Marumi Sushi Plantation Reviews
Amazing Japanese food experience! 🍣🍜 The sushi was incredibly fresh and the ramen was absolutely excellent. Everything tasted authentic and high quality. The service was great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Definitely a place I would come back to and highly recommend to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine!
Marumi sushi really has a huge menu with a verity of Japanese food like nato, hotpot, grilled meats, ramen, sushi, and so much more. The food here is truly amazing and it’s worth the wait!!! One of the best servers there was James, he was really knowledgeable on the menu and helps with any questions for people new to authentic Japanese dishes. This is one of those hidden gems restaurants!!!! (i got the soba cold noodles, yakiniku, and the other 2 dishes recommended by James!! i forgot the names)
The food was sooo fresh and tasty! 🍣✨ The service was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d love to come back to!”
The best place for authentic Japanese food. My old time favorite is the miso soup , ceviche and the uni angel hair pasta ! Yummm! This place never disappoints . One of our staple place to visit.
Revisiting FLL after a 12-year absence, I was overjoyed to rediscover this treasured restaurant, now a seasoned establishment still guided by its innovative owner and chef. Their prolonged success is a resounding endorsement of their unwavering enthusiasm. The traditional Japanese cuisine served here is phenomenal, with genuine flavors that whisk diners away to Japan. The spicy tuna salad is a culinary tour de force, and I always ensure it's on my order. The impressive seafood quality and tantalizing pasta options create a wonderful predicament. For those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine prepared by native chefs, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, vowing an extraordinary experience that parallels my own.
Great food great service a must try
Authentic Japanese restaurant with great variety and fresh fish. You are guaranteed a great meal with a relaxed atmosphere. They have an amazing variety of dishes. Not only sushi rolls and sashimi, but also hot dishes like Japanese Curry, noodles, dons. They are usually very busy and get a lot of reservations. If you are not there when they open at 5pm be sure to make a reservation. However, if not the waits are usually not too long.
Delicious food, nice people working there
Marumi is a fantastic Japanese izakaya that excels in both ambiance and service. The staff members are friendly and attentive, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The food arrives promptly, allowing you to indulge in a variety of delicious Japanese dishes without delay. Highly recommended for an authentic dining experience.
We have lived in Plantation for many years and frequented the Plaza that Marumi Sushi is in but only tired them today. They did not disappoint! The staff is friendly and informative. The food flavorful and delicious. Everything was served pipping hot which I greatly appreciate. We started with the Clear Mushroom Soup. The hubby and I had the Yaki Udon with chicken and beef respectively and our son had the skirt steak. I also had the Crispy Bok Choy.. delicious 😋. We will definitely be back!
Today we went to Marumi Sushi, and luckily, there was no line! We ordered braised eggplant, yuzu vinegar oysters, fried pork belly, fried tofu, grilled mackerel, and yakisoba noodles. The oysters were tangy, the eggplant was light and tender, the tofu crispy, the pork belly delicious, and the mackerel rich and fatty. The yakisoba noodles were fragrant, and the natto rice with fish roe and seaweed was a deluxe upgrade. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavors, and the total came to $102 with a 20% tip—worth every penny!
Been coming here for morr than 5 yrs. Uni pasta is my favorite dish. The fish, the oysters, the uni, they are all fresh and tasty!
Absolutely the best Japanese restaurant I have ever visited. The food tasted fresh and tasty. If you don’t know what to order just ask and they will explain the menu to you. You can definitely order different things and share. I have to admit that I left with the desire for more. I’ll definitely come back soon.
Really good authentic Japanese food. We tried the Japanese curry and ginger stir fry. Both immaculate and tastes just like Japan. Highly recommend. The atmosphere is cool with lots of original Japanese art and anime.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Authentic Japanese Gem That Will Leave You Planning Your Next Visit! Finally found a TRUE izakaya in Florida! Marumi delivers an absolutely incredible authentic Japanese dining experience that transported us straight to Tokyo. Must-try dishes that will blow your mind: • The deep-fried bok choy is unlike anything I’ve had - crispy perfection with amazing flavor • Grilled yakiniku beef arrives dramatically smoking from the kitchen and tastes even better than it looks • Fresh sushi and oysters that were simply unforgettable • Soul-warming ramen that hits all the right notes Don’t miss the Kaaba-Sunrise Ale - hands down the best Japanese beer I’ve ever tasted. Perfect pairing with the food! Service that sets the gold standard: From the moment Amy greeted us with genuine warmth, to James providing spot-on recommendations tailored to our preferences, every interaction was flawless. Watching Tetso l-San and his team work their magic in the open kitchen was entertainment in itself, while Saori-san orchestrated the dining room like a seasoned professional. The authenticity, quality, and hospitality here are unmatched. We’re already planning our return visit and can’t wait to bring friends to experience this hidden treasure. If you’re looking for genuine Japanese cuisine with exceptional service, Marumi is absolutely worth the trip!
This is my go to place every time I visit. We can’t wait to come down to Fort Lauderdale. We always make this restaurant one of our stops. Food is delicious. We look forward to see what the specials are. But we always get the crispy bok Choy and tofu in chicken sauce. The sushi is very yummy too. Customer service and food are great. What more can we ask for?? I would recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Japanese good.
We go to this restaurant regularly. Do u want authentic japanese food? This is ur place! Curry udon or yaki udon AMAZING if ur willing to try cold soba, zaru soba with the Tempura add on. U will not be disappointed! Kawahagi with a cold beer? Ur back in japan.. we love this place!
This is my favorite sushi place the variety, the prices, the food is fresh and of very good quality. Every time I order sashimi, it is extremely fresh. They have nato, which so far is the only sushi bar I have seen that has it.
The food here is authentic and delicious. They always provide courteous customer service. I get the charm of the small kind of hole in the wall vibe but I think they can go to a nicer location to match the food with the atmosphere. Also some of the best texture of noodles I’ve ever had. Overall some of the best food in town.
Coming from someone who is half-Japanese, this is the only place in South Florida that serves anything close to what I ate growing up! It's the only place I've found that serves chilled soba and the katsudon is otherworldly! Great friendly service, even during a rush. You gotta try this place if you want real Japanese food in South Florida.
My go-to spot for non-sushi food. Their small plates (pork belly, smelt fish, crispy bokchoy, grilled squid) are all fantastic. This is a relatively small place so get there as early as you can. Or come in really late. I’ve been going to marumi for the last 10 years, maybe(?). The great thing about marumi is that their food is consistent. Same menu items, same cooking style, same taste. Even same people! This is why i’m willing to drive 30-40mins to sunrise just to get dinner. Kudos to the staff. Very friendly, and accomodating. Bonus: there’s a new and great boba place a few doors down.
Marumi never dissapoints! And they always have a board with fresh delicacies to try that are not on the menu! Last night i had the pork belly skewers kantu super delish! And the Shiyo ramen and the Kimchee ramen to die for I'm not exaggerating try them for yourself! The dark broth is the shiyo and the red broth is the Kimchee and its a huge bowl only for $12!!!
Always fresh, quality, and different. Tons of specials that are constantly changing supplement a good sized menu with something for everyone... Well, everyone that likes Japanese food. Tons of options when it comes to beverage: beers, sake, shochu, etc. Lucky to have something like this so close.
We just love Marumi! Can’t recommend something specific since everything is great!! You gotta try the day specials as well 👌🏽 Every time we go, we are able to get a table, but if it’s a Friday night or a large group (party of 6-8) I do recommend to make a reservation in advance!
Best sushi in Plantation! Incredible quality and lightning fast serving. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.
A few things you can tell if a restaurant is good - -If they have a whiteboard or chalkboard with specials( because it means they constantly have fresh ingredients coming in and new dishes ) -If the host or hostess calls the customers coming in by name (means they have regulars) I was not at all disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. We ordered the miso eggplant with seafood and cheese , and let me tell you, it was as if an eggplant went to the beach snorkeling in the cold water and caught some shrimp, scallop, squid then later wrapped himself in a warm cheese blanket staring off into the sunset... Yes it was amazing . The fried tofu with chicken sauce was delicious , let me tell you, if Tofu went with eggplant to the beach and got sunburn and rubbed chicken sauce to soothe the skin. That's what it would be like . crispy on the outside and nice and warm on the inside, smothered in chicken sauce.. UUGGHHHHH so good. Anyways I'm definitely coming back 😁 they also have a bunch of one piece ang Ghibli posters around ,hope y'all enjoy it too
If you're tired of all the "fusion" restaurants around serving all the same stuff and are looking for an authentic Japanese place, look no further. This is the BEST Japanese restaurant in Broward, and it's truly such a gem to have. Amazing food, great services. Be sure to make a reservation so you're not left standing around waiting and drooling over other people's food. 😉👍
Marumi continues to hold the title of our absolute favorite sushi spot in Broward County. Despite living in downtown Miami, we find ourselves planning visits to this gem time and time again. It's an authentic Japanese culinary experience like no other. The sushi here is truly phenomenal, with a standout being the tuna nigiri special that's nothing short of out-of-this-world delicious. We're no strangers to Michelin-starred sushi restaurants, and Marumi's fish quality easily stands up to the best in South Florida. The sashimi and nigiri special selection is simply sensational, leaving us in awe with every bite. And don't even get us started on the dressing for the carpaccio-style sushi – it's an explosion of incredible flavors. Yes, they do have other Japanese dishes, but the fish is the star of this restaurant! What's truly remarkable is that we've been loyal costumers for over 6 years now, and each visit continues to be an amazing experience. Marumi has consistently delivered top-notch Japanese cuisine! 🍣🇯🇵🌟
We have been going to Marumi Sushi restaurant for over 8 years. Their foods are always fresh and consistent. They have so much to choose from. They also have daily specials. They are friends and family friendly. They do take-out too. They also have outdoor seating. We always recommend to others. You must try them and I guarantee you will love it. We gave them 10 out of 10 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hands down my favorite Ramen spot in Fort Lauderdale! Wish it was open for lunch, I'd go there religiously. The ambience is pretty chill as packed as it can get. The sushis are delicious as well and you can definitely tell the quality of their food is superior. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
First time visiting this restaurant. It had a great atmosphere, full of the hustle and bustle of an authentic locals restaurant. The menu is varied and also there are many daily specials. The staff were very friendly attentive. I will 100% be returning. I ordered the grilled duck and an eel roll, both of which were excellent and washed it down with a pot of Sake.
FIRST TIME AT THIS RESTAURANT! AND DID NOT DISAPPOINTED ! FOOD WAS FRESH CAME OUT IN A GOOD TIMELY MANNER WITH AGREAT TASTE AND PRICES ARE GOOD ITS A SMALL COZY PLACE ! SAW SOME DISHES COMNG OUT THE KITCHEN THAT LOOKED AMAZING DEFINITELY WILL BE COMING BACK TO TRY OTHER DISHES! KKEP THE GREAT SERVICE AND FOOD QUALITY THANKS
I’ve been coming here for 13 years, and every time the food has been consistently great . The fish is always fresh and hot food is well seasoned . I’ve never had a bad tasting dish from this place. The servers are really friendly and respectful, and it’s clean as well. I recommend making reservations as it’s always busy.
This is authentic Japanese sushi run by Japanese folks. They have nightly specials of legit sashimi and sushi (Japanese Uni and American Uni) Very tasty, great variety, great service and very nice staff. If I lived here, this would be my go-to restaurant.
Went in for the first time on a Friday night, had to write or name down and you are called when a table is available. We did notice that there were a couple tables marked as reserved. Next time we may just call ahead but don't think that's required. We waited only 5-10 minutes before being seated. The food was amazing, our new favorite spot for sushi, hands-down. Ramen was delicious. Almost finished our foods, so don't judge the pics. You won't be disappointed. We will be back! Often!
One of my favorite restaurants in the South Florida area! I’ve been going for years with my family and the quality of the food and service has always been top-notch. I love the low-key vibe - the staff treats everyone like family, and the food is what I imagine it to be like in Japan. It’s always freshly made, well-presented, wonderfully diverse. I highly recommend you choose anything off the specials board!
This is a great place with an amazing selection of fresh fish. The kitchen is always on point. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a delicious sushi experience.
I've been coming here for more than 10 years. Authentic Japanese cuisine from the ramen bowls to the to katsu, all the way to okonomiyaki if you get lucky. Marumi caters to your every Japan food wish. I recommend the yakisoba, unagi don, crispy baby bok choy, and of course the mochi. After all that I didn't even mention the incredibly delicious sushi. You really can't go wrong here. They also are always having specials with items not on the menu so you can try something new each and every time you visit.
Absolutely love this place it never disappoints I go for the otoro tuna sushi and the Japanese comfort food recently went tried the eggplant miso and cheese with seafood Wich was super tasty very good flavor, then I tried the cold soba noodles which where a light and refreshing flavor must add the wasabi and green onion to the dipping broth, also tried the grilled mackerel Wich was cooked perfectly. Appetizer wise my go to is always the crispy bok choy and lotus root. Also love snacking on the onigiri here. I highly recommend if you're coming in a busy night to make reservations
My favorite restaurant in South FL. I've been dining here for 10 years and I love trying all of their specials. Some of my faves on the menu are crispy bok choy, yakiniku, bbq eel, eggplant miso cheese with seafood, crispy needle fish, yaki udon noodles, sukiyaki hot pot, crunchy toro tartare roll, the sashimi and nigiri is always top quality 👏. Thank you Marumi 🥢
I have been coming here for a couple of years now & it is my favorite place to get sashimi in south Florida. They have the best sake in town I’ve had and the best sashimi in town & they have the best green tea also. Everyone who works here is also really nice & this is overall one of the best restaurants in south Florida.
It’s been a while since I’ve came to establishment. I used to go with old coworkers. I just came here for date night. It’s been a while maybe two or three months. It was amazing. Got a bagel roll some Yakiniku some specials off their specials board then we finished the night with a cheesecake roll. Plus it was a cheap corkage fee. Toki and Karen are standouts but all the staff is very nice. 5/5
This is one of the best Japanese dining experiences you can have. Marumi isn't just a sushi bar, there is a great menu to explore. I love to ask about their daily specials menu to see what the chef is making in season, a lot of choices I've made through there pleasantly surprised me. As for the menu, the stir-fries and the hot pots are what I usually get and they're very fresh and delicious, packed with flavor. The staff is very nice and accommodating. If you're ever in the area and want to try an "Izakaya" experience, definitely go to Marumi.
I come here 2-3 times a week. One of the few spots open late. Don’t think I’ve ever had a dish there that I didn’t like and I’ve tried so many things. Truly one of the best authentic, tasty and quality places you can go to for Japanese food. Surprised I’m only leaving a review now after years. Waitresses there are also amazing and so kind. Almost like a family honestly and it makes sense bc it’s family owned. Just go try it. I promise you it’s worth it.
If you are crazing Japanese Food Marumi Sushi is your place to go. The atmosphere is laid back and warm. You won’t find fancy dressed ppl but families and friends enjoying one another’s company over a great meal. The kitchen is set in the open so you can hear the chef and team working. The crispy Bok Choy was amazing- light, crispy, and juicy with just the right amount of seasoning. The angle hair noodles with Vegetables was cooked perfectly. This is a must go to for a quit relaxed dinner with friends or family. It is a small restaurant so you may have to wait for seating. They are open late night.
The very best Japanese restaurant in all of West Broward. Open late. Don't like sushi? That fine! They have so much to offer. Authentic Japanese food. Ramen bowls the size of bird baths. Wagyu. Aside from staples on their menu they also have a board with fresh specials. I highly recommend it!
This place has an incredibly diverse menu in terms of flavor and sizes. Highly recommend you take a look at their specials board. The Bronzini Carpaccio with truffle ponzu is amazing. It’s only a matter of time before this restaurant is celebrated on some national food show.
My favorite place for traditional Japanese food! Calidad, Precio y Servicio! SUBARASHI 🤩
Experiencia 100% japonesa! Comida 10/10
El menú es muy variado y la comida muy buena... he probado varios platos y eh quedado contenta con todos.
Un sitio confortable. Para las experiencias de comida japonesa, excelente. Recomendado.
First time there and we enjoyed. Will go back and trying different things. Didn’t find something that knocked my socks off yet but everything was good.
I got recommended by my friend to come here as she thinks the Japanese food here is good. So I came and I think it’s alright. Nothing is bad but it’s not impressive to me so I’m leaving a 4 stars. The food quality is average. I think I could find a better Japanese food in town
I love this Japanese spot, especially since it’s open late until late. My go-to dishes are the Soy Ramen and the Basil Roll. The ramen is super flavorful, and the Basil Roll has a really unique, delicious taste. The vibe is really chill, making it a great place to unwind.
I was traveling with my wife from Tampa Florida to Sunrise Florida and found this small Japanese restaurant from yelp. To our pleasant surprise the food was really good. We had grilled squid, deep fried smelt, oyster, seafood cevech and soft tofu soup with white rice. The reason why I gave 4 star is oyster was not as fresh as I expected other than that everything was exellent.
Delicious mix of authentic Japanese and Americanized-Japanese cuisine. Be sure to always review their specials on the dry-erase board that they roll to your table once seated. Their menu can be a little overwhelming but they have a lot of amazing dishes that are sharable. I enjoyed having most of their cooked dishes. The sushi was a bit bland the first time I had it with the raw fish not tasting very fresh. But it's a busy place and they are allowed having an off night. No worries. I have been there a handful of times when visiting and have noticed it is very popular with the locals. Try to get a reservation on weekends because you might have a long wait otherwise.
The place is clean and only have a few tables. We were greeted right away and given a table. The staff are courteous. The service is fast. The food is good. The only order I can not recommend is the hotpot. But the rest of our orders are good especially the eggplant, the beef is tender and taste good. I can recommend this place and we will try again the other food in the menu.
We love the uni pasta and sashimi here. Decor feels more like a mom and pop establishment. Servers are very friendly. We have eaten here several times and it is normally very consistent, but today was a little off. The crispy fish onion salad we normally love was not crispy and was missing vegetables it normally comes with. Our crispy bok choy was super oily and not crispy. And because we have been here before, we know this was a fluke. Definitely do give them a try if you've had a not so good experience because this is usually not the norm. We really wanted the tempura ice cream but they didn't have it so we settled for the fried cheesecake dessert and it was not good.
Taste ver
Pickup order took a really long time here — recommend going in instead, but even then, make sure to make a reservation because there was a very long wait (despite having open tables). I was told that my order would be ready in 30 minutes but instead, I ended up waiting more than 50 and wasn’t given as little as an apology. The shrimp tempura roll portion was extremely small (each roll had very little shrimp in it and wasn’t accompanied by anything else, didn’t see any avocado or crab) and tasteless which is not usually common for this fan-favorite. Seems like the restaurant could use a couple more employees in the kitchen and front-of-house areas.
These days we are all budgeting, so I try and look at menu prices before I go to restaurants. I was sad to see the menu prices were more than 30% higher at the restaurant than what is shown online. I was thinking I would spend about $40 for me and my 17 yr old niece, turned out to be $60. The protein portions for the sushi and ramen were noticeably small, especially for the high prices. The service was mediocre, nothing special by any means. Tables were a little dinge. I wouldn't take a date here Unfortunately I don't think I will be returning.
Takeout beware, portions need serious work. Ordered the $18 Michelle Ramen, and had maybe two bites worth of beef in the entire large container. Super disappointed in the amount of meat in the noodle soup. We ordered salmon skin roll ($9) and Japanese Cajun roll ($15), which tasted good, but portion wise felt very small.
Nothing was yummy, but I still pay 200 including the tip, so I try it and never again, move on to the next one
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! As soon as we walked in I noticed the entire place smelled like piss, like strong nauseating pee smell. I tried to ignore it and ordered the food but the more time I sat at the table the more bothersome the smell got. This is a sushi place so obviously I didn't want to eat sushi in a place that's not sanitary. I told the waitress I needed to cancel the food and just wanted to pay for my sake. Here is where things got interesting. She told me I couldn't do that. What?! She literally said I couldn't cancel my food and I had to pay for the entire bill even if I didn't eat it! Crazy stuff. I said I wasn't doing that and she called the cops on us. So there we sat for 10-15 minutes waiting for the cops to arrive. Needless to say, the cops told them they can't do that and gave us the bill for the sake. Which we paid and left. She literally held us hostage at this disgusting smelling place until the police arrived. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
If you want to eat here you need to tip all waiters or anyone that is taking your table don’t matter if you have a lot of money or even if you are struggling they don’t care because the waiters need to make there money don’t matter how things are they need at tip no less then $15 or 20$ if you don’t pay them they will refuse your service and they will not take you unless they know you are giving a a tip PLEASE I SAY STAY AWAY FROM HERE THEY ONLY WILL TAKE U IF YOU TIP IF YOU DONT TIP THEY WILL STOP I NEVER BEEN FORCED TO TIP IN SOMEONE WHO DONT CARE FOR THE TABLES UNLESS YOU TIP I was even run down for a tip after leaving a 40$ tip
Sad to say today I walked in here after coming here for a few years came in at 5:15 it smelled like pee and dirty mop in the dining area. I felt so sick of the smell walked out. Sorry this place has good food but the smell was unbearabl.
If your like me who randomly was craving sushi and live near the plantation area you problably will like me google sushi and this place will pop up.And my honest review is look a little further and go somewhere else.Besides the baby sized pieces of beef that lacked any seasoning ,I ordered a Spicy salmon Roll wrapped in Soy.The fish looked like it was beat with a mallet and again was barely any inside the sushi roll. This is my first negative review on google and I'm sorry.Hope it helps the restaurant and anyone searching for a good quality sushi spot. Check out the picture so you can visualize what I'm saying.
You guys literally put us on hold and than disconnected your line or stopped calls from coming in. Are you serious. I waited 15 min on hold. This is disgusting, At least tell us you’re not taking an order or any excuse than to have a customer wait on hold for 15 min and than just leave the line disconnected purposely.
This was by far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The moment I walked in, the entire place smelled like urine, making it impossible to enjoy the atmosphere. Things only got worse when the staff tried to charge me for a meal I never ordered or ate. When I refused, they shockingly called the police and held me against my will until the officers arrived. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully in a business. The staff was rude, abusive, and unprofessional. I strongly warn anyone considering this place—avoid it at all costs.
