toasted delicious rye bread with corned beef mounded high on the bread, Swiss Cheese, sauerkraut, plus mustard and horseradish per my preference for this classic. Sorry folks, I just can’t hack Russian Dressing on anything, particularly an innocent sandwich. Alongside there was a pickle spear, the way it should be. I also picked up a bag of chips to gnaw on with my sammich. Sadly the only thing missing was a cold Pilsner beer.to wash it down. Oh, what a lovely sandwich it was: juicy, flavorful, redolent with pungent sauerkraut and mustard.. I have not had such a splendid Reuben in years. While he was preparing my order, the friendly fellow behind the counter asked if I like spicy stuff (I had asked for spicy mustard and horseradish.) “Yes,” I replied, “Love it.” “Well I have some Ghost Pepper cheese here, I’ll put a slice on your plate so you can try it.” Wow! This place just vibrates on another frequency compared to what I am used to. The sandwich was huge, everything about it spoke care into the universe and I knew the minute I tasted it I would be back for more.
Small hard to find shop with limited parking. Limited hours. Not to mention it was crowded during lunch hours. With that said they have amazing customer service. More importantly, they have incredibly huge, and tasty homemade sandwich. The food is worth having to deal with all the downside of coming here.
Great sandwich place, old school, impressed. I had the Virginian (pastrami/turkey on rye). Fresh bread, very good meats and generous serving. For $5, you can add a very small serving of potato or macaroni salad and a medium drink. The potato salad was a little dry and tasteless. Free drink refills. Parking is limited, and the available dining area is small, but OK, if you arrive after lunch time. Recommended.
This place has crazy sandwiches. I love it. My good friend brought me here and I've been thinking about going back since.. it's a little pricey but worth every penny it seems. I ordered The Chicago. Corned Beef, Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Cold Slaw, Russian Dressing, as a triple decker on Rye bread🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best sandwich/deli I've had in LA county. Everyone raves about Canter's and Langer's, but not only does PSC blow them away on price, and the quality of food, they are in a class of their own when it comes to service. So glad I found this gem and can't wait to return soon. 10 stars out of 5!
The service is great and the sandwiches are great! While we were waiting to order a worker gave us sliced oranges for our son and they even brought out our order when it was ready. We had the Chicago and a custom turkey sandwich both were very good! I just recommend passing up on the macaroni salad. It was kinda dry and bland. We will definitely be going back and looking forward to trying the other sandwiches!
Now this place knows how to make one he'll of a rueben sandwich. It was meat packed and the bread was fresh. I do wish they would have added a little more thousand island, but that's OK. :) I wasn't a fan of their potato salad, but that negligible when you consider how perfect of a sandwich they give you. Staff even came out at one point and gave some fries on the house. The atmosphere was also very cute. I'll be a repeat customer moving forward! It's a little hole in the wall, but it's worth the search.
Genuinely, a real treasure of Pasadena. About 9 years ago I went to a job interview where the interviewer INSISTED we went to PSC, and I've been hooked ever since! I wish I had discovered it sooner in life :) John, the owner, goes above and beyond. We recently ordered catering and it came on time, the food and fixings were perfect, and our family was thrilled with how packed the sandwich was. John even called to check if everything went well. Liz Lemon on 30 Rock once said "All of humankind has one thing in common: the sandwich. I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich" - and this place truly embodies that philosophy. Don't eat at a Subway, or a Jersey Mike's - no. Pick a local family owned business that provides quality food at reasonable prices. Eat here. You won't regret it. And if you do you probably don't like sandwiches anyway!
Tried everything on the menu so now it's usually "Trust the Cook" for me and it's always so good. It's so good I make it a point for me to walk back inside and let the cook know how delicious the sandwichs are. Service is always on point and you can't help but feel so good when you show up, eat there, and when you leave.
This is an institution! There’s sushi chef that master the art of sushi making, there’s baristas that master the art of coffee brewing and mixing. There’s mixologists that master the art of alcoholic alchemy. These beautiful people have master the art of sandwich making, you must try it at least once, you owe it to yourself. “Trust the cook” go for it, be adventurous, live a little and order something random. (Trust the cool is the name of a daily sandwich where you get what the cook wants, but it’s always god)
I was out Pasadena way, and I always ask the locals where to eat. My client recommended the Pasadena Sandwich Co. I really liked the look and feel of the shop and the service was prompt and friendly. I opted for the "trust the cook" option on the menu as that's always the best and most telling place to start when trying a new restaurant. I was not disappointed. It was a mountain of meat and bread. I thought it was quite tasty and a good value for the price. The only critique is that the pastrami was a little more stringy than I would've preferred but not so much so that I removed it. If you're hungry in Pasadena, give this shop a shot
The sandwiches deserve 5 stars. Been here a few times and have never been disappointed with the food. Knocking a star off for the long wait I had to get 4 sandwiches. It took 30 minutes! Others ahead of me got their sandwiches before me. Not sure what the reason was for the delay. None was offered when I asked about my order. I'll still come back but if this happens again I'll revise my review further downward.
