I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere and the furnishings were really nice. For my entrée I ordered the Arepas and that was so fresh and delicious. For my main course I ordered the Angus Skirt Steak meal and added shrimp and it was amazing. I would definitely come back for another lunch.

We came for an anniversary dinner. The food was flavorful. The atmosphere was fun. The restaurant is lovely. Our server Mary was very attentive. We had the fresh guacamole. The salsa and chips here are delicious. I had the Al pastor tacos and my husband had the carne asada tacos. Both were excellent. We had the fresh lemonade and hot chocolate. Mary surprised us and brought us flan for dessert. We had the best anniversary date! Thank you!

Came here to celebrate my anniversary. The vibes and aesthetic as soon as you walk are amazing. To make it even better the service is absolutely phenomenal our server Jaime had real conversations and was actually happy we came in, and with the help of the manager Arnold we had one of the best night and experiences.

This place is off the charts delicious!!! If you're a foodie, this.is.your.jam! From the Yuca fries, street corn, crab enchiladas with creamy poblano sauce all the way to the simple rice and beans. Your taste buds will be dancing on these robust flavors. Don't get me started on the cocktails. Highly recommend Out of Office 🤤🤌 Cannot wait to dine again!

I ordered brunch tacos. They were so good. They had a nice spice to them. It came with a fruit bowl. The salsa was good and spicy. The server was attentive and I also got the impression that he was trying to rush my friend and me out. The atmosphere was nice. Not too loud or cold. The margaritas were tasty. I would return.

I used to come.here alot when I worked in the area. Mexican Sugar was a good to spot for lunch or early dinner. I live too far away now to frequent. A friend of mine and I were going to see a comedian we liked at Mic Drop, so I had to pop in! The drinks were amazing and the food was soooo good, per usual. If you like Gloria's, it's like that but a bit more upscale. Laura and Jameson took great care of us. It was a crowded Saturday night and they were a great team!

Loved the food, loved the ambiance even more. The staff is super friendly. The place does have Vegetarian Options. The Queso Blanco was amazing. And the hibiscus margarita was fancy. Enchiladas were good too. Didn’t like the avocado cake much because we don’t usually like too much of sweet in a cake, but again, if you like sweet treats, it is good. Don’t miss their Sina Colada. I am going back for it again. That was my favorite of everything we ordered. Most impressive was the staff informing us why the food we ordered would arrive late, really appreciate the personal care. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Phenomenal Experience at Mexican Sugar! From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were crafted perfectly. But what really made the night memorable was our server, Alejandro. He was attentive, friendly, and made us feel like VIPs from start to finish. The food? Incredible. The chicken and carne asada fajitas were sizzling and full of flavor, the pork tacos were tender and perfectly seasoned, and don’t even get us started on the avocado chocolate cake—rich, unique, and the perfect sweet ending. You can tell Alexandro genuinely cares about the guests having a great experience—and we absolutely did. Do suggest the staff meeting be held in a different location. Diners do not need to experience it. If you’re thinking about visiting Mexican Sugar, do it. And if you’re lucky enough to get Alejandro as your waiter, you’re in for a treat. We’ll definitely be back!

This location is really nice integrate place to hang out. It gets busy here very early, however they handle the crowd well. Our server just had zero personality it didn't seem particularly interested in providing excellent service. In fact I noticed that most of the servers had this nonchalant look on their faces like they didn't enjoy being there. The food was very good. We had the beef and chicken fajitas which were cooked perfectly, but we asked for both corn and flour tortillas are server literally refused. He said they just weren't set up for that. That's ridiculous. So don't ask for anything outside of their menu you will not get it. My friend ordered the rib off fajitas I tried them in fact they weren't as good as the regular fajitas so stick with that. But, the prices are actually decent for the quality of food and atmosphere. They just need to spruce up their service and listen to the customer and give them what they want then they can have five stars

Good tacos. The chicken was very tender. I highly recommend ordering street corn. The most hyped was coconut tres leches. We all hated it. It was very dry. The churros were so oily!! Every bite had oil oozing out!

This was my 1st visit. The dining room is visually awesome. My server was very knowledgeable, making it easy to choose a dish. I got the Chilaquiles, not sure they were seasoned & spiced in a traditional way, but it was good. The horchata was good, my first time drinking it, so not sure it is traditional. I was told the menu is made to appease certain pallets vs. a traditional preparation. Would I go again, yes the dining room was awesome, am I going again soon, no.

Mexican Sugar in Plano is such a vibe From the beautifully plated food to the rich, authentic flavors, everything felt thoughtfully done. The tacos were fresh and flavorful, the rice and beans were perfectly seasoned, the enchiladas with green sauce were comforting and absolutely delicious, and the Angus skirt steak was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The ambiance is warm and classy—perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends. The service was amazing—friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience even better. And the dessert… the Tres Leches cake deserves its own moment 🤍 Hands down, this is the best cake I’ve eaten in my entire life. I enjoyed every bite, every spoon of it. It was so good that I genuinely wish I could have it as my next birthday cake. Unforgettable. Definitely a spot I’d come back to whenever I’m craving elevated Mexican food

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with family and husband on 09/20. Alejandro was fantastic! He was incredibly attentive, patient, and really took care of our party. We mentioned to him that we were celebrating a birthday and he surprised us with the churros we had been eyeing. Good food, good prices. Social place. Celebrated parent's 50th Anniversary there. Got a good flight to drink and roasted chicken enchiladas. Sauces were good and the black beans tasted great.

Exceeded expectations with the hearts of palm citrus appetizer and tortilla soup. The salsa roja with the chips is authentic. Will return soon.

I was excited to try this Mexican restaurant before meeting up with friends and it was not a good experience… As someone who had worked service industry in the past, it shocked me. I came at about 10pm (they close at 11pm) and there was 0 host or hostess at the front. Waited a couple minutes before flagging a server to see if the bar was open seating. There were a total of 6 people sitting at the bar when I chose a spot near the bartenders. For 5min, no one greeted me or brought me any water. At about the 5 minute mark, a menu was put in front of me but was still not welcomed to the restaurant. When looking at the menu, I chose my drink (Classico Margarita) and then when opening the menu, it was stuck together with food and was super sticky. I chose my food (Chicken Tacos) and set the menu down. More than 4 people were behind the bar and when finally asked what I wanted, I ordered and they walked away. I was not given any utensils or chips and salsa. The bar top was also dirty and I had to grab a cocktail napkin to wipe down my area… 4 or more places were dirty despite plenty of workers to help wipe down the bar top. I received my drink and food… the drink was decent but not the best I’ve had and the food was a mixed bag. My plate came with 3 tacos, black beans, and rice. The beans were lack luster and bland, the rice was decent and the tacos were the best part but fell apart quickly as it only had 1 corn tortilla on the outside. At this point I was prepared to get my check and leave. This place would have gotten a 1-star review at that point but they were redeemed by Elwin the bar back who checked on me multiple times and asked if anything was wrong. I informed him of the experience and he was so apologetic and sweet. Elwin immediately brought me chips and salsa (the salsa was bland and served hot) plus, got me a free drink for my trouble. The Grandiose Margarita he gave me was very good and would suggest anybody order it if they were getting a margarita. At about halfway through my margarita, they came around and stated last call would be occurring shortly at about 10:45pm. I chose to ask for the check at this time. When the check came out, it only had the food and drink on it, which was around $25. I laid down my card to process and when it came back, the check was only $14 as they removed my first drink also because they felt so bad. I told them it wasn’t necessary, but thank them so much for their kindness at the end. I tipped more because of that and then left. Seriously, Elwin was the one redeeming factor of this restaurant.

My only desire is to give them 0 stars, giving 1 star is being absolutely generous! I don’t even know how to start… they have 4 teenage hostesses and they have absolutely no clue what they are doing! Both my partner and I talked to them about getting a table suitable for a family with a toddler. After 15min waiting they look at us and ask we have added our name to the waitlist … hmm yeah like 4 times by now!!!! They gave us a table that should be in the trash, service was extremely slow and suddenly my toddler realized there was a gate that was not locked (we didn’t not realize that) and she ran to the street! Not a single manager to check on us or walking around! This place deserves to closes its doors!
