Taco Dive Bar Peekskill Reviews
Delicious tacos. I had the adobo chicken taco with mango salsa and my teen daughter had the beef taco. We also ordered a side of guacamole and a beef empanada. Everything was perfect. When I saw that the price of 1 taco was just under $7 I was concerned but it was filling and well worth it. Wish I lived closer. I highly recommend.
We sat outside since it was such a nice night. My wife order the rice and chicken bowl. I had the pork al pastor taco and a shrimp taco. I enjoyed both. The pork taco had so much meat you could barely close the taco shell. The shrimp taco was so good I ordered a second one. I that for the smout of food you received the price paid was responsible.
Took some friends from our of town here last weekend, all of us were impressed! We ordered the four dip appetizer and it was so good, chips were really good too! The birria tacos were amazing, chicken tacos, also great, the corn was delicious and there's a burrito with mushrooms that actually really works!!! I had the spicy margarita and loved it! Our server was a young lady and she was so nice and funny, she put up with four old friends catching up and razzing each other. It was overall a wonderful evening there. We'll definitely be back!
Arrived as they opened at noon on a Saturday. I had the Huevos Rancheros brunch special. A nice amount of heat, overall score, Delicious! Everyone in my party commented on the excellent flavors of their dishes which included tacos, empanadas, and burritos. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The food arrived quickly, but not only for us. I observed several others who arrived after us and their food also arrived quickly. They gave us a military discount. I would definitely come here again.
I have seen this place from the Amtrak train a bunch of times. It stands out due to the bright colors. The whole area with the Riverfront park adjacent is very inviting. The town is on the Metro North line so I am sure a bunch of folks from New York City make their way here. The food was as good as any Mexican restaurant I have been to. Service, attentive and quick. Interior decor was bright and fun also. I will definitely be back.
Not authentic at all but unique and creative in their dishes. Every dish I tried was something I hadn't had before. (Besides the guacamole and that was on point, with fresh onion.) Everything was cooked well and was very flavorful. The drink selections are decent. The location is pretty cool. You get great views of the Hudson River and mountains from almost every seat in the house. It's right next to the Peekskill train station but the noise is negligible since they don't run that often.
Nice spot to come for a drink of any kind, family friendly, vibrant, sunny spot, facing the Hudson River. I had their smoked pork belly taco, and it held up well with the warm corn tortilla. The sweet glaze complimented the crunchy chicharron (pork belly). I can taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The pork belly was perfectly flavored with the right crunch factor. However, I would have liked a little more glaze to balance the fat of the guacamole. I asked for a wedge of lime on the side and it helped cut through the fat. Margarita was good, but I felt it was missing something. The Tres Generations Pina Paloma was delicious! Perfect balance of pineapple and tequila, and I'm telling you it creeps up on you. Service was good. Waitress or hostess could have been a bit more smiles, but she was not rude. The Manager was very attentive. Overall, nice place to visit. I will be coming back to try more menu items :)
Food: Flavors are amazing for everything. The food portions we got were more than we expected which was great. In the past the poetion sizes were questionable. The salsa and guac sizes complimented the chips well. Chips maybe to salty for certain people and if you are not a salt person... Ask them to hold the salt on your chips. Salt lovers will enjoy the large salt crystals and robust flavors. The tacos come in many different flavors, the bbq brisket is amazing, the shredded chicken is very tender, the shrimp tacos were so delicious. Service: was friendly, polite, timely and great. Space: it's very NYC boutique restaurant styles so expect closeness to others and expect it to be busy and loud. If you are looking for a relaxed place there are other places in the area. It is very robust and lively. I would Recommend this experience and I would visit again. I've been here and handful of times.
The food was great and they have a variety of beers, the place is conveniently located next to the metro north station. However the service was slow and they add 20% gratuity automatically to every check. We were a party of 2 and when I was going to tip I noticed they already added a fee. As far as I understand gratuity is usually added to large parties in NY restaurants.
Did a nice hike nearby at Anthony's Nose and decided to come here for lite bites afterwards to refuel. Restaurant was not packed at 2pm and they had plenty of empty tables inside but they didn't give us a table. They suggested a tight two seater behind the door which we declined. We opted for bar seating instead. Blackened Wild Cod Taco No matter what you get DO NOT GET THIS! The cod taco came about half hour later with barely any cod but plenty of veggies. They charge $6 for this taco. Totally not worth it if there's barely there cod. Pork Carnita Taco This came much quicker than our first cod taco. This only took about 5 minutes. The pork Carnita taco was much better and decently tasty. In hindsight, we should have skipped the cod taco. The bartender was super friendly and drinks came fast but I think the kitchen didn't have their sh*t together hence the half hour cod taco wait. It's located by the water and right by the amtrak train track. Not sure if there's a stop right here though.
Quality of the tacos were pretty good. Tacos are about 6 to 7 $ each. They come with an approximately 4 inch tortilla and your choice of protein. They do overstuff them. But I felt they are bit on the expensive side for what they are. Honestly, I rather eat four tacos that are $3.50 each at 14$ somewhere else. Unfortunately, the service sucked. The waiter had an unfriendly demeanor from the start. He glared at me as I came in through the door, but then didn’t bother to say hello. He then proceeded to be unfriendly and unpleasant throughout my visit. But the straw that broke the horses back was when he started to yell at me to “hold on ! Hold on!” When I simply asked for the check. So to summarize….decent tacos that are too expensive with bad customer service. I wont be back.
I used to love, love, love Taco Dive Bar, and was always happy to take people there or suggest it as a meeting place. The food was delish, the presentation was great, the whole vibe was awesome. Now it feels infinitely less like a cool spot/“5th borough” than a somewhat upscale and absurdly expensive Taco Bell that serves margaritas, for which you will pay out the nose and not get salt on the rim of the glorified water glass they’re served in unless you specifically ask for it. Gone is the giant jug of “Spicy Mamas” behind the bar and the spicy mama who was so proud to mix one up for you. And if you order some classic quesadillas, on a sunny Saturday afternoon, you will get said quesadillas perfunctorily slapped on a plain white plate, with a steel thimble of sour cream, and absolutely nothing else—no garnish, no thimble of salsa, not even an offer of a jarred hot sauce. Basically an utterly boring grilled cheese, made (I’m guessing) with industrial pre-shredded cheese, if they don’t actually come pre-assembled out of the freezer…no cotija or crema. No one is cooking behind the line next to the bar that used to be the source of yummy smells and the vitality of hot-off-the-grill creations. I don’t even know where the sad quesadillas came from. Our bartender, a young woman studying for her master’s in psych with the goal of working at Ryker’s, was charming and attentive. The vibeless, starched-white-shirt-and-black-shoes boss-like man behind the bar was efficient and utterly lacking in charm, on the other hand. $46 for crappy quesadillas and 2 “classic” margaritas. I keep saying I won’t return, as each time I’ve visited Taco Dive Bar since the pandemic, it’s been worse. But this time I’m really done.
