Rifugio Rocca Sella Piazza Santa Maria Della Stella Reviews
A pleasant surprise upon returning from an evening climb: the refuge was open and welcomed us with kindness and excellent food. Wild boar mocetta and a sensational pickled trout with a tasty ratatouille. The cool, quiet air complemented the excellent dinner, accompanied by the owner's warmth and kindness. If only we had more places like this!
Rifugio Rocca Sella is a small oasis of tranquility surrounded by greenery, perfect for a relaxing break after a walk or hike in the area. The large outdoor terrace, surrounded by nature, creates a truly pleasant and rejuvenating atmosphere. I enjoyed excellent coffee, served with kindness and professionalism by a staff that was always smiling and helpful. Their artisanal ice cream deserves an extra star; it's a real surprise: fresh, creamy, and with an authentic flavor, ideal for those seeking a delicious and genuine break. I can't wait to return to try the traditional menu, which offers dishes rooted in tradition and local flavors. A place truly worth discovering for its hospitality, quality, and beautiful setting.
Kudos to the staff for the quality and deliciousness of the food, and for the excellent service, even on a Sunday, despite the staff shortage. We were served with kindness and attention, punctual and never intrusive, with skill and speed. A delight to the palate. Keep up the good work.
Rifugio Rocca Sella is a place where you can find authentic and fresh food. We went there today for a themed lunch. The theme was Piedmontese-style Fritto Misto, a truly delicious fried dish. We were served 15 courses, and everything was delicious, from savory to sweet. Nothing to complain about, just that it was impeccable. We spent a wonderful, cheerful afternoon eating excellently and laughing a lot with Miriana (the waitress), who was super friendly and very professional. Compliments to all the staff, we will definitely be back.
Super
We had lunch outside and had a great time. The dishes were delicious, well-cooked, and the portions were generous. The location is beautiful and quiet. A place to return to. Update during the pandemic, four years later: we still had a great time and, of course, we had lunch outside on the lawn, where there were also some friendly cows watching us curiously from afar. A unique experience, and my rating has gone up from four to five stars!
A charming little refuge, an hour's drive from Turin, it offers outdoor seating and several indoor tables on two different levels. The menu, like most refuges, doesn't offer a wide selection but features only high-quality local products. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Congratulations!
Great views, 1 h walk from Celle church parking. Direct foot path is a bit steep, detour on the north face available (snow-ice in winter)
A very simple refuge. Friendly owners and a warm welcome. Traditional dishes. Excellent post-hike retreat; worth a visit for the hermit's cave of the eleventh archbishop of Ravenna, San Giovanni Vincenzo. Excellent views of the Sacra di San Michele and the Avigliana lakes (opposite).
Over the top
Daniela Linguari
The service could be improved by those taking orders being more knowledgeable about the ingredients used, especially the herbs. Although this isn't a "far-from-civilization" retreat, the menu price is a bit high for those taking a day trip. If the crisis were less severe, it wouldn't be a problem to spend the extra €5 per person, which in my opinion is excessive. The food is very good.
The refuge is easily reached by car from Turin: after entering the Susa Valley, the climb begins near Caprie, reaching an altitude of 1,000 meters, where it is located next to a small church. From there, trails lead to the Rocca Sella peak, located at 1,500 meters. The photos were taken at the summit. At the refuge, you can eat indoors or outdoors, and the food is excellent.
A refuge near Avigliana. You can reach it by car or by hiking or mountain biking. The outside area is very basic, with plastic tables and chairs. However, the food is really good and excellent value. Two appetizers, a first course, a second course, a side dish, two desserts, two coffees, a bottle of water, and a bottle of craft beer for €56. Friendly, young staff. The only downside is the €2 cover charge. Otherwise, we'll definitely be back!
Personale scortese, servizio pessimo e lento. Poca cura nella cucina e quantità ristrette. Il vino sfuso molto scarso. Lo sconsiglio.
