Cascade at Costanoa Pescadero Reviews
This restaurant offers one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever experienced. Our waitress, Erin, went truly above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. She actually moved our table right next to the water so we could have the perfect view—something I’ve never had a server do before. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Erin stood out as one of the absolute best. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our lunch special. Highly recommend!
Incredible outdoor dining, and an incredible date night! We had the artichoke hearts and oysters as appetizers and my girlfriend’s main was the beef ragu and I had the cioppino. Everything was fresh, very tasty and couldn’t have been any better!
What a great discovery. Located near the ocean and Surrounded by the eucalyptus grove. The whole area is just wonderful. The restaurant himself has lovely indoor and outdoor seating. Fireplaces and fresh flowers make it even more perfect. The food is outstanding too! Love every bite I had. Oysters a fresh and come with tasty accompaniments. And that Cioppino (seafood stew) is a must 😍 service also was great. Fast and friendly 🫶🏻 definitely coming here again!
Was here a corporate event and had a sit down dinner one night in this restaurant. Was expecting mediocre meal but the experience was totally different. First the menu was pretty extensive and everything looked good, and actually tasted pretty good. Our party ordered different items on the menu (roasted salmon, Brussels sprouts, artichoke) but the best was undoubtedly the winner winner chicken, which was really good fried chicken that is offered only on certain days. Definitely worth visiting when in the area.
it feels like an upscale place, but with a very relaxed and inviting aura. The food was great too. We had the crab cakes, calamari, chicken strips (for the kid), a big seafood platter with crab, fish, shrimp and clams, banana bread pudding, and lastly a short rib pasta. Everything was good. If you're on highway 1, this is a worthwhile stop for sure.
Ate at the bar. The chicken sandwich was really good. Lots of space outside on a good weather day to enjoy the space. They get quite busy so if you don’t want to eat at the bar, you may need to reserve in advance.
We have driven by a million times only to think it was a restaurant that was either very expensive (fancy sign) and/or for guests only of the resort. Today looking for a beach to go to I decided to go to the website and look at the menu, it was reasonably priced and when we got there the portions were very good sized. Not to mention, Patsy who served us was super friendly, great suggestions and even brought another plate to separate the salad from my chicken and waffles. She is a pro! My spouse and I both enjoyed our food, the service and the Bloody Mary's were delicious too. We finished up with a small walk around the grounds and we are definitely coming back with friends for food and may be a get away. Thank you!
Lovely place for dinner. If you sit outdoors, you can see the ocean at a distance or beautiful grounds. The focaccia bread with artichoke butter, crab cakes and clams linguine were yummy.
Stopped in for a light lunch. Ate at the bar, the bartender was really nice. Had the tuna poke and roasted Brussels sprouts split between 3 people. Great prices, it wasn't crowded at all, very close to the light house.
Delicious food and super friendly service make this a great spot for a meal. The tomato bisque was hearty. The warm goat cheese and beet salad was delicious. What a great place!
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent prices.
Went there to celebrate a birthday. This is beautiful restaurant in a beautiful space and rustic look. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. I wish I took more pictures! Their service is really good and very sweet staff. Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich and the breakfast pie. Perfect date place including the drive to the place
This is truly a hidden gem. Stopped here for lunch. The “Dirty Fries” were delicious!Made with fresh ingredients and chopped up garlic. Simply exquisite! Our waitress Patsy was fun and provided excellent service. The burger was great and the salmon avocado 🥑 toast just as delicious! Highly recommend. This place is literally off the beaten path. Worth the drive. Just off PCH.
Lovely staff with great location and good views. I got huevos rancheros and enjoyed them and loved the Irish coffee.
Food is pretty good for a restaurant in hotel. Need to staff up though for holiday as it was clearly slow due to understaff with a full restaurant in holidays.
The dishes were prepared with many detail and balanced flavors.
Our service was excellent everyone was so nice and the food was delicious. Such a hidden gem all the produce tasted like it came fresh from a farm. Definitely adding this to my list of favs for when I am visiting the coast.
Excellent food and drinks and our server Sonya was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the resort and we will for sure be coming back.
We have eaten here many times, the food is always great. Service can be slow at time. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed the scallop entree. The sauce was fresh and just rich enough, but not heavy. The scallops were mid size and perfectly cooked. The homemade squid ink pasta was divine, perfectly cooked tender, and delicious! Service could have been more attentive.
Very high quality food - seafood was fresh which is a rarity especially in such a remote location. Everything was delicious and absolutely worth the money - reasonable pricing! We got the holiday paella with seafood on New Year's Eve.
We arrived without reservation and were welcomed very warmly and requested a table with a view. Erin, our waiter did us one better and moved a table and 3 chairs outside on the lawn for us to eat at. Food was great, view was great and Erin was amazing. Thank you!
Been going to Cascade for years. It’s under new management and has a new menu. I had the BEST meal I’ve ever had! I am vegan and they now offer vegan options. I no longer have to finagle something to eat. And it was GOOD, and filling! Roasted Cauliflower with Lentils with Garlic Tahini Dressing.) My husband had a kale salad with a peanut sauce dressing. He added grilled chicken. Jim, the bartender, is second to none. A kind, thoughtful and outgoing guy who pays attention to the details. Frankie went out of his way to make an excellent cappuccino while Jim was busy. Luis is the chef that has created a menu which is leveled-up and delicious and Cascade’s pastry chef is excellent! Laurel, the food and beverage manager, is keeping the place running smoothly after the recent ownership transition and continuing to help make it a draw. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!
While visiting Costanoa with my husband we dined at Cascade and really enjoyed our meal! We tried the sticky ribs, miso caesar, bacon wrapped dates and crispy fish tacos! The sauce on the ribs was unique and tasty and the crispy fish tacos had really nice halibut inside. Service was quick and friendly and we enjoyed our cocktails as well! Breakfast burritos the next morning were good too. We'll be back!
Had a fabulous experience at this cozy special restaurant! The seafood pasta is out of this world. My hubby had a bowl of clam chowder which he felt was best he had ever had. The manager Alex was great. Checked on us multiple times. The staff were friendly and efficient! We had a table by the fireplace which was so romantic. What a perfect evening. Highly recommend this little slice of heaven on earth!!!!!!
We came here several times while glamping in costanoa with our 3 year old and friends. The food was ok. My wife got the chicken pot pie. It wasn't super flavorful. I got the shrimp. It was pretty good but the salad it came with was super boring. The bread was very good. We ate like 2 loafs each visit. To drink I got the blackberry whisky. It was a little too sour for me. The service was great.
Stopped for lunch on our way down the coast. Artichoke Fritters were good. Just ordered sandwiches and fries. The crab cake sandwich was good. Boys enjoyed their burger and french dip. The view from outside is beautiful. The dirty fries were not that exciting. Too much raw garlic, I could not taste or see and rosemary, and they were served with ketchup not aioli.
So glad we found this restaurant on a day trip to Pescadero! It's literally a hidden gem due to its "off the beaten path location". The restaurant's interior decorum was in-line with its camp ground atmosphere, yet offered a mature, classy environment. The food was good, except the hamburger meat tasted processed, not fresh, lean ground beef (minus a * for that), but the drinks, desserts and my husband's chicken sandwich were really good! The most outstanding aspect of our visit here was the customer service. Everyone was polite, attentive and professional at all times...Big shout out to our waiter, Christian!! He was AWESOME!!!...We'll definitely eat here again when in the area!
Ok if you're staying here im sure the extra star would apply. The food was good but not stand out, i liked the hot bread. Dont sit next to the mirror by the door as its not only a lil chilly but the constant comings n goings of peeps is distracting. Especially the kids that for no reason whatsoever like to hold the door open like their hot flashing and need the evening cold to cool themselves. Its also kinda loud. I had the pot pie and couldn't say for sure if the meat was actually chicken (it was good just indistinguishable) ordered a side of jalapeno mac n cheese and it never made my receipt or my table. I will have to say it was a holiday weekend and they were certainly busy. I saw glad i didn't order the crab mac as i would have been really upset to pay $28 for what amounted to lil more than a $5 bowl of mac n cheese with maybe some crab in it. Its a lil pricey and there are lots of kids so heads up. Also had the wedge salad and the cheese plate which purchased together made a decent meal of a salad but id also have to say not much of a cheese selection and nothing that wows.
Camped here so and had a minute away from the family to try the cioppino. First the setting is great and the food is 5 star. The 1 star removed for the staff. Customer service should be better from a place like this.
Stopped in to try it out we got 3 different burgers 🍔 and all of them where amazing !! We where to only people in the entire place so it didn’t take long to get them.
Nice decor and good service. - yogurt parfait 4/5 (a bit too sweet) - California omlette 4/5 (I requested salsa on the side but it wasn't good)
Been to Cascade several times, food quality has - as of late - gone down hill. The special of the day was Halibut but it was overcooked and dry. The real travesty however is that they had "blueberry cobbler" which 3 of our party ordered. The server brought over "three blueberry cheesecakes" and we clarified we ordered the cobbler. He quickly followed up with "oh this is the cobbler, we don't have cheesecake" and then put down the dessert pictured. It looked fine but I don't like cheese cake and it's not what I ordered. The server insisted that this was "blueberry cobbler". When they dropped the check they kept all 3 "blueberry cobblers" on the check and clarified that it was actually "blueberry cobbler cheesecake". This is despite early saying they only had cobbler and no cheesecake and my "cobbler" being untouched (aside from a tiny to taste to ensure I wasn't hallucinating that it was in fact cheesecake). I had to find a dessert menu and take a picture on the way out because the only explanation for this bizarre behavior was that cheesecake was in the description and we all missed it. That picture is attached as well. You tell me - would you order that and be happy to get a slice of blueberry cheesecake? I was not.
They DO NOT have clam chowder on the menu anymore. Came here reading a review that there is clam chowder, and possibly the best in the area. They are under new management and the clam chowder is nowhere to be found. Sad. Giving this rating in the hopes that the new owners bring it back. Otherwise this place is gorgeous and they staff are warm and kind. I got tea and walked around with it. If they bring back the soup they were once known for I’ll change this review.
I made a reservation six weeks in advance for 7:15 PM on a Friday. We were guests at the lodge. We arrived at 7:16 PM to the restaurant and we were informed by the young woman she "had no tables", despite our reservation, but we could sit outside. It was cold and no one was outside. She eventually found a high top by the “bussing” Station. Within a few minutes, the table for two at the fireplace was open. I inquired from our very nice server Erin if we could sit there, and she was told by the hostess "no" it was reserved. They seated a man who left after five minutes and the table remained open for the rest of the evening. Strike one star. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad. We could find a bushel of kale, one goat cheese ball, and very little beets cut into miniscule size, although it was very good. I would hardly call it a goat cheese and beet salad. Strike 2. Lastly, I ordered the braised beef pappardelle. What I got was beef stew over noodles. (Stew /pot roast was also on the menu) And it was far too salty Strike 3. The redeeming factor was our excellent server Erin who made the evening very pleasant. They also have a nice wine list. If I return, I will definitely try something else. My adult daughter had mushroom ravioli which was pretty good. The waitstaff/hostess needs to be trained in how to manage her room properly. When I informed her I had a reservation, she said "everybody in the room has a reservation", as if that was an excuse for not keeping a table for our reservation. I had three confirmation texts from the restaurant in advance. It’s a very pleasant setting, which makes up for everything. BTW There is only one vegetarian entrée option.
Was there in june Not very great menu options I should of had a burger instead of rib cheese sandwich 🤪desert was good , they did sing happy birthday was nice , the location is gorgeous
Before this weekend I would have rated a 4, but this weekend was bad at a 2, so I'm settling for a 3 overall. This was the first time we didn't enjoy our experience. We were seated by the side door next to the stairs. While we were waiting for our food a very busy server told us in passing we need to move our table so he can easily carry the food upstairs. So thinking that staff would move our table we waited, then we had to move our own table. We lifted the table and moved it over along with our chairs. My salad was so drenched in dressing I couldn't eat it. I ordered steak frites with a peppercorn demi. The sauce looked like melted American cheese, was thick and didn't have any peppercorns (not sure what the sauce was). My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and he said it had zero flavor. The bread was good but they pureed artichoke in the butter which made the texture and taste weird. My son at least liked his kids pizza and the fries were good. They were busy but we waited some time for plates to be cleared and were shown a small electronic tablet to sign for our bill. We had to ask if they had a dessert menu. Then we were asked to sign the small tablet where we couldn't review the bill for accuracy. I was really thrown off mostly by having to move our own table. We stay at Costanoa a few times a year and really hope this is not the new norm.
Beautiful outdoor space, but the service was slow and the menu was disappointing. It didn’t match the photos shown on Google. There was absolutely nothing truly appetizing to eat
Tldr; Pros - smoked steak was flavorful and accurately cooked. Cons - Most food was gross Long version: I called three times between 6 and 7 without an answer. I resorted to calling the front desk which confirmed they are open and do takeout. I arrived to order and they were out of braised beef which i found out after I tried to order it. I ordered the mushrooms, smoked steak, mussels and fries, and a side of Mac and cheese. The mussels lid was loose and leaked in my car. The dish had half clove size chunks of raw garlic. The mussels and sauce were ok, but nothing to recommend. The steak was delicious. The mash potatoes and broccolini it came with were unappetizing. The broccolini had little charing and had no sign of seasoning. The potatoes had nutmeg and maybe other Chinese 5 spice. Disgusting in potatoes! They could have done less and ended up better off. The Mac and cheese was flavorless, but we'll textured. The mushrooms were rubbery and close to uncooked. I ended up re-preparring that dish because it also had inch-thick slices of raw jalapenos on it and more large chunks of raw garlic. Who wants to eat that in that context? One of the worst dollar for quality experiences I've had. Props to the folks at the grill. Everything else was shameful.
Honestly, not impressed. The most appetizing part of the meal were the brussel sprouts we ordered for appetizers. There was a piece of tin foil I found in my dish and my husband pulled out multiple pieces of crab tendon in his macaroni and cheese..
There are new owners as about 6 months ago. The roasted Brussels sprouts were very good. The rest was very bland, and so so. The new menu is like a cafe. Servers were nice and helpful!
We had, hands down, the worst service of our life here. I won't bore you with too many details of the hours of insanity, but I will provide a few highlights. We watched an inexperienced staff spill food, ignore guests, and even dump an entire tray of drinks on a customer which they appeared not to know how to clean up (until the customer started bussing her own table)! The staff didn't know how to pour wine (except on the table, plates, and the floor which he never attempted to clean up), how to complete anything close to proper table service, spilled bits of everything everywhere, brought cold food to half the party, never returning to even check that the correct meals had arrived. They handed plates for others customers to pass down the table like an assembly line despite it being a round table in an open area. They never cleared a dish before bringing the next course, and so on. Several in our party ordered the skirt steak. No one ever asked how they wanted it cooked; however, when the food came, they asked which guest had the medium rare and who had the well done steaks (apparently the only two choices). Three others in our party received their meals 25 minutes later when they "figured out the button on their computer for that dish wasn't working." Of course if anyone had checked in after food was delivered to any of the tables, they would have known a lot sooner. There were still dirty starter plates on the table when we finally finished our meal. We tried repeatedly to give them to servers throughout the nightmare so we had space to eat, but they wouldn't take them. At one point the starter course was still being eaten when runners brought the main dishes. They literally stood next to diners with their meals and stared at them until they stopped eating and moved their own plates out of the way. They didnt have a clue what they were doing and no one seemed to care. We saw our server three times in two hours, once to take our order and at the end when he brought dessert (which he spilled) and to drop the bloated check. This was, without a doubt, the worst "nice" meal we have ever had, just astoundingly bad. Even after writing a polite email to the manager explaining our horrendous experience and why we were canceling our reservation for the next night, we never even got the courtesy of a single response, like... "Sorry that happened, we were having a rough night, or give us another chance." When your most basic service is so incredibly bad and ridiculously expensive, your customer service should be impeccable. This place made Dennys look like a 5 star establishment. Stay away.
What a mess this place has become. We definitely don't recommend it any longer. Seven years ago, the food was lousy, then it improved for quite a while, and now it's lousy again. We have eaten there an average of one time per week and have eaten most of the menu. Today's lunch for four at 2pm was our last. Music was really loud, more for the workers than the very few custoers. We asked our server if it was possible to turn down and had to make two requests to get it done. He must be a part-time bartender becuase it was clear he wanted to spend more time in the bar than waiting tables. The french dip said it came with horseradish sauce, which it did not. It was not possible to cut the sandwich meat, touted as "prime rib", because the meat was so tough. Inedible. I didn't even want to take a To Go bag for my dog, that bad. We requested steak knives which the server never brought; it wasn't possible to eat the sandwich without very sharp knives. The server got waylaid talking to the manager and did so for over 6 minutes without getting the knives or asking someone else to do so. We got them ourselves. Those clearing the tables have no concept of doing so quietly. Literally throwing silverware into bins on top of plates, it felt as if we were at the kitchen sink. Food quality, ambience, service, all zero. Better to drive another 15 minutes south to Davenport. So sad that this place isn't worth visiting.
We went camping here at costanoa and went to this restaurant three times for lunch. All three times the service was horribly slow, empty water glasses, no ice in the water etc. it took 35 minutes to get two sandwiches and they were ice cold. The fries were cold and hard as a rock. We sent it back, and when we got it again it was cold AGAIN. We didn’t say anything and just forced it down. The food itself wasn’t even good, it wouldn’t have been good even if it was hot. We thought this must be a fluke, so we went to try it again the next day. It was the same experience even with different menu items and different staff. Horrible service and cold food. Even when sent back it still came lukewarm at best. I should not be able to stick my finger in the middle of my fries or my au jus without any warmth at all. It wasn’t very busy during lunchtime either so I can’t fathom why it would take so ridiculously long to get cold food BOTH times. I will say the dirty fries are good- if you get them hot. The bar is great though the drinks from there are great.
Terrible service! Only four out of over a dozen tables were occupied and they still claimed they were busy and did not even wanna serve drinks while we waited.
Friday 2025 September 26. Rode over from Redwood City today with a friend specifically to have lunch here. Sat at the bar around 1:30pm, only one other couple having lunch at a table. Very poor unfriendly service. Asked for light beer and was told they didn’t have light beer only Mexican lager with an impatient eye-roll. Very limited menu. Ordered the crispy fish tacos $27 and so did my friend. Just simply awful, not crispy just deep fried greasy fish on plain tortilla. No follow up from the bar tender. Total bill $65.96. Not going back.
There is NO brunch anymore!!! Two mochas taking more than 30 minutes and they are undrinkable? Generally, good for lunch and dinner. However it seems they are going downhill on communication. Holiday weekend, Labor Day, and all you have are breakfast burritos? Seriously? With that teaser of a brunch menu still showing? Seems like you are missing the boat. Nice stay in a cabin and no delicious breakfast? Opposite of satisfied right now.
A beautiful restaurant by the ocean. Service is slow and not very efficient. I ordered a burger 🍔, costs $20, it comes with one patty, one slice of lettuce, and cold fries.
The new menu is horrible - even before tasting the food, which was tasteless and served cold during both dinners we tried - it lacks diversity and is nothing to get excited over. We used to love coming here, and we like the manager on site who is doing the best he can with a lot of unhappy customers (bad food and inexperienced waitstaff), but after hearing our waitress trash talk us to her coworkers, we won’t be back.
Don't come here. Our server Frankie was terrible. He didn't put in drink orders, was dismissive and rude when asked questions. He was rushing us out after it took almost an hour to get mains they were warmed up. Then brought out the saddest looking desserts that he "had to go get himself because the kitchen was so backed up". The restaurant was not even half full. I also want to touch on the food, the chicory salad had no chicory, it was radichio. Tasted fine but was hard to eat and honestly a small portion. The soup was fine but not worth $20+ dollars. Mains came out semi cold and small portions. Desserts where still frozen and sad looking because our server made them himself. After paying the check the food runner brought out another round of desserts that looked properly prepared and plated. We then listened to Frankie offer the table behind us 20 percent off for something after having a horrible experience, and being charged full price for stuff we did not receive. He was super hospitable to tables around us and so cold and rude to our table. Place sucks, Frankie sucks, bartender sucks. Don't waste your money here.
