Sushi Hanabi Pleasanton Reviews
Unexpectedly came across this gem of a place while driving by on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely recommend Jin's Taco! Perfect amount of spice, so refreshing and great presentation. It's been three weeks and I'm still thinking of it. Can't wait to eat Jin's Taco again.
Met a friend for lunch and it was very delicious. I have to point out of perfectly light and crispy the tempura was; it really was the best tempura I’ve had in a very long time.
Great sushi at this place! Had the Washington, Hanabi 3, burning lover, red dragon, spider, chuck Norris, And miso and hot sake. The fried edamame was really good! The rolls were fresh and delicious. Went again on 11/22, food was delicious and the owner Teresa came by and took a photo with us. This place gets packed early!
They have the freshest fish in the area, and everytime I go I’m never disappointed. Amazing sushi, a top spot in Pleasanton.
Hanabi is an absolute perfect Japanese experience. It reminds me more of an izakaya in setup, but the sushi menu is out of this world. They have unique rolls, great nigiri, and a fantastic lineup of other Japanese staples.
One of my absolute favorite sushi spots! You definitely want to get here just before the dinner rush, but trust me—it’s so worth it. I’ve been here countless times and usually forget to take pictures because I’m too excited to start eating. This time I ordered the Marilyn Monroe roll (pictured), the Red Dragon, Dancing Spicy Rainbow, 49’er Roll, and Yellow Dragon—and every single one was delicious. The presentation was beautiful too. Honestly, they need a bigger location with more seating because this place is THAT good!
Very friendly staff and amazing food.
The food here is very good. One of the better sushi places I have been to. The service might even be better than the food. Very kind staff, and fast! If I lived closer I would come here weekly.
I love this great spot for sushi, everything was fresh and flavorful. I've never had a bad experience and they have stayed great for years. The location is clean and welcoming, I cannot recommend this restaurant more.
From the outside you wouldn’t expect this to be THE BEST sushi restaurant in Pleasanton. The place is located at a small strip mall. However, the sushi you get served here is so delicious, it’s unbelievably fresh and tasteful. I usually sit at the bar to see the sushi chefs work. It’s a spectacle in itself. Highly recommend to go for some of the special rolls.
I've never had a sushi roll come that was on fire until tonight. The burning roll was not only a sight to see but was very tasty. I also got the unagi which was a generous portion and also very tasty. The restaurant is a bit smaller so it wouldn't be as well suited for groups, but I'd definitely come back with a smaller group. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My hot tea was never empty.
Fantastic food. Well prepared but at a cost. I would say it's 20 percent over the next restaurant but the quality pays for itself.

The food was phenomenal. The first time I went there the waitress was phenomenal fun nice friendly. The second time I went there the food was still yet phenomenal but the waitress we had that day. She wasn’t so friendly. Again, the food is out of this world, and the price was as good as the food!
Very good quality and delicious. I did not experience bad rice and sticky table top as other review mentioned. Everything was top quality, was clean, and service was fast and professional.

Food is fresh and decent. I like their specialty such as bluefin tuna and fatty hamachi. Service is good. Notice that they charge for hot tea and parking can be an issue
This was a tasty and good experience at Sushi Hanabi. I ordered the Chef's Choice Sashimi, Jin's Choice No. 2, and the Uni. Everything was good. My favorite piece of fish was in the Chef's Choice Sashimi and I will circle it in one of my pictures. All the seafood tasted very fresh and clean. Service was great and the ambiance was dark and welcoming.
Accidental stop on Tuesday night turned out to be extremely delicious, even though we had to wait to be seated for over 15 minutes. We were surprisingly amazed by the food, quality and number of customers. I mean this place was jampacked starting from 6 till 9 PM. Food was excellent. And you name it to give it a thumbs up. Miso soup outstanding! Agedashi tofu, really, it’s a deep fried? Didn’t notice. Cali roll with real crab, might be canned, however mmmmm, I’ll come back for it. And at the end of the run - Yellow Dragon - jackpot. Some service was lacking politeness, however, our server was very pleasant and kind. Really did enjoy the place and after studying the menu will be back and very soon.
Fresh ingredients and a pleasant atmosphere in this Japanese restaurant. The tables are spaced and the background chatter never disturbing, allowing for a pleasant conversation over dinner. The sushi /sashimi taste good and the combination options are satisfying. The grilled edamame is quite good!

Chirashi was decent though hubby wasn't a fan of the octopus which he found chewy. Hole in One roll was ok. Overall, glad to have tried once but I don't see us doing a repeat visit.

Unfortunately this is not a good review, we've wanted to try this location for some time but when we did we were rather disappointed. The tables were very sticky there was something off about the rice which made all of our roles taste not quite right. It definitely seems like a place to go for a quick bite or maybe students in the area but it's not quality sushi. Sashimi was okay. Did not like the unagi sauce at all and I normally love it at all other locations.

Saw the high rating and was excited to try the place, but was really disappointed by the quality and quantity of food. We ordered the lunch bento boxes and the tempura shrimp did not have panko but tasted like Costco fried shrimps. The spicy pork was the worst I've ever had, had no umami and just salty. The best part was the miso soup, and that's about it. Portion size is small and there are added cost to almost all options.
