The Sicilian Butcher - Tatum Phoenix Reviews
I flew in from the east coast to celebrate my birthday with my twin brother. We settled on this place for our birthday dinner. As we wrapped up we were talking about the service and the food. But then came a surprise. They brought out a dessert assortment for our birthdays. I know I’m paying for dinner and I know it is a nice establishment. But there are some things you can’t put a price on. Feeling like family and feeling appreciated on a special occasion like this. I am so happy this is the place I decided to celebrate. A special thanks to Evan for the amazing attention and service.
Being a former New Yorker, who was raised most of his life in New Jersey I definitely know the definition of quality Italian food. The Chicken Parmesan is by far the best I’ve had yet since I moved out to the Valley back in 2010. I’m not quite sure how they do it, but they are definitely in direct competition with high-end Italian restaurants in Manhattan NY. I’m so grateful I live down the street from this fabulous establishment. When it comes to Customer Service, they are always spot on and truly deliver. Thank you guys for all your hard work and amazing quality food. May you continue this trend of make other customers happy like you’ve done for me so many times.
We have never been to the Scottsdale area and chose this through Google reviews. We arrived around 8:30 and they close at 10 pm. The reason I bring this up is during our meal we were watching them clean the kitchen area. They were being extremely thorough and that alone would have me returning. I had the margherita pizza with pepperoni, which is approximately 10 inches, and they give you a pair of scissors to cut it. Yes, scissors! My husband had the fazzoletti and it was a large portion as well. Our meals were delicious, our drinks from the bar were great and the service was extremely friendly. We will definitely return and try their other specialties.
Nothing is like mom’s cooking and this place is a close 2nd for an Italian restaurant in the middle of a desert. I went for lunch and the service was very attentive. Sorry the picture of pasta carbonara was after I almost finished it but that food was that good. Highly recommend if you are near one of these Sicilian Butcher restaurants. After lunch, went to the dessert shop and had a warmed sfogliatella (heaven) accompanied by a tight espresso. Looking forward to visiting here again.
We went back again. We love all different pasta, sauces, and meatballs. They were able to get us in on a busy Thursday night. We also tried the bruschetta this time, and they were delicious.
Our first time at The Sicilian Butcher tonight was a great experience. String lights and themed music on the patio made for a cozy ambiance. The food is amazing, service outstanding. Tonight our sever went above and beyond explaining dishes and making fantastic recommendations. He was on top of our drinks and made sure to keep our glasses full even with a busy night. We forgot his name though remember it began with a “J”. The gentleman bringing our meals to the table was extraordinary pleasant. Our table enjoyed the garlic bread, while the flambéed Saganaki was a hit with the kids. Cured meat and cheese board was on point, lovely presentation. The fresh pasta from the fazzoletti, to the lasagna and carbonara strozzapreti were delicious. Tiramisu was out of this world good, the cannoli were fresh and equally tasty. Definitely a new favorite! Good gluten free and vegetarian options too.
Food was excelent. Pasta is freshly made it tastes INCREDIBLE! We also did the meatball ferris wheel and every single one of them was exceptional in flavor. Great ambiance as well. We sat in the outdoor patio and the weather was amazing not too hot or cold 🫶💕🌵
Great food and awesome vibes here! Payton took care of us and made the experience even better, super friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend!
This place is a must stop whenever I am in the area. The food is phenomenal. The service is so personable. We love to sit outside and they have to toastiest heaters even in the cold months it is comfortable.
Was visiting from Michigan and this was some of the best Italian food I've had. Ambiance was great and good service as well.
We arrived at 3 p.m., so it wasn’t crowded and we were able to really enjoy the place. Ryan was our waiter and made our lunchtime very special. The food was spectacular — the easiest 5 out of 5 we’ve given recently!
This is a wonderful restaurant, with food you will enjoy and remember. Be sure to save room for a visit to their bakery, next door.
The canoli bar is stupifying. The bar has several flavors ranging from classic to a seasonal creme. In addition, you can chose from a variety of shells. Basically, these are the best canolis I ever had.
Jorel was the best waiter i have ever had. The food was amazing. He advised on what choices to make regarding the gnocchi and it was on point! Cannot recommend this place enough. The atmosphere is very cozy, the ambiance was lively and inviting. You will not be disappointed coming here!
Great food and service! You have to go to the bar for the happy hour deals so don’t miss out on some great food and drinks at a great price!
My husband and I chose this restaurant for its ambiance, the pasta & meatballs, which are outstanding, and the desserts! We were treated to italian cookies and a mini cannoli cart. Lindsey was our server, and she was great!
I been to Sicilian butcher on the west valley. This is my first time at the Tatum location. It's just as crowded at 8 pm. I invited my friend for dinner. This is her first time here. She never heard of Sicilian butcher. I ordered the shrimp and calamari for the appetizer. I ordered the meat ball and spaghetti. My friend ordered the bread with different toppings.. everything was delicious. The service was very good. The food was good. My friend loved the coffee there.
Known for the meatballs, although I've had better, decent for a restaurant standard. Connor our server was stellar, can't say enough good things he took service to a new level. The atmosphere was good. I would suggest the music be of a softer more Italian origin. Such a Dean Martin, it would help the music not compete so much with the patrons conversation. The cannoli Vespa trolly by far the hit of the night.
Try the meatball ferris wheel! What a fun option to try their different flavors! And the gnocchi mac and cheese was a-mazing! Service and food were both fabulous. Plus pleasant outdoor seating in a booth!
Fantastic steaks, Pizza and Pasta. Our server Jayden was one the spot with our food and refills of our drinks.
The place is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, quick service, and a good selection of food and drinks. Some dishes stood out like the saganaki, calamari, and pizza while others were just okay, but overall it is a fun spot with lots of options and a great vibe.
Amazing place. Recommended from Lil Rob from AirPark Dealership. Thanks Rob. Wife and I loved it. Wish we could have stayed longer. Loved the bread and butter spread, wife have Calamari and I had the Sicilian Sausage pizza. We will definitely be back. Very cool place. Great service.
What a fantastic restaurant! Our server Jeff was great, excellent attentiveness, hospitality and menu knowledge. Three of us shared the chopped salad and they put the salami on the side for us since my sister is a vegetarian. We also shared the pull apart garlic bread and it came out a little more well done than they liked so the manager Stephen brought us a new pull apart, garlic bread. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and so has my sister for years, and we were thoroughly impressed with his attentiveness to detail and wanting to make sure we had the best experience possible. I ordered the Fazzoletti and it was delicious! A pillow from heaven! The other manager Matthew was also very attentive. Probably one of the best DiningOut experiences I’ve had in the last few years highly recommend!
We have been wanting to try this place for quite some time! We finally made it there last night, and it was good. We were greeted and sat right away. Wait staff were in to of it. Our cups were never empty. We ordered the house salad, chicken parm plate, and Fazzoleti, and a small cup of fruit for our baby 👶 Everything was so good! And the fresh fruit was baby approved 😁
One of out favorite places to dine in and pastries are absolutely delicious! Priscilla was fantastic, very friendly and helpful!
Great place for a date or the full family. Love the bakery too for desserts after dinner. Appreciate your help Riley!!!
Wait staff was very friendly and the food was wonderful! They were prompt and gave us recommendations for the food we ordered as well.
Great food, quick and efficient service. I love their outdoor seating.
We were seated in the bar area and our waiter was very helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the chicken parm and a BYO pasta/meatballs. Everything was amazing. After dinner we stopped by the bakery and got a cannoli and a flag cake, both were delicious! The restaurant was busy but that did not take away from the meal. On a cool October night, the outside patio was busy and warm when we walked in. Highly recommend!
This place was super cute, the staff was great, the appetizers were the best part of the evening along with the drinks. We ordered the meatball ferris wheel which was absolutely amazing which so many varieties, The Nona Bread, and Croquetas. All very good with great flavors. When it came to order the entree I ordered the NY Strip which was completely void of any flavor and dry, the chimichurri sauce has no flavor whatsoever. It was such a disappointment. Luckily we still had plenty of apps leftover to fill the void.
What a great looking restaurant with lots of options to sit. Indoor, outdoor, bar, booths, tables. Jodie was very patient with me making choices. And everyone was familiar with the menu and sharing some of their favorites. Lunch specials are a great deal and good options too. My family went to pick out a good dessert as I fill this out. LOL Honestly, I can't move I'm so full and have leftovers of noodles with the best mushroom sauce! I'll be back
My husband and I came for the first time to try out some cannolis as we were craving them. We came up to the cannoli bar and met Priscilla. She was very patient with us, allowing us to have all the tastings of cannoli fillings we wanted, and the sweetest human. All in all, the vibes were extremely welcoming and homey. We will definitely be coming back!
⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phenomenal From Beginning to End The Sicilian Butcher in AZ absolutely exceeded every expectation. From the moment the food hit the table, it was clear we were in for something special. The calamari and shrimp served in that savory, aromatic broth—paired with the warm bread for dipping—was unforgettable. Then came the charcuterie board, beautifully arranged with incredible meats, aged Parmesan, silky whipped ricotta, and a bright, sweet fig jam that tied everything together. We had the meatball Ferris wheel on the second day ( yes we went back again!) and I loved the steak and sausage ones, the other were good as well but those were my favs. The homemade pasta was on another level—so fresh and perfectly textured it practically melted in my mouth. We had the Vodka paccherie and rigatoni bolognese. The main entrée, a perfectly cooked steak, was honestly one of the best I’ve had in years: tender, flavorful, and simply outstanding. We finished with the dreamiest tiramisu ( I want the recipe! ) and amaretto/ almond Italian cookies that instantly transported me back to Sorrento. It was the kind of dessert that stays with you. Every dish was flawless. If you want a meal that feels both comforting and elevated, The Sicilian Butcher delivers it effortlessly. Highly recommend.
The Sicilian butcher is lovely and has amazing food. I highly recommend the Parmesan sauce and the eggplant meatballs. We had such great service out on the patio. Also shout out to Avery and Priscilla for the cannolis and friendly vibes!
I visited here with a party of approximately 20 people and everyone endorsed being happy with the dishes that they ordered. I was told the men you highlight is their meatballs and they definitely did not disappoint. When choosing a pasta and meatballs dish one can choose from a number of sauces, different pastas, and different meatball options. I will definitely be coming back to sample others combinations in this part of the menu.
We were there to celebrate a birthday. The moment we walked in we received a friendly greeting and were directed to our table. Evan was our server and he was fantastic. He was so friendly, attentive, and made great suggestions. It was busy but we always had drinks refilled and were checked on as though we were the only table. The team supported one another which helped provide a seamless experience. The food was amazing. Evan went out of his way to make sure this was the best birthday celebration for my husband and his twin brother. Thank you to all who work here. Fantastic experience overall. Next time we are in Arizona we will be back.
Bought a number of different baked goods for the holiday celebrations. All were delicious and awesome. They need to keep their pastry chef(s) around. Quality ingredients as you could taste the difference. Reminded me of the old Italian bakeries in the Bronx and Brooklyn back east. You'll pay a bit more here for some nice desserts but it will definitely be worth it if you are set to impress. Highly recommend the baked goods. You won't be disappointed.
We make a point to come here every time we are traveling in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Today did not disappoint. We love their outdoor patio because they have really effective heaters for those crisp Arizona days in the winter, but you can still be outside. Tiana was our server. We had absolutely excellent service. Tianna took the time to really explain the menu and helped guide our choices. We were not steered wrong! The food was delicious. I had the Sicilian meatballs and my husband had the steak meatballs. Both were delicious. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the pastas or sauces. It’s really fun to make your own combination. Highly recommended!
A few colleagues and I came to this establishment for dinner and we ordered a few items ranging from meatballs to pasta mainly. Personally I had quite a few drinks but I didn't take pictures for all of them. They all tasted pretty good, honestly, ranging from the Passion Fruit Garibaldi to the Statue of David, which also looked quite worthy of photos because the drink was served in a porcelain container that was designed to look like the statue of David. That was quite the highlight. I didn't try any of the meatballs but my colleagues enjoyed the ferris wheel. Judging by the types of meatballs included, which were tomaso's meatball, sausage, eggplant, steak, chicken parm, and turkey, it must've been worth it to at least get. Personally I tried a few salads, and the Flora's Salad was pretty good, with my only constructive feedback as that the balsamic vinaigrette was a bit too strong to the point of heavily affecting the taste of the leafy greens specifically. It worked well with the tomatoes and artichokes, but not as much with greens and roasted peppers. The kale & apple salad had an adequate amount of balsamic included, and since it included candied walnuts, it balanced the flavor out well. My only constructive feedback is that adding protein to the salad would cause the price to skyrocket. Overall this was a good establishment to visit. While I am not sure when the next time I would return to Phoenix will be, I do see myself revisiting this spot if I am to make it back to the city.
My husband and I were in Phoenix for the weekend and craving Italian. The Sicilian Butcher came highly recommended, so we made an 8:00 p.m. reservation via OpenTable. We arrived right on time, our table was ready, and both the hostess and our waiter were exceptionally friendly. We had already studied the menu back at the hotel and went straight to ordering: two house reds and bruschetta to start. The caprese was exceptional, but the remaining three fell a bit short. We also didn’t care for the fact that they all seemed to have some sort of sweet component. The whipped ricotta, in particular, was overwhelmingly sweet—the honeycomb and pink peppercorns completely overpowered the dish. We split the three-meat fazzoletti, which was good overall, but unfortunately arrived lukewarm. We also ordered a chopped salad on the side, which was great—hearty, with lots of savory elements, and quite enjoyable. For dessert, we went with our usual favorite, tiramisu. Again, it was just okay— not very rich or indulgent, and it tasted like it had just been pulled straight from the fridge. Our espresso (to go) was also subpar and extremely bitter. The ambiance itself was very nice, and the entire staff was wonderful. Overall, a solid 3/5 in my book.
Overall a good experience. It's quite loud inside so sit outdoors if possible. The food was filling, the bread was a great choice for an appetizer for 4 people. Dinner was the short ribs, quite salty but otherwise tender and nice option if you don't like typical pasta dishes at Italian restaurants. Desert was probably the best part, so many options, the almond cookie that came with the espresso was a nice surprise.
Loved the main courses (pizza and pasta), but the bruschetta was just ok (except the ricotta and honeycomb which was delicious). Next time we might just get an extra pizza or pasta! The atmosphere was lively and fun and the service was excellent. Save room for the cannoli bar and gelato (and more delicious desserts!) next door in their sister cafe!!!
This restaurant is nice for a change. Food is ok at least for my experience it was a bit on a dry side. The waitress had a little attitude but that’s ok, it doesn’t impact the customer as much as impact the restaurant. The atmosphere is ok, the outside sitting needs remodeling and removing that plastic curtain as barrier from outside. It looks cheap and like a shower curtain mostly. However it was a nice dining I definitely enjoyed the Italian music on the background. Overall it was ok, I will probably return to give another try mostly for the food. Perhaps it was one time an ok experience.
I always enjoyed eating at Tomaso’s restaurant and was hoping his son’s restaurant would be as good. Sadly, it was meh at best. The place is very nicely decorated and our server was phenomenal. The first problem was – the website menu doesn’t match the in-store menu. How hard is it to update the website when you increase prices on the menu? Pasta, sauce and meatballs (on the website) is $22, while it’s $25 in the restaurant. There were many other discrepancies as well. That is bordering on false advertising. That being said, $25 in this day and age for a medium sized bowl of pasta with three large meatballs is a pretty good price. In fact, their prices in general are quite reasonable. They have a "build you own" dish, where you chose the pasta, sauce and meatballs. I think this is a very good idea. I chose the pappardelle with Bolognese and Tony’s steak meatballs. The sauce was actually quite good. There wasn’t enough of it to properly coat the pasta, but it had a good flavor. The pasta clearly wasn’t housemade, which I kind of would have expected from a culinary family of this caliber. The meatballs were clearly from two different batches as the first was delicious and the second was overloaded with black pepper. Other things our group had got mixed reviews. The saganaki and gnocchi were very well liked, while the eggplant meatballs were super salty and had a very weird texture. One guest had the meatball Ferris wheel and the only note was it was very difficult to figure out which meatball was which.
It was fine... I would say it's better than chef of Joey's Delicatessen. Overall it felt a little bit gimmicky the decor the menu.
I recently dined at The Sicilian Butcher and overall had a great experience thanks to the friendly and polite staff. They truly made the visit enjoyable with their warm service and attentiveness. As for the food, it was decent but nothing particularly stood out. A few dishes unfortunately came out lukewarm, and while the flavors were fine, I wasn’t fully impressed with the quality or presentation. That said, the welcoming atmosphere and staff made up for some of the shortcomings. I would still recommend stopping by if you’re in the area — it’s worth checking out and seeing for yourself.
I’ve visited many Italian restaurants, but unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. The food did not meet expectations. I’m not sure how al dente is defined here, but the pasta texture was not right. Honestly, my wife prepares better pasta at home using simple ingredients. The pizza was also very runny and soggy, which made it difficult to enjoy. I understand that every restaurant can have an off day, but this visit was far below what I expected. I hope the quality improves in the future. My wife asked the family that was sitting next to our table, they had complaints also about the food and the wine!
Personal Background (I ran an Italian pizzeria for 6 years of my life) Reason for Giving 2 stars : Atmosphere , Customer Service , Bakery … Reason for taking 3 stars : ain’t no way I paid $30 for the driest — and I mean DRIEST pasta I’ve had for a long time. First of all, in Italian restaurants like this your serving of pasta is pretty decent. I felt I was served a lunch serving and I ate the entire thing + wing stop because I was still hungry? That’s not crazy? I ordered alla vodka. It tasted like a dried up light marinara. I’m not to sure why high end restaurants are scared to season their food. I’ve never been this disappointed over a plate of pasta in god knows how long. Olive Garden does better. What a disappointment. I thought this was gunna be my go-to place. Scared to try to pizza, are yall hyping up cardboard? I’m just highly disappointed in a very high end place that doesn’t sell one item under $30. Everything else is extra. Want chicken parm? Pay for the pasta and pay for the sauce forget if you want a side salad. And I can get it with if the food was worth it — but this meal wasn’t worth $15. I just cannot fathom the meal I took home. No, I didn’t grab pictures which was very stupid of me. I was starved.
Ordered Tony steak meatballs and got some white mystery meat balls. May have been a chicken meatball or pork who knows. If you have a strict diet don’t eat here because they will just serve you whatever
Food was no where near real Italian cuisine. The 10 layer Bolonaise lasagne was made with ricotta not bevemel cream, the sauce was not even close real Bolonaise sauce, it tasted like they poured a can of tomato sauce on it. The pesto meat balls with pasta had very little pesto sauce mixed in and tasted like a pre packaged pesto not freshly made. I was raised in an Italian household and spent last June in Italy so I know REAL Italian food. This place is disgrace to Italy. The charcuterie board was pretty good though, a bit skimpy compared to what you get abroad. I'll give them that. Otherwise, go anywhere else and save some money.
