Their salsa is bomb, and that’s the first way to know it’s a great place. I have been coming here since I was a kid… maybe 30 some years. I’ve only ordered the same two things ever… Mama Mia’s with steak, all beans. They are little chimichangas with so much flavor. I took a pic but I already started chowing down. My bad! The other thing is their nachos are pretty darn good as well.
Anything with their marinated steak is amazing!!
Love it, love it, love it. The salsa is fantastic, the Mama Mia plate is my favorite (two small chimichangas with pico de gallo and guac), rice, beans....delicious. Service has always been great and prices are very reasonable. I love taking home a half dozen of their cheese tamales too! If I had to say anything negative, I wish they'd fix the torn booth benches, kind of uncomfortable in shorts. Other than that, all good!!!
First time we ate here food was excellent and plenty of it. I had the chili Verde plate my son had the 3 item combo
I have been going here for 35 years. I love the fish tacos, guacamole with chips and iced tea. My wife love their virgin margaritas. Anything you get her eill be very good.
This was one of my favorite places to eat when I lived in Placentia. I have fond memories spent with my family enjoying the delicious food, and yet 30 years later, it's still amazing. The food was delicious, maybe better than I remembered, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend trying this place.
Really enjoyed the combo plate, lots of food, great salsa, and terrific margarita.
Good place to sit down and enjoy some Mexican food. Lots of food for good prices, complimentary chips and salsa. Service was great.
Go to place when I’m in Placentia. Phenomenal food and service. 👌👌👌
Been here several times and it's been great everytime! Excellent service and really good food! Had the shrimp fajitas tonight and took home some leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
We love this place!! Great food! Fun atmosphere! Friendly staff!! Jennifer is always sweet! Our family loves coming here!
Great food, great service! My family and I are locals and have been coming here for years!! Always good and we have never been let down.
We ❤️ it and also very delicious 😋 and and we went tto Restaurant Then Whole Enchilada 7 times
Love this place. Been going here for 25 plus years. Every time we have a special occasion we go here and have a blast. I'm sad that they closed the one by my parents house but happy there is another one still close by. Thank you for being a part of our families lives for years to come.
A very nice place to eat. Booths need a little more space. The food is above average. Prices still reasonable.
Not fancy but great food and drink. Their Margarita will make you smile and portion size makes for something to take home. Clean, good friendly service,
Great food has the best enchiladas I've had in along time. And great Margaritas too
My family wanted to go out somewhere special for me promoting at karate and they suggested The Whole Enchilada. I loved the place so much, their enchiladas, tortilla soup, and I love their chips and salsa. Their rice and beans are great too. Service is great and nice and I highly reccomend this place.
Was very tasty and reasonably priced. We went after 1330 on a Saturday and there was little to no wait. The food arrived fast and fresh. Would love to visit here again.
Excellent food, service is good. Atmosphere is nothing special. I recommend the mama Mia tacos.
Good to be back with you again! We have missed our favorite, Miguel's Ensalada, which we frequently order, & have since they opened years ago. Most always the meals are perfect. If not, they correct it without question. However, they do occasionally need to taste test what they produce. The whole-beans & shreaded beef in our last Miguel's salad were way too salty. Not good for those of us with Heart & Blood Pressure concerns, which is why we always order the salad in the first place. Since this was most likely a rare occurrence, we'll continute to be loyal patrons because we enjoy the food and the long-time friendly staff who, in many cases, have worked there for up to as many as 30 years! Good job folks.
Chips and salsa are awesome. Food was amazing. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Casual wear is perfect for a feel at home place. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants.
Great clean space, service was good , was greeted at. The door, food was hot a little salty for my taste ,bit other then that great portions and would recommend to friend and family
Fun casual restaurant. Very nice service, comfortable family atmosphere. I had a fantastic chicken taco, burritos, quesadilla and enchiladas at our table looked great too.
This place took me back to my childhood. The ambiance, the food.. and the staff were all attentive and kind. 5stars all around for me !
We usually go to El Farlitos but there was over an hour wait so we decided to give the Whole Enchilada a try. It was fantastic. The food was great and hot. The staff were great and the service and price were great. If you haven't already, give this restaurant a try.
My favorite Mexican food place, since I began coming here in 1986 during my university years. Best salsa EVER, if you like it mild; which I do.
I've been going to the Whole Enchilada for over 10 years and this was probably the best cooked food I had. I had the burrito ranchero with rice. It's nearly Christmas and they were really busy so we didn't get our normal level of attention. We had to ask for water a few times and silverware was hard to get as well. Overall though it was great to visit here again and even with how busy it was my party of 8 had a great time.
I have occasionally eaten at this restaurant for over 40 years. I have always had good service, and excellent food. I highly recommend.
Cheese, cheese, and more cheese. And that's just the way I like it. This restaurant is a local Hangout. Everything on the menu is made fresh and hot and perfectly spiced. Salsa here is top-notch. Chips are always crispy, salty and warm. My favorite is the chicken fajitas. They caramelize the vegetables and onions just right. With the choice of corn or flour tortillas you really can't go wrong.
Food tastes fresh and the atmosphere feels homey and nice. The waitress was very kind and the service was great! Definitely a place I'd go back to.
Amazing High Quality Mexican Food! Love the Chilli Releno Burrito. Shredded Chicken Tacos. Generous Portions and Great Service. Five Stars *****
First time visiting this place and definitely we made a great choice! The service was good and the food was delicious! Laura the waitress is very friendly and polite and she did answer all our questions very detailed. We hardly recommend this place!
1st time visitor. The 2 of us each had an entrée. One Coke and 1 very good house margarita. $45.00, which is very reasonable, especially these days. Service was very, very good. Obvious this place is popular with the locals. I've been waiting to go here, and now I'll be back. Very pleasant place. Highly recommended.
A great place that serves delicious food. My guests and I savored every bite. We look forward to returning and ordering a different dish which will nourish our soul and remind us of Grandmother’s cooking.
We were looking for Mexican after a long day at Disneyland. This hit the spot. Great menu with lots of choices. Friendly waitstaff. Kept our drinks filled and the chips and salsa coming. Huge portions - so come hungry. They brought out cinnamon chips for dessert. Highly recommend. Our group got tacos, enchiladas, tamales, chile rellenos. Everyone loved everything.
Love the food here. A bit pricey but you get a lot of food. So much I order children’s plates and I still can’t finish. Service is great, dining area is clean! Great spot!
I always enjoy eating here. Large portions of food for a reasonable price. I forgot to take pictures but the seafood burrito was so good. First time I have tried it. Look forward to trying something else out of my usual box of favorites.
My wife and I went here for her Birthday. We used to have one in Azusa, but it's long since gone. My Mom, before she passed, always had us take her there for her Birthday. In any event, the food and service were very good and we enjoyed ourselves. Great time with memories of my Mom thrown in.
If you have read some of the other reviews on The Whole Enchilada... Let me clear some up. Their salsa was not watery... It was delicious and we had 3 rounds. Their food was amazing and far from "canned". The floors weren't dirty, they also vacuumed twice within the hour that we were there. The service was great and our server was very attentive. Our drinks were always refilled and our food was delivered shortly after ordered. All in all it was a nice clean restaurant with delicious food. I can't wait to go back.
Been 30 years since last visit due to not being in the area but the food was as good as I remembered...glad we went...
Love their food. Never disappointed. Staff is helpful and accommodating. Wish they still brought u the cinnamon and sugar chips at the end of your meal though... those were so good!
As a kid, my family went here all the time. Then we moved and I grew up. Its been a long time and after 9 years I finally convinced my boyfriend to come and let me just say, it did not disappoint. We devoured the chips and salsa. My goodness, those chips are so good. I got the good ol cheese enchilada plate which comes with rice and beans. Super cheesy. Good flavor. And along with your check, you get a cinnamon sugar tortilla chip. Always the best part. The only complaint I have is about our server. He served the table next to us with some water, looked at our nearly empty cups, skipped our table and moved to the next one to refill theirs and left. For whatever reason, he didn't like us, but I am sad to say that because of our server, we will not be coming back, despite how much we loved our meals. As a restaurant, it was good food and you should definitely try it out yourself.
Been coming here for almost 30 years my mom would bring me and my sister here for birthdays as kids, the servers that have been there for years always treated us well and the food is always delicious! The chips and salsa are amazing and we always ordered The Whole Enchilada plate that comes with 3 items, rice and beans I always either ordered all beef enchiladas or one beef enchilada, taquitos and a crunchy beef taco. The portions are very big and the prices are just right! And on the weekends we would stop in for some delicious menudo. Still come here to remember the good old days when my mom and sister were alive, RIP to both of them.
My first time here. Had a great experience. Food was delicious and our server Alfredo was AWESOME. We were in a bit of a rush and he took care of us quick from beginning to end.
Good food reasonable price
Excellent menu selections. A very nice surprise for our first visit. We'll be back. Chicken and bean burrito with Colorado sauce was excellent.
We are never disappointed when we dine at The Whole Enchilada. It is good food and family friendly.
The Margaritas and Bloody Mary were excellent. Their chips and salsa were served fresh and delicious. Everyone was kind, helpful and informative and attentive. Our bunch came out yummy! Nice and hot. Overall, great place. Looking forward to trying their breakfast and dinner.
Astonishingly good! Did not expect it to be so delicious. Best carnitas I’ve had in years. Tortillas have to be hand made. Spicy salsa that leaves my heart a flutter. It was great spicy salsa, complimented the carne asada and carnitas.
Great food. Great customer service. Very accommodating. Everything we had from here was great. Big portions and great chips and salsa. Will definitely be coming back next time I am in the area.
I used to come here in high school and was in the area I thought I'd stop by. It's so great that it's still here after all these years and the food's really good. Highly recommend
One of the best Mexican spots. I’ll be back!!
Always loved this place. Excellent Mexican food. So sorry when they left Diamond Bar.
Always a good experience when coming to this restaurant. Lots of memories coming here with friends and family for lunch or dinner. Until recently they remodeled. Food also on point, will be back again.
This is good Mexican food adjusted for American tastes. My kids like it a LOT. Cheese enchiladas or quesadillas are their favorite. We used to go in Diamond Bar before it closed and the food here is exactly the same. Yummy chips and salsa.
This was a pleasant experience. A friendly, patient staff who were on the spot when we needed them. The food was prepared well and tasty. The dining room was well maintained and comfortable, although not quite as "Mexican" in decor as many other Mexican restaurants I've visited. Overall, this place is good. I'm on a short vacation here in south-eastern LA, but I'm definitely going revisit here before I go home.
ME ENCANTA, BUENA COMIDA Y NUESTRA MESERA FAVORITA ES RITA MUUUUUYYYY EFICIENTE Y AMABLE.
Buena atención deliciosa comida, buenos precios
Nice restaurant... pleasant atmosphere. Many menu selections... food is fresh and delicious. Customer service is very good...prices are status quo.
The food was great! Picture perfect & tasty. The prices are very competitive. Its a little tight in there, but that is because it's so popular. The bathrooms and building are kinda old, but it is an old restaurant. Check it out!
I ordered the garden enchilada. Very good. Good size serving and reasonable price. Midsize restaurant. Great service.
Very good Mexican food good service and good foods it's very busy here and the staff are nice they have free tortillas and salsa they have TV's and it's not that big inside we waited for 10 minutes before they sat us down the restroom need to be cleaned and they were out of towels lots of parking space it's in shopping plaza.
Seated right away. Staff is approchable, accommodating and feiendly. Food arrives quickly, correct, hot and yummy. The food is great. I gave a 4 because their prices went up and portion size went down.
Very blan mexican entrees. Seems a favorite place for older folks. I've been here several times and I find a good variety of options, but everything I've ever ordered is very bland tasting. My MIL loves the salsa, but it just has no kick to it. I find it just tastes like tomatoes. However the texture is nice, just not enough spice. Chips are good. Prices have dramatically increased since our last visit. Expect $20 a person plus tip. My orders today included: The whole enchilada plate. 3 items/$17 and change. I chose the cheese enchilada, chili relleno & a hard beef taco. I opted for fruit as a side because I do not care for their bland rice/beans. My partner ordered the chicken fajitas. They sizzling plate was piled high with bell peppers/onions and tomato. Had to seach & theres not much chicken. I remember ordering fajitas here in the past and the plate would feed two of us. The flavor was spot on & came with all the fixings you might need to customize your tacos. The meal was ended with crisp cinnamon/sugar tortilla chips. This was a nice surprise, that I didn't remember being served in the past. Our server was tenitive. My inlaws said shes been there 20 years! Overall, I felt the atmosphere was nice. Nice murals painted & Hispanic decorations abound. Unfortunately, I didnt think to photograph anything.
My family and I have been coming here for years... literally. One of the greatest things about this place is that it has always been consistent in its offerings. Portions have stayed the same, the service has always been good, and the chips and salsa are tasty too. When we are able to dine in again, it can get a little crowded as it is a popular place, but other than that, it's a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant worth grabbing a bite or two from.
The food is very good. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because we were given menus, we were ready to order, and the waitress said their credit card machine was broken. Neither of us had enough cash, and I said, "Why didn't you post it on the door?" She said they're putting it up now. With a roomful of people, they waited to put the sign up?
We are going to "The Whole Enchilada " for over 2 years We always had a great experience. But today was a worse experience ever. Before we had a wonderful, kind , nice , very welcoming waiters . Teo young sisters. They always would be check on us and be nice. In this time we had an older lady, she wasn't wearing a name tag , so sorry for this description . Nothing to do with her age. But she makes us so unwelcome, like she was irritated by our visit. I ordered a chicken tortilla soup, my husband and mother in law ordered roll tacos. My soup came luke warm , had no salt, no flavor, no chicken. I have to send my dish back to the kitchen. I wasn't offer other dish or anything else. She just tell me: Sorry. Took my soup and never back to check on other food. The roll tacos for my Mother in law and my husband were good. But our waiter never check on us. She asked us only once about refilling our water and cola , when she brought bill to us. After she just completely ignore us. So my husband has to go to the station to pay our bill. The worse experience ever. So sad. I used to like this place. Don't want even go back.
Food is pretty good here.
It was a great chicken tostada salad. I didn't care for the dressing but the chicken was really very good and therefore didn't need any. I didn't care for the decor, it seems dated. Lots of staff, their friendly too. Prices are decent. Not real authentic but it seems like they're doing just fine as it was crowded. I might go back for that chicken was very tasty.😁
Great place for dinner. Always busy only problem is orders are not followed us you request it. But servers said it's all pre prep and ready to cook
This restaurant has been here for a really long time, and we decided to try it out after our last visit which was over a decade ago. Literally nothing has changed. Which is probably a good thing. Chips were hot, enchilada sauce on the sweeter side. Glad we went back.
The food was pleasant and delicious, but not amazing. I slightly prefer El Torito or Blue Agave over this place, I base my ratings off of quality, quantity, and price point. For the price though the food was quite delicious, but could've used a little more seasoning. The staff was very polite, pleasant, and personable. Would go back again.
Food was very good, and plentiful portions. Salsa is excellent Customer service was friendly, responsive, and pretty quick. 1/2 hour before closing there was a bit of clutter such as napkins and straw covers on the floor that were not immediately picked up. This could have been a bit more tidy. However the table was completely clean, as were all the dishes and utensils.
Pretty good food, but didn't get the sense the place was very clean. But then again, it was clean enough for me to continue eating there. was a great place to catch up with old friends. Long wait times.
Service was great. Food was good, but nothing especially memorable to qualify for 5 stars. Atmosphere was great, but probably could use a little updating. Neither the food nor the atmosphere would prevent me from going back. It’s a great little place and the value for what you get is wonderful!
Nos gusto mucho ese lugar. Es la primera vez que vamos. Fuimos a celebrar mi cumpleaños.
The service is good, but the food's just okay. There are a couple of Mexican restaurants around city that taste better.
Food was excellent service could of been better our beverages were empty most of the time and although we got chip refills we weren't given anymore salsa with the refills of chips and the salsa was empty both times we were given refills on the chips these 2 reasons are why I gave 3 stars only restaurant was a bit small as well our table was very uncomfortable as there was no leg room under the tables our party of 4 kept stepping on each other's feet every time we tried to get comfortable
Ordered takeout. Normally, no complaints. This time the Tacos were greasy and had relatively no taste. Will go back again. Maybe they were having an "off" night.
Decent sized menu. We went for lunch. I ordered the burrito with ground beef, but the filling wasn't seasoned very well. The rancheros sauce was very good and balanced it out. Reasonable prices.
Honest review…..our first time here and maybe our last. We wanted to try, since it’s been here forever and survived Covid. However, we enjoy more authentic flavors. The food was bland and absent of spices you would normally expect. The crowd is mostly Caucasian senior citizens, which would explain the flavor profile. Prices are on par with any other restaurant, we will stick with El’ Farolito, Telaquepaque, or Mi Casita for future meals.
My GF makes me come here, the food is very sub-par. I ordered menudo today thinking it'll be great. The color was very dark, the tripe looked like it was frozen at some point. I don't recommend this restaurant, but that is just uh, like my opinion, man.
Fast and easy! Good Mexican restaurant. It's been there a long time! That's a tell. Best cheese enchiladas! We also had chicken tacos, and we shared guacamole! Margaritas were fabulous, too!
Food was delish, service was less then expectations. Server needs to be retrained on table service, he approached the table and never offered or brought refills on drinks…had to ask after showing empty glass….no friendly service, felt like it was self service. Tipped my expected amount, but should of tipped nothing or much less. Please retraining is needed!!!
Don't think about ordering carne asada. Literally 8 extra dollar. Asada nachos came out to $30. It's okay food. Nothing special
Never eating there again. I ordered a seafood burrito and it was just all rice and a fraction of seafood. Left after two bites when I opened the burrito, emptied it on the plate and saw it was all rice. Service wss good and the ice tea was fine.
I had stopped going to The Whole Enchilada several years ago and had forgotten why... Until this visit. One of my favorite dishes is a chile relleno and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Flavor-wise, the dish just didn't meet my palate's desires for interesting flavors. For what it's worth, I prefer spicier foods although that doesn't necessitate spice levels that make me cry. So if you prefer a milder flavor profile, this will probably work for you. If I go again, I will ask if they can punch up the flavor a bit. Our server, Rita, was phenomenally attentive. We had an early dinner before the 6:30 PM movie.
My family and I went for breakfast. We had heard about it from a Facebook group and thought we'd give it a try today. Anyway, they gave us chips and salsa when we first sat down. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce from a jar, I personally didnt like it. No flavor, no spice. I ordered the street tacos since they sounded good and my bf ordered the mama mia. I want to be clear that their aim is Mexican food but it tasted more like a level up from taco bell (respectfully, sorry). The street tacos were supposed to be spicy steak and there was no spice. The guacamole on the tacos did not have guacamole taste it was like mashed avocados. The cheese they put on the tacos does not compliment the tacos, its shredded mexican cheese. The rice and beans were ok. My bf said his plate was also not good. We ordered a cup of the tortilla and chicken soup as well. Also missed flavor and they also added shredded cheese to it? The service was great though! Our order was taken quickly, food came out fast, and we were constantly checked on. Amazing customer service.. but terrible food :( In conclusion, neither of us finished our food. In the nicest way possible it was white washed mexican food, idk.
Yucky Americanized Mexican food out of a can. I hear It's closing. Good! I don't know how a restaurant stays open that long and serves up that kind of food. On my worst 10 Restaurant List!
Food is great! 1 Star is for my food over an 1 late for delivery. And DoorDash driver been waiting as well! I can’t get a refund nor cancel coz no one is picking up their phone!
This food is absolutely Horrible. The audacity to call this Authentic. No effort whatsoever in making this food. It’s literally open a can,Chop onions/cilantro.Get a tortilla .Stuff it with boiled meat of your choosing and throw it in an oven. The atmosphere is reminiscent of Mexican food at Disneyland. This is stomach churning.
I went to the restroom and it smelled like the toilet walls and floor hadn’t been cleaned. It smelled of old urine. Unfortunately I ate food there. From now on when I go to a restaurant, I’ll check the bathroom and if it’s not clean, I’m leaving.
The food is okay, the salsa is just tomatoes and onion but no flavor, the service from the server was good, but the overall experience was poor. Our family asked accommodations for my nephew with special needs and we were meet by a rude response from the management team. This was our first and now our last time coming here.
