L'Osteria Aleramo Piazza Carlo Alberto Reviews
Las Barricas: A tradition that moves, but never forgets. An Insurgentes classic! Visiting Las Barricas was, for me, a trip back in time. As someone who spent wonderful evenings with my cousins at its old location in the San Rafael neighborhood, rediscovering this place now on Porfirio Diaz Street, almost at the corner of Insurgentes, was an extremely pleasant experience. It still retains that old-fashioned cantina atmosphere that makes it unique. I was invited by some friends to enjoy an American football game, and the experience was impeccable from beginning to end. What makes this place special is its traditional system: for every drink you order, you get a free meal, up to a total of four courses! 🍻 First Course: I started with a nice cold dark draft beer, accompanied by a succulent beef broth. Adding "all the bells and whistles" (onion, cilantro, and chopped serrano pepper) enhanced the flavor spectacularly. A hearty and essential starter. Second Course: On a recommendation, I tried the noodle soup. I was surprised by its authentic homemade flavor; it's comforting, and as a tip, I suggest making a noodle taco with a freshly warmed tortilla—a simple yet glorious treat! Third Course: Three suadero tacos arrived. I tried all three of the house salsas; although not overly spicy, they add a depth of flavor that perfectly complements the meat. To round things off, I ordered a Bacardi Blanco. I must say it's very well served, with its signature touch of lime. I couldn't leave without ordering the Chamorro Adobado. It's the true "gem" of the place: perfectly seasoned, the meat falls apart easily, and with warm tortillas, it's the perfect ending to any visit. We were greeted very kindly by the hostess, and our time upstairs was excellent thanks to David, our waiter. A very helpful and active young man, always attentive to our needs without being intrusive. I left with a great feeling and a happy heart, reminiscing about the old days in San Rafael. Las Barricas remains an icon and a must-visit for those who appreciate good service and food with a cantina soul. Highly recommended!
Luis provided excellent service; even though it was quite busy, he and another waiter made sure to give us our full attention. The food and drinks were delicious. It's an excellent place for a family meal, a business lunch, or simply a relaxing getaway. The prices are very reasonable. 10/10 value for money. Valet parking and metered parking are available nearby. *Reservations recommended*
The place is good. I visit it often with my wife and friends. When acquaintances ask me where we want to go to have a good time, my answer is the same. Good mixology, reasonable and not expensive prices, and excellent service from the very friendly staff. I highly recommend the tortilla soup, the shrimp soup, the arrachera, the mojarra, and their marinated/oven-baked chamorro (fried pork). It's a place where you can have a great time. There's music and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere (remember, it's a cantina).
A traditional cantina with a modern style. I love the food here; everything I've tried is delicious. What I love most about the place is the service and the seasoning of the dishes. I recommend making reservations for the weekends because sometimes you have to wait to get in.
I attended a family gathering and everything was very enjoyable. The menu is four courses, so if you want to finish the last course, take your time and allow plenty of space between each one. This is because the food is well-seasoned and the portions are generous, and if you order appetizers to share, I suggest not ordering too many. We had a couple of bottles of wine, plus some cocktails, which were well-served and quite good. The courses start with soups and broths, followed by noodles, rice dishes, and salads, then snacks like tacos, tostadas, chicken wings, or aguachiles, and finish with meats, breaded cutlets, fish, and more. There's live music, and the service from our waiter was excellent. I recommend making a reservation because it gets very busy even late at night; I understand they close around 2:00 a.m. We made a reservation, and they honored it perfectly. Without a doubt, I'll be back again.
Las Barricas offers a delightful experience for anyone seeking authentic Mexican cuisine in a vibrant setting. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by lively music that sets the perfect mood. The food is the star of the show, with each dish bursting with traditional flavors and prepared with care. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Las Barricas promises a memorable dining experience that captures the heart of Mexican hospitality.
A good place to spend some time with the family. The menu is served as a four-course meal, like any good bar, with each drink unlocking a new dish. There's a wide variety of dishes, but in my opinion, the food is sometimes a bit too salty. Considering the drinks they offer are cocktails, prices range from $120 to $200 per drink. Again, I'd say this only for simple cocktails. Obviously, you can order a blue or a cognac without any problem. There's live music, the waiters are very pleasant, and the atmosphere is very pleasant.
Authentic Mexican Cantina. Lots of fun. Great drinks. Excellent music. Go with a designated driver or Uber
Make sure you have reservation, if no, it's really unlikely you get a table at least on Friday and Saturday
Like most cantinas, you get food for each drink you order. Out of a 4 times menu, each drink grants you access to the following time's option of dishes.
I went to the comfortable table that my company arranged for me. At first, they made us wait even though we had a reservation. 30 minutes later they offered us drinks and everything was fine, but after it started to fill up, they took longer to serve us and it didn't take long to get my beers.
A pleasant and spacious place with good service. With the option to consult or order drinks and the free four-course dishes, it's a good option to motivate people to consume drinks. I ordered the bone marrow soup, dry noodles, chorizo dish, and chicken flautas. Everything was very tasty. I really liked the bone marrow and noodle soup; the soup had a strong, acidic flavor. The noodles were slightly salty and creamy. The chorizos were delicious to pair with the salsas, and the flautas were delicious, but overall they were simple and didn't really stand out in flavor, but they were a pleasant way to continue the drinks.
I didn't know this place; I went for a coworker's birthday. It's basically a traditional cantina: one drink and one course of food, up to four courses. There's a variety of food, but personally, four courses is too much for me. Overall, I think the food is good, but the service was slow. I don't know if it was because it was crowded that day or what. The atmosphere, to be honest, left a lot to be desired. They play music on screens, and there are bands that occasionally sing at the tables, but overall, I didn't like the ambiance. It needs more music, more life. I had a good time, but it's not a place I'd go back to. For those who like to eat, drink, and chat, I think it's the place for them.
I went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and overall the experience was good, although there were a few things to consider. The soups for the first course were quite tasty, though I unfortunately didn't take any photos. I found the overall atmosphere pleasant, and the food was adequate, although the salads left a lot to be desired: they were basically three lettuce leaves placed without cutting or preparing them, very simple. The waiter initially seemed friendly, but as time passed and we sat at the table for a while due to the celebration, he began to become visibly annoyed, giving uncomfortable glances as if he wanted us to leave. This dampened the atmosphere a bit. As for the live music, it was somewhat disappointing. Although it's advertised as part of the place's appeal, the reality is that they only play one song and then charge $150 for each additional song requested. If no one pays, there's simply no live music, just the background music on the TV. In short: The food was generally good, as was the atmosphere, but the service and music could be improved a lot. But I wouldn't go back.
Loud, service was terrible and food was bland.
I waited 30 mins for drinks. The menu is unnecessarily complicated. When the finally got drinks out they would avoided the table. The rounds took a while to come out. When we couldn’t finish our 4th rounds because they took so long in between each one they lectured us about why they don’t do food to go even if the service is bad. That’s I told him it was unacceptable to knowing give someone bad service and to scold them for some policy that isn’t spelled out anywhere. 0/10 would not go back.
