I've been twice now and fall in love with this place even more every time. The dynamite lumpia has been in my dreams for weeks and is absolutely worth going for alone. The service is always impeccable, with a special shout out to everyone who kept my cups filled the entire night. I can't wait to see how they grow and evolve!
Absolutely loved Manong. So excited to have a new spot in the neighborhood and that it has delicious food and a great atmosphere! Can’t wait for them to start including coffee service in the morning (fingers crossed that rumor is true!)
Had a great experience at Manong! Everything we ordered was tasty and our server (Isaiah) was great and attentive. Super happy to have this in the neighborhood and can’t wait to go back!
So excited to have Manong in Fairmount bringing a new cuisine and concept to the neighborhood! You could really feel the Filipino-American 90s chain restaurant vibe they were going for throughout the food and ambience/decor. Our server Robbie was amazing and super attentive, all the staff we interacted with were great! All the food we ordered was amazing, our personal favs were the Loaded Potato Salad and Prime Rib. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
My first restaurant of 2026 is Manong in Fairmount! 🔥 An impressive new hotspot that's the perfect blend of casual and experimental -- a Filipino steakhouse that's fun and flavorful! Chance's second restaurant is another exciting culinary love letter to his roots!✨
Great food, service on point, and a buzzing vibe throughout! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu 🤤
Love the vibe. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is awesome.
another awesome filipino food spot!
My oldest sons birthday. A time was had!
This is solely for their new addition of cafe hours. I got the iced pandan latte and ube cinnamon roll. Both were soooo good. The pandan is a syrup. I LOVE the Pandan flavor so it was perfect. The ube latte looked good maybe I’ll try that next time. They’re starting breakfast/brunch menu in April from what the person at the register was saying.
The food was delicious and flavorful, the dessert delicious, my only suggestion would be to warm the roll they serve the icecream sandwich on. The drinks were fruity and delicious, Highly recommend this restaurant.
Manong exceeded every expectation. The ambiance is cozy yet modern, the staff warm and attentive, and the food… absolutely phenomenal. And a cool opportunities to choose your own adventure…a casual dinner with a burger and beer, or a decadent celebration with a perfectly cooked prime rib. Be sure to play ninja turtles while you’re there!
Overall excellent experience! The place was energetic, the service phenomenal, the cuisine outstanding. The vibe was energetic though the background music was way too loud; took away from having a casual conversation with friends at the table. Isaiah was our server; had a dynamite personality, made the evening extra-special, and was very attentive. The crew was very cognizant of each other, a very fluid operation that kept the pace and ensured the diners were having a great night out. The food was overall outstanding. The lumpia was cheesy deliciousness with pork, the shroom was overrated (a little cold and too salty), the crispy pork belly was heaven, the chicken incredibly moist with a semi-sweetness taste, the snapper's presentation was just as eye-pleasing as eating it, the potato salad was a nice addition though got mixed reviews from our table. Must finish with an ice cream sandwich! The final tab added up quickly (we did have drinks too); that noted, seemingly patronized by regulars and well worth a visit, definitely ask for Isaiah.
My favorite new restaurant in Philly! Fairmount neighborhood is lucky to have Manong! The owners could not be nicer folks and you can tell how much love they’ve poured into this place.
The food is so good. The lumpia deserves rounds. I could eat 24 of them. Good vibes, good drinks, everything is tasty!
Had a great experience and very happy to have Manong in Fairmount! Service was great, drinks and food were delicious. I can’t wait to get back and try more
Manong exceeded expectations! The salad side was the perfect addition to a luscious burger and crispy grilled chicken. Our server Robby was exceptional- they asked about the noise level of the speakers and were especially accommodating. We will be back as Fairmount regulars!
Came from DC to check this place out! Wonderful layout, thoughtful menu, great drinks and atmosphere.
So excited to have Manong in the neighborhood. We loved the burger, the cabbage salad, and the ube ice cream sandwiches
The food and drinks were delicious, the service was great., and the vibe was excellent.
Ordered half the menu, Everything we got was amazing
Absolutely Amazing!! Would highly recommend anyone in the Philadelphia area give it a try.
The lumpia and ube ice cream were the STARS of the show.
The lechon was amazing!!
What a fantastic experience. Everything we had was outstanding; seasoned to perfection!! I will definitely be back!
Did the prix fixe family style menu because we were a party of 10. Service was attentive, drinks were good, food came out in a timely manner. The standout dishes in my opinion were the beef stick tagalog skewers, the potato salad, the lechon liempo, the chicken inasal, and the pandan and ube ice cream + the mango sorbet. Shoutout to our server Charlie who was super attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, I was shocked my 4yo was having thai pasta (the super creamy pasta on the menu) for the first time and loved it so much she ate my whole meal. Atmosphere was great, great service, definitely recommend. The price of $50-$60 per person is accurate.
WOW! So excited to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood! It definitely lives up to the hype! Great atmosphere, really cool lighting, exceptional service from bartender, Shaka! Drinks and wine were spit on. Food was outstanding! We ordered lumping, bloom shroom, salad, super duper pasta and snapper. All delicious! Extremely impressed, especially since it was only their second night of service. Highly recommend!!
Absolutely loved our night at manong. Our server Ram was so incredible and attentive during our experience. The food was delicious, with my highlight at the end being the ube and pandan ice cream. Can’t wait to come back!
This is an absolutely amazing addition to the Fairmount neighborhood! The atmosphere is fun, the service is attentive and personable, and the menu is inventive and delicious! Can’t wait to go back to try some new things and definitely get the ube ice cream for dessert again. This is a great spot for when you want going out to dinner to feel like a night out.
Manong is everything you’ve been waiting for. The menu is creative and brings all of the delicious Filipino flavors you love from Tabachoy into this new and exciting concept. You must get the burger - it’s perfectly cooked and is quite simply, craveable. The creamed spinach was out of this world and I’ll be thinking about that dish for a long time. The mango ice dessert is the perfect way to end - it’s silky and creamy and so delicious. We cannot wait to be back!
Lovely new restaurant addition to the neighborhood (though I was devastated by the closure of Tela’s). Reservations are required. We got the bloom shroom and chicken and steak skewers for apps and the 1 lb burger and pork belly for entrees. Skewers were fine and we enjoyed the mushroom. Burger was delicious and cooked medium, pork belly was heavy and fatty. Garlic rice is a must get! 1 scoop of ube ice cream was the best way to end.
Pasta and the burger was my favorite. Place lacks personality and vibe but overall good for the opening. Rice was surcharge for the protein entrees. Some of the sharable wasn’t really shareable size.
Lots of pros and cons. The chicken entree was bland and dry. The fries were way over salted. The "garlic rice" was rice that had garlic added later. The music is a bit too loud (it's the base that's too much). The cold draft from the doors was bad (don't sit near the doors in winter). However, the bloomin shroom was great and the Lumpia (while nothing like actual Lumpia) was tasty. The cocktail and the ube ice cream were also good. Pretty good location. My wife and I decided we'll likely never go back but maybe just for starters and drinks. The entrees we had are not worth the price.
Great place with a modern touch to traditional Filipino cuisine. More spacious, busier, and louder than its smaller, humble (and also very good) original sister restaurant. Not too many veg options but it’s a Filipino restaurant so wasn’t expected. Lots of pork chicken and steak. The chicken skewers and lumpia were perfect. Be sure to upgrade your dish with the garlic rice!!
The food is phenomenal, but the entire menu is overpriced and the portions are very unsatisfying. I've gone twice and enjoyed everything, but after the 2nd time our group went to another restaurant because we were still hungry. The food tastes great, but it doesn't feel like a meal and there are other places nearby with good food at significantly better prices.
Good, neutral, bad I came in here with high hopes and leaving a bit bummed. For the good: the enoki mushroom (bloom shroom) was outstanding! Reminiscent of a blooming onion while holding its own as a mushroom. The San Miguel light beer - how can you go wrong but for $7 it’s priced fair. The neutral: the bourbon banana chai drink. I forget its name. At worst it’s a pretty flavorless cocktail. At best it’s a decent “old fashioned”. The bad: the lechon liempo (pork belly). For $30 it came out maybe luke warm and had incredibly hard pork skin. I should have said something, but didn’t incase this was how traditional Filipino pork belly is served, but after some research….no. It was not crispy, light, or crunchy. It was hard, reminiscent of biting through a hard sugar candy like a peppermint or brittle. Watch and listen to the video. I’m upset because I feel a chef should have recognized that is not a properly prepared pork belly and not served it. Overall I’m still willing to give this another shot down the line, but for the price, I’m not sure it was worth it.
Manong is the newest addition to Fairmount with a unique menu and inspiration from Outback! We loved the service and drinks, but found the ambiance and some dishes lacking. We ended up sitting at the bar because the tables were super close together, very glad we did. Eli, our bartender, was awesome. Very informative and helpful about the cocktails and dishes. The bar was definitely the move! For cocktails, we got the ube halaya and otso otso. I absolutely loved the otso otso, fruity but not overly sweet. The ube halaya was so creamy from the coconut. Top tier cocktails. For food, we started with the bloom shroom, their take on the blooming onion but with enoki mushrooms. It was battered and fried well, with the tops crispy and the base softer. The sauce was your standard ketchup/mayo + seasonings. It was executed well and presented beautifully. We also got the chicken and beef skewers. The chicken was tender but lacking a little flavor. The beef was chewy but had great flavor. I feel there are a lot of other options on the menu, so these could be skipped. The dynamite lumpia were so delicious. It was almost like a flaky, savory pastry filled with pork, jalapenos and mozzarella. The sweet chili sauce added a nice tang. We got the 1/2lb balong burger and fries which took 45 minutes to come out. Our apps came out very quickly, so there was 30 minutes between appetizers to entree which at that point, we thought they may have forgotten to put it in. The burger was very tasty though, a lot of sweet elements to it. Hawaiian roll, banana ketchup. Cooked medium and juicy. The fries were a total miss, oversalted and tasted like a frozen french fry you’d get at a grocery store. The ginataang kangkong also took 45 minutes. It’s essentially a creamed spinach and unfortunately it was so bland. The notes of garlic and shallot did not come through. Overall, I love the concept and innovative menu. I think the execution is lacking on some dishes, and the space needs a bit more of an ambiance, but there is a lot of potential! I hope they can work out the kinks and become a neighborhood staple.
Context: Went on the Wednesday night after opening weekend. They were busy but our server was still super nice and helpful. The food wasn’t bad, but for the price point, not worth it at all. I ordered the prime rib, and was disappointed in the quality for a $50 entree. It wasn’t hot when it came out, just lukewarm. The drinks were all fantastic though, except for the banana old fashioned, which just tasted like whiskey on the rocks. My wife and friend ordered the Enoki Bloom Shroom starter, which looked great but was burnt and tasted bitter. Lastly, the music was blaring the whole time and made it difficult to speak to each other. Overall, despite the good drinks and good service, we won’t likely won’t be back unless we hear good things about the improvement of the food.
Drinks were solid and the burgers were good. They ran out of the prime rib pretty early, which was disappointing since I was really looking forward to it. I was most excited to try the fried enoki mushrooms, but unfortunately they were a HUGE letdown. The tops were crispy, but the bottoms weren’t separated or thinned out, so they were extremely soggy and stringy when biting into them. They also had an earthy, dirt taste, which made it seem like they weren’t properly washed. I’ve had fried enoki mushrooms elsewhere with no issues, so I know this is something that could’ve been done better.
Food is pretty mediocre. Blooming shrooms were great but the portion was small. Chicken skewers weren’t anything impressive, lechon didn’t have much flavor, chicken dish was decent but the pasta was pretty good. Stick to southwest for filipino food. Great staff and service.
This is a place I’d only recommend once you’ve already worked through the stronger options in the area. The food is good enough, but the portions and overall experience don’t quite justify the price unless you have disposable income and aren’t especially concerned with value. Overall was pricey for small portion sizes and average flavors. Cocktails were not executed well (i.e. stirred cocktails were too booze forward and not stirred down well and lacked smoothness) but the red horse lager was a hit! The Bloomin Shroom Inoki Mushrooms were definitely the highlight and worth ordering and we very much enjoyed the ice cream sandwich on pandesal. The bathrooms were fun decor wise (look up for Applebee's). Otherwise, there was definitely something lacking from the presentation and vibes, meal felt rushed and ambinace/presentation was bland/sterile given it's Filipino roots. There's potential but the family style fun and draw that the usual Filipino restaurants inspire was lacking although I understand that they're trying to present something perhaps more 'elevated' Definitely give it a try!
Great atmosphere and service. The food I've had has been very good, but the portions are too small (especially the pasta) and the prices are too high to be considered the casual neighborhood restaurant it was originally marketed as. Very excited about the new cafe hours and hopeful the portions and prices are adjusted at some point.
Hits and misses in the menu. The skewers were amazing. The snapper was perfect. The cheesy lumpia is not a favorite and the bloom shroom was a miss. It was texturally at odds with itself. Drink program is incredible. Ambiance and music is early 2000s hipster energy. A little loud for date night but seems like it would be fun to hang out with friends. The staff is warm and welcoming. Overall a nice new addition with some room for improvement
I don't see the appeal of this restaurant. It sees itself as the Outback Steakhouse of what resembles Filipino cuisine mixed with a lot of other cuisines. But the prices are closer to fine dining. We ordered the pork belly entree for $50 and the whole snapper for $42 with a side of what looked like Russian salad (Olivier) with shavings of spam. Now, pork belly is one of the cheapest meats one could buy. I do love a good pork belly, but a full plate of nothing but greasy pork belly for $50 seems like a rip off. Imagine eating an entire plate of it, with no accompaniments. There weren't any healthier options on the menu, so I settled for the tiny whole snapper, which was grilled plain with no discernible spices, and served on a bed of mixed lettuce. The fish was dry, and there was barely any meat on it. The atmosphere is "Outback Steakhouse" with plenty of kids seated, but the lack of healthier, less greasy choices made me wonder what is the gimmick here? I'm curious how this restaurant will fare once the hype dies down. Right now it new and it's getting a lot of attention, but I can't imagine it will get many repeat customers.
Came here with a party of 6 and was left disappointed and underwhelmed. We were excited to hear a Filipino restaurant was opening close by to us, but the reality fell short from what we had hoped to get. We got the bloom shroom, lechon baka, lechon liempo, grilled snapper, balong burger, drink and ice cream. The bloom shrooms is good, probably the best thing on the menu we tried. Crispy, flavorful with a good sauce. Lechon Baka was fine, but the meat was a bit chewy, portion small, and given the price point I would’ve expected a small side along with it not just rice. It would’ve helped to add visual interest as well, vs just a slab of meat on a black plate. The pork belly skin was hard, not crunchy. The meat itself was tender, but over salted by a large margin with not much other seasoning. The fish was lacking flavor as a whole, couldn’t taste much other than a vague sour taste from what I assume is the calamansi. Burger was okay, and the fries felt like a no thought frozen add on. The burger was pretty pink in the middle but over cooked on the edges. It also lacked much of a sauce so it felt pretty dry. The flavors in the drink do not meld together well, I love a funky cocktail but it was not very good. The calamansi water ice was a bit overpowering, and one of my friends said it was so salty he couldn’t have much more than a bite or two. Overall the food was alright, and I wouldn’t normally be this harsh but if I’m paying 50+ dollars a person I’m expecting a certain level of quality that I didn’t feel I got. I love Filipino food and was excited to have one so close to where I live, but I don’t think I’ll be back unless there’s a turnaround.
Really cool environment, food was decent, poor service
Portions are small for the price. Fries were over salted. Half chicken was burnt
Music extremely loud. Food was uninspired at best and borderline inedible at worst. The pork belly was unseasoned and came in an unappetizing lump with a hard crust too thick to chew. The udo ice cream was good but the cream had split. I had expected far better from the people at Tabochoy. I will not be back.
The food was alright and nothing stood out or was super memorable. Overall, the food was mostly too salty. The most interesting dish was the loaded potato salad. Service was slow and could be improved. Drinks didn’t come out until after appetizers were finished. The server offered a refill but the refill did not come out until all food was already finished and we had already requested the bill. Our waters were also not refilled at all until after we requested the bill, which seemed pointless and a waste of water by that point since we didn’t even touch the refilled waters as we were about to leave.
