Kody's Port Aransas Reviews
Oh my goodness, this place was wonderful!! They make their own tartar sauce in house and it is THE best!! My husband and I will definitely be back!! The staff there was so kind, helpful and friendly.
We have been to Kodys twice now, And the food has been absolutely outstanding! We have had the grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, steak, blackened Snapper, Diablo pasta-so good! Highly recommend! We Tried to get into a different place for Valentine’s dinner, which was a two hour wait, walked right into kodys and ordered and oh my God we were not disappointed! Thank you! Keep up the great food!
Seriously. Great food. Don’t let the look of the place keep you away. It’s a nice dark sheltering atmosphere after a long day at the beach. The food- you can’t go wrong!!! Especially when the owner makes a special!
I called in a Togo order, side salad and the shrimp basket with fries, it was great! Some of the best shrimp in town not sure why I have never eaten here when I come to Port A! Will be back!
Our favorite haunt! We visited on Thanksgiving Day 2022 and came back again on Christmas Day 2025. On Christmas day, restaurant offers a fixed menu—we enjoyed the blackened snapper with salad, stuffed avocados, and even hamburger patties for Fido. Warm, friendly hosts and consistently fresh, flavorful food make this place truly special.
We got the steak and shrimp, shrimp platter, and 2 garlic fish. All was good. The garlic fish was absolutely phenomenal. They had a perfect crust on the fish and full of flavor. The steak was also very good but the fish took the cake.
Made my visit at 1:00ish, was greeted promptly with a smile, ordered... received drink and didn't wait long for order, service was attentive.. was not busy (approximately 3 other small parties) Food was delicious, not plain, had flavor and consideration for the customer or person eating the dish. The atmosphere was chatty, there were good sounds in the background (music)...been here a couple of times before, never disappointed. Will be returning. If you want to escape the busy busy down the road this is the place.
On a return visit, I enjoyed the lunch special of yummy garlic fish with rice & grilled zucchini. Took my order to go as my dog was waiting in the van. Again, I found the service to be fast & friendly and prices reasonable. As others have mentioned, the ceiling over the bar area is open/unfinished, the pool table is unusable as it's stacked with stuff. Addressing both of these would improve atmosphere. There is a big sign as you walk in to order at the counter so y'all need to get over it!
We had garlic fish, rice , zucchini, salads, fried grouper. It was all delicious just not much grouper on the plate for what it costs. Salads were good but extra money. We played putt putt golf 18 holes and had a great laugh. Definitely recommend to visit and for kids. Just came back again, Garlic Fish is delicious 😋 😍
I appreciate that they were the ONLY place open on Christmas on Port Aransas besides the gas station. All volunteer workers and it was still very well managed! The fried fish was pretty good and she …
Everyone in our group loved the food and the staff was very kind and polite. The burger might be the best burger I've ever had. Thank you all so much for making our trip unforgettable.

If you want a perfect crispy chicken tenders and also included with French-fries. This is the place to go. Ten times better than Water-Burger or DQ.

I've eaten everywhere on this island and this place is the best and you cant beat the prices. They make the food from scratch, from fresh ingredients and with love!
At Kodys, somewhere hidden out of sight, is a kitchen that puts out the most amazing bar/restaurant food in Port A.... At all hours day and night. You look at the menu hand written on the wall and look around and wonder if it's really possible Kodys kitchen can deliver.... It will / it does. Depending on what you order, it may be a minute longer than you want to wait, but that's because they are making it from scratch. No wait staff so make sure you order right the first time and get an extra beer or two. Cash is king.
We took our dogs to the beach, and they had a dog friendly deck, so we went there for dinner. I had the garlic fish with grilled veggies and my husband had a burger. We both enjoyed our food and the price was very reasonable. Staff was very friendly. I'll be back.
We liked that we order as soon as you walk in. Food was great! Burgers was one of our favorites, enjoyed their variety of sides like the zucchini & chorizo Fries! The crab stuffed avocado was great also. While we waited for food the kiddos played mini golf $5each. Keep in mind it’s also a bar and Parking is limited.
The service was great, very friendly and helpful staff! The gumbo was delicious (a little spicy), the crab stuffed avocado was decadent and delicious, the fries were pretty good (though the texture of some was a bit weird). The breading on the chicken tenders was crispy and pretty good, but I would suggest making the strips a bit thinner so there's a higher breading to chicken ratio for more flavor. I included photos of the updated prices of the menu since the ones already on Google were outdated and the prices have gone up.

We walked here from our hotel since it was so close. Nothing fancy inside. We sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly enough. We ordered a couple drinks and appetizers. Met our needs.

I wanted fish for dinner and a resident of Port A suggested Kody’s for the garlic fish. You place your order and get your drinks when you first come in, but then a waiter brings the food out to you…
We wanted to try this place since we were in Port A. We heard all about the garlic fish... I wish it was sautéed with garlic but they fried it and added garlic butter. The shrimp batter was a little thick for our taste. Cole slaw was sweet and tasted great. Onion rings were thin and were great also. There’s definitely better seafood on the island.

Prime rib 'Special' on Thursday nite is a pretty good deal of $26 for salad, twice baked potatoe, and 16 oz. A "dive" bar with outdoor seating on a deck or inside with dark atmosphere.
All we were looking for was fish and burgers and that's what we got. The fried fish/shrimp combo was good but not 17.99 good. Cole slaw was a miss but the fries/fish/shrimp were good. The 3.99 din…

Ordered all you could eat catfish $22.95 Brought out 3 pieces that were 1” wide by 3” long, ask for more took 15 minutes to get and they would only give you 2 more pieces the same size as the first that they brought. Will not go back.
Absolutely SUCKED. Chicken tenders were over fried, greasy and no seasoning. Fish burger had no seasoning, no flavor, no taste. Spent all that money for some trash.
My wife and I are from out of town and this restaurant was recommended to us by a local. When we walked in, the restaurant was dirty, cluttered, dark and people were smoking at the bar. This should have been our clue to leave. The food had zero taste, burnt and extremely greasy. Also, are table was sticky and had food particles on it from the previous people who ate on it. Whataburger would have been a better choice than this dump. My advice would be to stay away from this place, its a landfill...
Avoid this place. Staff (including bartender) was rude and lacked any sort of customer service skills. Went for the “all you can eat” catfish, which started at 5. Mysteriously, at 6:15 (with barely any customers in the restaurant), they ran out. I asked for a frozen margarita and got a glass filled with tequila on the bottom and some sort of frozen concoction (not Jimmy Buffet approved) on top of it. Walked back up to the bar to ask for something and was completely ignored. Sorry - if your having a bad day - don’t come to work and take it out on your customers - won’t be spending my time or money here again.
My first time going to port aransas my friend took me to kodys. It was great! Its been about a year or 2, fast forward to yesterday... the atmosphere was nasty, the flooring was horrible, the walls were nasty.. not to mention the tables and chairs were sticky. The chicken tenders were great though.
